Daycare Reviews | World of Knowledge Learning Center

What Parent’s Say!

Justine Sarabia

“If you want your child to learn, need someone trustworthy to not only care for your child but teach your child, World of Knowledge is your place!”

“My name is Justine Sarabia I am a parent of one child attending this great daycare! My other two children also attended here before enrolling in head start. I love this daycare! We moved here from a center that was not too professional, a teacher hit my daughter and since moving here my children have learned not only academically, but emotionally to trust, share, love and I love how safe the environment is. Our teachers and staff are 100% helpful and understanding and do anything to make sure the children learn, have fun and grow ready for regular school. This is the best center I’ve had my children in. My children have been here since 9 months, 1 year, and 2 years old. (The youngest is now 3 years old and he is still here). If you want your child to learn, need someone trustworthy to not only care for your child but teach your child, World of Knowledge is your place!”

Wendy Scripter

“My son has been going to World of Knowledge for over 2 years now and he is absolutely flourishing.”

“My son has been going to World of Knowledge for over 2 years now and he is absolutely flourishing. All the staff are warm and inviting. My son just loves his teachers! I would never hesitate to recommend this daycare center to anyone.”

Tia Pleasant

“The staff is caring, respectful, and understanding & they treat everyone that walks through their doors like family.

“I have three children that attend World of Knowledge and I couldn’t be happier with the care that they receive while there for roughly twelve hours a day. The staff is phenomenal! They go above and beyond to ensure every child’s milestones are met, and my children are excelling to prove that their hard work and passion is paying off. The staff is caring, respectful, and understanding and they treat everyone that walks through their doors like family. World of Knowledge is more than a daycare; the children really grow and learn here. They have a safe facility with 24/7 cameras and pin access doors. The play areas are enclosed and monitored by the staff during business hours. They keep the building sanitized and clean and provide fresh, warm meals for the children. Every child is well rested, full, and happy throughout the day. World of Knowledge Learning Center is truly a home away from home for my kids. I appreciate the dedication that is put forth in caring for my children. Thank you World of Knowledge team!”

Desiree Alderete

The food is great! My youngest baby eats everything, which is also another great reason I love the center.

“Every day I ask my kids how they feel about their day here at World of Knowledge, and as always they say different good things. Ms. Reyna and Ms. Dalia have been so great with my son. He loves to walk into class and see Ms. Reyna, she’s great! Every day that I have brought my kids I’ve never experienced anything I needed to question. The food is great! My youngest baby eats everything, which is also another great reason I love the center. All the staff have always been great to us and are greatly appreciated. Thank you to director Cristina, she has always been the kindest. I love how she treats every child as her family. Thank you for all Ms. Chris has done. Thank you to you all!”

Vanessa Osburn

“the atmosphere made me feel comfortable and confident that my child would receive more than just care.

“Words cannot express just how thankful and appreciative I am for all the staff at World of Knowledge. I enrolled my first born at World of Knowledge when he was 6 months old. Prior to that, my husband and I visited and interviewed with several other daycares and none of them seemed like the right fit. However, when we visited World of Knowledge, the atmosphere made me feel comfortable and confident that my child would receive more than just care. The staff at World of Knowledge plan daily lessons for the students and keep track of their academic, social and life skills growth, which as an educator, I value very much. After, having my 2nd child, I decided that he would enroll at World of Knowledge even if it means driving 15 minutes out of my daily commute. The staff is friendly, reliable, and the directors are always willing to respond to any questions or concerns. I definitely recommend World of Knowledge and I am grateful for all they have done to build up, support and care for my boys.”

Making education accessible to everyone: 5 stories about courage, talent and the ability to see things differently

The right to education is one of the most significant human rights. Despite this, 773 million adults worldwide cannot read or write. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation has only worsened, with many schools forced to close to slow the spread of the virus. “With schools remaining closed, 31 million students around the world are still unable to return to normal life,” UN chief António Guterres recently tweeted.

Today, on International Education Day, we would like to remind you of the value of knowledge. For its part, the UNSDG supports the work of UN country teams operating in 162 countries and territories around the world to make education accessible to all.

Communities and organizations are mobilizing to ensure that people have access to quality education no matter what. And it also happens that, realizing the role of education in building a peaceful and prosperous society, people themselves take matters into their own hands. We have compiled five very different stories for you about the pursuit of knowledge and the desire to turn it to the benefit of humanity and the planet.

Innovation at school: (not) an ordinary laboratory

Pictured: Schoolchildren testing VR equipment.

