Factors to consider when choosing a Christian school in Orlando

There are many factors to consider when deciding whether to send your child to a Christian school.

One of the decisive factors is the moral and spiritual foundation that a Christian school can provide. In today’s society, it can be difficult for children to avoid negative influences and peer pressure. A Christian school can provide a safe environment in which children can learn about God and grow in their faith.

Another reason parents may choose a Christian school is the academic rigor that is often found in these schools. Many Christian schools offer a college preparatory program that can give your child an edge in the future.

Finally, parents also appreciate the smaller class sizes and the personal attention their child will receive at a Christian school. Others prefer big schools because they offer more extracurricular activities and opportunities to meet other families.

experts told how to help a teenager choose a profession

These are different strategies

“When choosing a specialty, parents sometimes have different strategies,” says Oksana Bobrysheva, a career guidance specialist for children and older people. – The first is “Choose yourself.” Like, here’s a year for you, think about it, decide, and then come to your senses and talk. Such a strategy injects the child into the most terrible frustration, he faces the agony of choice, but the parents are completely open to this very choice of the child. More sympathetic parents adhere to a different strategy: they go together with the child to universities, go through different specialties with him. These two options are the most environmentally friendly.

However, there are other strategies to eat. Approximately, to eat parents, which carefully know that now, for example, IT specialists are in demand, and, although the child does not want this, they decide for him, without taking into account his views. And sometimes in this case, the teenager himself does not insist on something to his friend, considering: “The parent is an adult – he knows better.”

The fourth option is dynastic history. Children from dynastic surnames either chatter: “Everything is predetermined for me” – and act according to the parental track, or operate in opposition: “You were all teachers, and I will be a designer.

Each parent chooses his own way of participating in the child’s choice of specialty, but which one is more important and which one is more dangerous? The stories of our heroes will tell about this.

I didn’t listen to my parents

Marina from Sevastopol is a successful photographer who shoots weddings and makes photo shoots all over the world. And who could have thought that in high school, Marina did not even see what profession to choose. As a result, the choice fell on the Institute of Physical Education, where she enrolled.

— I was already a student when I got interested in the card, — says Marina. – My uncle from the Far East, who has been fond of cards all his life, came to our city. He talked about his hobby so incendiary and enthusiastically that I thought: “Why don’t I try it too?” I signed up for a photography course, but I didn’t have a professional camera. I asked my dad to lend money for a DSLR, but he refused. He said: “I won’t give you such nonsense, it’s all not serious.

Marina found pennies, completed courses, started filming, and took orders. It turned out that she had talent, she won a professional competition for the most important photo work, gradually tumbled into the top of the most important photographers in her region.

— I remember when I was still a student and my mother and I visited her aunt, she chatted to her about my interest with a card: “Lyuda, advise your daughter against these nonsense. The girl needs a stable, capital craft. Let him graduate from high school and act as a physical education teacher at school. There will never be a job without work.”

Marina did not listen to anyone. Now she earns well, took an apartment and is simply cloudless, because she knows that the card is her vocation and fate. Marina was lucky with her temper, but not everyone can resist their parents.

Lost times

Ekaterina from Cheboksary was a creative girl in her childhood. She flooded, danced, she liked collective work. However, the parents decided otherwise: “Let at least someone in our family have the longest education. You should enroll in a university and study to be a lawyer or an economist.”

— Whatever I do creatively — whether it be dancing, needlework, singing — my parents invariably handed me to comprehend that it was nonsense, and reduced my interest to the level of a hobby. From this, I myself lost faith, did not take these matters seriously, – Katya confesses.

She actually graduated from the university with a degree in finance and credit. I worked hard at the bank, in financial brunches. And she constantly felt that it was not hers, sad, uninteresting.

