Oumou was one of my most dependable Home Health Aides. She went out of her way to think of everything that made my life easier. As I use a walker at home, and a wheelchair outside, because of severeneuropathy in my legs, she looked after me carefully to make sure I never fell or experienced any problems with walking when I felt I could. She firmly held my arm and I felt secure, in the knowledge that she has expert home health aide skills. Besides skills, she is a very compassionate person, and it doesn’t hurt that she also has a delightful personality, whose humor was a welcome relief to my sometime depression. I would recommend Oumou to anyone who needs and wants a skilled caring person….

A REAL FIND !!! A good friend highly recommended Kazi to us. We had had basement issues and he proved a knowledgable contractor. He carefully examined the situation inside and out and clearly explained – in a common sense manner – what needed to be done. He was always on time and his Rahat Construction crew worked diligently, quickly and carefully. They did a beautiful, reasonably priced job and left the site in good order. Kazi inspires confidence and trust and we were not disappointed. Also a special shoutout to Francesco, the main worker on the crew. We would not hesitate to hire Kazi again to work on our home

It was absolutely wonderful! I’ve had many house cleaners and this woman is truly fabulous and 100% trustworthy. She is very detail oriented follows all directions and due to the fact that I’m very meticulous about the house it’s hard me for me to find someone who feels all expectations. She goes above and beyond the job and ensures the house is beyond beautiful when she is done! Truly a magical cleaner

  • C.O.E. Enterprise LLC

I have an old house and in desperate need of extra closet space. He built a double wide closet in my basement which was great for all my husband work clothes. I also moved my mother in during her time on hospice and eli installed 2 French sliding doors for me between my living room and front sitting area which I was able to use as a bedroom for my mother. It worked out great to give my mom the privacy she needed and allowed me to keep an eye on her. Eli became like family, and his skills are impeccable

House Cleaning FAQ

  1. How much does it cost to clean a house?

Answer: The average cost of house cleaning is between $120 and $240. A variety of factors influence the cost of house cleaning, including the size of your house, the specific tasks you want to be done, and local labor costs. In general, larger homes cost more to have cleaned, as do those that have a more extensive list of tasks. You can generally save money on house cleaning by signing up for a biweekly or weekly cleaning plan.

  2. How much does a cleaning pro cost?

Answer: Individual house cleaning pros cost an average of $12 to $25 per hour while professional house cleaning companies often charge between$25 and $80 per hour. Individual house cleaning professionals often charge less than professional house cleaning companies because they’re paying themselves directly rather than charging enough to pay for managers, administrative staff, and cleaning pros.

  3. How much does it cost to deep clean a house?

Answer: The average cost to deep clean a house is around $0.20 per square foot. This is compared to $0. 07 to $0.15 per square foot for standard cleaning. Deep cleaning is a more in-depth service than regular cleaning and takes longer than regular cleaning. The primary factors that will impact the cost of deep cleaning include the size of your home, how dirty the space is, and local labor costs.

  4. What is included in a deep house cleaning?

Answer: Deep cleaning usually includes all the tasks that come with a basic cleaning in addition to more in-depth tasks. These additional tasks include deep scrubbing and sanitizing tiles and grout, cleaning inside and behind appliances, scrubbing baseboards and walls, deep cleaning carpets and furniture, and wiping down all the fixtures.

  5. What is included in a basic house cleaning?

Answer: The tasks included in a basic house cleaning include general tidying, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, wiping all surfaces, and taking out the trash from all common spaces. Basic cleaning also includes cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and the kitchen, making beds, and wiping the exterior of appliances and windows. Check with your cleaning pro to be sure you understand what’s included before they begin the job.

  6. How often should you have your house cleaned?

Answer: In general, you should tidy your house daily and have it cleaned professionally two to four times per month. In addition to regularly scheduled cleanings, you should have your home deep cleaned two to three times per year. If you don’t have your home cleaned on a weekly or biweekly schedule, you can expect to pay more when you do have your home cleaned, as it’ll likely take longer.

Danny and his team are incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of home remodeling, work hard and fast, maintain excellent communication, and do it at a fair, no-surprises cost. They took on a project that turned into a gut renovation of our 100-year-old basement and turned a dank, cramped pair of rooms into a bright, functional space where my kids can play safely and I can work comfortably. They demo’ed an old kitchen, knocked out walls, built custom cabinetry and storage, rerouted piping and electrical components, even took time to experiment to make a match for the disrupted floor tiles. They painted the walls, painted and stained the steps, and did other projects like hang a new attic door and install a new toilet. I will be calling Champion exclusively for all my future home maintenance/improvement needs. Cannot recommend them enough.

House Cleaning Services in Bronx: Launch Your Search With HomeAdvisor

Handoff your cleaning jobs to the pros who can clean while you work, play, or take care of other obligations. Whether you’re searching for a twice-weekly housekeeper in Bronx or need a deep clean prior to putting your property up for sale, we make it easy to locate the best housekeeper.

Get access to a roster of housekeeping companies with just a few steps, starting with typing in your ZIP so we can match you with cleaning companies in your area. You can also answer standard queries about your residence or a certain housekeeping project, so we understand what type of service you hope to work with.

