Johns Hopkins Child Care and Early Learning Center (Bright Horizons)
Located on the East Baltimore campus, the Johns Hopkins Child Care and Early Learning Center is designed to serve full-time faculty and staff, full-time day students, house staff, and fellows of the Johns Hopkins University schools of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health; and full-time employees of Johns Hopkins Hospital, Health System, and Bayview Medical Center. The center is open to children ages 6 weeks through preschool for full-time care.

JHU Child Care Scholarships
The university has taken steps to make sure that cost is not a prohibitive factor for JHU families that are using one of the three centers that are Johns Hopkins partners—the Homewood Early Learning Center, Bright Horizons at the School of Medicine, and the Weinberg Early Childhood Center. In addition to child care vouchers, we now have a pool of scholarship funds that will make sure children from any economic background can join these learning communities.

The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Child Care Center enrolls children 2 to 5 years of age. Admission priority is given to employees of Bayview Medical Center.
Sherman Early Childhood center
The Sherman Early Childhood Center offers priority placement for infants to five-year-old children of full-time Johns Hopkins University faculty, staff, and students/learners. What are the providers of social services for the elderly, and what do they offer?

I would like to start by saying that, despite the ups and downs of the times, our country is still a social one, and older people have every right to receive social services in various forms.
Under certain conditions: age, financial condition, loss of ability to self-service, inability to care for relatives, a person can apply to the state and expect to receive social assistance.
What kind of care is there
There are three types of care.
- The first one is home help. This includes the help of a social worker, a nurse or some other type of assistance.
- The second is a day hospital, where certain services are provided, while a person spends the night at home.
- And the third form – when a person is placed in a hospital, and he either spends the rest of his life or some time necessary for him to adapt, spends in this hospital.
Any older person can count on any of these forms of assistance.
However, I want to make a small remark – in our country, relatives are obliged to take care of their elderly relatives. This is a factor that should be taken into account by everyone, including children and grandchildren.
How to get help
Legislative acts and all the executive part of this assistance are not tied to the federal state – this is done by territorial authorities: various departments, ministries – regional and city.

In general, we have created an excellent structure for receiving assistance, it really works.
There is one “but” – we have a declarative principle of receiving assistance in our country. That is, the person himself or his relatives must declare to the authorized bodies that they need this help.
It is very easy to do this – if we are talking about Moscow, then in any MFC. In the regions, too, as a rule, this is done through the MFC. Where there are none, a person or his relative goes to the TSSC, the territorial center of social services and submits an application – fills out a form, indicates his data: full name, passport, address. And, oddly enough, the state has now even assumed the responsibility for requesting documents.
Further, the application is automatically transferred to the territorial center of social services at the place of residence. Then the TSCO asks for two certificates: an extract from the house book and a certificate from the pension fund on the amount of income that the applicant receives. It can be not only a pension, but also other income or payments.
There is a small nuance here: if a person lives alone, then only his income is considered. If a person lives with someone, then the total income is considered.
As a result, provided that the retirement age has come and if a person has an income, whether personal or total, less than one and a half minimum wage, he has the right to receive social assistance free of charge.
Appointment of the type of assistance
After sending the application for a house, a social worker, the so-called typer, comes to the person, who evaluates a number of factors.
He looks at the living conditions of an elderly person: how he lives, where, how convenient the conditions are, and so on. Further determines his mental and physical abilities – with the help of a series of tests and a survey.
An important point: when a typist conducts a survey of a future recipient of social services, it is imperative that a relative or trusted person be present. Why? Because very often older people exaggerate their capabilities a little.
There are many who can’t even get out of bed, but they say that they do exercises in the morning, they work out with dumbbells. They may say that they walk every day without getting out of bed, and so on.
If the typist takes his word for it, then the person will not receive the help he expected.
All collected data is loaded into the program, and then it automatically determines the necessary form of care and the number of services.
Services are divided into social, social, medical, socio-psychological, and so on.
As a result, a person receives a so-called IPPSU document in his hands – an individual program for the recipient of social services, where each service is signed in great detail, for example, cooking, feeding, cleaning the apartment. It is also scheduled how many times a week, how long this service is, and so on.
Types of social service providers
The most interesting thing is that social assistance is provided by both state and non-state service providers.
When the territorial office issues a referral, there is a line at the bottom with a recommendation about who to go to. And, as a rule, for some reason, territorial state bodies enter only state service providers there. But after all, in the register of services, there are also proven, well-proven non-state providers.

Anyone can find this document if they wish. Type in any search engine “registry of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the City of Moscow stationary social services or home”, and it drops out. The same works with other cities.
The list of services provided by state and non-state providers is exactly the same.
The only thing is that both those and those can provide some additional services for a fee – this list of services may vary. And if the program did not prescribe something, and relatives would like to have such a service, you can choose it for an additional fee.
Then a contract is simply signed, and the person receives social assistance for a year.
How to choose a supplier
I advise you to read reviews. There are many groups on social networks: on Facebook, Instagram, where relatives recommend certain suppliers, certain boarding houses.
Regarding free places: I will not dissemble, it is difficult to get into good boarding houses, there is always a queue for them. But, as a rule, it is limited to a month or two.
If you don’t like the service
If a person is dissatisfied with the service, he can complain to the territorial social security authorities. The territorial center is obliged to consider and give its answer. In case of illegal actions of the supplier or failure to fulfill his obligations, he will be replaced automatically and instantly.
If you have chosen the option that seems to you the best, then after a year, going through the typing again and receiving a new IPSS, you can say that you want to choose another provider or a specific boarding house included in the register of social service providers.
