    The Royal Garden is small in size. We were there when a fine rain was drizzling from above. Walked around the garden at a brisk pace in 15 minutes.

    Here the name speaks for itself. The amazing stiffness of the name will accompany you throughout the walk, which is worth spending time on it, reminding you of yourself: the cleanliness of the paths, the well-groomed flowering plants, beautiful lawns, the azure-calm sky, the variety of plants presented.
    At the same time, all the time spent in the garden, I had a feeling of orderliness and clear symmetry. nine0053 Every bench in the park is dedicated to someone important, famous 🙂
    The park is huge! They say that at one time, when some plants typical of this country disappeared in China, it was the Edinburgh Royal Garden that helped with their restoration. Since it is here that the entire flora of China is collected, in a limited amount of course.

    Walks in the Botanical Garden

    Visiting the botanical garden is free, tickets are only for indoor expositions and excursions.

    The garden is not too big, but organized very thoughtfully, there are a lot of walking paths. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here.

    There are a lot of squirrels in the garden. They are not afraid of people, if you take food with you – they eat practically from their hands.

    I liked it very much. We were lucky with the weather, we walked for 2 hours, but we wanted more. The lawn gives the impression of just velvet. Trees of various shapes. Flowers.

    Edinburgh Botanic Gardens are a great place for pleasant walks in good weather. It’s quiet, cool and beautiful here. As in any botanical garden, there are many types of plants, flowers, trees, there are even real gardens with beets and tomatoes (we are not surprised by this, of course, but still great). The garden is made with great care, everything is very well maintained and pleasing to the eye. You can wander along the winding paths, sit on a cute memorial bench or have a coffee in a cafe. For £6 you can get into the indoor greenhouse, we did not go, but without that we enjoyed it immensely. The feeling of peace lasted the whole day. Come here if you want to take a break from the crowded city center with its museums, bars, shops. nine0003

    Not very large in size, you can get around at a fast pace in 1-2 hours without looking into the greenhouses, but . .. I do not advise. Spend at least 3 hours or more on a walk to enjoy all this beauty at your own pace. Very, very well maintained area. Everything is neat and clean, everything is beautifully cut. nine0003

    If you are tired, you can visit a cafe right on the territory of the Botanical Garden, I won’t say anything about food, but the sweets that we tried with coffee are the height of pleasure …. I got distracted.

    There are many rhododendrons and conifers in the forest part of the garden, it is a pity that they did not bloom during this period. I advise you to come during their flowering period and take beautiful photos against their background. Photos will be unforgettable.

    I liked the garden part of the garden, I was impressed by the huge pumpkins and apple trees. By the way, there was an announcement that apples would be harvested on such and such a date and everyone was invited to try them. Welcome to tasting. nine0003

    There are many blooming flowers and bushes around. I really liked that part of the garden where the alpine courtyard is located, as well as a collection of plants from China. How about a beech hedge? Everything is neat and tidy.
    And, most importantly, visiting the Botanical Garden is absolutely FREE, except for the greenhouses.
    How to get there? We visited as part of a bus tour, blue line.

    Just a magical garden, a large greenhouse with themed rooms, designed for you to walk around it calmly, moving from one natural area to another. You need to pay only for the entrance to the greenhouse, the botanical garden itself can be viewed for free. It was only at the end of the walk that I realized that there is a special route in the garden that introduces visitors to trees that are closely related to the culture of Scotland. They can be found on the signs. I really liked the collection of conifers and the giant green hedge. nine0003

    After the Mile this is one of my favorite places in Edinburgh. It’s just great here! If you delve into history, you can find out that horses and cattle were traded on this square, and public executions were also held on the square. The oldest house here now dates back to 1616. Now here is a “party” place in the old city. Come here on Friday evening and see for yourself…)

    Square near the castle

    Beautiful medieval square

    A very beautiful square, from which most excursions start, looks mysterious in the evening, however, like most buildings and streets in the area . We caught such an unusual excursion on the square, the guide was dressed up in a death costume. The tour was accompanied by frightening music))
