About the Provider

Description: OUR CENTER: The NOAA center opened its doors in September of 1993. We are a NAEYC accredited, GSA sponsored childcare center. We have a capacity for 85 children, ages Six weeks – Five years, with six classrooms. In addition, we have a non-profit parent board (Little Explorers) that we contract with to provide service at this location. We are located in NOAA Building Three in downtown Silver Spring (1315 East West Highway), conveniently located at the corner of East West Highway and Colesville Rd (Route 29) as well as directly behind the Silver Spring Metro Station. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is the federal agency that sponsors our location. Therefore, we do offer priority on our waitlist to NOAA families, followed by other federal families, prior to the general community. The center is open Monday-Friday (with the exception of Federal Holidays) from 6:30 A. M. -6:30 P.M. Our ratios are 1:3 for infants and toddlers; 1:6 for twos; and 1:10 for preschool children. Tuition varies based on the age group and number of hours per day you will utilize the center. The childcare center is located on the terrace level of the NOAA building. Therefore, we are not visible from the street and the center is completely secure. Entrance to the center is granted only through photo badge access (which all parents and guardians receive) or by signing in at the security desk. There is a parking garage located under the center, with four free drop-off and pick-up spaces for parents to park in. The center also has a large, secure, state-of-the-art, rooftop playground for the children to use, which is a rarity in the busy downtown Silver Spring area!

“New Horizons”: the brightest performances

The topic of understanding the ongoing special operation in Ukraine and tectonic shifts in the world order has become the main theme in the large project of the Knowledge Society, the educational marathon “New Horizons”. The lecturers were exclusive and the conversation turned out to be exciting. Interest in the event has become unprecedented. Broadcasts of the marathon “New Horizons” for three days collected more than 120 million views.

And in the hall – conversations about international politics, relations with the West, especially in the context of a special military operation in Ukraine.

“In fact, we are living in the conditions of such an ideal storm and the moment of truth. The very storm and the very moment that should ensure and protect our interests should make your life better, more comfortable, more stable and more secure. We are sure that we will win and achieve all our goals,” said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the head of state.

For young people who listen to speakers, it is now so important to find their place in life.

“The world has changed before our eyes and continues to change irreversibly. We can’t wait. Well, if you wait, it means that this new world will simply be formed without you and me. Any crisis opens up new opportunities. Opens up new opportunities for our country, opens up new opportunities for each of us. How not to miss these opportunities? Well, there is only one way – not to wait. It means to decide, it means to make decisions, it means to act, “says Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.

Marathon participants are helped right here to decide on their future profession, to outline their personal educational trajectory. At the festival, you can try yourself as a high-speed train driver. This is the cabin of the train “Swallow”. Here everything is one to one. First, a short briefing is given – and on the road. The line-up is now clearly picking up speed. The trip is virtual, but the feeling in the cockpit is one hundred percent!

We are discussing import substitution on the way. Production of “Lastochka” in Russia is localized. There will be no problems with simulators for training machinists either.

Tomorrow is primarily about new technologies and relying on our own developments. An example of this is the domestic passenger liner MS-21, to which the West tried to put spokes in the wheels.

“A unique development that is better in its class than modern versions of Boeing or Airbus. Yes, all aircraft – I want to say that there are no exceptions here – are made in cooperation, and our industry also made the MS-21 in cooperation. But so it turned out that we were refused composite materials, we made the composite wing ourselves. Of course, this is an ultra-modern competitive aircraft,” said Minister of Transport Vitaly Savelyev.

“They are trying to present us with you, they tried to present us as a raw materials appendage, a “gas station”, as they said. We must understand: they themselves are suffocating due to lack of access to energy. That’s the whole point. We are the greatest country in the world. Because, when we are told about energy, energy is a high-tech industry. This is the most complicated high-tech business, and we have always done it better than anyone else in the world,” Mikhail Kovalchuk, director of the Kurchatov Institute, emphasized.

