The Learning Center, operated by the Central Florida YMCA consists of two state-of-the-art licensed childcare facilities located on Walt Disney World property in Lake Buena Vista and Kissimmee. 

We are currently seeking dependable individuals with a passion for early childhood education to join our team as year-round Assistant Teachers and Teachers, as well as seasonal Camp Counselors during the summer months. Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in early childhood education, child development, or equivalent preferred. A minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in an early learning program, licensed childcare center or home-based childcare is a plus!
  • Adult / Child CPR & First Aid certified; trainings available for Y staff.   
  • 18 years or older and must be able to exercise mature judgment and decision-making.
  • Must successfully complete the Department of Children & Families 45 hour Introductory Child Care Training in specified time period as outlined in the Florida Administrative Code Childcare Standards.

Essential Functions

Staff are responsible for the care and education of a group of children as a part of a teaching team, while maintaining a secure and safe environment for learning and play. Assistant Teachers and Teachers work in teams to plan, implement, as well as supervise the activities in a curriculum that is in accordance with the developmentally appropriate practices as defined by the Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment (APPLE), DCF regulations and Central Florida YMCA operational policies. S/he must possess good communication and interpersonal skills as this position requires active participation with other members of the teaching team, administration and guardians to ensure our children receive the consistent, nurturing care they need to develop socially, physically and cognitively.

General Summary:

Responsible for facility and equipment inspection and preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, including fans, pumps/motors, and plumbing equipment. Also responsible for cleanliness and safety of mechanical areas in buildings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITITES:
• Performs preventative maintenance (i.e. cleaning, calibrations, adjustments, repairs) work on centers, offices, playgrounds, and vehicles, including heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC & R) equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications. Performs some landscaping maintenance. Changes filters monthly.
• Assists with periodic and annual site/playground inspections. Helps ensure facility compliance with State and Federal licensing and local/State/Federal requirements by checking equipment and making adjustments/repairs.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Education/Disabilities Manager, directs the operation of the Mental Health Component to ensure compliance of Head Start/ Early Head Start program with Head Start Performance Standards and provides consultation and referral services that assist families and staff in the understanding of mental wellness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as a resource to program staff regarding mental health concerns to enable the timely and effective identification of and intervention in staff concerns about a child’s mental health with a regular schedule of on- site mental health consultation at Head Start, Early Head Start classrooms, CCP partner locations and monthly visits to State Preschool and CCTR sites.

• Collaborates with the Education Team and CDs to ensure that the Social Emotional curriculum (Second Step) is integrated into the overall Head Start curriculum approach and training.

• Participation in the Head Start and Early Head Start Classroom Management plans in coordination with CMC and center staff.

• Assist staff in the Implementation of the policies to limit suspension and prohibit expulsion as describes in Section 1302. 17 of HS Performance Standards.

• Provides staff and parent training presentations as identified as part of the program in-service planning to appropriately implement the mental health standards.