After you’ve done that, we’ll compile a list of cleaning businesses that are possible matches for your cleaning job. You may look at reviews and feedback for each pro on the site and even view photos of finished jobs to help pare down your search.

Armed with some basic information, you can proceed to hire a housekeeping company for your needs.

What Services Do Cleaning Businesses Provide

Companies that clean houses deliver a broad range of services, from focused cleaning to daily cleaning. The kind of service that’s best for you depends on why you’re looking to hire a housekeeping company to start with.

Day-to-Day Housekeeping Assistance

House cleaning businesses typically provide options to assist you in keeping up with housekeeping on a regular schedule. You may hire cleaning professionals to visit your home once a week or a few times a week to do basic home cleaning needs such as:

  • Mopping, vacuuming, and sweeping
  • Dusting and wiping down surfaces and countertops
  • Cleaning windows and walls
  • Cleaning and sanitizing tubs, sinks, and toilets

Many cleaning providers may even help with chores such as ironing or laundry.

In-Depth Cleaning To Prepare for the Holidays or Other Events

Lots of people schedule a cleaning company to prepare their home or other areas subsequent to a big event, move, home sale, or holiday. As an example, you may hire a home cleaning company to give your home a deep cleaning before the arrival of Thanksgiving guests or to be certain your home looks good before you list it with a real estate agent.

One-off home cleaning services usually go past everyday activities. Professional cleaners might:

  • Pull out kitchen appliances, such as refrigerators and stoves, to clean the area behind them.
  • Clean the baseboards, walls, and windows.
  • Use a pressure washer on driveways or walkways.
  • Tackle stains or other areas that typical cleaning might not catch.

Cleaning Services

Some cleaning companies provide specialty services. This can include washing a home’s exterior or cleaning lawns, swimming pools, or other structures that aren’t included in the actual house.

Self-Employed Housekeeper

  • Cheaper
  • Become familiar/comfortable with one person
  • More personalized service
  • May not be insured or bonded
  • May not have a recent background check
  • No supervisor to report a bad experience to

Professional Cleaning Service

  • Insurance and bonding usually guaranteed
  • Reliability
  • More expensive
  • May have multiple people in your home

  • Keeping your home clean is a task that never seems to end, and it can take up most of your free time. Instead of spending your weekends mopping and dusting, consider hiring a housekeeper or cleaning service.
  • Unless a housekeeper performs specific duties regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency or your state or local government, no specific licensing is usually required to become a housekeeper. However, you’ll want to work with a professional who can pass a background check and has a current business license, liability insurance and a surety bond. You’ll also want to select someone who has the experience and can provide references, or someone who has received some professional training from a cleaning company.
  • Keep in mind when hiring any type of professional to clean your home that each state has its own requirements for licensing. You can use Home Advisor’s Contractor Licensing Requirements State-By-State guide to learn more. You can also learn more about the extensive screening process we use when allowing businesses to join our network.

When you hire a housekeeper or cleaning service, there are some questions you’ll need to ask to ensure you’re hiring the right person for the job. Writing down a list of services you want to be completed is a great place to start. This way, you’ll have all the information you need when you do interview a housekeeper or cleaning service, and they can provide you with accurate information and cost estimates.

What Services Do You Offer?

Find out upfront if the housekeeper or cleaning company offers the services you need, especially if you have requests that go beyond basic services.

How Do You Come Up With Your Rates?

Do they charge a flat fee each week? Do they charge an hourly rate? Some companies charge based on your home’s square footage or the number of bedrooms you have.

Do You Provide Your Own Supplies?

Many companies may provide some smaller cleaning supplies, but they may need to use your vacuum cleaner or mop. Others bring their own or none at all. And if you’re particular about the types of chemicals used in your home, you may want to ask what products they use or if they’re willing to use what you provide.

What Happens if Something Goes Wrong?

Anytime you have a professional in your home, something could go wrong. They could get hurt, or some of your property may be damaged. Ask what would happen in these scenarios — a well-qualified professional will have the necessary insurance and bonding to cover these situations.

Finding The Best Apartment Cleaning Service

In most cities across the USA, including Bronx, NY and New York City, there are many opportunities for your business or home to become a bit dusty or cluttered. Cleaning problems are both a nuisance and a significant health hazard. Luckily, most cities are home to a multitude of cleaning services. There are corporate companies as well as private businesses that offer cleaning services and apartment cleaning Bronx. Making the right choice of the cleaning company to establish a long-term relationship with can be overwhelming.

How do you go about choosing the best cleaning service a city has to offer? Many factors go into choosing the right company for your needs. The following are some of the major considerations before you stick with a particular company.

Assessing Your Long Term Goals

You need to decide whether you would like to establish a relationship with an ad hoc home cleaning service. Some house cleaning companies are only good for one-time cleanings and no more. Others are ideal for developing long-term working relationships.

If you just want help with spring cleaning or cleaning out an old attic or an abandoned home, or would like to start fresh with one of your rooms, you will be probably better off with a NYC cleaning service or small company whose focus is one-time gigs.

