Mrs. Cynthia’s Daycare

As a first time mom, I knew it would be one of the hardest things leaving my son to go back to work after maternity leave. It was my number one priority to find someone trustworthy, loving, caring, and knowledgeable to take care of him. Cynthia encompasses all of those things and so much more! Itwas evident from the moment we met her how much she truly loves what she does and goes above and beyond to provide the best childcare. She has loved our little boy like he is her own. She eased my worries from day one and has taken such amazing care of him. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for childcare!…

Wiggles ‘n Giggles Home Childcare

I have known Kelly since 2002 and worked as her daycare assistant twice. Kelly has an amazing set up for her in-home daycare where kids flourish by her teaching. It’s not just babysitting!! When I was employed there we taught preschool doing the daily weather, days of the week, reading, song timeand many other activities that engaged children in learning to prepare them for Kindergarten and the rest of their life. We also prepared curriculum and taught the kids their letters, numbers, colors etc.
Since leaving her facility and becoming a stay-at-home Mom, I’ve personally toured several in-home daycares and none compare to hers. She’s amazing!…

Living Well Christian Child Care

My daughter started here when she was about 6 months old. The daycare I had her in previously was not working for us – she would come home clearly unhappy. There was a drastic change in her mood after starting her at Living Well – she was SO much happier. She is now 18 months old and has a smile onher face every morning when we walk in and every afternoon when I pick her up. The staff is wonderful and easy to communicate with. We are so grateful to have found them – as a parent it is so important to have peace of mind when leaving your child is someone else’s care, and we have certainly found that at Living Well. Thank you so much to the teachers and staff for everything you do!…

My Philosophy:
I believe all children are precious and a gift from God. They deserve to be loved, cared for, and taught morals and values that will benefit them in their future. Children need to be nurtured and should be taught the basic fundamentals of everyday living. They should feel safe in their environment and feel free to express themselves. I believe in teaching academics from the beginning of life. I strive to teach each child to be a student of excellence. Every child should be praised for good behavior and encouraged to do their best. We build each other up through teamwork and cheering each other on. Children learn by music, color, dance, arts and crafts and most important by example….

WELCOME

Dear WCPS Parents and Prospective Parents,

Welcome to the WCPS website. We are very proud of our program and its long history of supporting children to become life-long learners.

WCPS follows accreditation requirements of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and holds a 3 Star Rating with the state of Tennessee. Our loving and devoted staff work diligently to envelop our children in a loving Christian atmosphere while providing each child a developmentally appropriate early learning experience. We are blessed to spend our days nurturing a love of learning –  intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and spiritually.

Our inspiration is rooted in our belief that children are competent learners, that teachers are companions on the learning journey and the environment is an important prompt through which teachers, parents and the community engage children in the joy of exploration and experiences.

Our children are always encouraged to try new things, think out of the box, succeed, fail, regroup and try again. When we applaud the process, respect the effort and value the work as accomplishment, we teach children the importance of trial and effort. At the same time, we provide emotional support through applause, encouragement and modeling healthy relationships. Quality early childhood education is a well-tuned balance of challenging and lovingly supporting children.

Please visit the various pages herein to learn more about our program, our goals and mission, and how your child can benefit from our nurturing approach to learning.

Yours Truly,

Martha Brothers Duff, Director

Purpose & Philosophy

Woodmont Christian Preschool (WCPS) operates as an outreach of Woodmont Christian Church (WCC).  WCPS seeks to reach and minister to the children and families in the community by offering a high quality weekday preschool program.  WCC strives to strengthen the lives of the preschool families by providing opportunities for involvement through the family, children and women’s ministries.

The foundation of Woodmont Christian Preschool’s educational philosophy is the development of the whole child. The intellectual, social/emotional, creative, physical and spiritual growths of the child are all of equal importance.

WCPS provides developmentally appropriate preschool experiences designed to help each child develop:

·  Intellectually by encouraging an enthusiasm for learning through exploration and hands-on experiences.

·  Social/ Emotionally by encouraging participation in group activities, getting along with others and developing a feeling of security and belonging.

