Dear Pre-School Parents,

Welcome to the Goodrich Children’s Center 3-year-old preschool all day program. We are excited to provide an environment that will help promote your child’s ability to socialize with other children, discover new things through hands-on exploration, challenge them with new learning experiences, encourage independence, and prepare them future learning. We want your child to have a fun, safe and positive experience. Please keep in mind that we will be playing, building, creating art work, using playdough among many other activities that may end up on your child’s clothes, so please do not send them dressed in their finest clothing.

Please remember to sign your child in and out daily. During the first few weeks of preschool you may be asked to show identification when picking up your child from school until we are familiar with everyone. If someone other than the regular pick up person is picking up your child, they must be listed on your child’s information card and show a picture I.D. Please notify the staff in writing when someone different will pick up your child. We also would greatly appreciate a call if your child will be out on their scheduled day.

A calendar will be sent home monthly which will include each child’s snack day and other important events. If your child is not listed during that month for snack, they will be the following month.

Your child may participate in Reid’s lunch program or may bring a lunch from home. A lunch menu will be provided monthly. We are unable to refrigerate or heat your child’s lunch from home so please plan accordingly.

There is a daily rest period. We ask that you send in a small blanket and crib sheet for your child’s cot. A small pillow and/or stuffed animal are optional. Also, please send in extra clothing in case of accidents. Label all items with your child’s name.

3 summer schools to relax and improve English

For those who want to make a real adventure out of the holidays, and at the same time improve English – 3 summer schools in Switzerland, Malta and the UK. Does your child dream of going on a mountain hike, swimming in the sea, learning to draw or playing golf? Choose one of the schools and give your child a summer that he will not forget!

Swiss Language Club (SLC) – adventures in the mountains of Switzerland

At the SLC school in the cozy resort of Leysin in the mountains of Switzerland, the child will be charged with emotions and fresh air for the whole year. On the program: panda parks, mountain biking, hiking, water parks and getting to know Swiss culture. In addition, 3 languages to choose from: English, French or German – taught by native speakers.

In the morning the children learn the language in their groups of 12 people. Lessons last the usual 45 minutes and are aimed at overcoming the language barrier and mastering new topics in a foreign language. Schoolchildren have 15 hours of language classes per week. At the end of the training, each student receives a certificate with an assessment of the level achieved in the language.

The highlights of the program are entertainment and classes at the academies. In the standard course: football, volleyball, tennis, swimming in the pool, shopping and trips to the water park. In addition, children go hiking and make mountain hikes of medium difficulty. They also go on excursions to Montreux, Vevey, Lausanne and Bern.

For an additional fee, you can send your child to the Academy:

  • For the most sporty: rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, mountain hiking of high difficulty.
  • For the curious: tours of Swiss cities, including an excursion to Chillon Castle and boat trips on Lake Geneva.
  • For culinary specialists and sweet tooth: Swiss cuisine master classes and an excursion to the Nestle Museum.
  • For Young Leaders: leadership and communication lessons and a tour of the UN compound in Geneva.
  • For the most active: panda park, bungee, bowling, laser tag and other games.

Children are comfortably accommodated in a former hotel building right at the foot of the mountain. Luxurious mountain views open from the windows, and the local air is considered curative. At the beginning of the 20th century, members of royal families from all over Europe came here to improve their health.

Schoolchildren, with the permission of teachers and parents, can walk around Leysin completely freely. So the guys learn independence and quickly begin to navigate the terrain. The village is quiet, safe, and the locals warmly welcome young guests. All wallets and phones forgotten in stores will certainly be returned to school safe and sound.

MORE ABOUT THE SCHOOLSEND YOUR INQUIRY

  • At the EC Summer School, teenagers can enjoy the warm Maltese sun and sea, learn about the island’s chivalric heritage and experience the vibrant life of a youth resort. And, of course, practice English.

English lessons at the school are in the morning and take 15 hours a week. The guys learn new words, discuss different topics and get rid of the language barrier that prevents them from communicating with new friends. After the lessons, the acquired vocabulary can be immediately applied on excursions or while playing beach volleyball.

After classes, the guys go to the beach: sunbathe, swim, organize football and volleyball competitions. Sometimes the games are transferred to the pool or to the water park.

And having recharged with gentle Maltese sun, schoolchildren go on excursions. The children will visit Mdina, an open-air museum city, where the cathedral was painted by Albrecht Dürer himself. They will see Valletta, the capital of the island and the largest port in the Mediterranean. They will also make a sightseeing tour of Malta and even a small sea cruise around the island.

In the evening, the guys will go to the cinema, pizza and barbecue dinners, as well as parties on the beach and socializing with program participants from all over the world. Two evenings a week are free for shopping, exploring the city or optional excursions.

    Duration from 2 weeks
    Dates: July 1 – August 27, 2017
