Jackson Jesse Jr.: Biography, education, family

Member of the House of Representatives from Illinois

American politician, member of the US Democratic Party, son of the famous African American public and religious leader Jesse Jackson Sr. Since 1995, he has been a member of the US House of Representatives from the second congressional district of Illinois. From 1993 to 1995, he was National Field Director for Rainbow/PUSH, a human rights organization founded by his father.

Jesse Louis Jackson Jr. was born in Greenville, South Carolina on March 11, 1965 years old [27], [38]. He was one of six children of Jesse Jackson Sr., a well-known human rights activist, one of the most influential leaders of the African American social and religious movement, who twice, in 1984 and 1988, took part in the US presidential elections and from 1991 to 1997 served as shadow senator from the District of Columbia for a year [13]. The mother of Jackson Jr. was named Jacqueline Lavinia Brown (Jacqueline Lavinia Brown) [23], [35].

The press noted that Jackson Jr. was born just a few days after Bloody Sunday, when a peaceful demonstration led by Martin Luther King (Martin Luther King) and John Lewis (John Lewis), demanding equal voting rights for African Americans, was dispersed [ 27]. Jackson has been involved in politics since childhood, helping his father in the human rights organization PUSH (later the Rainbow/PUSH coalition), which he founded, the purpose of which was to help companies owned by African Americans, as well as to pressure those who refused to hire black people [ 9], [13]. Since Jackson Sr. was actively involved in politics, the children were raised mainly by their mother [26]. One of Jackson Jr.’s earliest memories was standing on a plastic box at the age of five, giving a speech at the headquarters of his father’s organization.

Jackson grew up as a smart and very active child. For such a character, the parents decided to send the boy along with his younger brother to study at the Le Mans Academy. There, Jackson was repeatedly subjected to disciplinary punishments, but according to his recollections, this did him good [39]. After the cadet military academy, Jackson studied at the prestigious St. Albans Preparatory School in Washington, D. C., whose alumni included Al Gore and John Kerry [26], [40]. Although, according to the recollections of the assistant principal of the school, Jackson knew history well and was an excellent speaker, he did better in physical education than in science subjects. In 1984, while receiving a high school diploma, Jackson, while shaking hands with the director, soiled his mentor with an egg hidden in his hand [39].

In 1987, Jackson received a bachelor’s degree in management with honors (magna cum laude) from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro [40], [39], [15], [38] , [27], which historically was included in the list of US institutions of higher education created for African Americans [16], [39].

Jackson continued his studies at the Chicago Theological Seminary, where at 19In 89 he received a master’s degree in theology, but did not want to become a priest [39], [15], [27], [38]. In 1993, he graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law with a J. D. [38], [27], [15] but abandoned his legal career to pursue politics [40].

Jackson spent his twentieth birthday in 1985 in prison with his father and brother after an anti-apartheid demonstration outside the South African embassy in Washington [36], [9], [15]. He later flew to South Africa to welcome the release from prison of future South African President and human rights activist Nelson Mandela [15]. In 1988, Jackson was elected secretary of the “black caucus” of the US Democratic National Committee [38], [34], [33].

In 1991, Jackson’s friend, Nigerian businessman Pius Ailemen, purchased an Alfa Romeo for $13,000 using forged documents using Jackson’s credit card, which was personally present at the time of purchase. At 19In 1993, Aylman was arrested for heroin trafficking, but Jackson was not affected by this scandal [40] [30].

After graduating from university in 1993, Jackson was named national field director for the Rainbow/PUSH coalition, [8], [38], [26]. In this position, he was involved in the registration of black voters, led educational programs that explain to national minorities the importance of participating in elections [15], [40]. In addition, he demanded to fight the inequality in American basketball, in which the majority of players were black, and almost all administrative positions were filled by whites [31].

