How much does an Amazon Product Manager make? Well, there are lots of, shall we say “speculative” answers to this question online. The goal of this page is to cut through the noise and provide the real data based on our experience with 100s of tech negotiations and 1000s of submitted offers. Below, we’ve listed the top of band compensation for multiple Amazon Product Manager levels. There is also a bonus section at the bottom with info on negotiating Amazon Product Manager offers.

Amazon Product Manager Offer Components

  • Amazon base salary:

    base salary at Amazon is fairly standard. The one unique element was that for almost all of 2021 there was a $160K/$185K base salary cap in Seattle/SF

  • Amazon equity (RSUs):

    Amazon’s equity vesting schedule is non-standard and heavily back weighted. You will vest equity (i.e. you receive shares) over a 4 year period but only 5% in year 1, 15% year 2, 40% in year 3 and 4. Amazon quotes a specific number of shares rather than dollar value, but you can calculate a decent approximation of the dollar value by looking at the average share price over the past month

  • Amazon signing bonus:

    Amazon has a signing bonus in year 1 and year 2. These are typically much larger than at other companies to make up for the tiny portion of equity that is vesting in year 1 and 2

  • Amazon performance bonus:

    Amazon does not have set targets for performance bonuses. You shouldn’t factor this into your total comp at Amazon

  • Amazon stock refreshers:

    Amazon stock refreshers are very hit or miss and depend on your manager/team in addition to your own performance. You will almost always receive additional stocks at the end of your initial 4-year grant, but the usual stacking of stock refreshers in year 2 and 3 doesn’t typically happen at Amazon

Note: Amazon has 3 distinct PM bands: non-technical, technical (PM-T), and technical in AWS (PMT-ES). The data on this page focuses on top of band for PM-T positions in Seattle. PMT-ES offers are higher. And of course, Program Manager (PgM) and Technical Program Manager (TPM) are entirely different roles. Lastly, levelling is critical to understanding compensation bands. If you aren’t familiar with Amazon levels (which are quite unique), skip to the bottom to read this.

These top of band numbers are Seattle – SF/NYC have higher comp bands. As a reminder, Amazon’s level structure is unique and an L5 PM at Amazon is equivalent to an IC4 PM at Facebook or Google.

In addition to PMT-ES offers being higher, people managers also have different comp bands that are slightly larger than the numbers listed above.

Amazon Product Manager Negotiation

So now you’ve got the comp data, are you ready to negotiate? Not quite.

First off, comp data is constantly changing and Amazon made significant modifications to its compensation approach in 2022. Early 2022 numbers are already coming in higher than the 2021 numbers listed above, and it’s critical to know the full range for each component to optimize your negotiation. Amazon also fundamentally changed how they structure offers with the removal of their artificially low base salary caps. But even more than that, many people think knowing the compensation data is the most important part of a negotiation, but it’s not. You can go tell your Amazon recruiter that you read online the top of band is $X and you want that number, but in 90% of cases that won’t work. So what will?

Companies negotiate when they believe you won’t accept their offer. But, since you just finished a long and arduous interview process with them, they know you are likely to accept the job unless you have higher competing offers from other great companies.

This means you need to create leverage and make it believable that you are considering other options but would prefer Amazon if the compensation is comparable. This sounds easy but quickly becomes challenging if you don’t have other offers or if your other offers aren’t higher than the top of band comp numbers you are targeting.

Assuming you do have a higher competing offer (i.e. above your top of band target) from another good company, the negotiation can still be surprisingly difficult. Amazon has many unusual policies. For example, they by default assume 15% stock appreciation in their offers – though they don’t openly disclose it. This means they will claim to have “matched” a competing offer when in fact their offer is much lower. There are multiple rules like this at Amazon, and the strategies that we’ve found work best to get around them are often not intuitive. In our experience, Amazon’s comp team operates like a bureaucracy where through trial and error you can figure out how to reliably turn specific pieces of information (inputs) into your target output.

Amazon does not follow industry standards when it comes to levelling, though to be fair many companies take a unique approach. We’d recommend using Google levels as the benchmark. Other companies like Facebook, DoorDash, etc. use the Google system just with different names (e.g. IC5/L5/E5 are the same at those companies). Amazon inflates levels by +1 for more junior levels (e.g. Amazon L4 = Google L3, both are entry level positions). However, this trend breaks at Amazon L7, which is closer to Google L7 than Google L6 in terms of compensation and scope. The 3 other main levelling systems to be aware of are: 1) Microsoft where 65 = Amazon L6 2) Apple where ICT4 is in between Amazon L5 and L6 3) Stripe/Robinhood/etc. where L2/IC2 = Amazon L5.

