Introduction

You are holding an extraordinary book in your hands – this is the first manual for teachers of preschool educational institutions, which provides annual planning of educational work with children aged 3-4, taking into account their gender characteristics[1].

It is common knowledge that at the age of 2-3 years the child begins to understand that he is either a girl or a boy and identifies himself accordingly. In the period from 3 to 7 years, gender stability is formed in children. It becomes clear to children that boys become men and girls become women, and this gender will not change depending on the situation or the child’s personal desires.

Neuropsychologists, physiologists, psychologists and educators believe that the formation of gender stability is due to sociocultural norms and depends primarily on the attitude of parents to the child, the nature of parental attitudes and attachment of both the mother to the child and the child to the mother, as well as on his upbringing in a preschool educational institution. However, the content of work with preschoolers, taking into account their gender characteristics, has not been developed enough, which, according to researchers (T. V. Bendas, S. A. Marutyan, N. V. Plisenko, T. A. Repina, L. G. Tarannikova, S. V. Shapovalova and others), leads to the absence in children of specific features characteristic of gender: boys are sometimes deprived of emotional stability, endurance, determination, girls – tenderness, modesty, tolerance, desire for peaceful resolution of conflicts (T. A. Repina ).

In order to help parents and educators of preschool educational institutions in solving this complex and significant problem, on the initiative of M. M. Tsapenko, Deputy Head of the Department of Preschool and General Education of the Department of Education of the City of Moscow, in the pilot project “Moscow education: from infancy to schools” in the framework of joint activities with UNESCO included the topic “Development of gender-sensitive education technologies for children of early and preschool age in kindergarten and family conditions”. This topic was entrusted to develop the resource center of the state educational institution of compensating type No. 557, the head of I.M. Ivanova is an honored teacher of the Russian Federation. The resource center includes an experimental site, including GOU CRR – kindergarten No. 1352 of the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow, head N. S. Belyavskaya; GOU TsRR – kindergarten No. 867 of the South-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow, head I. B. Sennovskaya; ANOO Elementary School – Kindergarten “Rainbow”, head A. V. Koroleva.

It is well known that one of the defining indicators of the development of education is the index of gender equality, because non-discriminatory education benefits both girls and boys and thus ultimately contributes to the development of equal relations between men and women.

The solution of this problem is complicated by the fact that, starting from birth, girls mature earlier, and scientists have now accumulated a number of interesting facts about sex differences in health, motor skills, the development of the visual system, and speech abilities of children. These differences are due to both biological and social factors.

Therefore, in order to achieve high results in the field of preschool education, on the one hand, it is relevant to develop and use differentiated forms of education for girls and boys in work with children, taking into account these differences.

On the other hand, the works of T. A. Repina and a number of foreign researchers revealed the undoubted fact that in preschool educational institutions there is disunity between girls and boys. At the age of 3 to 7 years, there are 91% of selective contacts with peers of the same sex and only 9% with children of the opposite sex. Therefore, teachers face the task of finding ways that would promote friendship and interaction between girls and boys and at the same time would not hinder the process of sexual differentiation of children. But how to do that? The manual “Girls and boys of 3-4 years old in the family and kindergarten” is devoted to the solution of this problem.

The results of approbation of the manual showed that, thanks to systematic and purposeful work in this area, parents and educators of preschool educational institutions develop gender competence, which allows parents to educate girls and boys taking into account their individual characteristics, and educators to neutralize the negative consequences of the process of feminization of preschool education. The result of working with children of 3–4 years old on the basis of gender-sensitive upbringing technologies was the firm identification of children with one or another gender, the realization of the irreversibility of the gender role and the fact that it is no longer possible to “remake” the sex at this age.

Why is it desirable to raise children with regard to their gender characteristics?

As a result of the analysis of psychological and pedagogical research conducted in Russia and abroad, it was found that it is during preschool childhood that all children living in different countries of the world form their gender identity.