· Creatively by encouraging children’s imagination and supporting expression of their thoughts and ideas.

· Physically by encouraging experiences that develop large and small muscle coordination and motor skills.

·  Spiritually by providing a chapel experience and by integrating a biblical worldview throughout the curriculum and learning environment. Christ-centered character qualities are modeled through the love of our staff and the responses given to the children in our care. Bible stories, songs, and prayer give children an awareness of God’s love for them.

Each child is a unique gift from God and is encouraged to progress at his or her own rate. The nurturing atmosphere provides a backdrop that allows children to feel confident as they experiment, make mistakes and discover their abilities. The stimulating, child centered setting offers a safe and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn self-discipline and have the opportunity to make good choices.  Experienced and devoted teachers create challenging opportunities for children, inspiring them to love learning.

Statement of Faith

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) advocates freedom and respects diversity.   Over the years, Woodmont has served as a “bridge church” or a common ground for people and families with diverse denominational backgrounds.  At Woodmont Christian Church, we worship God as revealed through Jesus Christ in an atmosphere of joy and reverence. Just as our spire reaches toward heaven, we aspire to reach toward God. Finding unity within our diversity and guided by the Holy Spirit, we seek to serve with excellence, both as a Church and as individuals, through compassionate ministries to people in need, providing opportunities for spiritual growth, careful stewardship of all our gifts and of God’s creation and bringing others to Christ by sharing the Gospel of faith, hope and love in our words and actions.

WCPS is a Christian preschool, believing in the truth and relevance of the Bible. We are all created in God’s image and WCPS accepts all persons.  We are  called to love all and WCPS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of educational policies, admissions policies or behavioral policies.

Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these. Mark 12:31

Woodmont Christian Church provides an opportunity for the 3, 4 and 5 year-old children of Woodmont Christian Preschool to attend a chapel service in the church sanctuary. The weekly fifteen-minute chapel service is led by a Woodmont Christian Church staff member. The chapel experience is designed to encourage spiritual development by offering an age appropriate opportunity for children to grow spiritually. Teachers accompany the children during the chapel service in the sanctuary. Parents are welcome to attend the service with their children.

The new Orthodox kindergarten will be the second in Nizhny Novgorod

Read us at

An Orthodox kindergarten in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov opens in the Moskovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, on Shalyapin Street, with the blessing of Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, with the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Ministry of Education of the region as part of the Demography national project.

Furniture, toys, interactive whiteboards and other equipment for classes – everything is ready to receive children. The playrooms and bedrooms have underfloor heating. Moreover, in the kindergarten they say that if one of the children does not want to sleep, he can play quietly – there will be no coercion.

Walking areas with bright equipment – rubber coating. Landscaping work is currently being completed.

The kindergarten paid special attention to safety. Surveillance cameras are installed, there are locks on the windows that can only be opened with a key, there is a fire alarm, a smoke removal system.

– We are overwhelmed with joy from the forthcoming opening of the kindergarten, – shared today, August 11, director of the institution Irina Lapshina. – We hold meetings with parents and children, we see the enthusiastic eyes of the children.

Irina Lapshina explained that children are accepted from the citywide queue, but a conversation is held with parents: is their decision to bring the child to an Orthodox kindergarten mutual, do they understand which kindergarten their child will start going to.

The new kindergarten will accept 150 children aged one and a half years. The main general education program “From Birth to School”, which meets all the requirements of the federal state educational standard, will be supplemented by an Orthodox component. Each group has an Orthodox corner with children’s books. The children will take part in productions for Christmas, Easter, the Day of the Myrrh-Bearing Women and other Orthodox holidays. A large hall is equipped for events in the kindergarten.

“From the age of one and a half, children will be involved in the atmosphere of the Orthodox calendar,” explained Archpriest Evgeny Khudin, head of the department of education and catechesis of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese.

The kindergarten will have a confessor appointed by the ruling bishop.

– The main thing for us is to bring up children in love, warmth, kindness, in Orthodox traditions,” Irina Lapshina emphasized.