If you’re applying for a Product Manager role at Amazon, your tier level will depend on your level of experience and the skills you bring to the table. Product Manager roles are essentially senior roles, so they naturally attract higher salaries. Below are the Product Manager Levels at Amazon:

Stock Options Offered to Amazon Product Managers

Amazon offers Product Managers exciting stock options in addition to other compensation-related benefits. Product Managers are offered Restricted Stock Units that usually have a vesting period of 4 years. The extent of units offered is proportional to the level of seniority. Directors and Senior Directors are usually offered less in bonuses and more in stock options. Additionally, the vesting period depends on the total number of stock units received. Usually, it is 4 years. 

Here’s how the vesting period pans out for Product Managers at Amazon over the 4 years:

Big US technology companies have powered their way through the pandemic, posting impressive growth, minting money, and hiring rapidly.

In July of last year, the tech-industry association CompTIA reported that the sector experienced job growth in 10 out of the previous 12 months — a standout performance given the lockdowns last year. Tech firms added more than 80,000 workers in the US through the first half of 2021, it added.

Google’s parent company, Alphabet, hired more than 4,000 employees in the second quarter alone. Overall, more than 300,000 open tech jobs were posted in June, with software and app developers, IT-support specialists and project managers, systems engineers and architects, and systems analysts in highest demand. Jobs in emerging tech, such as AI, accounted for more than a quarter of open positions.

Companies are required to disclose information including salary (or, in some cases, salary ranges) when they hire foreign workers under the H-1B visa program, giving insight into what these tech giants are willing to shell out for talent.

So, to get a sense of what salaries in the industry are like these days, Business Insider analyzed the US Office of Foreign Labor Certification’s disclosure data for permanent and temporary foreign workers to find out what companies pay employees in key roles, including engineers, designers, and salespeople.

Google’s software engineers can make more than $300,000.

Google is often touted as one of the best places to work, with compensation to match.

A software engineer was offered $353,000, a vice president of engineering can get $475,000, and a senior vice president recently took in an annual salary of $650,000.

Here’s a look at many other positions and how much they pay across Google.

The company’s Cloud business has been aggressively building out its workforce as it tries to catch its larger cloud rivals Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

Here’s a peek at the salaries Google Cloud pays US-based engineers, managers, and more.

Amazon cloud-solutions architects are paid $90,800 to $185,000, depending on location and skills.

Amazon’s cloud unit, now run by Adam Selipsky, has continued hiring for technical and business talent to support its dominant cloud-computing business.

Insider reviewed more than 200 H-1B visas that Amazon’s cloud unit applied for from January to June to reveal how much it paid software developers, data scientists, marketers, salespeople, business analysts, and more. The highest-paid employees, according to that data, can make as much as $185,000 in base salary.

Apple closed another successful fiscal year in September 2021, growing revenue by 33% and generating $95 billion in profit from sales of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other devices and services.

Analysts have predicted that the tech giant is on track to become the first company to hit $3 trillion in market value this year after being the first to reach the $1 trillion and $2 trillion marks — and Apple is bringing on a cadre of visa-holding overseas workers to help it.

Apple’s advertising is legendary, and its broader marketing efforts are integral to the company’s success. The iPhone maker regularly gets attention for its cinematic campaigns. The company sponsors visas for a range of well-paid marketing jobs. 

Here are the salaries of advertising- and marketing-focused roles at Apple and other tech giants including Airbnb and Facebook.

Most salaries at Dell are in the six-figure range — with some exceptions

Heightened demand for hardware during the pandemic led to record earnings for companies like Dell despite supply chain woes. Some employees reaped nearly $200,000 for their part in the company’s boom.

While senior-level roles tend to be top earners, an Insider analysis of 381 approved H-1B visas for Dell workers found that a technical staff member in software engineering based in Texas earned $198,083.

It’s a top range salary, but many other roles across engineering, analyst and sales positions earned at least six figures — with exceptions, like some business and sales analysts.

Senior DoorDash jobs in engineering and sales make upwards of $250,000

DoorDash’s service has become a staple for households around the country. The company is getting into rapid grocery delivery and expanding overseas, and it has been paying to attract the right employees for these growing ambitions.

A software engineer at DoorDash can make as much as $250,000 in annual salary, according to compensation data compiled by Insider. A project manager on the growth side can pull in $240,000 a year. And on the business side, a director of sales strategy and operations is paid $265,000 a year.

These high salaries across technical and business roles reflect the company’s need to attract talent as it competes against big rivals.