– Just after marriage, I took the risk of changing my profession. My husband supported me and said: “Choose whatever you want,” Katya recalls. – And then I started to run from one to another: hairdressing courses, landscape design, photography … And now, you see, I’m 34 years old, and just now I finally comprehended my vocation. Because I enjoy hanging out with people, I run social media and work hard as a coach. Now, years later, I understand how much time I lost, listening to my parents then and spending countless years studying in a hateful specialty and working in a hateful specialty. But I could decide even in high school, and then I would have done it much more quickly, because in those years I painfully smartly understood: mine or not mine.

Ekaterina has two tiny children, and she is sure that she will not repeat her parents’ mistake.

— The peasant and I decided that we would give the children absolute freedom of choice. Do you want to become a hairdresser?

“A parent can seriously hinder a child by his assertive attitude to choosing a specialty without taking into account his characteristics,” Simona Filimonova, a psychologist and specialist in working with adolescents, chatters. – Every person is individual. And even if the reprimand speaks of a family dynasty, then the family thing is suitable for someone, and the pipes are for someone. Yeah, if the child grows up in a creative sphere – approximately, in a family of artists, musicians or artists, he is more likely to follow in the footsteps of his parents, but even in such cases it happens that the child cannot or does not want to fit into these narrow rules.

Pouring pilot

Musical theater artist, participant of the Voice. Children ”- the track record of 19-year-old Artem could be continued. Musician parents could not even think that somehow their ten-year-old son impeccably confesses his great love for aviation. The big ones listened to him attentively, comprehended and met his decision.

– We met, but not in one gulp! – specifies Artem’s mother, vocal teacher Julia. – To his dream, Artem performed for a long time, from the age of five. Once we brought our son to the Sheremetyevo airport, from where the take-offs and landings of airplanes could be seen. From this, everything arose: this spectacle lured the kid so much that he asked to enroll him in an aeromodelling circle. Farther away, closer: Artyom yearned to feel himself in the pilot’s seat. However, for this, after all, a drop of one desire. This includes intensive training, physical activity, and excellent knowledge in the field of physics, mathematics and English.

Arena and different musical projects took countless time. There was a drop of time left to prepare for admission to an aviation educational institution. And then Artem met a difficult decision to quit music and the arena and devote himself entirely to the act.

– He passed the exams brilliantly, physical standards – too. However, the chairman of the study committee was stunned by the creative track record of the applicant, which he ran through, – Yulia chats. – Artyom sang, and on the next day, the entire Krasnokutsk flight school was already aware of him.

— What if it happened?

– When the son passed all the standards on the field at the flight school (after which, incidentally, countless guys were weeded out painfully), the person who accepted these standards said to him: “So you showed that in “Voice. Children” participated, but can you sing something right now? And the son, right there, on the field, gave out “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. Everyone around clapped.

Now Artem is completing the initial course of KKLUGA and is already flying. The craft of a particular aviation pilot sounds great and proud, but behind this lies an exalted responsibility, stress resistance, and absolute knowledge in the field of technology.

“Artyom tells us that the learning process is difficult, but painfully entertaining,” says his mother. — By the way, at the school, a painfully active creative being: concerts, competitions. Recently, he took part in a music festival in Ulyanovsk, where students from aviation universities and colleges from all over performed – pilots, air traffic controllers … blow on weekends, the guy answers with the words from the famous song: “Because, because we are pilots! ..”

Artyom’s case is definitely a liquid one. Parents-musicians enrolled prudently, and as a result, the brainchild was realized in one gulp in two zones. However, much thicker, the big ones forcibly force the child to follow in their footsteps, thereby destroying their fate. Or simply impose their own picture of the world on them. But the realities are absolutely not the same as they were even one generation ago.

Do no harm

“Relationships between children and parents are changing,” explains Alexander Asmolov, Doctor of Psychology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education. – Parents sometimes yearn for their children to achieve what they failed to achieve – this complex now also depicts the moment that leads to risky decisions. Meanwhile, the infant subculture rather than the adult subculture is increasingly involved in the choice of children and adolescents. They focus on what is primarily valuable to their peers. The children chatter: “You have never lived in this world. As if you can make us?