Groups are being formed now. There are still free places. August 14 is the official opening, and next Monday the kindergarten will receive the first pupils. Groups will be filled gradually so that the children get used to it, and the teachers can give each of them maximum attention.

The new Orthodox kindergarten will be the second one in Nizhny Novgorod. Earlier, Orthodox kindergartens named after St. Sergius of Radonezh in Arzamas, named after St. Seraphim of Sarov in the Resurrection Deanery, and a kindergarten “Peresvet” on Bor were opened. There are no empty seats. According to Archpriest Yevgeny Khudin, Orthodox kindergartens are in great demand.

Earlier, Pravda-nn.ru reported that a new kindergarten for 320 children was being built in the Prioksky district of Nizhny Novgorod.

90,000 Bear was born with Down syndrome. Mom left, but dad stayed

Yevgeny Anisimov could not leave his son. When I heard the diagnosis at the maternity hospital, life turned upside down, but a single father from Volgograd does not consider himself a victim. He talks about his life with his son in the blog “YazhPat and the Fighter Mishka”.

“Zhenya, you’re a good guy”

In August 2018, right after Misha’s birth, in the kitchen of a rented Moscow apartment, Evgenia’s father-in-law said:

– Zhenya, of course, you’re a good guy, and Sveta loves you very much, but she loves to educate you such a child is difficult. You play father for two years, then you leave her, and she will get used to the child.

Five days later, after the results of the examination, another conversation took place in the doctor’s office:

– Why are you alone, without a spouse?

– She doesn’t need such a child.

– And you?

– But I need it, – Evgeny said, clenching his teeth.

Black blot on a white canvas

Evgeniy remembers the first meeting with his son: “We chose partner childbirth. I arrived at the maternity hospital, it was already evening, I changed into hospital clothes – a gown, a cap. Went into the room. So spacious, everything is so clean, medical, and bright something ahead. I think they are professionals here, my task is only to support my wife.

Then they ask me to go behind the screen, and then Mishka appears! We came up with a name beforehand. Such a lump of pale pink and such a special squeak. They put him on a diaper, with sharp skillful movements they check the arms, legs, head.

And such a dry phrase: “I have bad news for you, your child has a suspicion of Down’s syndrome.”

That’s right – my heir was born, and this phrase, like black paint blurted out on a white canvas. All some of my thoughts that I wanted to draw, and now this blot, and live with it.

I mentally cling to the word “suspicion”, I think it’s not a syndrome, some kind of nonsense. I remembered a biology textbook and there was a picture – a guy with dripping saliva and a stupid expression in his eyes.

I took Mishka in my arms and for some reason remembered my dad, we gave birth in 2018, and dad left in 2016. I look – well, right dad. Then he left the maternity hospital on wadded legs, August, such a warm day, walked away a little and roared.

Everything was divided

Evgeny remembers the first days after Misha’s birth:

“Messages started from my wife: “I’m not ready for such motherhood”. Then it turns out that the son has pneumonia. He is transferred to another hospital, but his wife is not transferred with him. Her parents arrived, we had two camps in a one-room apartment, while we were waiting for the results of the examination, everything was already divided.

My parents took care of my daughter, and I started visiting my son. Came and looked. Misha is sleeping, he has a needle sticking out of his head.

I served in the army, and there is a package there – it is an indicator that you are loved outside the perimeter, you are remembered, there are people to whom you are dear. And when I came to my son, brought creams, diapers, bodysuits, it reminded me of sending to the army. I wanted my son not to be in the state. I still remember – I bought a special soap, I’ll wash everything, I won’t have time to dry, I dried it at work, and in the evening I went to the hospital.

About a month as a wadded went. I have to go to work – I go, I need to go to Mishka to the hospital – I go. Divorce, I think, is secondary, you need to decide on your son.

I bought tickets for my mother: “Come, I won’t leave my son no matter what your decision is.”

But one does not want to live on a minor theme for a long time. Misha needs my life, we must move on. They told me in the hospital: “You can leave your son for six months until you decide on everything. ” No, I think it’s some kind of garbage, the same orphanage. He will be raised at home.