IBM employees can make as much as $335,000 in base salary.

Under CEO Arvind Krishna, IBM is trying to reinvent itself for the cloud-computing era, dominated so far by Amazon, Microsoft, Alibaba, and Google.

IBM’s 2019 purchase of the open-source-software firm Red Hat for $34 billion was a defining moment when the company bet big on hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence. Part of IBM’s reinvention includes growing its 350,000-strong employee base to add engineering talent in cloud, hybrid cloud, and AI, as well as in fields like strategy, consulting, and business analysis.

Business Insider analyzed the 241 H-1B visas IBM applied for since January to find out what it pays engineers, business analysts and consultants, digital strategists, and more. The highest-paid IBM employees can make as much as $335,000 in base salary, according to that data.

Instacart under new CEO Fidji Simo is doubling down on working with grocery stores for its delivery service. And the company is hiring up on the corporate side to carry this strategy out.

Right now the company has more than 100 open positions listed on its website. And a look at the salaries it’s paying shows the company is willing to spend big, especially for technical roles.

An engineering manager makes $240,000 in salary; senior software engineers make upwards of $190,000. On the business side, an account executive makes $160,000.

Intel engineering managers can make more than $300,000.

Intel is battling slowing revenue growth, shrinking margins, and rising competition from Taiwan Semiconductor, AMD, Nvidia, and others.

There’s also a semiconductor shortage to contend with, while marquee customers like Apple are designing their own chips.

For all of this, Intel relies on scientists, researchers, managers, marketers, and different types of software and hardware engineers.

Here’s a peek at the salaries Intel pays some of these employees, based on roles from almost 1,000 approved visa applications that the company filed with authorities.

Engineering roles at Lyft range make between $122,000 and $189,100

Lyft may be the second place ridesharing company by revenue, but employee salaries are still on par with its number one competitor, Uber.

Engineers at Lyft — depending on the speciality — can earn between $122,000 and $189,100, with engineering managers making $235,654. The averages are based on an Insider analysis of salary data from the US Office of Foreign Labor Certification.

A Facebook engineering director can make roughly $360,000

Facebook employees consistently make well into the six figures. An in-house ad-agency director hired in the past year earns a salary of just over $330,000. An engineering director makes roughly $360,000.

Pay depends on the job, of course, but increasingly on where the worker is based, too. A data analyst in California, for example, makes $130,000 to $150,000 a year. One data analyst in Texas makes $128,000, and another $111,000. A software engineer in New York makes $160,000. One in Rhode Island and another in Texas make $118,000 a year.

Here are all the latest data on Facebook salaries.

Microsoft’s highest-paying jobs include software engineers, sales managers, and researchers.

We analyzed Microsoft’s more than 1,400 active foreign-worker visas in 2020 to find the titles with the highest salaries and provided a salary range for each role.

We focused this list on roles that pay $175,000 or more at the high end of the range and categorized them based on information we found in job postings. The highest salary we found, for a channel sales manager, was $250,000.

In internal Microsoft surveys obtained by Business Insider, 55% of staff said in 2020 that their combined salary, bonus, and equity was competitive with similar jobs at other companies, down from 65% in 2017.

Here’s the full list of jobs and salaries, covering positions such as cloud-solutions architect, legal counsel, silicon engineer, and software engineering lead.

Salesforce is embracing a hybrid mindset, giving employees the option to work remotely part time, and it expects to increase its number of permanently remote workers, too.

That flexibility is opening up talent pools for the company. Last September, the company said it was planning to add over 12,000 jobs over the next year. And Chief People Officer Brent Hyder told the San Francisco Chronicle last April that Salesforce’s hiring spree this year would exceed 15,000 employees.

Insider analyzed the 206 H-1B visas Salesforce applied for from January to March to find out how much it paid workers in areas like engineering, data analytics, and product management. Software engineers can make more than $200,000 in salary, the data showed.

Snap offers base salaries ranging from $59,000 to $500,000.

Snap, the company behind Snapchat, has had a growth spurt. And it’s been staffing up to support ambitions in areas like augmented reality, short-form video, and original shows. The company now has about 4,000 employees in 15 countries.

Snap said in May that it was committed to paying all employees a livable wage that “contributes to healthy work-life integration and to the local economy in which we work.” It offers a minimum of $15,000 in equity grants to new hires and said its baseline annual pay rate for employees at its headquarters in Santa Monica is $70,000.

In late 2020 and 2021, Snap offered annual base salaries ranging from $59,000 to $500,000 for various roles, according to data from H-1B visa applications analyzed by Business Insider.