On the other hand, if you have an apartment that is hard to maintain by yourself, you may wish to find a home cleaning company that can work on a set schedule. If you have a mid-sized apartment, a once a month cleaning schedule should be enough for you.

Creating A Budget

Not all house cleaning companies offer their services cheap. A good rule of thumb is that the more the expensive your schedule, the more you get out of it. Even though this might not be always true, it is a good idea to do some pricing research and be prepared to pay for the services you need.

Come up with a budget and always understand that the final decision depends on where you stand financially. Always remember that cleaning companies also have their savings and charges. Ensure that you always read the fine print before you sign any contract.

If you are looking to enter into a long-term relationship with the company, remember that you can get a good deal if you enter a recurring New York City cleaning service or contract. It never hurts for you to request a particular rate especially if you use the company’s services frequently.

Compiling References

Once you have come up with a shortlist of Bronx maid services and home cleaning companies based on how close they are to your apartment and if they fit into your budget, it is now time to compile references.

You can use many different ways to find out about the quality of a given company. One of the most effective is to find a previous client of the business and get an honest review. Reasons For Hiring A Professional Apartment Cleaning Service

It Makes Sense

Today, e-commerce has grown in leaps and bounds, and you can virtually order anything online and have it delivered straight to your doorstep. The professional cleaning industry has not remained behind, and it is possible to summon a cleaning company to handle your apartment management needs.

Professional cleaning services offer simple, safe, and sensible solutions. They empower many city dwelling residents all over the U.S. by providing reliable and professional cleaning service. Best of all you can get your apartment cleaned for as little as $100 per month.

Intensive Cleaning

If you are planning to clean your apartment, where do you start? How thorough can you get with the cleaning? Most apartment owners or renters will only focus on the problem areas and save the rest for ‘later’. Unfortunately, for them this ‘later’ never comes, and you find some areas unaddressed for so long that they collect dust.

Professional cleaners address every area of the living space no matter how big. They leave all fields in immaculate condition and pay close attention to walls, floors, mirrors, tabletops, and doors. They can also clean inside common household appliances and take out the recyclables and trash for you. Professional cleaners are expensive and thorough and never leave until they finish the job.

You Are Too Busy

Obviously you are. If it were not so, then you would probably not be here. An excellent Bronx cleaning serviceoffers customized service to all its clients. When doing the cleaning by yourself, it is hard to determine exactly how long some tasks will take. Even if you know, spending endless hours cleaning is simply an inefficient use of your time. You suffer a double loss – you dedicate much time towards an unenjoyable act and have little to show for all your efforts.

Save yourself money, time, heartbreaks, and headaches by hiring a professional cleaning service. All professional cleaning companies can handle you. You can choose from one-time, weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly cleaning services. The cleaning period takes on average 1½ to 3½ hours depending on the size of your apartment. Working with professionals helps you to plan and control your schedule better and masterfully.

The Best Equipment

Do you have all the right tools for the home cleaning Bronx job? This question only applies if you plan to go it solo. Professional cleaners come armed with all necessary cleaning supplies for fundamental cleaning tasks. Most of them use environmentally friendly cleaning agents to address all corners of your apartment without any assistance.

In a case of any particular tasks, you can alert the New York City or Bronx home cleaning service beforehand, and they will come fully equipped. If you are light on supplies or have just moved into your apartment recently, professional cleaners are a timely and perfect solution.

Reliability Consistently

The idea of allowing a complete stranger into your apartment can cause you some anxiety. Professional cleaning companies address this concern tactfully. They only hire experienced; reference& background checked, English speaking, and interviewed-in-person cleaners. Also, all cleanings booked through professional cleaning companies are bonded and insured.

How To Identify Low-Quality Cleaning Services: Red Flags

It is important for you to choose a reliable cleaning service. You might not necessarily have an excellent experience if you want the first cleaning service you come across or trust a complete stranger to come clean your apartment. You need to ensure that you choose a cleaning service that offers high-quality service, values its clients, and trains & vets its employees properly.

While assessing your goals, creating a budget, and compiling references based on reviews and ratings are great ways of identifying a good cleaning service, you also need to be on the lookout for low-quality cleaning services.

The following are some red flags to watch out for:

Online Presence

A reliable professional cleaning services Bronx should have an online presence. Even though not all small businesses have websites, they should at least have profiles on social media sites and local business directories showing any house cleaning work they have done. Use local business directories to get a comprehensive list of cleaning companies in your area along with their contact details. You can then call these companies to find out more about the services and prices.

Billing Problems

You must never use a Bronx cleaning company or Bronx maid services that has made billing errors in the past. You should be able to trust your cleaner to bill you accordingly for services rendered without making any mistakes.

Lack Of Courtesy

It is always good to work with a Bronx, NY or New York company that has polite and courteous workers. If you encounter several reviews claiming that the employees of a particular company are rude, it is best to avoid that business.

Incomplete Background Checks & Poor Training

When reading and obtaining reviews and references, watch out for any claims that a particular company uses employees that have undergone incomplete background checks and that are poorly trained.

