Reach. Achievements. Reached. These words are associated with big and small victories, including creative successes, bright events on the path of a professional musician.

I remember that sunny September day when I crossed the threshold of the music school. Just then, my journey into the world of music began: acquaintance with the instrument, notes and the basics of musical literacy, and a year later I made my debut on stage and the first prize. And more and more peaks were visible ahead. I have already performed at regional, city, and regional competitions. Improving the technique of owning the instrument, I felt more confident on stage. Strong experiences became pleasant excitement, and trembling in the hands – the exact feeling of each string.

It was then that a grandiose goal was set – the International Festival-Competition “Guitar Virtuosi”. When I learned that the winners would perform on the stage of the State Academic Chapel of St. Petersburg, I really got excited: I wanted to win the first biggest competition for me. Many hours of rehearsals of the competition program for the sake of perfecting each sound did not leave me any free time at all. But it was worth it. What emotions I experienced when I received an award from the hands of famous musicians and performed with them on the beautiful stage of the Chapel! The chairman of the jury of the competition, professor of the Chelyabinsk Academy of Music and Arts Viktor Kozlov said parting words to me, the honored artist of Mexico Nadya Borislova presented a memorable prize, and for the first time I talked with the brilliant Italian guitarist Flavio Cucchi. Now my path has been decided: I will be a musician for whom playing classical guitar has become an integral part of life.

Three years later, I confirmed my victory, already being a student at the M.P. Mussorgsky. Immediately after the “Guitar Virtuosos” in 2016, I received the Grand Prix and a special prize named after the famous classical guitar teacher Yadviga Richardovna Kovalevskaya in the “Guitar” nomination at the International Competition named after A. I. Kuznetsov, in which he also won, studying in the third year of the school.

But the music called forward, and I did not want to stop there. Then there was a competition of performers on folk instruments “Cup of the North” in the city of Petrozavodsk. And again joy: I won this competition! The achievement map has become wider. And then the first performance in Moscow. And I, Gleb Sokolov, am the winner of the “Young Talents” award of the Government of St. Petersburg and the owner of a scholarship from the Government of St. Petersburg! Victory in the all-Russian competition “Guitar in Gnesinka” (Moscow) and a prize – a guitar. In the same year, my dream came true: I performed with the symphony orchestra “Ensemble” under the direction of the wonderful conductor Kirill Zavodchikov in Petrikirche and the Small Hall of the Philharmonic named after M. I. Glinka.Such moments always remain in memory not only thanks to diplomas, prizes and prizes, but also unforgettable emotions, sensations and acquaintances with wonderful people. Then you sincerely thank the teachers in the specialty: Yurova Natalya Alekseevna and Trofimov Dmitry Chapaevich, say thanks to your parents You feel that you are moving in the right direction and becoming a real professional by participating in master classes and communicating with famous performers, performing in the best halls of the city and giving solo concerts.

So, after everything that happened to me over the years, I managed to find my calling, it is connected with music. And this is one of my main achievements. Now I can’t imagine a day without music. After all, it calms, heals the soul and cheers me up in difficult moments, and also inspires, fills me with emotions and positive energy. And I’m glad that I can make people’s lives a little better and happier by playing music on a beautiful instrument.

It is probably no coincidence that B. Pasternak compared the contradictory process of creativity (“play and torment”) with “stretched bowstring of a tight bow”, indicating this as a single, but true path of a creative person, when it is necessary to “get to the very essence”. Achievement is both the joy of victory and the tension associated with the eternal desire to improve. But I am sure that my main achievements are yet to come.
