Better’s tips for staying safe while swimming
You might be wondering ‘why is it important to follow safety rules in swimming classes and lessons’, but they’re there to protect all of us when using the Better pool facilities.
Before taking the plunge, it’s important you have the swimming basics under your belt. Here’s how you can help everyone swim in a safe and welcoming environment.
What to do:
- Wait to swim after you eat. Please avoid swimming within two hours of eating.
- Watch from a distance. Spectators can watch swimming lessons from the designated gallery/viewing area, not from the poolside.
- Please remember to shower before and after your swimming lesson.
- Please remeber to use the toilet facilities before your swimming lesson.
- Be mindful of your own swimming ability and those around you and listen to instructions. Please listen to our qualified lifeguards and follow their guidance to keep everyone safe. If you’re in a swim lesson, make sure you pay attention to your teacher so you don’t miss anything important.
- Swim when you’re feeling healthy. If you’re not sure you’re fit enough to swim, please consult your doctor. It’s very important to talk to your doctor before swimming if you have any health problems, and inform staff of any special requirements you may have. Swimming when you don’t feel healthy, including tummy troubles, can make problems worse.

“). All class teachers and representatives from classes (2-4 creative people each) were invited to the seminar. The Academy was conducted by the guys who returned from the profile instructor shift: Geletin Vladislav (11V), Shmatov Denis (9A) and Shonin Dmitry (10B), as well as A.S. Kananykhin.
How to organize an event in the life of a team and an individual? How to make sure that no one remains indifferent? How to make New Year’s Eve for everyone? How to fill the festive event with meaning, and not make it an event for show?
64 people were looking for answers to these questions: class teachers and their students. It is difficult to create a full-fledged script in 1.5 hours, but the ideas that were voiced by the working groups turned out to be very interesting. Most likely, it will not be possible to realize all the ideas, but even if some of them turn into New Year’s events, it will be great.
Participants of the seminar rated its usefulness at 8.27 points on a 10-point scale. And we know for sure that the aftereffect of this seminar will be positive. After all, such brainstorming, joint reflection, inclusion in the creative process is an event in itself!

Oleg Koshevoy
On September 5-6, 2015, the first event in the 2015-2016 academic year was held as part of the innovative platform of the Educational Project “School for Children for Children” (SHDD). Fifth graders, who had just joined the ranks of middle school students, took part in a field meeting organized by a team of instructors, students in grades 7-11. The collection took place on the basis of DOL them. Oleg Koshevoy. During the day, the instructors helped the fifth-graders to create new micro-teams, “mixing” students from different classes. This has become a certain crisis for many children, since they are not used to communicating with their peers in parallel in a collaborative mode. It is difficult to find a common language with the guys from the parallel class, if in previous years the spirit of rivalry and competition between classes prevailed. This situation turned out to be difficult for the parents who were present at the camp. But the teachers, instructors and class teachers managed to create such an atmosphere of creativity, support and mutual respect that after the end of the camp, no one doubted that the children of the 5th grade parallel managed to make friends with each other!
The collection program included a variety of activities and events. The game “Don’t say a word” taught fifth-graders to better understand each other, carefully and sensitively analyze the behavior of another person. Evening lights helped to open up and gain the skill of reflection (after all, it was necessary not only to analyze the past day from the position of “liked or disliked”, but also to try to see the changes that had occurred in oneself and in new friends). Self-organization services have shown how you can create space and hold various events. The evening program helped many children discover their talents and overcome their fear of public speaking.
There is an amazing tradition in the “SHDD” project: all participants of the gathering choose guys worthy to bear the title of Pearls and Dolphins. Pearls are bright personalities who have shown their talents. The following fifth graders became such at this gathering: Tovkan Polina, Osina Zoya, Mokhovikova Vika, Vasilyeva Masha. But Dolphins are called those who, perhaps, did not shine on the stage, but quietly and imperceptibly helped others, whose support was felt by the rest of the guys, who were ready to give away the warmth of their souls for free. This time the highest award of our project was given to Alena Kovalenko, Nikita Sabotovich, Polina Matveeva and Artyom Maksimenko.
The end of the profile collection of the project “School for Children for Children” is always project work by class. The guys again united with the class teachers and all together looked for answers to the questions:
- What should be the class in which you want to study?
- What deeds, events could help this?
- Which of these activities do you organize in class? Name specific dates and responsible guys.
This is how the fifth graders got the skills of self-organization of life in their teams and planned the work for the 1st quarter.
I must say that after this meeting in the 5th grade, a lot really began to change. With the support of wonderful class teachers, the guys can already do a lot on their own, and most importantly, build good relations with classmates and other students of the gymnasium.
Some reviews and reflections
about the Exit fee of 5 classes on September 5-6, 2015 Oleg Koshevoy
Rodina Natalya Andreevna, class teacher of class 5A
For me, this trip was a little exciting: I had to get to know all 5 classes closely. The idea of the trip itself is very good, because the children, once they get into this environment, face new difficulties that they will have to overcome on their own. They learn self-organization – to organize themselves and themselves. True, some things were probably too complicated for their perception.
