Child Care Scholarships for Essential Workers

Child care costs covered for essential staff whose income is less than 300 percent of the federal poverty level (or $79,500 for a family of four) and will be paid up to market rate for each region statewide for children aged six weeks through 12 years.  
Poverty Level Guidelines 

Families currently receiving child care scholarships under the CARES Act are encouraged to also apply for this new funding opportunity—CARES child care scholarships will end on June 28 and those currently receiving CARES scholarships will need to reapply.  Parents can apply for funding through a single online application, and providers will be paid directly on behalf of the parent.  The online application can be submitted starting June 23, 2021, until funds are depleted.  Applications will be processed and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Child Care Resource & Referral Agency

If you want help locating child care or have questions about child care, call 800-424-4532. The CCRR will be able to give you names of providers in your area that may meet your child care needs. Remember though, this is just a starting point. You will need to contact the provider to see if they have space available for your child and to visit the provider to make sure for yourself that this is the right match for you.

Financial Assistance

In general, families are eligible for financial assistance if they meet New York State’s low-income guidelines and need child care to work or attend employment-related training.

Eligibility

You are guaranteed child care if you are receiving Temporary Assistance and need child care in order to meet work participation requirements.You may be eligible for child care for one year after leaving Temporary Assistance if your case is closed because you went to work and need child care so you can continue to work. The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services determines eligibility for child care assistance based on income, reasons for needing child care, and your child’s age and individual needs.

Adapted holiday programs
Holiday program in Hamburg. The goal of all their programs is to provide participants with the opportunity to connect, follow directions, meet new people, have fun, and feel comfortable in the environment. They will strive to provide a safe, caring yet challenging environment to help people with autism spectrum disorders and other neurobiological/behavioral issues. You do not need to be a resident to participate. Age 7-30 years. Go online to register or subscribe to a mailing list.

Art Access Program
Designed to give eligible members more opportunities to participate in the arts in their communities. To be eligible, you must be currently receiving government income-based assistance (SNAP, Medicaid, TANF) and present a valid benefit card when you register for an Arts Access pass. Registration forms are available at sites throughout Western New York. After registration, a welcome package will be sent to your home address. The welcome package will include your Arts Access pass, additional information about the program, and a list of participating organizations offering Arts Access tickets. The pass is valid for one year only. After this year, you must register again by completing a new application. The Arts Access season runs from 9September to August 1st.

Once a month, their special Au-Some nights give children with autism spectrum disorders and sensory processing disorders, as well as their friends and family, the opportunity to play and learn together in an understanding and supportive environment. Families will have access to museum space and play areas. Recommended activities include a music center, therapy dogs, art projects, and gross motor exercises. Explore & More will also feature a social story about the new museum and its play areas, quiet sets, as well as soothing sensory spaces within the museum. Letchworth State Park Autism Nature Trail
Activities along the trail will support and encourage sensory perception and provide enjoyment for visitors of all ages and abilities. The trail loop consists of eight stations offering a wide range of experiences, from fairly active to active exploration and adventure. The trail is free, the entrance to the park is also free from November to April. From May to October there is an entry fee of $10 per car. 9Sat. 11:12-30:10 September-April. Join anytime. Recreation program for youth with developmental and other disabilities aged 5-21. Exceptions are made at the discretion of the program coordinator. The main goals of the program are to provide recreational activities and sports training that will help improve motor control, increase self-esteem and improve social skills. They offer Saturday mini-camp, bowling, basketball, monthly Friday night events, track and field, and softball. Dates, times and prices vary. Rates are available for individuals eligible for the OPWDD program. They also participate in the Special Olympics Western Region program. Operates October-May.

Clarence Learn to Swim Adaptive Program

Located at Clarence High School, it is designed for children with a classified disability or severe illness. Adaptive Level 1 (ages 4-9) for swimmers who are just starting to get comfortable in the water. These children are NOT able to swim on their own and need the support of an adult in the water one on one. Adaptive Level 1 (ages 1-2) is for swimmers who can swim, walk and balance in the water on their own. Swimmers may be interested in competing in the Special Olympics aquatic division.

Cooperative Community Mission (CCM)
A non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to free (or low-cost) therapy programs and resources in a fully inclusive environment that will support development and growth for all ages.