These are some of the red flags to watch out for when choosing a cleaning company. A few negative reviews are nothing to worry about much so long as they do not mention any of the red flags above.

How Can You Get The Most Out Of An Apartment Cleaning Service?

Paying to get your apartment cleaned by professional cleaners Bronx is worth it. However, if you are not careful, you can end up overspending on these services. Paying for some professional cleaning services can be expensive. It is the reason you need to ensure that you get the most out of the services you are paying so dearly for. This is particularly true if you choose to spend more and expect to receive better quality service or have adopted a more comprehensive cleaning package. The following are some things you can do to ensure that cleaners do a good job in your apartment.

Communication

Communicate clearly to the cleaning company about your expectations. If you have any preferences, let the business know. Even though the company might have limits on what it can do, never hesitate to ask for additional services if needed or communicate how you would like your apartment cleaned. A cleaning service that values its clients should accommodate your interests.

Inquire About Quality Checks

A professional cleaning service Bronx should require its employees to conduct quick quality checks before leaving an apartment. The procedure needs to include checking different areas cleaned to ensure that no spot was missed. If the cleaning service you plan to use has no quality checks in place, then consider using a different service or inquire about how the company ensures that cleaners do a good job.

Inspecting Your Home From Time To Time

Take your time and check your home from time to time to see if it needs a house cleaning. If you discover that it is not as clean as it needs to be, contact the cleaning service. Never hesitate to give the company feedback or request that the cleaners do things slightly differently. Conversely, if you are satisfied with the quality of service, you should make it known to the cleaning service.

Inquiring About Additional Services

Most cleaning companies do much more than just scrubbing, mopping, and vacuuming. Some Bronx home cleaning services in Bronx, NY also do carpet restoration and shampooing, office cleaning, deep cleaning, waxing of hardwood floors, restoration services after a home has suffered damage, backyard cleaning, and some even restore and fix furniture. If you need help maintaining your apartment, then it is a good idea to consider using these additional services. If you already subscribe to the flat cleaning service, the cleaning company might offer you a discount.

Evaluating The Cleaning Plan You Have chosen

Your needs might change, or you may decide that you require additional maid services since you are not entirely satisfied with the current package. An excellent house cleaning Bronx service should be flexible enough to make you switch to a different plan or customize your existing one.

Conclusion

Using an apartment cleaning service can be the best way to keep your apartment clean without the need for putting your time or energy into cleaning each week. The right cleaning company Bronx or cleaning service Bronx can do much more than clean your home – it can transform your home into a more welcoming space, maintain your apartment, improve the quality of air that you breathe, and make it easier for you to find some free time to engage in other important activities. Take your time and research different cleaning companies and choose the one that meets your needs best.

It turned out that New York is located in the heart of the state of New York, where more than 22 million people live. The city is divided into five boroughs: Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island, each of which could, in principle, be a separate city. Especially Brooklyn, with a population of 2.5 million people. ..

Having taxied to Fives Avenue, Martynov smiled involuntarily.

Memories, memories… The best moments connected him with this city, especially with its main part – Manhattan. Here he learned to earn and be independent. In all other areas of the Big Apple, he survived and only learned the basics of independence. The reason for this surprising discrepancy lay, apparently, in the fact that most of the city’s population are immigrants from 180 countries of the world. No wonder New York is called the Capital of the World! In 2003, New York was one of the ten safest cities in the United States, and then, in 2000, everything was not so cloudless.

Having got out of the subway thanks to Flemmer and switched to a brand new Mustang, Martynov made a mistake that everyone makes who starts moving around the city not underground, but along its roads. There, in the shuffled subway cars, even with his eyes closed, he knew which way to go, and which one is better not to follow under any circumstances. Tired of driving on the very first day in his first personal car, Martynov suddenly discovered with surprise that he was not driving along the streets shining with lights with houses whose roofs are located high under the clouds, but past graffiti-painted concrete walls and huts hung with dirty linen. Ten minutes later, trying to find out where he was, Martynov received a Mustang shining with a baseball bat on the windshield with a baseball bat, and at that moment something told him that the title of Master of Sports of the USSR in boxing in this area would not work. So Andrey got acquainted with the Cross Bronx Expressway in the Bronx.

An hour later, Flemmer laughingly says to him:

– You should have stopped by Harlem and asked local guides to show you the sights! For example – in the quarter of El Brio! You won’t hear English at all!

Any kind of knowledge comes gradually, and a month later Martynov guessed why teacher Edwards, when he talked about the hospitality of New York, did not leave a smile as poisonous as arsenic. In addition to the Bronx and Harlem in New York, there is a whole list of places where, without a machine gun and a dozen bodyguards, both in the dark and in the daytime, it is better not to meddle. For example, Central Park, more precisely – the northern part of it. Robberies, rapes and murders happen every day in this “recreation area”. And according to an unwritten law, citizens who are not members of the gangs of New York, after five in the evening, the entrance to this zone is ordered.

