Purpose and Structure
First Presbyterian Preschool operates as a community service ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
It is not a full-time day care center, but an age appropriate setting is provided for play and learning as an extension of the home. Classes are open to children age 2 and to those not yet in kindergarten by August 15.
First Presbyterian Preschool’s primary focus is to provide children a safe space to develop social skills, physical abilities, and emotional understanding while also affirming each child’s important place in the family of God. The curriculum is planned around units common to preschools, and the Christian perspectives pervade every aspect of the program.
Curriculum
As with any preschool, First Presbyterian’s teachers work with the children on letter and number recognition, writing, sight words, science, and math.
We follow a theme based curriculum that also incorporates Bible stories and Christian songs into the weekly instruction. Since we are a faith-based preschool, First Presbyterian Preschool observes all Christian holidays and traditions.
As a licensed preschool, we also teach developmentally appropriate personal safety as approved by the Department of Human Services.
Hours of Operation and Schedule
First Presbyterian Preschool is open Monday-Thursday from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM.
We do offer Extended Stay until 2:00 PM for all age groups. The cost of this service is $10/day.
The preschool adheres to city and county school holidays and snow days. The preschool is closed on all scheduled county in-service and early dismissal days.

Registration and Fees
Registration
First Presbyterian Preschool’s 9 month school year runs from September-May. We require an annual registration fee of $85 and pre-placement visit to secure your child’s space for the 36-week school year.
We also charge an annual supply/event fee of $40, paid in September of each year.
Children are admitted on a first come, first serve basis within the following priority confines:

- Junior group in the name of the Kasperovskaya Icon of the Mother of God
- Middle group in the name of St.
Sergius of Radonezh - Senior – preparatory to school (different age) group in the name of the right-believing Prince Mikhail of Tverskoy

Our main goal
is to form in children an Orthodox worldview, a conscious desire for the ideals of goodness and truth, and also to preserve and support the individuality of the child
Children’s education
CHUDOO “Tver Orthodox Kindergarten” implements the main general educational program of preschool education in accordance with the federal state educational standard for preschool education.
Priority direction of spiritual and moral education of preschool children, in accordance with the Standard of the Orthodox component of preschool education, approved by the Department of Religious Education and Catechization of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Physical education
The improvement of children and the formation of their habits of a healthy lifestyle are successfully implemented in the conditions of functioning: a hall for physical education, outdoor sports grounds, herbal medicine
Music hall
Music hall in our common kindergarten to the art of music and the development of musical and artistic activity among pupils.
Music classes are regularly conducted by an experienced music director who is attentive to each child.
In this way, one of the main directions of our activity is realized – the harmonious versatile development of children, their orientation towards the spiritual creative realization of individual abilities and abilities
house church
The house church of St. Divine liturgies and prayer services are regularly performed in the church. Also, educational work on spiritual and moral education is carried out in the temple.
Taking into account the specifics of the kindergarten, a spiritual guardian, Priest Dimitry Kulkov, was appointed, who not only serves in the church, but also actively works with children (worship services, participation in holidays, classes with children), with teachers (seminars, conversations and consultations), with parents (conversations, consultations, participation in parent meetings).
Our kindergarten is actively working to maintain the traditions of celebrating Orthodox holidays: Christmas, Easter, Trinity, the feast of myrrh-bearing women.
