University business

The future founder of SAS was born on January 6, 1943 in Salisbury, North Carolina. James’s father owned a hardware store, where his son often worked part-time after school. But James preferred science to the family business: of the subjects, he loved mathematics and chemistry the most, and it was the chemistry teacher who influenced his choice.

Goodnight, project leader Anthony James Barr, fellow programmer Johnn Soll, and another documentation partner Jane Helwig set up an office in a house directly across from the university. “Working with Goodnight was torture”

Now there are two people left from the original management of the company – Goodnight and Sull. They are the only owners of it. James Goodnight is an active philanthropist whose philanthropic work spans education and culture as well as humanitarian organizations.
