Every day I call my old number from a new phone. He immediately switches to a voice message.

So, I’m still looking at the girl at the kiosk.

And then I get up and go to her.

Hair – isn’t it too short? Probably should be longer.

I’m already a few steps away, extending my hand. ..

Jack pats me on the shoulder and I startle in surprise.

— Dude!

At that moment, a guy appears from behind the kiosk and, making a cheerful grimace at us, hugs the girl:

— Hi, Jen!

I stop and look at Jack.

— What?

— This is not her. It’s not time yet,” he says softly.

– I know.

— Really?

I glare at him with mock ferocity:

— Yes, I know. But for the life of me, I can’t help it.

We sit down at the table again.

Jack pushes the orange tray towards me and takes the bottle of chocolate milk:

– I have toast.

Smiling, I take a cup of coffee and we clink glasses.

– For the completion of the eleventh grade! Jack says.

“And for the beginning of the twelfth,” I add. – Let it run unnoticed.

I am looking at a girl with a guy. Perhaps one day Leila and I will be here too. And it won’t be long before Layla and I hug around the kiosk in the same way.

A woman walks past the buffet with a pile of papers in her hands. She reminds me of someone, but I can’t figure out who. The woman casts a thoughtful glance in my direction.

Dr. Emerson? How can this be?

I get up.

— What? Jack asks.

– I’ll be right back.

A woman turns a corner and I almost start running, but in vain – she seems to have evaporated. Or maybe I recognized it. And she was never here at all.

On my way back to the table, about twenty yards away, I spot a girl. She sits with her back against a tree. Platinum hair, long, almost to the waist, slightly fluttering in the wind. The blue dress reaches to the ankles, long legs are stretched forward. There are no shoes. With a bottle of chocolate milk in her hand, she is reading a book.

Astonished, I continue to watch.

And then I take my phone out of my pocket. Suddenly the day has come when the call will pass? .. I press the speed dial button. And, as always, I wait with bated breath.

A barely audible melody is heard – “Black Sabbath”. Holding out her hand, she picks up the phone. My telephone. She does not have time to answer – I’m already in a hurry to her.