In 1995, after Democrat black congressman Mel Reynolds was removed from his post as representative of the second congressional district of Illinois in connection with a sex scandal, Jackson decided to run for the vacant office. He defeated Alice Palmer, future Illinois Senate President Emil Jones Jr., and Monique Davis in the Democratic primary and narrowly beat Republican Thomas Somer in the election.[12] , [38], [39], [40], [9], [19], [26], [5]. Subsequently, Jackson was re-elected to the House of Representatives 6 times in a row [38], [21].

In the House of Representatives, Jackson sat on the Appropriations Committee, served as Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on State and Foreign Policy, was a member of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health, Welfare and Education, and the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food Control Administration Affairs. nutrition and drugs [15], [39]. The congressman worked on building new public schools, improving Chicago’s water supply, and improving the healthcare system [8], [39]. He also supported the idea of creating a large casino near Chicago, which would belong to the native Indians [39]. During this period, the press often drew attention to his excellent manners [28].

Jackson preferred to be called simply a civil servant rather than a progressive politician, noting that he continued the fight for equality led by his father [27]. However, experts said that Jackson represented not just blacks, but the new black middle class, and noted his liberal views [26]. Jackson kept himself, tried to be independent from the political environment of his father, whose reputation was significantly damaged by the birth of an illegitimate child, as well as rumors of his anti-Semitism and extortion of money from corporations [23], [32], [9]. Nevertheless, speaking about his son, Jackson Sr. quoted the Gospel “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” [22].

In 2001, thanks to Jackson’s efforts, the National Center for Minority Health and Disparities in Health Care was established at the US National Institutes of Health [15].

In the House of Representatives, Jackson often clashed with the authorities of his state, especially with the mayor of Chicago, Richard Daley (Richard Daley). Among the disagreements between them, the press noted the issue of the construction of a third Chicago airport, which was supported by Jackson and conservative Republicans, including Henry Hyde (Henry Hyde) [39], [8], [26]. In addition, Jackson accused Daley of corruption, in particular, of misappropriation of funds allocated to support women and national minorities [39]. There were rumors that Jackson wanted to succeed Daly as mayor of Chicago.

In the 2000 US presidential election, Jackson supported Democratic candidate Al Gore [24]. In the 2008 US presidential election, Jackson supported the African-American candidate, Illinois Senator Barack Obama. They were old friends: Jackson’s older sister Santita and Obama’s wife Michelle went to school together [20], [8], [12]. When Jackson’s father declared during the election race that Obama was “arrogant of blacks,” Jackson Jr. publicly called his father’s words “ugly rhetoric” [8], [9]. However, Jackson Jr. himself was never ranked among Obama’s inner circle [9].

In November 2008, Obama was elected President of the United States. By law, he could be replaced in the Senate by the candidate nominated by the governor of Illinois, who was then Rod Blagojevich. In early December of that year, Blagojevich, who had previously been suspected of corruption [37], was arrested by the FBI and charged with trying to sell Obama’s senatorial seat. A few days later, it became known that six people wanted to buy the post in the Senate from Blagojevich, and Jackson was allegedly the fifth in the list of applicants. According to press reports, Jackson offered the governor of Illinois a million dollars in donations in exchange for a seat in the US Senate. Jackson himself categorically denied these allegations [8], [9], [6], [7], [11], [10] and took part in the investigation of the case of Blagojevich as an informant [4].

In June 2012, Jackson temporarily stopped acting as a congressman due to health problems: according to media reports, the politician was undergoing treatment for bipolar affective disorder. In October of the same year, the media reported on the federal investigation of Jackson in connection with the alleged misappropriation of his campaign fund [3], [2]. Despite all these circumstances, in November 2012, Jackson was re-elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Illinois, gaining 63 percent of the vote in his district [1], [41].

Jackson has been a member of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission since 2003 [15]. Since 2000, he has served on the Chief Advisory Board of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Institute of Politics [15]. Jackson has been awarded honorary degrees from Chicago Theological Seminary, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, and Morehouse School of Medicine [15].

Jackson is the co-author of Legal Lynching (1996), It’s About the Money (2001), Legal Lynching II (2001), and A More Perfect Union: Advancing New American Rights (2001) with Frank E. Watkins [15].

