Highland Children’s Center is a 5-star licensed center that is structured to meet the social, physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs of children. Our goal is to encourage each child to develop his or her own uniqueness. We teach and guide children to be successful in school, at home, and in our society, while also preparing them for Kindergarten.
Our curriculum is based off of the The Creative Curriculum®. All activities are developmentally appropriate and are geared to the age and abilities of each child. Each classroom offers a variety of activities in different learning centers such as Science, Math, Blocks, Art, Dramatic Play, Music and more. Play is the natural way of learning for young children and through play, children will be exposed to Kindergarten readiness skills. Children feel secure knowing what to expect on a consistent basis, so there are structured activities planned throughout the day in a nurturing and Christian environment.
Our center is privileged to serve children 12 months through 5th grade. We provide a full day 5 star Preschool program from 7:30–6:00, a K-5 Afterschool program from 3:00 – 6:00 as well as a Summer Camp Program for K-5. We provide a nutritional morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. In addition to our curriculum in the classroom, the children attend Chapel once a week. In the Fall of 2009-2010 we started a new Pre-K class for children that missed Wake County’s cut off date, or for children that aren’t quite ready for Kindergarten. Children who are eligible for our Pre-K class must be 5 years old before December 31st.

Highland Children’s Center has an ongoing waitlist for the Preschool and Afterschool Programs. It is maintained throughout the year. When a space becomes available, office administration refers to the waitlist. There is no fee to be placed on our waitlist. We ask that all children be born first to be placed on the list. Please note that we use a firm cut-off date of August 31st when placing your child in classrooms.
When an opening becomes available, we will contact you for a tour to see our facility. After your center tour and your decision has been made to enroll in Highland Children’s Center, you will be given a registration form to complete and a $100 registration fee will be collected to secure your child’s space. We will discuss your child’s enrollment date and an Enrollment Packet will be sent to you via mail.
Most of our enrollment for each year is done each spring for our following school year which begins each September. This is a time where we transition our current children up to the next age level classroom.
If you are interested in placing your child on our waitlist, please call us at 919-787-2182, or email Judy Sprout or Gretchen Shaffer with the following information: We would be more than happy to place you on our list.

Good for little kids

Big kids shouldn’t have much to do here. It’s great if you have preschoolers. There are many interactive exhibits and many places for young children to do this review. Tripadvisor checks reviews.

Try Cafe

While I have already reviewed the museum, I found a CAFE worthy of his own attention. We were pleasantly surprised because previous experiences with museum eateries were overpriced and less than tasty. Not here! Prices were reasonable, working ultra British. During our group we ordered grilled cheese. “BLT Steak”, plain and chicken caesar. We all had good reviews of good things.

Fabulous fun!
Aug. 2017 • Family vacation
Today we ten-year-old daughter and I visited. We really enjoyed!! I have been to several Children’s Museums across North Carolina and I have to say that the Marbles are the best. That the price is very reasonable price. We loved the selection of exhibits, but we especially liked the life size games, the building block, Moneypalooza and the outdoor areas. All in all a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend to others and we will be back!

A great source of learning for kids while Hands-On activities are a lot of fun. Everything here is geared towards being able to use their hands, their minds and their imaginations. Lots of learning tools. It’s also a lot of fun for adults. very interesting.

Very fun for the family!!!!!!
July 2017 • Family vacation
This place was recommended to me by a friend who just came here. while we were in town. C. For the baseball tournament we took our son JR here for the day. He like it very much!!! Great place for kids and adults. There are so many activities that are hands on and great learning tools. My son is great and didn’t want to leave. Its price is great. It is a pity that there were none of these museums where I lived, I will definitely be there several times. If you are ever in the Raleigh area with kids, check this place out. You can take a small picnic and eat outside at the tables. Also, if you want to go to one of the local restaurants, you can leave and then return to the museum if you have your own good network.

Great fun for everyone

This is a must see; Have to do; It’s worth trying the Children’s Museum if you’re someone where under Raleigh! It is professionally designed and executed. Our little boy worked from show to show until he was completely exterminated and still didn’t want to leave. The exhibitions are very well designed and organized to entertain active mental and physical stimulation. Come if you have children; you (and they) will not be disappointed!!