Within six months of living in the Big Apple, Martynov learned all the rules of living and firmly settled in Manhattan. Life here was expensive in terms of expenses for the maintenance of housing and services, but life itself was guaranteed here, which was of decisive importance for Martynov then …

Now he was driving and looking at Manhattan. A lot happened to him in this city … Something didn’t happen, but if he didn’t find himself in it, would he then meet Masha and her son? These two dear people were in his head all the time he tried to convince himself of the need for a few hours of distraction to think about the main thing.

The office, which Martynov decided to visit first of all during his stay on the banks of the Hudson, was located on one of the most famous streets of the city – Tenth Avenue, in the western part of Manhattan. The skyscraper towering at its intersection with 13th Street was one of 48 famous New York skyscrapers. It’s the only one on this street.

Remembering the first teacher again, he laughed.

“Remember, Hans, a few truths,” said the alcoholic Edwards, calling all immigrants from Europe “Hans” for some reason, “which you need to remember for the first time! There are 48 skyscrapers in New York, and 16 of them are on Avenue of Americas, this is the first. Second: the only thing you’ve ever heard about America is the Empire State Building, but you’ve never seen it, it has 102 floors, was built in 1931 years in 16 months and is 1252 feet tall. 381 meters – according to you … And, finally, the third – do not ask in the USA what “chicken legs” are, fuck you! .. Nobody here has any idea about it! . .

did not like the time period from 1919 to 1932. He was always reluctant to talk about the era of Prohibition and immediately left the class for “one minute”, returning every time cheered up and ruddy. This blush seeped through the purple cheeks and testified to how much teacher Edwards was prone to mood swings.

However, I had to tear myself away from my memories… Andrey Martynov, aka Andrew Martenson, got out of the car and began to climb the steep steps to the mirrored doors, next to which was pinned a bronze plaque with traces of a recent purge. Sun glare did not interfere with reading what was squeezed out on it.

HAMMETT STARS. SPORTS BARGAIN

Part One

Chapter 1

General Cleaning

His appearance on the first floor of a thirty-five-story building did not surprise anyone. The security recognized him. And George, the negro kid, nodded briefly and smiled like an old acquaintance. Once upon a time, George was attacked by the lads from the Queens, and Martenson saw how the main principle “do not meddle in foreign territory” is defended in America. If a detachment of thugs from Tver arrived in Moscow or the same Novosibirsk and, without notice, began to put things in order with local debtors, he would be mercilessly beaten and driven into debt. Here, everything looked normal: people arrived from the Bronx and began to sausage the black man for pulling a girl from one of their acquaintances. They beat George in the back street of that same legendary 10th Avenue. Martynov, who first witnessed the daytime conversation of the security guard with the trio of newcomers, and then noticed how the security guard was leaving after his shift home with a tragic expression on his face, grinned and followed him. For some reason, he wanted to help the guy who kept saying “Mr” to him all the time …

At the very entrance to the port, George stopped his old Mustang and got out. Martynov with unlit headlights drove up from behind and stopped. When all this tops began and George began to be beaten hard and seriously, Martenson fell out of the car and slowly approached.

I had to shoot a couple of times: once up, the second time under the feet of a big-lipped white man, who, if painted lilac, would incredibly resemble a Sudanese. George was repulsed, the visitors were told that the next time the shooting would be aimed and frequent. Since then, George called Martynov “Mr. Andrew” and during the time that he walked past his huge table in the hall, he managed to tell all the news that had happened during the night in the building. Where did the rat run, on what floor did the pipe burst, and how much did Ice win in poker with Carter.

This time George whispered to Martynov that a month ago Malcolm had changed his face and ass to his receptionist. At the same time, he knew for sure that “Mister” would understand him…

The main headquarters of Hammett Stars was in Las Vegas. This is not surprising, since almost all commercial boxing fights are held there. However, in the late eighties, New York loudly declared its right to participate in the show, and several of the city’s best boxing arenas confirmed their willingness to organize fights at the level of Vegas. After that, able to quickly navigate the situation, Malcolm bought the last fifteen floors in the house at the intersection of the already mentioned streets and quickly got used to the local order. If the fights began to be held on the island of Newfoundland, Malcolm’s house would be there, if the pros pounded each other in Alcatraz prison, Malcolm would buy all the upper cells to set up his office. Andrey Martynov’s boss never rested on his laurels, he strictly followed the changes in the pulse of life.

Getting to know the Bronx: samsebeskazal — LiveJournal

Today I had an unexpected and fleeting acquaintance with a hitherto unknown area of the city called the Bronx. No, of course, I have already been here several times, but all the time by car and on the way somewhere. I have been to the zoo a couple of times. But in order to take a leisurely stroll through the streets, enjoy the beauty of the buildings, get to know the life of local residents better, this is the first time I have had with the Bronx. I did not prepare the route, did not study the Bronx areas in advance. I was in Manhattan, got on the subway, drove to the nearest station to the Bronx and went for a walk along its streets. What I worked up there, I suggest you look in this post.

2. My walk began on West 155th Street in Manhattan. At this point, Manhattan Harlem is connected by a bridge to the Yankee Village area in the Bronx. The river that the bridge spans is called the Harlem River. This is the view from the bridge. On the far left is Manhattan’s Washington Heights. The bridge in the distance is called the High Bridge and is the oldest surviving bridge in New York City. Built in 1848. It served as an aqueduct, and was part of the Croton system that supplied New York with drinking water. Now closed for renovation. To the left on the mountain is an old water tower. On the right you can see a building with a lighthouse on the roof.