I left for work on maternity leave, and then Misha and my grandmother returned from Moscow to Volgograd.”

Nobody but us

Zhenya started blogging “YazhPat and the Fighter Mishka”:

“November 26, 2018. First walk with my son. Excitement, pride and joy – these are the three emotions that were my companions that evening. Mikhail behaved with dignity … well, how with dignity? He fell asleep immediately.”

“Every long journey starts with the first step. The search for God is something personal, intimate, and not always quick. August 23, 2019year we baptized Misha. His journey has begun!

“October 8, 2019. When we meet friends on the street for a walk with Mishka, I often hear: “How calm/smiling/curious.” I read labels in these conclusions. Friends, Mishka is different: curious and lazy, inquisitive and active, cheerful and capricious! We adults are all different, and they, children, too.

“July 11, 2020. The best adviser to me is my fighter Mishka! I just have to turn on all my sensitivity, intuition and attentiveness and … follow. Make sure that the fighter, in addition to sleep, walks, food and development, has a childhood. The usual happy childhood. Where there is a yard war with sprinklers, swings, where, if you really want, then cartoons – you can! And also discoveries: that the cat does not eat washing powder, and there is definitely a connection between the timbre of the grandmother’s voice and the sound of the wallpaper coming off.”

“August 2, 2020. There are no impossible tasks, as they say, there are landing troops! And no one but us! It’s funny, both slogans are so close to my beliefs” (from the blog “YazhPat and the fighter Mishka”).

Mom came back and disappeared again

“I thought,” Zhenya continues his story, “that everything on the other side was torn and forgotten. A lot of people began to help me, different organizations. I have always been active in Volgograd.

Blog started. For what? To show that I am not broken, we live and everything is fine with us. When I made the decision, I didn’t know what would happen to my son, but I couldn’t let him into the mainstream of orphanages.

In Moscow I went to Downside Up. I saw a large number of children with Down syndrome there, for me it was life-saving. I saw what kind of sunny children they are, naive big children for life. And they are developing, they are not mentally retarded, that was important.

I thought that I had put an end to my ex-wife. But I was wrong.

When I received a message in Mishkiny for three years: “We need to talk,” I thought: “I wonder what topic?”

We met. The ex-wife says: “I want to restore relations with my son.” I understand that this plot is right for her and necessary for her son.

I take a break, it was stressful for me, such a meeting. But we agreed where to meet. Misha is with me in the room. The former wife of a speech therapist, she prepared, but at that time it was completely out of topic.

Meetings have begun. For two hours in the evening two or three times a week, in four weeks he was relatively used to it. He already went to kindergarten then and perceived her as a teacher.

But on the eve of Misha’s next birthday, she suddenly disappeared. And he hasn’t been in contact for two months. I even thought something happened, but no, he writes on social networks.

I don’t interfere with the relationship between mother and son, but I have resentment for Misha. He still has such an age that he did not have time to become attached. But what is he, a toy? Now I need to work out a strategy in case of a new call.”

Goes his own way

“Mishka is in his fifth year,” says Zhenya. – We are growing, maturing, yes, we are lagging behind, but everything is fine.

I work in the power industry, I spend my evenings and weekends with Mishka. In the morning I take him to the kindergarten, I go to work, back in the evening, he is already with his grandmother – we pick him up in the afternoon. The function of the mother is performed by the grandmother. I have a finger on the pulse about classes, some walks, meetings, regime moments at my grandmother.

I want to confidently say that I accepted Mishkin’s diagnosis and accepted his future, which will be different from others. I understand that unpleasant surprises can await me, but I communicate with him like with an ordinary child.

Just the father of just a child. Ordinary family, it happens.

From the blog “YazhPat and the fighter Mishka”: “August 28, 2020. Two years ago, both Mishka and I stepped into a new world. Alice, how deep is the rabbit hole?

What would I like to say to myself two years ago? I don’t know, maybe I should just shake my hand. He, Eugene, made the right choice from 2018. Although, in fact, he didn’t have a choice.
