8 simple tricks that will make the neck visually longer

Brigitte Macron

Among the anatomical features of the figure, there are those that, in fact, are not flaws at all, but are considered by the public to be flaws due to the influence of trends and stereotypes, which, moreover, actively fueled by poets, artists and (to be honest) journalists. The most common targets are small eyes, thin lips and a short neck. About the latter – a special conversation. There has long been a myth in the beauty industry that a long neck is good, and a short one is bad. Why is not clear, but the very fact of the “lack of a neck” among public figures often becomes an object of ridicule and gossip. Now most often goes to the first lady of France Brigitte Macron and American actress Chloe Moretz. Both indeed have relatively short necks and straight broad shoulders, which only exacerbate the situation. But both eventually learned to masterfully cope with the problem, and now they are teaching us. We talk about a few simple tricks that can visually lengthen the neck.

Short hair

Chloe Moretz, 2014

Chloe Moretz, 2010

Do you feel like your neck is not long enough? You can try shortening your hair! If haircuts “under the boy” are too radical an option for you, then a bob will also perfectly cope with the task of lengthening the neck, including elongated strands near the face. In any case, it’s definitely not worth hiding an imaginary “flaw” under the hair. Brigitte Macron, for example, chose her perfect bob haircut as a teenager, and Chloe Moretz decided to change in 2010 – and it was really a coup.

Ponytail and high bun

Chloe Moretz

Chloe Moretz

If parting with your hair is not in your plans, try to make a high hairstyle. Both a careless bun and an original styling with gathered hair will perfectly cope with the task, which will also divert attention from the neck. A high ponytail, however, is also suitable: just look how Chloe Moretz made it, and how it (along with the “correct” neckline, of course) lengthened her neck.

V-neckline

Brigitte Macron

Brigitte Macron

The classic V-neckline will also help visually correct the problem area. Look for everything you usually wear with him: T-shirts, jumpers, dresses. The same effect can be achieved if you do not fasten the top two buttons of a blouse or shirt. The secret is that this shape of the neckline visually lengthens the neck, creating a visual illusion (for how to do a similar trick with your own figure, read the material “Visual illusions in clothes: how to look a couple of sizes slimmer”).

Turn-down collar

However, more than one neckline can “fix” a short neck – turn-down collars will also come to the rescue. Do not fasten shirts and blouses to the end: a pair of buttons unbuttoned at the collar will also create the desired effect and will work no worse than a deep neckline.

Long necklaces and chains

Chloe Moretz

Chloe Moretz

Another life hack that will stretch your neck is long necklaces, beads and chains. A few strands of pearls, ethnic-inspired jewelry, pendants, pendants, and everything that is in abundance in jewelry stores and jewelry lines will do the job perfectly. A long decoration works on the same principle as a V-neck paired with a turn-down collar – they visually lengthen the upper part, and the previously popular chokers, on the contrary, visually shorten even the most swan neck.

Remove the scarf (or tie it properly)

Brigitte Macron

Brigitte Macron

The easiest and most effective way to visually lengthen the neck is to simply get rid of the scarf. Of course, not in winter: your health is much more important than the pursuit of an imaginary ideal of beauty. In spring and warm autumn, tie your favorite scarf around the handle of the bag, and in the cold season, when you can’t do without a muffler, look at lighter options for scarves and shawls, without wrapping yourself in tight rows of large-knit fabric or knitwear. Remember that visually your neck will start from the bottom of the scarf, and the lower it is, the longer your neck will appear.

Pastel shades

Brigitte Macron

Brigitte Macron

Among the wide palette of pastel shades – from light beige to caramel blue – it is easy to find the one that really suits you. However, if dessert shades are not your favorite range, you should not despair: pay attention to the bleached versions of colors that are already familiar to you. Deep dark colors can serve as an anti-example here: look how warm peach hue lengthened Brigitte’s neck and how black “stole” her.

elongated earrings

Chloe Motz

Chloe

It is better to refuse large accent earrings – no matter how fashionable and relevant the statement earrings are, too massive and catchy options will make the distance from the ears to the shoulders even less and only attract the unceasion attention. But elongated earrings – for example, drop earrings, threads or thin chains – will cope with our task with a bang.

We share with you how to wear a scarf to look stylish and elegant.

Content of article

If two thousand years ago a scarf was tied solely to protect against the cold, today this universal accessory gives a lot of opportunities to change your image. It looks appropriate with almost any outfit and harmonizes with different styles. Read about how to tie a scarf beautifully in our material.

Types of scarves

Becoming an integral part of every woman’s wardrobe, this practical accessory has managed to add to the list of all-season items. A scarf is worn in the cold and warm season, complementing the bow or focusing on it. But these garments differ not only in seasonality, but also in shape, length and material of manufacture. Before you learn how to tie a scarf beautifully, we offer you to get acquainted with its varieties.