Photo: © UNICEF/ Anush Babajanyan

Conducting scientific experiments is a fascinating and interesting activity. But what if schools can’t afford the cost of lab equipment and maintenance? Can they turn to technology as an alternative?

Absolutely. This is exactly what five students from a private school in Armenia proved by using the power of VR – or virtual reality – to safely and cost-effectively simulate laboratory experiments in chemistry.

As one of the students, Hasmik Baghdasaryan (16), said, their team wanted to “do something really useful […] and create an alternative that would be really interesting for the students”.

“We explored several alternatives to the usual real-world experiments,” says another team member Satenik Harutyunyan (18), “but ultimately settled on VR as the most cost-effective, educational, and practical approach.”

Their VR Labs project was one of the winners of the Generation Unlimited Youth Challenge in Armenia, a youth innovation competition organized by UNICEF and UNDP.

The team plans to present their project to the Armenian Ministry of Education and Science and hope that their development will inspire other students – especially girls – to study science.

More information about the VR Labs project can be found on the UNICEF Armenia website.

Indigenous families receive education through distance learning

Pictured: For the Hidalgo family, print materials are an important part of distance learning.

Photo: © UNICEF Costa Rica/Ezequiel Becerra/2021

Over 104,000 indigenous people live in Costa Rica. Approximately 41% of this population is lagging behind in learning. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face classes became unavailable and the situation only worsened.

The Hidalgo family, living in the territory of the indigenous people of Boruca in the province of Puntarenas (Costa Rica), has two adults and four children.

There are great difficulties in getting an education in the region, but this does not stop the family. Hidalgo actively use the possibilities of distance learning programs to gain knowledge.

Evelyn Hidalgo is raising three daughters and a son while studying online. She is currently writing her graduate thesis in consultation with her Zoom supervisor.

Her nine-year-old son Enok, who “loves being at home and working with his family,” is a fourth grade remote student.

UNICEF and UNESCO are supporting national distance learning programs while supporting the government’s strategy for a safe and gradual return to face-to-face learning.

Read the story of the Hidalgo family on the UNCT Costa Rica website.

Government and private sector join forces to increase access to vocational training

Pictured: Accelerating Thailand has created new opportunities for young people and adults from low-income families to enroll in skills development courses.

Somrudi (28) works as a volunteer in one of the rural hospitals. She once tried to write a support application for low-income women in her community who were looking for funding to start a business and generate additional income during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite being enthusiastic and willing to help, Somrudi lacked the skills to complete the document. The prospects for women in the community, and indeed her own, began to look bleak to her.

It was Somrudi who decided to take part in the Accelerating Thailand project, a public-private partnership initiative with the participation of Microsoft Thailand, the Thai government, UNESCO in Bangkok and other organizations. This project aims to teach adults and youth how to use computers and other technical skills

During the course, Somrudi learned how to write project proposals and other documentation. “The staff complimented me on my self-approval of the budget,” she smiles, speaking of a task she had not been able to complete before.

In addition to Somrudi, more than 100,000 people took part in the project. Nearly 23,000 former members of Accelerating Thailand subsequently reported an improvement in their personal and professional status.

Poor eyesight is not an obstacle to gaining knowledge

“My teachers were able to teach me how to read and write so that I didn’t overexert myself,” says Rafat.

Rafat, a slightly awkward nine-year-old boy from Syria, had to overcome many difficulties in order to learn to read and write. He and his family were forced to leave their home due to the outbreak of the conflict. They were in the status of displaced persons for two years, and all this time the boy could not attend school.

But then a training center opened in their area, supported by UNICEF and Education Cannot Wait, the UN’s global fund for providing education during emergencies and protracted crises.

It was not easy for Rafat to return to school because of his poor eyesight, he was constantly bullied. However, he did not give up. Thanks to the classes he received at the center, Rafat regained his confidence. In addition, the center picked up suitable glasses for the boy to make it more convenient for him to practice.

“In class, I learned how important education is for my future and how it will help me succeed in life,” Rafat says emphatically.

Due to the lack of training and the slow development of the labor market, young people in northern Chad feel they have no choice but to leave the country in search of better opportunities.

Hamid (23) left school at 16 to move to Libya with his friends. After four failed attempts, he changed his mind and decided to stay in Chad. But he could no longer go back to school, he was “too many years old.”

Unable to continue his schooling, the young man decided to study electrical engineering as part of a vocational training program in the northern city of Faya. The program is jointly implemented by IOM and WFP with financial support from the UN Peacebuilding Fund.