I thought that it would be difficult to surprise a person who has been actively engaged in counseling for 5 years and worked as a counselor at different ages, who is a methodologist and program manager… But on this trip, even I discovered something new … First. what came to mind were the songs, those that were performed in the evening … not everyone knew them. And then what can we say about the fifth-graders, they also wrapped a lot of new and interesting things on their mustaches, but so far they have no idea about it.
Also great fellows senior guys – instructors. This was also a stage of development for them, the children threw surprises at them and they tried to cope with them. It’s nice to look at them, they do everything to ensure that the younger generation aspires to heights. Maybe they lacked strength in some moments, but it’s not scary. Thank you teachers for taking on this responsibility. I like it. There is something to work on)
Nastya Lapina , 9th grade student, instructor of the regional team of the Regional Movement “New Wave. Children’s School for Children” On September 5-6, we held an exit camp for the fifth grade parallel, I want to do a little reflection. 2. Work in groups. 3. Introspection. At this gathering, I missed some people, after the planning meeting I even cried, because it was difficult for me. And this is my point of growth: to learn how to work calmly without certain people. They may not always be around. Well, with that I would like to end my analysis. Thank you very much to all the guys, instructors, Anna Sergeevna and Svetlana Grigorievna, and also to the wonderful class teachers of the fifth grade! |
Ira Nechaeva, 2015 graduate, 1st year student of NSU. Instructor.
I just got home We had a collection-lighter in the DOL im. Oleg Koshevoy with a parallel of the 5th grade of the gymnasium number three. I would say that our collection was specifically divided into the first and second days. And what happened in the second time, I don’t know how much it differs from the first! |
This is not the first year our gymnasium has been participating in the regional project “School for Children for Children”. The project is based on the introduction of self-organization technology into the children’s community, with the inclusion of teacher and parent communities. Initiator and author of the project: Chesheva Marina Nikolaevna, methodologist of the MIMC of the Cherepanovsky district.
It all started in 2011 with three schools in the Cherepanovsky district and our gymnasium. Now the project includes 10 Cherepanov schools, 6 districts of the region, schools in the city of Berdsk, gymnasium No. 3. 7 profile shifts were held, including 2 regional ones. The project is supported by the Minister of Education of the NSO V. A. Nikonov.
During this time, we managed to do a lot at our gymnasium: game technicians, Friendship Day, participation in the Immortal Regiment project, waste paper collection and the work of the press center as part of Immersion in the era, our traditional STARTIN. Services worked in the classrooms, on the summer playground the guys introduced elements of self-organization technology. New Year’s Eve has become a wonderful new tradition. Together with the children, we held several seminars for teachers of the city and the region, including a seminar within the framework of the internship platform of the RUSNANO School League

1. Trinta
Sports | basketball |
Benefits | one of the leading basketball schools; easy to do; serious attitude to general education and high scores of the GIA and USE |
Requirements: compliance with age and height indicators. Boys are accepted from 9 to 12 years old, girls from 9 to 13 years old. The minimum height for the youngest incoming boys is 146-153 cm, for girls – 150-156 cm. The oldest boys must be at least 171-178 cm, girls – 176-183 cm. All indicators are given on the school website.
In the early stages of its existence, the school did not have a pronounced basketball focus – there were departments of football, volleyball, athletics, field hockey, rhythmic gymnastics, wrestling, cross-country skiing and biathlon. Later, some of these departments ceased to exist, and some formed separate sports schools. Sports commentator Roman Skvortsov, President of the Russian Facesketball Federation Sergey Chernov, as well as many Russian sports stars graduated from Trinta. In 2012, 36 pupils and 3 coaches of the school were included in the list of candidates for various national teams of Russia.
Alina Semenova
school student
How to apply: I found myself unexpectedly in Trinta. In the 4th grade, I was the tallest among my classmates. Once, during recess, two women came up to me and asked if I liked basketball and would like to play it. I was not at all interested in it, but at that moment I became very curious and wanted to try myself in this sport. The women were coaches from Trinta who travel to schools in search of future students. That same evening I got a call from the school, and the next day I was already on my way to my first training session.
Every child can enter Trinta. Coaches come to schools, watch children and offer to play basketball. In addition, screenings are also held in Trint itself. The main thing here is compliance with physical requirements – in terms of growth, speed, agility and endurance.
The ability to work in a team, the desire to learn how to play beautifully and great patience are also very important.
In our team, there were cases when players received serious injuries, it even came to operations, after which they had to recover, not train for a long time, and then start everything almost from scratch.
Study VS training: You can study according to the general education program both at Trint and at your own school. The guys who study in ordinary schools have classes in the first half of the day, and training in the second. There are more trainings in sports classes – they take place before and after classes in general education subjects. Teams often leave for training camps or games in other cities and miss school. However, after that they have to make up for everything, because the coaches strictly monitor their school performance. I know that the guys who studied at Trint later became students of Moscow State University, RANEPA, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Russian University of Economics. Plekhanov and, of course, RSUPC.
