At the preschool and kindergarten at Christian Faith Center, our focus is to teach children in a God-centered environment. We believe that each child is uniquely and individually made in God’s image for a plan and a purpose. We not only focus on academics, but the whole child. When children feel safe, validated, and loved, learning organically happens.

Along with biblical teachings, our academic standards are exceptional. Our daily classroom rhythm is developmentally appropriate and provides learning stations that address each individual child’s own learning style. Christian values in the formation of family traditions in modern Russia

age. In our opinion, the adult population has long had a need to build their lives on the basis of the Orthodox religion, which is the main foundation of our culture, which is a natural process of introducing children to spirituality. The upbringing of preschool children as citizens of the country should be full-fledged and carried out taking into account those traditions that formed the basis of national culture, under the shadow of which the formation and development of the Russian state took place many centuries ago.

How to start? We asked ourselves this question when we began to build our work on familiarization with the spiritual and moral education of our preschool children. And the answer came on its own. Of course, it was necessary to start with the family. Since the Family is a mirror reflection of the spiritual world of each child. Having started work, we faced serious problems:

Firstly, in modern programs for the upbringing and education of preschool children, there is no section “Moral education”, which has been replaced mainly by “tasks of social development”.

Secondly, families themselves are not ready to quickly reveal their full spiritual potential. Parents often underestimate the importance of family traditions. There is no consistency in the upbringing of children between mom and dad, between grandparents.

After analyzing these problems, we decided to intensify activities between the preschool institution and the parent community, aimed at the formation of Christian family traditions through the implementation of a set of specially designed activities. I believe that the sincere interest of parents should be realized in shaping the spiritual state of the child through the instillation of Christian values embedded in the traditions of each individual family, and contribute to the activation of various activities in kindergarten and at home, including targeted, content and organizational components of spiritual and moral education preschoolers.

Before starting our work in this direction, we, of course, studied the existing experience of teachers throughout Russia, and the most interesting experience seemed to us the experience of the Belgorod Institute for the Development of Education: “Orthodox culture for kids.”[6] ] We will not hide, we took this article as a basis.

Since the formation of Christian values in family traditions is a new thing for us, the first was the definition of the main goal and tasks in this direction. The main goal is to form the spiritual and moral qualities of the child’s personality through introducing children to family traditions and Christian values.

Objectives of the complex of activities:

1) to promote the development of children’s interest in the traditions of their family;

2) to cultivate the ability to maintain family traditions, show respect for family members;

3) contribute to the preservation of family traditions and the formation of Christian values in the family;

4) to develop in children the skills of cognitive research and creative work together with educators and parents;

5) teach children to show a sense of compassion, caring, attentiveness to their family members, friends and peers, to those who care for them.

A set of measures for the formation of Christian values in the family:

I “Cycle of cognitive directly educational activities aimed at the development of spiritual and moral education of preschool children” (topics of cognitive directly educational activities: “Family heirlooms”; “A good proverb is said by the time “; “In the world of kindness”; “Candlemas”; “Sprig of willow”; “My angel keep me”; etc. ).

II “Cycle of leisure activities aimed at developing Christian values and strengthening family traditions”

(entertainment topics “Family Hearth” [3] “Easter joy”; “Everything created by the Almighty will not be superfluous under the fungus”; “Christmas teremok”, etc.).

III Cycle “Good Tales”

(Selection of fairy tales telling about human feelings and qualities: kindness, mercy, love, compassion, hospitality, patience, tolerance. Name of fairy tales: “Fairy of Mercy”; “Kindness”; Hospitable Claudia; “Indifference and responsiveness”; “Native things”; “Patience and tolerance”, etc.) [5].

IV Cycle “Working with parents”

(In this direction, leaflets were developed “BASIC PRINCIPLES OF CHRISTIAN PEDAGOGY (according to V. Zenkovsky)”; “Ten commandments “DO NOT” for children (according to V.I. Sukhomlinsky)” ]; “Questionnaire for parents “Norms of Christian morality in the family and kindergarten”).

In our institution, work on the topic “Christian values in the formation of family traditions” has just begun, and perhaps our range of activities will expand.

I believe that in case of successful implementation of a set of measures, we will get the following results:

1.                                                                                                                     —

2. Kindergarten teachers will study the literature on spiritual and moral education, which is based on Orthodoxy, thereby creating a solid educational foundation that contributes to the growth of their professional competence.

3. Spiritual and moral education of pupils’ parents; families will create a favorable environment for the formation of personality, namely, a certain worldview will be formed, an idea of Christian values will be given (compassion, mercy, patience, etc.)

4. An effective approach will be found in working with the families of pupils in such a difficult “Christian values in the formation of family traditions in modern Russia”.