Seeing how confidently Russia is developing, the collective West openly relies not on diplomatic solutions, but on military force. Ukraine is being pumped with weapons.

– Is Kyiv getting away with everything, and if so, why?

– Ukraine is a consumable in a hybrid total war against the Russian Federation. The British, Americans, presidents, prime ministers, ministers say: we have no right to let Russia win. Russia must be defeated. That is, they have declared war,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“The most terrible thing is probably what we saw in terms of this monstrous information war, these are flows of lies, fakes, staged works. Sometimes they are as monstrous as human consciousness cannot imagine,” Dmitry Peskov noted.

But events could develop according to a completely different scenario. Russia persistently offered time after time to find mutually acceptable solutions in the field of security. However, they simply refused to hear Moscow.

My predecessor Andrei Andreevich Gromyko is famous for the phrase that 10 years of negotiations are better than one day of war. But we were given no other choice. We have had not 10 years, but 20 years since the West went to the preparation of tools, including the use of NATO and Ukraine to contain Russia. Since the end of 90-s. And all these years we insisted on negotiations, we were ignored. Therefore, now we will solve problems depending on how we see them,” Lavrov stressed.

Moreover, now Ukraine is not just a military foothold for NATO, but also a potential territory. “Poland will gnaw off Western lands from Ukraine’s ‘friend’,” head of the negotiating team Vladimir Medinsky said. Russia is about to be on the brink of default.0005

“We are not going to announce any defaults. We will calculate in rubles, we have money,” Siluanov assured.

In conditions when no pressure helps, the West has no choice but to impose personal sanctions.

– The West has imposed sanctions against you and your family. How did you react to this news?

– This is ridiculous. My wife and my married daughters have never been involved in politics. This is bullshit. They want to scare us with their sanctions. Today we are not fighting against Ukraine, we are fighting against NATO. And therefore, it is not easy for our state, but we will prove once again that Russia cannot be defeated,” the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, is sure.

One of the questions to Kadyrov is about the personality of the President of Russia and how the work with the head of state is structured.

“He knows everything that happens on the territory of the Russian Federation, when I have a meeting with the president, I always worry. He asks a question, names some village, which I even forget. And he says what problems exist. And therefore, when you go to the president, you have to prepare very hard,” Kadyrov said.

There are young people in the hall, but the topics are discussed as if at a government meeting. Here is Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov. The conversation is about the development of the defense industry. We are talking about the creation of modern types of weapons, new systems. One of them is “Peresvet”.

“It is already being serially supplied to the troops. And it can blind all satellite reconnaissance systems of a potential enemy in orbits up to 1.5 thousand kilometers, incapacitating them during the flight due to the use of laser radiation,” Borisov emphasized.

There are a lot of questions for Borisov, enormous interest from the press.

– How stable is the defense industry complex?

– Over the past 10 years, the defense industry has reached the guaranteed fulfillment of the tasks of the state defense order. The average percentage of annual completion approaches 100%. I think this is a very good indicator. We are coping with all the plans and tasks that our Armed Forces and other power structures set for the defense industry. There are no disruptions in the state defense order. Today we are actively pursuing import substitution programs, moving away from dependence,” Borisov said.

Topics range from technological advances to cultural policy. Especially now, when the West does not find anything better than to ban even outstanding examples of Russian classics.

“When today we see an attempt to abolish Russian culture by unfriendly countries, this, to put it mildly, is surprising. For example, it is very difficult for me to imagine how these “friends” will be without what they now prohibit in a while. As a rule, in such situations, those who prohibit it suffer,” said Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

About 14 thousand schoolchildren and students gathered at the educational marathon. And broadcasts on the Internet were watched by tens of millions.

Bright horizons of Anna Krivolap – artme-gallery

26.Apr.2020

Birthday is a special day when we start our own year and make plans for the future. Artists are no exception. Therefore, today we are talking about the birthday girl Anna Krivolap, a young, but already very famous artist from a large creative family.