3. The lighthouse is not real. The building was built in 1929 and belonged to the Wilson book publishing company, which installed it on the roof. The lighthouse symbolizes the light of knowledge. The owner of the building has changed more than once over the years, but the lighthouse still remains in its place.

4. The bridge on which I walked to the Bronx is also not an easy one. It’s called Macombs Dam, and it’s also historic. It is the 4th oldest surviving bridge in the city. It opened in 1895.

5. It also has an unusual design.

6. It is rotatable. The bridge stands on the island, and if necessary, rotates 90 degrees to allow ships to pass. This is apparently done so rarely that I could not immediately find a photo of this process.

7. The first thing that greets me in the Bronx is the Metro-Nord train tracks along the Harlem River. The road connects New York City with communities in the states of New York and Connecticut, and is considered the busiest railroad in the United States in terms of the number of passengers carried. This line goes towards Poughkeepsie, a city in the state of New York on the banks of the Hudson.

8. The Bronx did not prepare any welcome posters. Although they are in other places. There’s just a sign for the Bronx Museum of Art, and an exit onto a road called the Major-Deegan Expressway. It is named after Major of the US Corps of Engineers and local politician William Deegan.

9. And here is the expressway itself. As usual in a traffic jam. But we’re not here, we’re going deep into the Bronx.

10. The first building on the way is the Yankee baseball stadium. This is the second stadium, the first was built in 1923 and stood to the right, where the park is now. The new stadium was opened in 2009 at a cost of $1.5 billion. The capacity is 51,000 people, the old capacity was 57,000. On the right is one of the parking lots. The price tag at the entrance started from $ 35 and up for parking during the game.

11. Bas-reliefs from the old building hang on the facade of the stadium. An eagle with a baseball bat looks funny.

12. Baseball has never seemed to me something interesting, so let’s move on. The wide East 161st Street begins to the right of the stadium. We will move along it.

13. Immediately behind the stadium is a metro station that looks a bit like the station on Brighton Beach.

14. Although there are actually two stations here. The first was an elevated metro line, this one is already underground. They are called the same as the stadium.

15. Let’s move on. Interesting houses begin.

16. If you go up the stairs, you can see a massive building on the opposite side. This is the Bronx County Courthouse.

17. It was built in 1934 and is an excellent example of early 20th century imperial architecture.

18. All the attributes are here. And massive oppressive architecture. And brutal eagles on the facade.

19. And brutal sculptures in front of the entrance. It is impossible not to fall in love with such a building at first sight. I would like to throw up my right hand in greeting and minting step to go on.

20. Opposite, unexpectedly, there is a very romantic fountain.

21. Even more surprising is the fact that it was staged in honor of the German poet Heinrich Heine.

22. Behind the fountain is a green square in which the Bronx residents, exhausted from the heat, sit in the shade of trees.

23. The square and the courthouse are located on the street called Grand Concourse, one of the main streets of the Bronx. The prototype of the Grand Concourse was nothing more, nothing less, but the Champs Elysees in Paris. Only here everything was conceived still bigger and grander. And at the beginning of the 20th century, it was a truly luxurious street with the best examples of art deco and modern buildings. This time I passed by, but I will definitely have to come back and walk around this interesting place. In the meantime, let’s put aside the history of the Grand Concourse for the future and move on.

24. East 161st is replete with buildings of courts of various instances. The two buildings on the left are the courts and everything connected with them.

25. Juvenile justice service car.

26. A huge modern building called the “Bronx County Hall of Justice” is closed on the back side by a terrible fence.

27. And what will happen if you step aside from the noisy and crowded 161st?

28. Huge multi-storey buildings of social housing – prajects – will immediately begin here. For some reason this view reminded me of Moscow.

29. Prajects-Prajects-Prajects.

30. There was clearly a bridge here once, but now only the railings are left of it. Around only asphalt and concrete.

31. Many residents of the Prajects are doing well in life, and they indulge in their favorite pastime – doing nothing.

32. One of the distinguishing features of the Bronx was the signs hanging on almost all buildings and saying that the halls are patrolled by the police and violators will be arrested.

33. Go figure out if this is a resident or an intruder.

34. Numerous churches and faithful neighbors of social housing.

35. The Bronx also differs from the same Brooklyn or Queens in a large number of modern buildings.

36. And a large number of empty spots left from demolished and burnt houses. And there are new houses and wastelands in any other area of the city, but here there are somehow especially many of them.

37. Salvation Army. There’s a lot of her here too.

38. Street.

39. In place of many demolished houses, gardens and kitchen gardens were planted. It was the initiative of local residents, the city authorities did not interfere with it until the moment when they again needed this land. Then disputes and confrontations between the inhabitants and the authorities of the city began. Somewhere the inhabitants won and the gardens were formalized.

40. Even in the Bronx, the entrances of some houses are somehow especially seriously protected. All in bars, cameras and alarms.

