AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Clovis KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • My children have been with KinderCare for the past four years. We started with my oldest daughter when she was an infant, and now we are pleased to enroll our second daughter. We love the facility, the staff and the management team; they are all great people! They do so much for the children and really care about their education. I love knowing there is a curriculum for my infant. These early years are so important and it is comforting to know a single second isn’t being wasted. As a teacher, I find it amazing to know they are following Common Core like my school district. It will make for a much easier transition for my children when they go to elementary school. Great things are always happening at KinderCare and I can’t imagine taking my girls anywhere else!

    S. P. – KinderCare Parent
  • I couldn’t be happier with KinderCare and the AMAZING management team and the staff that are with my children. They take the time to not only make my children feel welcomed every day, but me as well. The teachers make them feel so comfortable at drop off and have them so eager to come back in the morning. As a working mom, it is hard to be away from your children all day, but the teachers are so good at filling me in on their day. I know I could call anytime and get an update on my children and what they have been doing. I love knowing when I drop in to visit they are still warm and loving towards all the children. These things help me feel more connected to my children throughout the day. The staff is always ready and willing to help me with whatever I may need. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I LOVE my KinderCare center!

    K. M. – KinderCare Parent
  • I couldn’t imagine having my child anywhere else. The wonderful staff at KinderCare is so good with my son! He is so happy to go to school every day. He even wants to go on the weekends! I know that my son is in good hands when I drop him off in the morning. He has so much fun with his friends and teachers. Everyone takes the time to not only talk to him, but to talk to me as well. I have great relationships with all of the teachers and feel 100% comfortable with them. KinderCare is an amazing center! I will never leave!

    K. Mc. – KinderCare Parent
  • I am a proud single mother of two, and having my children in a safe, clean and hands on daycare has always been my priority. Since my children’s enrollment about seven months ago I have seen an enormous amount of improvement in their learning and socializing skills. The things I love the most about KinderCare are the positive and friendly staff, the cleanliness of the facility, and their curriculum that allows my children to grasp and attain knowledge in every area of study. I wouldn’t want my children at any other facility. Thank you KinderCare for all that you do!

    Z.

    W. – KinderCare Parent

  • As a first time mother I was VERY nervous to bring my 8 month old to anyone else but me, of course. The staff at KinderCare really takes the time to listen to me and my daughter and what both of our needs are. Any time I have had concerns, they are quickly put to ease. I can’t imagine what it takes to keep all of these kids and all of these families happy, yet somehow, they do it and they truly care about each and every child and family in their care. My daughter started in the infants room and is now in the 1 year old class and the activities they do inspire so much growth and provide such amazing education. My daughter has learned so much more than I could have ever asked for or taught her. Thank you to all of her Teachers and the staff at KinderCare for making this such a wonderful experience. Thank you for being Loving, Kind, Respectful, and Understanding.

Lipids in fossilized feces confirmed the settlement of America by humans before Clovis

Anthropology
Archeology

Complexity

Lisa-Marie Shillito et al. / Science Advances, 2020

US researchers have proposed using data on the lipid composition of coprolites (fossilized feces) to determine which species visited a number of US caves thousands of years ago, reported in Science Advances . Using this method, scientists have already confirmed that some of the coprolites in the Oregon Paisley caves were left by people 12.2 thousand years ago, which means that some individuals of our species migrated to North America even before the representatives of the Clovis culture.

Which of Homo sapiens was the first to reach North America and when it was is not entirely clear. For several decades in the second half of the 20th century, the hypothesis was popular among paleoanthropologists that these were people of the Clovis culture. According to genetic data, they were the ancestors of 80 percent of the representatives of the aboriginal North American tribes. The assumption that Clovis first came to the New World about 11 thousand years ago was based primarily on the fact that almost no remains and traces of the material culture of other people were found.

Gradually, information began to accumulate about people who did not belong to the Clovis culture and came to the continent earlier – 20 or even more thousand years ago along the Bering Isthmus. The ice sheet that covered Alaska and most of the territory of modern Canada slowed down their spread to the south, but already 15-14 thousand years ago they settled in both North and South America.

Pre-Clovis people left coprolites and stone tools found, among others, in the Paisley caves in Oregon. Scientists attribute these coprolites to humans, since they found characteristic DNA in them. However, the genetic material is particularly susceptible to contamination: in other words, human DNA could appear on coprolites when they were removed from the caves. Therefore, researchers from the UK and the USA, led by Ian Bull from the University of Bristol, proposed using more stable compounds, lipids, to establish the origin of coprolites.

Lipids most commonly found in the faeces of various mammalian species

Lisa-Marie Shillito et al. / Science Advances, 2020

Share

The researchers took into account that the composition of mammalian feces depends on their diet, and that different enzymes work in different species – and therefore, humans can produce some molecules, but their likely cave neighbors, lynxes and bears, cannot. Scientists selected 21 coprolites from those found in Paisley, separated from each fragment weighing about half a gram, crushed, added solvents suitable for lipids, and thus extracted these compounds from artifacts.

Further, using gas chromatography – mass spectrometry, the researchers determined which lipids (primarily steroids and fatty acids) were contained in each of the coprolites and which animal species could synthesize them, and compared the obtained data with the results of analysis of mitochondrial DNA from the same coprolites.

Lipid composition of coprolites from Paisley, their dating and species of those from whose feces they were formed (dark gray – data from lipid studies, light gray – mitochondrial DNA)

Lisa-Marie Shillito et al. / Science Advances, 2020

Share

In 13 out of 21 cases, the assessment of the species of the organism from whose feces the coprolite was formed, according to data on mitochondrial DNA and lipids, coincided. Two of them turned out to be products of the vital activity of predators (lynx Lynx rufus and lion Panthera leo ), one contained both human and wolf/canine lipids (as the authors suggest, because predators sometimes ate human feces).

Three coprolites, dated at about 12.2 thousand years before the present, contained only lipids that Homo sapiens can make, and its own mitochondrial DNA. Considering that their age exceeds estimates typical of the Clovis culture, the coprolites provide further evidence that the very first people in the Americas were more ancient immigrants from Eurasia.

Researchers note that their method of determining the origin of coprolites is not only not inferior in accuracy to DNA analysis, but also provides greater opportunities in comparison with it. The genetic material, including mitochondrial material, does not display what this or that individual ate, and it is easy to determine this by bile acids and sterols in feces. In addition, lipids, unlike DNA, are contained in coprolites in sufficient quantities so that they do not have to be artificially “multiplied” based on a very small number of molecules – as is the case for polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Accordingly, a fairly typical error for PCR is reduced to a minimum, when a small admixture of foreign molecules is repeatedly copied and changes the whole picture of the analysis results.

Earlier we wrote that stone spearheads aged 13.2-15.5 thousand years, found in Texas, indicated two waves of human migration to America – 15.5 and 14 thousand years ago. We also mentioned that there is no single point of view on the path of settlement of people “before-Clovis” from Alaska across the continent: someone believes that they walked along the land corridor between the ice sheets, someone – that they crossed part of the way along the coast Pacific Ocean, and the available data do not allow us to reject any of these hypotheses.

HGI theme is very nice. Colors, spacious & airy common areas, decorations are not overwhelming. I’ve stayed in a few of these hotels and I love them. One less than pleasing experience won’t deter that.