Currently, in the world of psychological and pedagogical science, many works are devoted to the study of gender characteristics of preschool children. However, most of the Western European and American studies on this topic are heterogeneous and are critically evaluated in the works of colleagues.

Nevertheless, E. Maccoby, C. Jacklin and other scientists believe that it is reliably established that girls are superior to boys in verbal abilities, and boys are stronger than girls in visual-spatial abilities. Boys have higher mathematical abilities than girls, but boys are more aggressive than girls.

Girls of preschool age are “more social” and more suggestible than boys. Girls are better at simple, routine tasks, while boys are better at more complex cognitive processes. Girls are more influenced by heredity, and boys are more influenced by environment. Girls have more developed auditory, while boys have more visual perception and much more. However, according to scientists, there is also a lot of controversial, problematic, unclear here.

Scientists agree on only one thing – gender stability is formed by socio-cultural norms and largely depends on the relationship between children and parents.

T. V. Bendas [2] made a significant contribution to the solution of this problem. The textbook, which for the first time presents a new branch of psychological science – gender psychology, compares girls and boys, women and men on the basis of numerous domestic and foreign studies on various manifestations of the psyche and behavior. As a result of this, teachers and parents can receive information either about the absence of gender differences, or about the advantage of children of one sex or another. Let’s name some of them:

Contemporary children’s books and authors

How do you choose children’s books? Surely you, like most people, have one proven category of good children’s books: those that you yourself once loved. “The Wizard of the Emerald City” and “Carlson who lives on the roof”, “The Girl from the Earth” and “Tales of the Hedgehog and the Bear Cub”, “Russian Folk Tales” and “Deniska’s Stories”. This is, without a doubt, a win-win option, but it has one significant drawback – you risk missing out on excellent contemporary authors who are also worth introducing children to.

On the occasion of the All-Russian Week of Children’s and Youth Books, we invite you to pay attention to these young writers who create truly cute, smart and touching stories for the little ones. We are sure that in today’s selection you will surely find interesting stories, cute characters and new favorite authors for kids that their parents will also like.

Nina Dashevskaya. Musician by training, Nina Dashevskaya published her first book in 2011 and over the next 10 years became one of the most famous and vibrant Russian writers for children and teenagers. Three literary awards “Kniguru” and the ardent love of readers of all ages are proof of this.

Dashevskaya N.

About the music

Who, if not a professional musician, should know about those magical changes that come into our life along with music. So the heroes of this story will definitely be convinced of its magical properties from personal experience.

Fourteen-year-old Arkady cannot imagine himself without a violin, although he loves the sea more than anything in the world. Gloomy Anton, as if invisible to his classmates, depressingly displays “Oh, it’s not evening” in the music room day after day. Lyolka moved to a new area and feels completely alien to everyone and everything here. Especially for a tough guy named John, who absolutely doesn’t care about her piano.

Everything-everything-everything about Vita

Collection of stories about the boy Vitya, who is often compared with Denis Korablev, the hero of Deniska’s Tales. The mood of this book is also reminiscent of favorite stories from childhood. Vitya all the time gets into the most unpredictable, funny and amazing situations and gets out of them with the same fun and enthusiasm. To immediately plunge headlong into the next adventure. And, most importantly, these comical stories raise serious and important questions about friendship, mutual assistance, freedom and love for loved ones.

A lively modern fairy tale in verse invites young readers to visit one of the most ordinary modern families. Just as normal as yours. book of monsters

Do you know who lives in your house? Of course, mom, dad and the rest of the family, we are not talking about that. We, for example, are talking about the little rogue Noskotyre, who can sometimes snatch even mittens with gloves out of habit. Or about Beshuns, who loves to attack a domestic cat at night while looking – and let her rush along the ceiling. Or about Pylrik, which is extremely difficult to get rid of, because for this you need to keep the house in perfect order. A funny encyclopedia of all kinds of domestic monsters will help you learn a lot of new things and take a fresh look at your familiar environment.