Jackson is married, his wife’s name is Sandi Stevens, she is a member of the Chicago City Council [15], [39]. The two met while attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University and married at 19.91 [39]. It was on the advice of his wife that Jackson decided to run for the House of Representatives [39]. The Jacksons have two children: daughter Jessica Donatella (Jessica Donatella) and son Jesse III (Jesse III) [15], [18]. Another of their children died immediately after birth in 1998 [25].

Among Jackson’s hobbies, the press named fencing [26], martial arts (kung fu and taekwondo) [17], yoga [14] and fishing [29]. He likes to move around the city on a Segway (an electric scooter with wheels located to the left and right of the driver) [18], [14]. In addition to English, Jackson is fluent in Spanish [40].

For 20 years, Michael Jackson has been a music industry icon who has inspired and entertained the world. The “King of Pop” has left an indelible mark on the music and fashion industry.

Michael was born on 29August 1958. He was the eighth child and spent his early years in a 3-room house in Gary, Indiana. The Jackson couple never led a normal life, and soon the Jackson brothers became an international hit, performing in clubs in the early 70s, and already in 1975, on the world stage, they performed hits such as “ABC” and “I’ ll Be There. Flared pants, bright prints and suits have become symbols of rising stars. Soon, Michael became the leader of the group, which eventually led him to a solo career, thanks to Quincy Jones, with whom he worked on the soundtrack to “The Wiz”, where the main role belonged to Michael.

In 1980, Jackson released his first album, Off The Wall, and was followed by instant success with hits such as “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” and “Rock With You”. Michael became the first black artist to appear on MTV, which was the beginning of a new musical sensation and brought Michael new listeners. No one, however, expected the overwhelming success of his Thriller album in 1982.

The Thriller album took Michael to new heights. It was the first solo artist whose album became a hit at 1983 and was the best-selling album that is still sold today, and was also named the best album of all time. The song of the same name “Thriller” became a cult hit, and the video clip became the most successful video of all time. Michael became the most famous artist not only for his songs, but also for his breathtaking videos, some of which were eight minutes long.

The King of Pop grew up with albums such as Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, Blood on the Dance Floor: ‘HIStory in the Mix and ‘Invincible’. Each album has been a huge success, which proves the star’s endless and growing success.

As for his style, it could be considered part of his art. The costumes were made to dazzle, shine and attract attention during stage shows, which became the ‘new style’ for the youth, which meant rebellion. Fitted pants, leather, white socks and the right approach; Michael’s style has made him a leader in music and fashion. Historic elements of Michael’s costumes include the red zip-up leather jacket from “Beat It” and the war style from “Bad” directed by Martin Scorsese.

His costume designer Michael Bush created some of the outfits that Michael Jackson wore during several years of his career. It was his precious Swarovski glove that he wore as an accessory to his costumes, often raising his hand and lowering his head while the spotlight was shining. On his Dangerous tour, Michael wore a gold bodysuit that made him look like a royal jester.

With his most successful and famous “Bad” tour, Michael performed 123 concerts for 4.4 million fans. Michael performed in rebellious clothing with many details, especially his famous yellow suit, which had problems with accessories, however, as with all his costumes, since they were so skillfully made that they could be displayed in a museum.

His appearance in the late 80’s and early 90’s cemented his title as the “King of Pop”. He was never shy about colorful or dark and strict outfits that personified his favorite cartoon character Tinker Bell.

Outside of the show, he wore the same clothes, but more relaxed, not as tight as on his Motown 25 show in 1983 (in his favorite glove, suit, whose pants were just above the ankle, with white socks pulled over) . In this ‘garment’, he performed his famous moonwalk, after which, the entire younger generation rushed to the dance studios. Another popular outfit Michael wore to the 63rd Academy Awards at 1991, where he was wearing a white jacket with a brooch in the center (between the collar and on his arm).

Michael Jackson, however, was not without problems. His increasingly erratic behavior over the years of his life led to the nickname “Wacko Jacko”, which Jackson despised. He was the source of constant rumors related to changes in his appearance for several years.
