Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton beat rivals in the last primaries – Kommersant FM – Kommersant
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton became the leaders of the new series of primaries. The Republican won in all five states where the vote took place. These are Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Rhode Island. The ex-secretary of state won against the Democrats in four states. And only in Rhode Island, Democrat Bernie Sanders received 10% more votes than his rival Clinton. How the international media react to the end of the Fourth Super Tuesday in the United States – in the review of the foreign press on Kommersant FM.

It can be said that both politicians – both Trump and Clinton – have significantly strengthened their positions in the struggle for the right to be called the only candidates from their parties in the presidential race, writes Der Spiegel .
Donald Trump became the main winner of the next round of primaries. As The Wall Street Journal clarifies , he won in all five states by a clear margin. Newspaper Count The Washington Post , Pennsylvania’s Republican election is about 30% ahead of rivals. Similar patterns are observed in the states of Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island.
As French Le Monde points out, it takes 1,237 delegate votes to win the Republican convention in July in Ohio.
The Washington Post found out the balance of power in the Republican Party after this Super Tuesday. Donald Trump has 950 votes, Ted Cruz – 560, John Kaysik – 153.
Deutsche Welle assures that competitors are unlikely to be able to stop the scandalous billionaire – with a high probability he will gain an absolute majority of votes for nomination from the party, and even before holding a party congress in July. And Trump himself has no doubts about success – he said that he considers himself “pre-nominated.”
Hillary Clinton, in turn, could not completely beat her rival in the Democratic camp – Senator Bernie Sanders, reports The New York Times . He still won in Rhode Island, gaining 10% more votes there than the former Secretary of State. But this should not hit Clinton’s positions hard, the American media are sure. The reason is that Rhode Island sends too few delegates to the party convention.
The toughest fight was in Connecticut, writes The Washington Post . In the rest of the states – Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware – Clinton won by a clear margin. The Democratic nominee will be announced in July at the Pennsylvania convention, and the winner will have to receive 2,383 delegate votes. Estimated The Washington Post , Clinton already has 2,141 votes, while Sanders has only 1,321.
The Guardian , meanwhile, quotes the words of Donald Trump – he has already said that Clinton will not be a “good president.” He, in particular, told reporters: “She does not have the strength and endurance to deal, for example, with China. Hillary’s leadership will be absolutely terrible for economic development. She doesn’t know anything about jobs except jobs for herself.”