As if the expert explains, one of the hardest problems of parents is “university centrism”. For some reason, the big ones revere that after school their child must certainly be enrolled in the longest educational institution. However, as Asmolov notes (and many colleagues agree with him), it is possible to realize and succeed even after a mediocre special education, and this format is now very proclaimed in the world.

— It may turn out so much that it is more important for a child to go to college than to an institute — according to the abilities and even the desire of the child himself, — psychologist Simona Filimonova explains. “And it might be more promising for the kid in the future. I know cases when parents insisted: “To the institute – and that’s it!”. A teenager is now simply not capable. Maybe in a few years he will go to university and be successful there, but not now. And such assertiveness can harm – shoving a child into a university, where he will be uninteresting, antipathetic, difficult.

Lack of fearlessness

At times the problem lies within the adolescent himself. To find the profession of a dream is a drop – it is still majestic to believe that everything will work out for you, and to own fearlessness.

— A year ago I worked hard with a girl from the Stavropol region. She was in an irrelevant prostration, did not know where to perform, – says Oksana Bobrysheva. “We explored her interests, her big sides, and solidified her visions of herself. And along the way, she had countless insights. It’s like she’s brainy. She has exalted results in her studies, but for some reason she always found that some of her girlfriends were brainier, and she was “average”. In addition, it turned out that she loves to smear fictional characters, non-existent people, unequal images. She took them out, showed me – excellent drawings, while I saw that her energy was changing. So we have come to our senses to the specialty of an illustrator associated with the creation of video games. It was like one at the junction of her interests. Because she loves games too. However, here is her environment … Approximately, her woman was a merchandiser, and in the concept of a grandmother, compiled back in the 70-80s of the last century, a merchandiser is a painfully important and prestigious craft, because it is access to products … In general, energy girls are the craft of an illustrator, and beingness is a merchandiser, a “good profession”. At the same time, she admitted that when she enters a university, she does not want to leave her family, and universities that would teach illustrators in their region are a pipe – it is necessary to go to Rostov or Krasnodar, for which she is not ready. That to eat the craft is actually in the palm of your hand, it ignites a person, and he chatters: “As if I would leave my family, my parents?” In this case, I chat that “career guidance is broken.” Now, as I know, this girl is concentrating on entering an economic university to study management. However, this does not mean that something did not work out. You drew a vector for a child, beingness is different, but the vector is changing, we will all be on the way. Probably, belatedly, she will come to her senses to her vocation.

Another story told by Oksana is even more characteristic. The high school student is a sports champion, her entire home is from this area, and from early childhood she was taken to training, aiming at the sport of sublime achievements itself.

“All existence was proclaimed around this, and at the age of 15–16 she began to turn away from sports,” says Oksana Bobrysheva. – This girl was open to any sports university, but she realized that she wanted to study as a psychologist. And then the exam in biology gets in her way, which is inevitable for entering such a university. She chatters: “I won’t give up.” All the tare-bars-rasta-bars, on the pretext that “you have a year to eat, you can prepare,” did not support. In the concept of a child, preparing for an exam in biology is not a difficult task, but a super-difficult one. Then she closed this path to herself to eat. Now Ira is a student of a sports university.

— In your opinion, was it realistic to prepare for the year?

— Quite! If you find an important tutor and study… However, there must also be a willingness of parents to invest. That is to eat pennies, the support of parents and the time of the child, which for this it is necessary to release to the detriment of sports. In this case, of course, she would have given it away! Especially since, with all the minuses of the Unified State Examination, he has a big plus – the rules are set there, there are no surprises on your way. The monolithic state exam equalized everyone, the atmosphere is draughty. I remember this situation because, having mastered the times and her head on her shoulders, the girl herself narrowed her boundaries. Owning a choice, she would have stayed with him in a year, and maybe even expanded her number of options.

Thought it out? Fine!

Experts point out that one of the mistakes parents make when looking at the child’s future is that they perceive any of his first desires as if they were one. Meanwhile, any person, and even more so a teenager, has the absolute left to change his decision. Even if parental pennies are spent or, as they say now, “investments” in the child.

