New section of the Gold Line. Los Angeles, USA

Original taken from subbotazh New Gold Line section. Los Angeles, USA

The Gold Line is a 50 km Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro branded) light rail line that links Azusa to East Los Angeles through downtown. The line, one of six in the Metro Rail system, entered service in 2003. Gold Line includes 27 stations, two of which are underground. On March 5, a new 18 km section of the Gold Line, the so-called Foothill Extension, was opened. nine0016

The Foothill Extension includes six new stations in five San Gabriel Valley suburbs: Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa. It is planned to extend the line further to the Ontario airport via Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont and Montclair.

The last time trams ran through the streets of Santa Monica was back in 1953.

On the first day of operation, travel along the entire line was free.

The opening of the new section marked the approaching length of the entire system to the 100 mile mark.

$1 Billion Site Construction Cost

The line will change the lives of San Gabriel Valley residents who are often stuck in traffic on the Santa Monica Freeway leading to downtown Los Angeles.

According to preliminary calculations, by 2035 the new section of the Gold Line will add 13,600 additional passengers per day to the total number of passengers carried by the line. nine0009

Due to the expansion, new P3010 cars were added to the line, built under The Buy-America-complian program at Kinkisharyo International’s new plant in Palmdale, California, using Japanese and American components.

Unfortunately, the joy of the opening was spoiled: the next day, the truck crashed into the Gold Line car and damaged the supports and the track, thus blocking traffic throughout the new section.

Is this a separate mode of transport? Managed by the same office as the metro, in terms of transfers integrated with it. Ground/subterranean is generally an insignificant sign. New line section Los Angeles, USA: subbotazh — LiveJournal
