Scandalous sex story with the American President
Once upon a time there was a president in America named Thomas Jefferson, who is extremely important for Americans because he fought for independence, signed the Declaration of Independence, etc.

But so that you can ignore this cliche, I will give you time references: he was born at the same time as our Derzhavin, in 1743, and died in 1826, when the Decembrists That is, such gray-haired American antiquity, “ Sleepy Hollow”, “Scarlet Letter”, “Patriot”, sequels to “National Treasure” with N. Cage.
And then an absolutely incredible scandal was revealed in his life, which true white patriots of the USA still refuse to admit. Let’s get down.
Thomas Jefferson in a portrait by R. Peel (1805)
In 1772, Jefferson married his cousin, a noble lady named Martha.
The only surviving image of Mrs. Martha Jefferson.
They were all wealthy slave planters with a lifestyle to match. In general, in Martha’s dowry, her dad gave her own half-sister, whom he fathered from his Negro slave.
This maid sister was called Sally Hemings. Mrs. Martha gave birth to six children (of which only 1 girl Martha survived), and died. Thomas Jefferson never remarried.
Nolte as Jefferson, Thandie Newton as Sally. The choice of the actress is ideological, but not accurate, according to contemporaries, the girl was “almost white.”
By the way, he inherited his wife’s blacks. Archival documents prove the following. In subsequent years, Sally Hemings, also remaining unmarried, gave birth to 8 children. Jefferson, making notes about their birth, in the column “father’s name” always put a dash (and he wrote down his other blacks correctly, with fathers). Four of these children survived to adulthood.
Jefferson was generally not a rich man, and after he served as president, his condition did not improve, and as a result he was bankrupt. Sally’s children (and her siblings) were the only Negroes to whom he issued a free license. Moreover, Jefferson released the children immediately upon reaching the age of majority. All children were taught good crafts; three boys, like Jefferson himself, learned to play the violin.
Sally didn’t have a freestyle. She survived Jefferson. When, after his death, the president’s daughter and sole heiress, Miss Martha Jefferson, sold all his property and all blacks under the hammer to pay for his bankruptcy debts, her half-aunt Sally was the only one Martha did not sell. A gave her written permission to live in the house of her liberated sons. After the Civil War of the North and South, some of Sully’s descendants officially adopted the surname “Jefferson”. Well, in general, as if everything is obvious.
One of Sally’s descendants. Compare his face with the portrait of Jefferson
Moreover, one of Sally’s sons left notes about these family circumstances. According to her son’s memoirs, she became pregnant by Jefferson for the first time at the age of 16, when he and his family lived in Paris and shone in the world there. Details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…
Sally was a quadroon (¼ black blood), blond, very beautiful and with straight hair. Her children had 1/8 blood, looked like completely white. Having received freedom, they left for the northern States and lived there as whites. When this story surfaced, it turned out that many descendants of this family have no idea about their black origin (and even more so about the president). Other branches of the descendants, however, intermarried with African Americans, and therefore clearly belong to a different race.
Sally’s grandson, who adopted the last name Jefferson, Yankee Colonel
Well, there you go. Rumors that Jefferson had a second “Negro” family circulated during his lifetime. One journalist gossiped, the enemies hissed. In the Monticello estate, this family occupied a too privileged position among domestic slaves, the guests noticed this … The ex-president himself did not condescend to explanations.
Already after his death, in the 1850s, one of the sons of Miss Martha Jefferson, that is, the grandson of the president, officially declared somewhere there that yes, there were white blacks, but Sally was not his grandfather’s concubine, but his grandfather’s nephew, who lived nearby and went to his uncle’s estate to have sex. So they wrote down in the biography of the president, and for a century and a half they replicated, or rather, even neglected this trifle.
But in the second half of the 20th century, this began to surface. And it was a colossal scandal, which then cast a Shadow on the personality of the Great President. How did he have sex? Out of marriage! With a slave! With a black woman! For thirty-eight years he lived in a civil marriage with a black woman! He had illegitimate children! He had children-Negroes! Well, you imagine, in general.
This has gone down in American history as the “Jefferson-Hamming Problem”, in English. Wikipedia article is huge, such a “Library of Ivan the Terrible” it was, a stumbling block. It all surfaced at 1953, caused a great controversy, which did not subside.
In 1979 a woman wrote a very compelling biography of Sally about all this. She became a bestseller. The book was made into a television series. But a huge campaign against this began, the producers were actually hounded, the filming was disrupted. Time has passed. In 1995, in the tape “Jefferson in Paris”, where Nick Nolte is also about this, dotted. However, the damned uncertainty remained… was there sex or was the president slandered?
Here is an absolutely delightful comic sketch, where Robert De Niro plays Jefferson in the company of this black woman Sally. It takes on a special grace when you know about De Niro’s love map.
Finally, in 1998, DNA analysis of the descendants of Miss Martha Jefferson and Sally Hemmings was carried out.