TikTok salaries range from $60,000 to nearly half a million dollars

ByteDance and its subsidiary TikTok, the social media app that skyrocketed in popularity last year, paid employees $59,700 to $480,000 in 2020 and 2021, according to approved foreign labor certification applications reviewed by Insider.

Technology roles trended toward the high end of the pay scale, with senior engineering directors taking home $440,000 to $480,000 annually. At the low end, staff accountants earned $59,700 and HR generalists made $68,408.

Across all positions, the median annual base salary at TikTok and ByteDance was $188,500.

Here are the salaries of product, engineering, data science, research, monetization and other roles at TikTok and ByteDance.

Uber competes with the biggest Silicon Valley companies, and its salaries show that.

Though Uber has gone through rounds of job cuts in recent years, its compensation for many full-time positions is competitive with the biggest Silicon Valley tech firms.

Senior engineers can earn salaries of well over $200,000, while data scientists can pull in almost $150,000 and senior product managers can make about $190,000 or more, excluding any equity or bonus.

Few industries are blowing up like artificial intelligence and big data. PitchBook estimated that spending on AI software and hardware would reach $138 billion in 2021 and grow at a rate of 23% in the next three years.

All that investment fuels an equally explosive jobs market. The job-search site ZipRecruiter showed more than 60,000 AI-engineer jobs listed. Those roles pay very well, with annual compensation as high as $304,500.

Waymo relies heavily on AI to train the software that controls its autonomous vehicles. The Alphabet unit pays $122,000 to $300,000, depending on the type of job and location, according to the data.

Amazon gave up and raised salaries for employees / Habr

Bezos was still broken. After all the stories about the horrors that are happening behind closed doors of Amazon warehouses, and the introduction of a new bill in Congress aimed specifically at him, the other day he nevertheless announced that he was raising the minimum wage for all Amazon employees in the US and Britain. On such a solution, according to rumors, the online store will lose several billion every year. But do not discount the old Jeff, he has a cunning plan.

Previously, according to the US Securities Commission (SEC), the median salary at Amazon was $28,446 per year, or about $13.68 per hour. For comparison, the median income in the United States is about $40,000, and Bezos himself makes such a profit every 10 seconds.

In many cities, such wages did not allow workers to even pay their rent. Thousands of Amazon warehouse employees were actually homeless, and tens of thousands were taking government jobs. support in the form of Medicaid and food stamps. Senators and the public, led by “America’s chief socialist” Bernie Sanders, have tried to force the company to take better care of its employees – especially considering its financial performance (Amazon recently became the second company in the world after Apple, whose share price passed the $ 1 trillion mark). ).

Amazon had counterarguments. For example, the fact that offline retailers have even lower salaries, that the company has created 130,000 new jobs in a year, and that their warehouse employees receive 30% more than the market average. Starting November 1, the company is holding the largest one-time pay increase in its history. Economists say that Amazon very wisely decided to raise the salary just in time for November, when the main selling time begins. Last year, Amazon sold $2.6 billion worth of goods on Black Friday. Half of all online purchases in the US came from a single online store. This year, if workers went on strike, or if they failed to hire an additional 100,000 hands, the company would risk losing its profits during the main days of the year. Rumors have already surfaced that the company will struggle to hire its traditional 100,000 temporary employees for the next two months due to competition from other retailers.

But now, with all risks removed and with the US economy growing, Amazon’s profits for Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Christmas are almost guaranteed to be higher than last year. And that means continued explosive growth of the company’s shares. Employees are regularly assessed based on their performance. But an interesting detail is that they are not informed of the established standards in advance. Whether the actions comply with the established standards, the person learns from the scanner when he receives a warning. The same scanner urges the worker on to speed up.

Constantly harassed by the company, many workers are injured – but some continue to work with injuries as Amazon routinely fires employees who fall short of regulations without taking into account certain types of injuries. For example, the Center for Investigative Journalism found that at Amazon, severe injuries in warehouses are in some cases more than five times higher than the industry average.

Some Amazon employees who work in the company’s warehouses are so afraid of losing their jobs that they don’t even spend working time going to the bathroom. According to The Sun, people urinated in bottles out of fear of being reprimanded for downtime and losing their jobs.

Physical and emotional stress leads to widespread problems with both physical and mental health. About moving to Germany

Food and home: €1,400⁣ (R124,600). We don’t skimp on food and love good wines. Of this amount, 300⁠—⁠400 €⁣ (26,700⁠—⁠35,600 R) are spent on wine: I collect a wine collection in the basement. Before the pandemic, this also included trips to restaurants and bars a couple of times a month.