Since the age of five, Sonya has been nailing to her parents that she will be a doctor. Dudki, she, of course, also went to dances and music, but she decided on a specialty in one gulp. In the fifth grade, she enrolled in a prestigious gymnasium in a specialized medical class.

The girl raved about medicine: in utilitarian affairs she skillfully got on with dressings, measured blood pressure at home, brought only “five” in biology. Parents, grandparents proudly said: “Come on, there will be a doctor in the family.” After the eighth grade – the latest success: Sonya passed the selection for free summer courses at the medical university. She went to work in the heat through all of Moscow, in the evenings with ecstasy she told her family what they had been taught. And in the coffin of summer she announced: “I don’t want to be a doctor. ” The parents were shocked. Grandma and grandpa fainted.

“The fact that medicine is not mine, I realized that I had just come to my senses for the courses and plunged into this environment with my head,” Sonya explains to MK. – It was painfully entertaining for me there, but as if I saw the flaming cataracts of my groupmates, I comprehended everything in one gulp. Medicine is everything for them, they live by it. And I’m a dick. I am also fond of music and generally idolize being in sight.

Sonya confessed that if she had two lives, she would certainly give one of them to medicine. However, not one. So in the ninth grade, the girl faced the capital problem: where to speak now?

“I started attending extra social studies because it felt like the most homely thing,” Sonya says. — Politics, laws, relationships between people — it turned out to be entertaining. My mother is a journalist, she advised me to recite the sites for which she skates. She said: “Maybe you’re hungry to work hard in the media. ” I began to recite, and then I was terribly interested in crime essays, articles about lawsuits and incidents. And I realized that I wanted to be a criminal defense lawyer. And to speak to the public to eat the opportunity, and to hang out with people, yeah, and this is a little connected with medicine, because the defenders are found with forensic experts and doctors. And I’m already preparing for a law school! – Sonya narrates with flaming burkalas.

Newly minted realities

— Newly minted times have now come to their senses. According to analysts’ forecasts, 50% of the specialties that will exist in 10 years are still unknown to us, explains psychologist Yevgeny Levin. – Approximately, at the beginning of the 2000s, we did not know who such a targetologist or crypto expert was. At the same time, some specialties that are now fashionable will lose their relevance. Yeah, and the rhythm of life itself has become somewhat more brisk, the planning horizon has narrowed, and the schemes of the older generations, according to which we are used to living, do not work hard. It is no longer possible to say to a child: “Choose such and such a profession – and it will bring you a stable comfortable life.” Working hard as an official is not a guarantee of stability, and working as a lawyer or teacher is no different. Many, incidentally, now see stability in the remote and freelance format, when you are not dependent on a particular employer. However, again, here it is necessary to take into account the psychotype of the child. Not every person can work hard at home, where there are a lot of distractions and, on the other hand, eat the risk of retreating into workaholism when they ask you to be in touch 24 hours a day and your proletarian devay stretches for the same amount. Some people absolutely need to be in a huge team, and from nine to six – this mobilizes them and keeps them in a constant tone.

– As if this predisposition can be found by a parent?

– It just hurts. Observe what games your child prefers to play and what to do in general. If, for example, he idolizes smearing, then if it’s easier for him to get along? Alone with himself, so that no one distracts, or in the art studio, to which he runs with joy, in order to draw and talk with the guys? It is also worth paying attention to like a kid with self-organization. Approximately, to eat children, which by nature painfully adhere to the introduced rules and order. I woke up, made a bunk, brushed my teeth and went to perform in toys. For this, a kid of a different system needs constant monitoring and reminders from the elders.

Going to university with mom

How would you support a child in choosing a profession?

“Expanding his horizon and giving him the opportunity to try himself in different areas from preschool age,” explains Simona Filimonova. – In the older year, you can visit some universities together, a high school student can go to the university himself and find out everything. But to feel yourself within the walls of a university, to look at the schedule, to communicate with students is a great age. Plus – wanderings, joint discussions, the study of unequal sites. However, it is necessary to help, without insisting and without pressing!