Stole

ADVERTISING – CONTINUED BELOW

The cape, at least half a meter wide and over two meters long, won the hearts of fashionistas, who received products with fur, fringe, ruffles, patterns and lace from the designers. This scarf can be tied on the head or left on the shoulders, neck and even the waist. To create an elegant look, girls pin up the stole with a brooch or pin.

Shawl

Literally, the name of this item is translated from Persian sal as “a blanket made of woolen fabric”. The production of the first shawls began in the 15th century in Kashmir, in northwestern India. For centuries, goats were bred there with the most delicate wool, from which the thinnest bedspreads were woven. You will be surprised, but in those days men knew how to tie scarves! Yes, the shawl was an item of men’s clothing.

Later in France, it was popularized by Napoleon’s first wife, Josephine Beauharnais, whose collection included about 400 shawls, each of which could be threaded through a gold ring. We willingly believe that she knew how beautifully to tie a scarf not only around her neck. The Empress wore shawls on her dresses, used them as a bedspread, and even made a bed for her dog.

Snood

Once breaking into our wardrobe, a round scarf has not left it for several decades. The history of the thing began with a headband made of nets and ribbons, which was used to decorate complex hairstyles. Over the years, the product has been transformed, and soon the comfortable, warm and practical collar became the favorite of many girls. It is ideal for wearing on top of jackets, coats and sheepskin coats. And snood will be a great solution and a worthy replacement for a headdress if you don’t like hats. And it’s not at all necessary to know how to beautifully tie a scarf with it – its ends are already sewn.

Arafatka

This product is mainly worn by Arba men. It owes its name to the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, who spoke from TV screens in an intricately tied headscarf covering his head, and its origin is keffiyeh. Cotton is more common in this shawl with a supportive hoop, but there are also woolen keffiyeh and with the addition of synthetic fabrics. The convenience and practicality of the accessory was appreciated not only by residents of the Arab countries, who save their faces from the hot sun and sandstorms, but also by fashion fans.

Kerchief

When the kerchief migrated from the national headdress of many peoples to a modern stylish accessory, one can no longer remember. Nowadays, a piece of fabric in the shape of an isosceles triangle has spread throughout the world, and a woman has long known how to tie this airy, almost weightless scarf around her neck, weave it into her hair and tie it on her handbag. With a luxurious selection of colors and patterns, you can create many looks!

Baktus

Before us is another kind of triangular scarf designed to protect the neck and chest from cold wind and cold. He came to us from the national costume of Norway, where they know how to beautifully tie a scarf both over clothes and under it, depending on the presence of a collar and hood. Most often, an elegant accessory is knitted or crocheted by hand. By the way, the thing can be found in women’s, men’s and children’s wardrobes.

Skeiche

Introducing the combination of a classic scarf and a stand-up collar with button or zip fastening. Original, practical and no need to worry about how beautifully to tie such a collar scarf. It is enough to fasten a zipper or buttons to keep your neck warm. But it can also be worn unbuttoned, simply folded over the chest, over and under outerwear, and even with another tied scarf.

Boa

This is the name of a fur strip or whole skin of a small furry animal, lying on the shoulders of ladies and giving chic to the image. This accessory was popular at the beginning of the last century. It can be worn not only with a coat or leather jacket, but also combined with evening dresses, a sweater and a turtleneck to make the look richer and more expressive. A great addition to any style of clothing other than sportswear, and there is no need to guess how to tie such a scarf beautifully. It is luxurious in itself!

Pareo

A light beach cape made of thin fabric has also joined the ranks of scarves for a long time. A flowing scarf of various colors is sewn from linen, silk, chiffon and cotton. Often the product is decorated with an eye-catching pattern. Pareo not only looks aesthetically pleasing, but also protects the skin from the hot sun and hides figure flaws. The scarf can be beautifully tied both on the head and transformed into a skirt, top and stylish sundress.

Poncho

A rectangular piece of fabric with a hole in the center for the head was once a traditional Latin American garment. And today, a scarf and a poncho in one bottle will be a good find for creating an image and giving the image completeness and nobility. Designers offer a wide range of wraps for shoulders – from warm versions with necklines to spring ones with a touch of sophistication and summer ones with decor. You can wear such a scarf both over a sweater and with an elegant knitted dress. The outfit will become more solid and feminine.

But it is important to tie the scarf correctly so as not to harm either the child or yourself. For a sling, you will need a long and wide scarf, and we will teach you how to tie it beautifully.

Find the middle and apply it to the lower back. We bring the ends forward and in turn throw each over the opposite shoulder. We repeat the same thing from behind, then we draw the ends of the scarf through the loops at the waist and tie the tails into one knot. We complete the sling – we adjust the space in front so that the child can easily fit there. The baby should not sag or dangle.

Hide the knots under the fabric.

18. Tie-like scarf

Throw the product around your neck and fold one half of the scarf behind the other. Pass it through the resulting loop from the outside to the inside and align the knot. If you are tying a scarf for a woman, then it is better to leave the knot at chest level.