Rental housing: 900 €⁣ (80 100 R), including utilities and internet.

We live in the city center in an old house. The apartment is small – 70 m², but very beautiful, with wooden floors and stucco on the ceilings. It has an original layout: only the bedroom is isolated, while the hall, kitchen, dining room and living room are one space. There is also a storage room and a bathroom with a large window.

It is not profitable for us to buy our own housing. This is unreasonably expensive, especially in the center of Hamburg, where there are almost no offers. Prices for apartments within a radius of 5 km from us start from 500,000 €⁣ (44,500,000 R).

Buying an apartment and renting it out is also pointless. Especially after the Mietpreisbremse law came into force: it limits the growth in rental prices. Now the owner cannot take more for rent than is set for a particular region. Even if there are hundreds of applicants.

From an investment point of view, the stock market is more attractive. Liquid and mobile assets give more freedom than real estate and credit bondage for decades. Therefore, we chose securities and a “house on water” for investments.

In addition, our rent is low. My husband has been living in this apartment for 12 years, and we pay under the old terms. These prices are long gone. The fact is that under an indefinite contract, the landlord cannot raise the rent, and it is very difficult to evict a tenant. In general, our fee is fixed until we ourselves move out.

Clothes: Over the past couple of years I have put together a beautiful and comfortable wardrobe that fits my lifestyle perfectly. Sometimes we travel separately: my husband surfs, and I love cultural and gastronomic trips to European cities. I can go to Amsterdam for a wine festival or Vienna to the opera. Cosmetics: on average 50 €⁣ (4450 R) per month. I buy Kiehl’s and Paula’s Choice skin care products, Sachajuan, Kerastase and Moroccanoil hair products, and L’Occitane, Gehwol body products. From decorative cosmetics, I only have mascara, eyebrow gel, powder and blush. I paint on occasion, so it lasts forever.

My husband invariably uses three Nivea products and some pharmacy shampoo.

Gifts: My husband and I do not have a tradition of giving each other gifts. I sometimes buy something for my relatives in Moscow, pay my mom for tickets for a trip or a subscription to a fitness club. It takes about 500 €⁣ (44,500 R) per year.

Services: iCloud — €1⁣ (R89) per month, Amazon Prime — €69⁣ (R6141) per year.

Sports: before the pandemic, I went to a yoga and martial arts studio. A subscription for 5 lessons per month cost 36 €⁣ (3204 R). And my husband’s fitness studio cost 24 €⁣ (2136 R) per month. But for more than six months, sports centers have been closed, and for now we are working out at home. I pay only a commission for the studio – 5 ⁣ (445 R) per month, and the subscription is frozen.

Taxes: In the questionnaire, I indicated our income after paying all taxes and fees. Income tax is withheld by the employer – this is 29.4%. The hardest thing was getting off the beauty needle. Previously, I painfully paid €200-⁠300⁣ (⁠17,800-⁠26,700 R) a month for manicures, pedicures, epilation and facial cleansing. But it turned out that I can do everything myself and do not become less attractive because of this.

I also removed all subscriptions: I realized that I do not use any music services, or online movie theaters, or an unlimited library.

Plus, we have become less likely to go to restaurants. Mainly because of the huge margins on wine, and I cook just as well.

But I don’t skimp on food, wine and travel: this is my passion, which brings me pleasure and joy every day. So my Russian crazy empress found a balance between the Italian dolce vita and the German ordnung and rationality.

Day one, Tuesday

07:40. I wake up without an alarm. My husband is already up and making tea. On the way to the bathroom, I turn on the dishwasher and throw in the laundry. I go back to bed with my laptop and phone. My husband and I met at a friends party in Berlin. I just got a diploma and a yachting license, and he had a yacht, and we went for a ride.

On the first date, he cooked meat antipasti – appetizers, and I was a vegetarian. However, she stayed overnight. A month later we left for Sri Lanka. There he put me on the surf, and I almost drowned on my birthday. But upon arrival, I packed my suitcase anyway and moved to live with him.

Since then, we have changed two yachts, two jobs, and almost drowned together once. Our couple is already in its sixth year, and in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, we got married.

A colleague writes that he was at an online conference last week and is posting materials to the public. See if there is anything useful for me. Alas, nothing interesting.