Why else is it necessary to help a child decide on a specialty, and not leave him all alone with a stressful choice? Yeah, because he simply may not see some nuances and pitfalls.

— One 10-grader chatted to me: “I would want to connect my life with the support of people or animals — weak, unhappy.” However, in the process of communication, we found out that she had a painfully elevated component of aesthetic perception, Simona says. “With him, she won’t be able to deal with homeless people or sick people. She had never thought about it, and when she realized it, she was surprised.

— What does it mean — “a component of aesthetic perception”?

– When a teenager chats “I want to be a philanthropist”, he probably really has been helping dogs and cats in a shelter for several years – he buys food, comes and strokes them. However, if his aesthetic component is too elevated, he will not be able to clean up after the same animal poop. Meanwhile, you must be fully aware that if you enter this area as if it were a profession, then you will have to get along, including black work. It’s the same with homeless people. In this matter, carnal support is needed: to feed, wash, and so on. Even the heads of foundations are faced with this Palestinian work, there is no way to avoid it.

— And what did this girl decide?

– She still has a year ahead of her before she becomes a PR manager. In general, this is important when a teenager has already decided on what he wants, and it remains only to combine his desire with opportunities. Now, incidentally, the professional spectrum has spread, there are not so many intelligible specialties. Multitasking is not the same.

Thrifty: charlatans

The subject whom dad baffled with the statement “Choose a university yourself”, lives in Moscow, there are countless offices that help with career guidance. To such a “specialist” and sent his school teacher. The boy filled out the tests for two hours, after which the computer printed out the answer for him: “Suitable specialties: nurse, nurse – 70%, police officer – 40%, veterinarian – 40%”.

“They told me about the veterinarian, probably because I showed that I idolize dogs,” the teenager says. – Why my vocation is a nurse – I did not comprehend at all. From the fact that I idolize being with people and showing sympathy? In any case, all that was offered to me was more leftover than I would have wanted to do.

Both psychologists and professionals involved in career guidance admit that now the market for these services is filled with charlatans and dilettantes, and it is difficult to find an important specialist. Dilapidated career guidance tests are no longer being injected, and it is generally impossible to find a child’s predisposition to one or another specialty by just one test. This process is delicate, extensive and absolute.

– Eat, approximately, Klimov’s group “man-nature-man”, and according to this systematization, ecologist and veterinarian are specialties that both look at the sphere of “human-nature”, Simona Filimonova says. “However, ecologist and veterinarian – these are not the same educational institutions, regardless of the different specialties. Or, it is permissible, what kind of career guidance event can show that both an ecologist and a veterinarian are suitable for this teenager, and if the “human” sphere is also necessary, and there will be added, approximately, the specialties of a hairdresser, teacher and secretary – then, naturally, in a bowler hat with a child porridge will appear. And it will come out: send them to orient themselves, but in the end they got confused.

Or, approximately, according to a different systematization, a lawyer and a culturologist – apparently absolutely different specialties – are brought together by the fact that they are “humanitarian”. For their representatives, there can be one and the same set of intellectual and personal indicators: goodwill, the ability to establish contact, diplomacy, a sweeping horizon, the ability to highlight the majestic and so far away. And for the specialties of an economist and a programmer, the ability for physical and mathematical sciences is equally majestic. So testing can show several specialties – like an economist, a programmer, and something else. And for the teenager who came to his senses, passed the tests and received this leaflet, there will be even more uncertainty. Career guidance is more profound, as if one is visited for the diagnosis of abilities – intellectual, characterological, personal and, perhaps, even carnal. As a result, the output is not even a craft, but a course or a list of some objects that the child is recommended to explore.

Children are in the most difficult situation

— In the situation of ever-greater challenges in the world, complexities, uncertainties and diversity, orientations in the future are also changing, — says Professor Asmolov. – In this regard, the classic career guidance schemes, which are now eaten, do not work hard. These are disaster risk schemes for both children and parents. When I think about it, I recall in one gulp the candidate’s dissertation, which lay on my desk in the Soviet years.