41. I didn’t understand what kind of building this was. It looks like a prison, but there are no signs.

42. This is the 42nd local police station.

43. Tell me, did you imagine the Bronx like this? Me not.

44. In some places it can safely be called one of the most modern areas in New York outside of Manhattan.

45. College building.

46. Residential complex.

47. And behind the residential complex is the purpose of my visit. I twisted a little at the beginning, I still planned one place to visit myself.

48. If you have been reading my blog for a long time, you may recognize it. Not?

49. And so? This building is from a post about the destroyed New York. It impressed me even then and I wanted to see this place with my own eyes. Check out that post if you haven’t seen it yet.

50. True, disappointment awaited me here. There are no more destroyed buildings and burned cars. A new residential complex stands on the site of a wasteland.

51. The building still looks abandoned, but it is not. Inside, work is already in full swing, and soon it will be reconstructed.

52. The building was built for the Bronx Court in 1915.

53. Above the main entrance is a sculpture depicting Justice.

54. In 1943, the court moved to a new building, which you saw in this post above, and the criminal court moved into this building. In 1977, he also moved to a new building, but this was closed and abandoned due to the crisis. On the facade there is even a sign from those times, hung on the building under Mayor Edward Koch. Now the building was bought by a private investor and is reconstructing it for rent.

55. True, if you look around, you can see that not everything is so perfect.

56. You can even see some ruins behind one of the buildings.

57. This building is also visible in the old photo. It hasn’t changed at all.

58. Let’s go further.

59. An interesting artistic element on the corner of the building.

60. Empty spaces where old houses used to be.

61. On one of the buildings there was an advertisement for renting apartments. Double beds from 1,100 to 1,300 dollars. It is certainly cheaper than in other areas, but I would not live here.

62. The language of the announcements in the park, as a rule, indicates the national composition of the inhabitants. Can anyone tell me what the language is down there?

63. View.

64. Here is a building that looks new, but also boarded up. Most likely he has a problem with building permits.

65. Even in the Bronx there were such low social houses. Even prajectami their language does not dare to call. So prajectics.

66. Drawing on the school wall.

67. Opposite, excavators rumble and build new buildings of social housing. This means that in the ranks of parasites sitting on the neck of the state there will soon be an addition.

68. Advertisement offering to buy a car to a landfill without any documents.

69. Are there many abandoned houses in the Bronx? Not much, but they do.

70. But probably still more than in any other area of the city.

71. Surprisingly, survived wooden buildings come across. It seemed to me that everything was burned here. But perhaps this applies more to the South Bronx. We’re going north. The building on the right is some kind of Masonic house.

72. Another Salvation Army building. Looks like a former cathedral.

73. Everywhere cameras and announcements threatening punishment for loitering and illegal entry.

74. Another cast.

75. Local resident-loafer. The comb is a fashion accessory, he wears it stuck in his head.

76. The remains of the former luxurious life in the form of a Catholic church.

77. The school attached to the temple has now passed to other sections of the population.

78. An interesting inscription on the building.

79. Another abandoned house. It is interesting that where the windows are not clogged, someone lives. Even the light is on.

80.

81. Local hospital.

82. Even in the Bronx, social houses are not only in small buildings, but also in such old ones. So now the word prajekt has a much broader architectural meaning.

83. Street. There really isn’t much to shoot there. Endless identical houses on identical streets.

84. Shop with a portrait of the owners on the sign.

85. Local problems. Illegal garbage and poop cleaning after cat-like dogs.

86. There is a sign on the school saying it is a drug free zone. Judging by the fact that there was only one Spanish speech around, no one here needs its translation into English.

87. Are there parks in the Bronx? There are, but we bypass them and move on.

88. The synagogue is turning, the synagogue is turning into a Christian church. And this is not an isolated incident in the area.

89. Graffiti.

90. I almost passed by this church and did not notice.

91. But I decided to look at the plate and was surprised. What wind brought them here?

92. Fire department gate.

93. 48th police station. It seems that the architects of Russian police departments and American police stations are taught in the same university.

94. Information on the front says that the police have already confiscated more than 4,000 cars for drunk driving.

95. Here the area around completely deteriorated and turned into an industrial area with a railway in the center.

96. I saw another building of the Salvation Army and finally decided to go inside.

97. Inside it turned out to be an ordinary second-hand store.

98. Of the entire assortment, only this picture deserved attention.

99. Let’s move on. Former bank building.

100. Drawing on the wall of the medical center. Here is reflected another feature of the Bronx.

101. The locals are very fond of opening fire hydrants. The authorities don’t like it and they stick propaganda leaflets in two languages everywhere. There are two problems. The first is that the pressure in the line drops and this prevents firefighters from properly coping with their duties. The second is that a jet of water from an open hydrant pushes children onto the roadway under the wheels of cars.

102. Residents wanted to sneeze at these problems, so on some streets all hydrants are open at once, in the jets of which children frolic, and their parents wash their cars.

103. Sale of wheels.

104. In one place, a park with a beautiful staircase was discovered. I already imagined some old building on the top and began to climb up.