Since the beginning of the year, a new product has fallen into my portfolio at work. Last week, I made the first deals on it for the next month. I enter the product into a summary file – I built it in Excel for our division. Based on it, we monitor and plan sales volumes, and calculate profits. To do this, we take into account the dynamics of production, transport costs and market quotes. Essentially, I’m collecting information from a dozen corporate sources and collating them into one spreadsheet. And then the necessary arguments are pulled from it – and an analyst is displayed with a forecast until the end of the year. I believe that the world will be saved not by love, but by Excel.

When I moved, my parents were worried about me. After all, there was no guarantee that the adventure would end in success. But now they are happy for me, although they do not fully share my “non-traditional” values.

They saw their husband only twice: he does not speak Russian, and his parents speak foreign languages, so communication did not work out. We celebrated the wedding together: partly because of the corona, partly because we didn’t want to share our holiday with anyone.

14:00. While it’s light, I sit down to sew. We are preparing our 24ft yacht for sale. The husband is responsible for the work on the hull: polishing, painting, restoring the teak floor. And I’m wearing all the textiles: upholstery in the cabin, covers for sails and sprayhood – an awning that protects against splashes. Now I’m sewing a lazy bag.

At first, I enjoyed the home office. I didn’t get out of business trips for two years and I was very tired. At home, my husband and I hardly annoy each other: we feel good, and we do everything together. But after a year, I’m ready to return to the outside world. I missed my friends and client meetings, a normal gym, traveling, summer verandas, dancing and Friday nights.

And most of all I miss my sister: we are very close. She lives in Moscow with her husband and three children. They used to visit me regularly. We are really looking forward to the opening of the borders to see each other, talk and hug.

Or explain the symbols on the map: depths, navigational hazards.

Of the latter, I was impressed by Tara Westover’s The Apprentice. I also read “Normal People” and “Conversations with Friends” by Sally Rooney in one breath.

Most of our employees are men, due to the specifics of the industry. And almost all of my business partners are also much older than me. At first it was hard, but over time it became easier: experience and psychotherapy help. And also wine.

At work, I am mostly friends with colleagues from other departments. I have a neutral relationship with my team: we have different interests.

09:40. Hungry. I make two rye breads: one with goat cheese and cucumber, the other with egg and avocado. Avocado toast is a symbol of my generation.

I take the shrimp out of the freezer and put the eggplants in the oven. Then the usual morning kaleidoscope of shipments and quotes.

10:00. Call with the production team. The manager talks about the state of affairs and modernization projects. Very interesting – at such moments I regret a little that I am not an engineer.

11:00. Cooking lunch: bulgur salad with vegetables, squid and shrimp and green soup with zucchini, fresh peas and basil. I add some milk to the soup, otherwise it looks like Shrek in color.

The husband returned and brought a box of water. We buy carbonated mineral water in glass bottles. I spent 12 €⁣ (1068 R), but I do not include this in my expenses.

12:00. We have lunch, then my husband cleans the dishes and makes espresso.

Another variation of seafood salad

My husband and I intuitively shared household chores. I make the menu and plan the purchase of products. But we go after them together: it is pleasant for both of us. We love markets, specialized shops and good supermarkets.

I also cook mostly, but my husband has only a few signature dishes. So, he cooks artichokes best of all, and he is especially good at German classics. For example, Rinderrouladen – beef rolls stewed in wine with onions, bacon and pickles. Or Käsekuchen, the German version of cheesecake.

But the husband vacuums, washes the floors, cleans the kitchen and runs the dishwasher. He has his own concept, and he always shifts my bookmark. We do more thorough cleaning together, but, to be honest, my husband does it more often. I love cleaning, but I spend all day on it, and I rarely manage to carve it out entirely. I tried to invite a cleaner, but my husband said that not a single semi-professional fairy would clean up like him. Okay, boss, it’s up to you.

13:00. We work, I write a spending diary at the same time. It’s more difficult than I thought. We snack on tangerines and apples.

15:00. A phone call with the client’s lawyer: one claim about the quality of our product dragged on. The conversation is emotionally charged, and the lawyer uses forbidden tricks: presses, intimidates, paints terrible scenarios for the development of the situation, interrupts and does not allow arguments to be given. As a result, he switches to indirect accusations and turns me on a lot. I sharply say that I have the next call, and ask you to send all questions by mail. Discouraged, I take a breath.

My husband is leaving for a workout in the park, and I have a session with a psychotherapist.

16:00. I tell the therapist about the lawyer, crying from the accumulated tension. It seems that I said something wrong, reacted incorrectly. Then it becomes ashamed that I am so emotionally unstable and allow myself to be manipulated. The therapist says that I’m just alive and my reaction is absolutely normal. Unbelievable, but it is a fact!

