Reuben Blackwell Jr missing or found: Where is Reuben Blackwell Sr now? Update
Reuben Blackwell Jr.’s parents had serious marital problems, but few knew that all this would lead to the kid’s disappearance in May 1996. his safety and did everything possible to get him back. Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries: Parent Abduction references Reuben Jr’s bizarre case and sheds light on how parents’ conflicts can often influence their decisions about their children. Now let’s find out more about this incident, shall we?
What happened to Reuben Blackwell Jr.?
Reuben Bennett Blackwell Jr. was born December 29, 1992 in Clinton, Maryland to Reuben Bennett Blackwell Sr. and Deborah Tinsley Blackwell. Reuben Bennett Blackwell Jr. was three years old at the time of his disappearance. His mother affectionately referred to him by his middle name “Bennet” and described him as a “precious little child” who loved going to kindergarten and had few friends. Deborah and her then-husband Reuben Sr. have had many disagreements since the birth of their son.
Deborah shared that a 39-year-old special education teacher had allegedly verbally abused her for three years, and most recently showed aggression by throwing objects around the house. In the end, things got so bad that the first one began to fear for her safety and the safety of her son and decided to seek legal help. On May 6, 1996, Deborah sent Reuben Jr. to kindergarten and went to file a court order against Reuben Sr., according to which he had to leave their house for ten days. After that, the couple had to go to court to settle the dispute.
However, Deborah received an order and asked the police to send the documents to Reuben Sr. a little later, since it was his turn to pick up their son from kindergarten. While the former was at work, her then-husband took Reuben Jr. and went to her mother’s house. However, things took a shocking turn when the police arrived and handed Reuben Sr. an eviction notice for Deborah’s house. Enraged, he got into a fight with the authorities before fleeing with his 3-year-old son in his car.
Reuben Blackwell Jr found or missing?
Reuben Blackwell Jr. is still missing; He was last seen on May 6, 1996, when his father left with him in a blue 1993 Volvo 940 sedan. However, his mother still hopes that her loving boy will return home and prays for a “Christmas miracle” every year on his birthday. When Deborah returned to her mother’s house and found that Reuben Jr. was missing, she immediately teamed up with the authorities to find him in all the surrounding areas.
A worried mother made missing persons posters for her son and distributed them everywhere, including all churches in the Washington DC area. What’s more, over the past 26 years, she’s been reaching out to various news channels and media outlets for help from the public to find Reuben Jr. and bring him back safely.
Eventually Deborah found some help at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), who helped draw the age pictures of the missing boy and circulated them around the country. Despite receiving several possible tips about Reuben Sr. and his son, they all led to a dead end. Regardless, Deborah and the authorities continue to solicit the public for any leads they find about Reuben Jr., now 29.years, and he may go by the middle name “Bennett”.
Where is Reuben Blackwell Senior today?
After Reuben Blackwell Sr kidnapped his son and fled Clinton, Maryland, he initially kept in touch with some of his relatives. He reportedly threatened to harm Reuben Jr. when he picked him up and allegedly sent his mother a letter in which he later described their funeral. An arrest warrant was immediately issued against him on charges of kidnapping and obstructing the legal parental custody of Deborah.
This was followed by a federal arrest warrant issued on September 22, 2000 for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. In 2014, authorities began combing Ohio, following a lead that indicated that the father and son were in the region. Unfortunately, since then the police have not found any additional information.
On the other hand, Reuben Sr. has so far avoided arrest and is still a fugitive in the US, with two warrants still active against him. Meanwhile, Deborah is picking up the pieces of her life, and although her son’s kidnapping has taken an alarming toll on her health, she is slowly regaining her strength to continue searching for him with the police as part of what they still call an active investigation.
All the best for children – Kommersant Newspaper Ukraine – Kommersant
Yesterday, representatives of the Communist Party registered in the Verkhovna Rada a bill on returning to the state the premises of leased or sold kindergartens. So the authors intend to overcome the shortage of places in preschool educational institutions. After the termination of the contract, the owners of the premises are invited to pay compensation from the budget. According to lawyers, the forced return of kindergartens will be more costly than the construction of new ones.
Draft N9794 “On Restoring the Network of Preschool Educational Institutions” was registered by People’s Deputies Petr Symonenko, Kateryna Samoylyk and Victoria Demyanchuk (all from the Communist Party). They propose to return to state ownership the premises of kindergartens that are not used for their intended purpose in order to resume their work. According to the authors of the document, premises sold and leased to commercial structures, as well as those owned by departments, but not used for preschool education of children, are subject to return: those given to the courts, social security departments and various regional departments. Local officials within three months must evict the structural units of the authorities from the former kindergartens, moving them to more suitable premises.
Among other things, local authorities are encouraged to prematurely terminate the lease agreements for kindergarten premises, and challenge the change of the owner’s right in court. It is assumed that after the termination of the contract, the state will compensate the owner for the costs of purchasing and repairing the premises according to the calculation method, which will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Yekaterina Samoilik explained to Kommersant yesterday that if the kindergarten premises bought by a private company are returned, the money spent on its purchase will be returned to the owner. “We don’t have enough premises for preschool education in our country, so we can’t squander kindergartens. Local authorities rented them out for decades or sold them for next to nothing, and now they will take them back!” said Ms. Samoylik. intended purpose, there will be regional departments of the Ministry of Education. The data will be transferred to the prosecutor’s office, after which the contracts will be challenged in court. ”
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, Family, Youth and Sports, in 2011 there were 15,934 kindergartens of all forms of ownership in Ukraine (in 1992, according to the State Statistics Committee, there were 23.8 thousand kindergartens in Ukraine, and in 2002 – 15.3 thousand). “Last year, we managed to resume the work of 136 kindergartens that used to be closed. Another 316 gardens were opened in premises adapted for this, and 20 were built from scratch,” Tamara Panasyuk, head of the department of preschool education at the ministry, told Kommersant, without specifying how many premises were returned through the court.
According to experts, it will not be easy to implement forced return of kindergartens in practice. “This bill is either a political declaration or an attempt at nationalization. Kindergarten premises or their territories can be located office centers, sports and entertainment facilities. In the event of termination of the contract, the state will have to pay huge compensation to the owner, reimburse the funds spent on repairs and arrangement of premises.