105. The stone staircase was unexpectedly painted with paint. And it’s horribly painted. I think this is an echo of the struggle of local authorities with graffiti. Tired of cleaning and just started painting over.

106. Nothing was found upstairs. Just a view of the projects. An Internet search yielded information that the Bronx Borough Hall used to stand here, which at 19It was demolished in 69 due to an emergency condition. It seems strange to us, but until the 70s of the last century, New Yorkers did not really think about their history at all and demolished everything. Because of this, the city has lost a lot of really beautiful buildings. The Borough Hall of the Bronx was certainly not the most beautiful of them all, but it was still better than a bare meadow with prajects.

107. The building opposite is remembered for its air-conditioned windows boarded up with plywood.

108. Street. The crowd stands in front of the city’s welfare office.

109. A street seller of either aromatic oils or perfumes. Pile of dirty perfume bottles.

110. These people surprised me. I least expected to see chess players here.

111. And there were many of them.

112. Opposite were regular loafers.

113. Hairdressing salon combined with love for baseball.

114. This is a night window. These are in all disadvantaged areas of the city.

115. Late in the evening they start trading only through the window. It is made of a spinning cube of thick plastic. Put money, twist, get the goods. This design was made so that the robber could not put a gun in the window.

116. Finally the Bronx took pity on me and showed his true nature.

117. The demo was a New Jersey Mercedes abandoned on a back street.

118. The windows all around were shot through. Mercedes itself was looted, though very superficially. I was the only person on the street who marveled at such a picture. The rest were surprised that I was surprised and running around with a camera.

119. Four hours in 30-degree heat finally finished me off and I realized that I had to go towards the house. On the way next prazhekty.

120. Curtain.

121. Dovecote on the roof.

122. Stairway to heaven.

123. Cross Bronx Expressway. The road divided the area into two parts, and became one of the reasons for the deterioration of the social situation in the south of the Bronx.

124. Metro line.

125. Yard.

126. View of Manhattan.

127. This is the farewell view from the Washington Bridge.

128. Another of the oldest bridges in New York. It was opened in 1888.

129. This is a 40-story residential complex River Park Towers. These are not prajects, but housing in it is also social.

Sustainable South Bronx

0627 (SSBx) is a non-profit personal development and environmental justice solutions organization in New York City’s South Bronx borough, founded by Major Carter in 2001. [2] Today it is a division of the Brooklyn-based human resources development organization, The HOPE Program. [3]

The organization spearheaded the creation of Riverside Park Hunts Point, the first part of the projected South Bronx Greenway. [4] This organization also pioneered the development of a “green roof” in the South Bronx with its own commercial installation company, SmartRoofs, LLC, and began a green collar vocational training program called the Bronx Environmental Stewardship Program (B. E.S.T.), which prepares city dwellers for areas such as environmental remediation, hazardous waste cleaning green roof installation and maintenance, urban forestry and landscaping; program placement level is 90% after four years of operation. [5] They also propose an eco-industrial complex in the Bronx as an alternative use for a piece of land on which the city government is currently planning to build a prison, and are developing “a collection of businesses in which the waste and by-products of one factory are the raw materials for another”. [2]

In 2005, SSBx built the “Cool and Greenroof Demonstration Project” above their offices in the historic American Banknote Building, the first such rooftop in New York City. In 2007, SSBx launched the commercial green roof installation business SmartRoofs, LLC.

Today, SSBx still runs a robust 12-week environmental workplace training program (formerly called Bronx Environmental Stewardship Training (BEST), now called Sustainable South Bronx. Training topics range from landscaping, energy auditing, green infrastructure, OSHA certifications and BPI and more. [6] This program focuses on economic empowerment of the community through training, employment, and career growth while contributing to the environmental sustainability of New York City.SSBx also runs two temporary employment programs that provide participants with on-the-job training, valuable experience and fair pay for their work. CoolRoofs hires New Yorkers to cover New York City rooftops with reflective material, reducing building energy consumption and reducing the Urban Heat Island Effect. Intervine , SSBx Social Enterprise, trains and hires low income community members to build and maintain green infrastructure.

Getting to know the Bronx – Samsebeskazal

26. A huge modern building called the Bronx County Hall of Justice is closed off from the back by a terrible fence.

27. And what will happen if you step aside from the noisy and crowded 161st?

28. Huge multi-storey buildings of social housing – prajecty – will immediately begin here. For some reason this view reminded me of Moscow.

29. Prajects-Prajects-Prajects.

30. There was clearly a bridge here once, but now only the railings are left of it. Around only asphalt and concrete.

31. Many residents of Prajekts are doing well in life, and they indulge in their favorite pastime – doing nothing.

130. The most common word used in the news, along with its name, is drug dealing. It also has some insane number of apartments – about 3,000.

131. This is the University Heights Bridge. It’s almost the twin of the Macombs Dam bridge that I used to enter the Bronx. Behind it you can see the bend of the Harlem River, where Manhattan Island just ends.

132. And this is the Washington Bridge, through which I returned to Manhattan.

That’s all for today. As always, thanks for your attention.