I went to see a therapist in September 2020. Then the tension and anxiety became so unbearable that I could not sleep. The continuous internal dialogue was driving me crazy, and I didn’t know how to get out of it. I was tormented by the fear of mistakes, I strove to do everything perfectly in order to prove to myself and the world that I was the best and very strong.

I found a therapist through the Yasno service: it was important for me to speak Russian with him. We worked through the traumas and saw the ossified habits of my psyche. Now it’s easier for me to live through difficult emotions, my anxiety has decreased, and my sleep has improved. But it’s still difficult for me to be weak, I try to be good for everyone and I’m afraid not to live up to other people’s expectations.

17:00. I do a short workout to de-stress and listen to the Let’s Talk podcast. This week, every issue is about me. Now they are talking about vulnerability – that our strength is in weakness.

Presenters mention the work of psychologist Brené Brown, who explores the phenomenon of shame. I note that you need to download her audiobook “The Power of Vulnerability”. Spoiler: the book is very wise and useful for all excellent students and perfectionists.

18:00. Over dinner, we discuss the design of the ceiling on the new yacht. Now it is sheathed with panels covered with eco-leather – this is no good. Previously, I did not do repairs, but it turned out that there are more than twenty options for white alone.

My husband is a builder and restorer of sailing yachts by first education, and he will do all the interior woodwork himself. It remains to find a shipyard with a carpentry workshop.

And my ability to do something with my hands was limited to sewing an apron at labor lessons. But then we bought a professional typewriter, and I got carried away. I learned to sew from Don Casey’s Sailboat maintenance manual, which has a chapter called Canvas work and sail repair. I also watched training videos on YouTube from the sewing machine manufacturer Sailrite.

19:00. We have dinner and discuss plans for the weekend. We are thinking of going to friends for a barbecue.

The administrator of the salon where I get my haircut calls and offers to sign up. The government is lifting restrictions and barbershops are reopening next week. I gladly agree.

20:00. The husband watches the news and some documentary about animals. I’m looking at the tablet “My Brilliant Friend” in German translation. For two seasons she paid 34 €⁣ (3026 R).

In general, we don’t watch TV shows, but I was really looking forward to this one. It is based on the novel by Elena Ferrante. This is a difficult story of two friends, and the place of events is a dysfunctional quarter in Naples 1950s. The plot is very exciting, the problems of the post-war period are shown without embellishment: there is love, and violence, and discrimination against women, and the confrontation between the rich and the poor.

I love Ferrante and have read all her books. Although my Italian teacher would not appreciate my preferences. She believes that only housewives read Ferrante.

22:30. Before going to bed I read “The Goldfinch”. My husband graduated from Fitzgerald and also started Donna Tartt. We share a library at the Kindle, and we often read each other’s books. I say not to dare to read faster than me: he swallows two or three books a month, and I hang on one for several weeks.

17:00. The husband goes to the shower, and I prepare an aperitif. I open a bottle from a Portuguese store. This wine is made from the autochthonous Alfrocheiro and Jaen varieties, natural and unfiltered. I serve olives and sun-dried tomatoes with wine.

In winemaking I like bio- and biodynamic production. In the first, winemakers use organic fertilizers instead of chemicals and pesticides, and also take into account the interests of flora and fauna: spider beetles and weeds in the vineyard. This has a good effect on the condition of the soil, and the wine remains alive and reflects the individuality of the variety and region.

For dessert we have cheesecake, papaya and petit manzan from the vinotheque. In order to have a high concentration of sugar and aromatic components in it, the grapes dry on the vine to the state of raisins.

If it wasn’t for the pandemic, after dinner we would go somewhere to dance. And now we just move the table, turn on the new set of Scottish DJ Luke Una and dance until midnight.

My dream is glasses from the Austrian manufactory Zalto. They are thin and light, but they stand like a crystal palace – not the one that everyone thought about. But there is a problem: our dishes regularly break, and it hurts me to give 35 €⁣ (3115 R) for a new glass. And I don’t like to collect ceremonial services “for special occasions”.

Bill Gates stepped down as Microsoft CEO in 2008. Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin stepped down as CEO and president of Alphabet two years ago. Now it’s Jeff Bezos’ turn. In the third quarter of this year, he will step down as Amazon CEO to focus on his other projects: The Washington Post, the space program, the fight against climate change.

There was no doubt that Bezos would be replaced by a person from the company itself. In 1999, Amazon appointed an outside manager as the company’s second-in-command, luring Black and Decker’s Joe Galli to the presidency and CEO. He lasted about a year, after which he quit with the wording “for personal reasons. ” At the same time, Galli continued to publicly declare his commitment to companies from the “new economy” and after some time got a job as the CEO of the IT company VerticalNet.