Anna Krivolap, Before the rain, 2013

Every artist sees the world in his own way – Anna sees it blooming and bright. Anna Krivolap is a master of figurative abstraction, but the most interesting thing is her work with color! “Color has always been and is the basis for me, with its help you can convey a variety of sensations and states,” says the artist.

Anna Kryvolap, Image II, 2019

Anna Krivolap’s works are presented in series, most of which are dedicated to Ukrainian origins and traditions, translated into the language of modern painting. “Wells”, “Trees”, “Horizons”, “Involvement”, “Plastic Variations”, “Tapes” (“Strips”). Each series of works is a kind of artistic narrative, a story told with the help of color and shapes

Anna Krivolap, Wood (1), 2016

“Oh, “Lenta” is very interesting! My grandparents are from the city of Yagotin, where I often went with my parents, – says Anna. “Then my dad and mom, my husband and I, and several other artists bought dachas across from Yagotin, in the village of Zasupoevka, with a fantastic view of Lake Supoi.

Between our village and Yagotyn there is a bridge across the railroad, and there, on a large shield, ribbons are always fluttering. It is our local tradition to tie a ribbon on the bridge for weddings.

Every time I pass by here, I not only get aesthetic pleasure from these colors against the sky, but I always think how these ribbons resemble human destinies. Some are completely new, others are worn, shabby, and some come off and fly further … And all this against the backdrop of an unchanged, eternal landscape.

In October last year, the Museum of the History of Kyiv hosted Anna Kryvolap’s exhibition “Community”. The works presented on it are an old mosaic, rethought, sensual, as a modern artist sees it. “Such an amount of color cannot be given without emotions,” noted writer and art critic Anna Vladimirskaya at the opening of the exhibition. “Anna Krivolap is an example of 21st century impressionism.”

Anna Krivolap’s paintings are large in size, on such canvases there is room for emotions, a flight of fancy, and a bold hand of the master to unfold. From a distance, they look spectacular, impressive, but as soon as you get closer, you notice details, strokes, color transitions that you can look at endlessly… creativity, the most interesting moment for me is the transfer of the idea into the material. And the dialogue that arises between me and the first step in the work, when the material itself begins to form some kind of image and state, and the colors interact with each other, creating energy. The moment when something important for further development arises. For me, painting is a process, and it is as a process that I find it most interesting.”

Anna Krivolap, Horizons (5), 2016

One of the largest series of Anna Krivolap’s paintings is “City Skylines” (“Obrii Mist”). Anna travels a lot around the world, and its most picturesque corners come to life with the help of colors on her canvases. Istanbul, Gurzuf, New York – many cities and thousands of different shades…

Anna Krivolap, Horizons. Sarajevo (2), 2017Anna Krivolap, Alps, 2019Anna Krivolap, Kyiv skylines, Prorizna Street, 2016

Anna Krivolap was born in Kyiv, in the family of artists Zinaida Vasina and Anatoly Krivolap, studied at school with Zoya Lerman and Oleg Zhivotkov, at the academy – in the class of Daniil Leader. Kyiv occupies a special place in her work. “Kyiv – and immediately the heart stops!” says Anna. – I love this city for its rich history and culture, and I feel my Kyiv roots very deeply. Probably because I was born in its very heart, not far from the Opera House.

A series of works “Kyiv Horizons” – these are panoramas of the city, and individual streets, and houses, and always – a lot of sky. Sometimes it occupies two-thirds of the canvas, and you look at it like a real sky – for a long time, and you just can’t look away. “There is no sky like in Kyiv anywhere else – look!” says the artist.

Anna Krivolap, Kyiv Horizons (3), 2018Anna Krivolap, Kyiv Horizons (2), 2015

Anna Krivolap’s workshop is spacious, bright, in the historical heart of the city, on Andreevsky Spusk. The room is filled with light and filled with paintings. There are a huge number of canvases here, and when you start to sort through and examine them, you can’t stop. On the coffee table are art books and catalogs.