These experiments were not repeated again. The intrigue around Bezos’ successor came down to the choice of two old-timers. The first, Jeff Wilke, led Amazon’s consumer business. But at the end of last summer, he announced that he was going to retire. Only Andy Jesse, chief executive of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Computing, remained. In the fourth quarter of last year, his unit’s net sales revenue was $12.7 billion and operating income was $3.6 billion, i.e. more than half of that of the entire Amazon.

Bezos gave Jesse as much freedom as possible, a source at the company tells Business Insider: “AWS is 100% Jesse’s show. Bezos doesn’t tell Andy what to do.” True, Bezos keeps an eye on big deals. How Jesse came to Amazon

In his early days at Amazon, Jesse, a Harvard graduate, often got into heated debates with sales managers about strategy and tactics. “You can’t just sit in a meeting and watch,” former employee Jesse told the FT. “People who don’t do their best in work meetings won’t get a second chance to shine, at least not for a long time,” another Amazon employee told Business Insider. Russian IT specialists work without diplomas

66% of Russian IT specialists do not have a specialized higher education, HeadHunter found out in his latest study. At the same time, the older the specialist, the less chance that he has a diploma in his specialty. Thus, among IT specialists aged 25 to 34, only 67% have a non-core education, while in the group of 45+, 78% of the study participants have a non-core education. The highest proportion of specialists working without a diploma is observed in the group of specialists with 3 to 9 work experienceyears.

Ranking of universities by media activity

The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia published the rating of media activity of universities for August 2022. The leader of the rating was Russian University of Economics named after Plekhanov , which retained this position since last year. American corporations Microsoft and Netflix have removed their CDN servers from the Moscow traffic exchange point MSK-IX, CEO of the company of the same name Evgeny Morozov said, speaking on Friday, September 30, at an international conference administrators and registrars of national top-level domains in the CIS countries, Central and Eastern Europe TLDCon (RBC correspondent watched its online broadcast).

CDN servers (Content Delivery Network) – a network of servers that large services with a large audience are placed as close as possible to end users, that is, in the networks of large Internet providers and at Internet traffic exchange points. MSK-IX (Moscow Internet Exchange) is the largest Russian traffic exchange point, 346 telecom operators, owners of social networks, search engines, video portals, cloud service providers, corporate and scientific and educational networks are connected to it, which is considered the highest indicator among Russian points traffic exchange follows from the information on the PITER-IX website (St. Petersburg traffic exchange point).

The fact that Microsoft was going to remove CDN servers from Russia was reported by several RBC sources in the telecommunications market at the end of spring, but representatives of the largest providers at that time refused to comment on the information.

As the CEO of MSK-IX explained, in connection with the February events, there is a “global change in those participants and those content resources and services that existed and actively worked on the territory of Russia”, which is reflected in a change in the volume of traffic within the country. Morozov noted that Microsoft and Netflix are “the most prominent representatives of the departed companies,” but there are others who have decided to remove their “nodes” from Russia. Which ones, he did not specify.

According to Morozov, the services of the departed companies remain available, but their traffic passes through global providers that provide services through international communication channels.

Another telecom market expert explained that after MSK-IX lost its servers in Russia, users should expect services to slow down and “perhaps a very slight increase in access errors.” However, the availability of services will remain in some format, he confirms.

VimpelCom’s (Beeline brand) operator business block said that Microsoft and Netflix were not ready to formalize network connections in accordance with Russian law, so their CDN servers were never connected to VimpelCom’s network in Russia. They added that CDN servers of other foreign services, “ready to work on a legal basis, have been connected and continue to function. ” But what exactly, the representative of the operator did not specify.

RBC sent a request to MSK-IX, MTS, MegaFon, as well as Microsoft and Netflix.

After the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, a number of foreign companies announced the termination of their activities in Russia, among them Netflix and Microsoft. Netflix also temporarily stopped work on Russian original projects – the series Anna K, Loop, Nothing Special and the crime thriller Zato. Earlier, the service refused to broadcast 20 Russian federal TV channels, the mandatory broadcasting of which was required by Russian laws from March 1. At the end of March, he removed his application from the App Store and Google Play in Russia, and in April he announced that he had lost 700,000 users due to the suspension of work in Russia.

Microsoft announced in early March that it would suspend sales of new products and services in Russia. The company also suspended “many lines” of business in the country due to sanctions, and in early summer confirmed its intention to reduce business, but assured that it would continue to fulfill existing obligations under contracts with local clients.