Sports | basketball, figure skating, swimming, dancesport, modern pentathlon |
Benefits | one of the largest sports and training bases in the country; athletes studying here are part of the Sochi 2014 experimental team and successfully participate in competitions as part of Moscow and Russian national teams |
Requirements: it is necessary to pass the standards for admission targets
The school, named after the great basketball coach Alexander Gomelsky, was created relatively recently – in 2006. It was one of the few in Moscow and the only school in the North-Eastern District of the capital with a basketball department for girls. At the first stages, in addition to basketball, there were swimming and gymnastics departments. Two years later, on the initiative of the then mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov, and the president of the Moscow Figure Skating Federation, Irina Raber, figure skating began to gain momentum here. Last year, a department of modern pentathlon was opened. Today, the educational and sports complex includes one general education school and five specialized sports schools, as well as departments of sports improvement and higher sportsmanship – in figure skating and basketball. In addition, there is a sports and recreation complex with a swimming pool and an ice palace.
Natalia Mukhina
school student
How to apply: I go in for figure skating at MSSUOR, where I study. I came to watch, they took me first to the skating rink, and then to school. The requirements for all athletes are strict here, I think it’s the same everywhere. After graduating from MSSUOR, I plan to enter a university and continue my sports career.
Study VS training: There is no reason to complain about teaching general education subjects, the teachers are good, they also teach very well. Just like in other sports schools with a unified educational and sports program, trainings are set at such a time that we have time to study and train. Education in ordinary schools, combined with training at MSSUOR, is also practiced here, in the morning schoolchildren go to their schools, and in the evening to train with us.
Sports | sambo, boxing, sumo, karate, judo, gymnastics, sports dancing |
Benefits | one of the largest educational and sports complexes in Europe; almost all popular types of martial arts; the opportunity to enter with a minimum level of training, subject to availability; a chance in the future to get a job in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB |
Requirements: Desire to engage in and absence of medical contraindications for playing sports, there are no standards or requirements for physical parameters
The martial arts school was opened by the first world sambo champion David Rudman in 1970. Trainings are held here in seven sports, including not only martial arts, but also gymnastics. Sambo-70 has one sports school, two general education schools, as well as a suburban sports complex, which began operating in March of this year in the south-west of the capital.
The famous judo fan Vladimir Putin attended the opening, accompanied by actor Steven Seagal, seventh dan in aikido.
Among the coaches of “Sambo-70” sports stars are the champions of Russia and the world in karate, sambo, judo, kyokushinkai, kumite and sumo. In the event that school graduates eventually decide to end their sports career, Sambo-70 provides them with the opportunity to go to work in the special units of the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs – for many years the school has been cooperating with sports units of the country’s key law enforcement agencies.
Vladislav Dubovik
school student
How to enter: My first attempt to get into Sambo-70 in early childhood failed because of the large number of people who wanted to study there. I entered there only when I was a fifth grader, and before that I went to a regular school and at the same time to training. My coach was sambo and judo champion Elena Guseva, she taught and still teaches at Sambo-70.
Study VS training: Students of ordinary schools who attend Sambo 70 for training sometimes skip classes and go to the gym, where they diligently prepare for competitions. Those guys who study here have their own schedule, where it is distributed, when are the lessons, and when are the trainings. According to the general education program, Sambo trains no worse than other schools, there are good teachers here, I had no difficulties mastering the program.
Sports | football |
Benefits | preliminary preparation for applicants; high-quality sports equipment; the opportunity to play in a famous football club and get into the |
Requirements: must pass a special screening held at the school every three months for children aged 9 to 12. Certificates from a doctor about admission to football, as well as a sports uniform are required. For young athletes from 13 to 19years, viewings are organized by invitation – to do this, you need to download a questionnaire on the official website of the school, fill it out and send it to the selection service.
One of the best football schools in the country is engaged in targeted physical and sports training of players for the main team of the Moscow football club Lokomotiv, as well as for the Russian national teams, both youth and adults.
The school’s star graduates include Spartak midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Dynamo forward Alexander Kokorin, and Lokomotiv Moscow defender Taras Burlak.
The educational institution is located on the territory of the Lokomotiv stadium and has indoor arenas, playing fields with natural and artificial turf, as well as a multifunctional sports complex. There is also a secondary school on the territory of the stadium. For non-resident students, and there are about 40 of them in the school, there is a special boarding school.
Ivan Krinochkin
school student
How to enter: The desire to get into the Lokomotiv football school appeared when I was in the 4th grade. But they took me there only from the 5th grade, so I had to wait another year and then go there. Only Lokomotiv football players study at our school, if you are accepted into the team, then they will be accepted to the school without any problems. I would not say that there are any special requirements for the guys in terms of physical indicators – prove on the field that you are able to play, and everything will be fine. While I’m training here. In the future, of course, I would like to get into the youth squad, and from there to the main team. I will try very hard to achieve this.
Study vs. training: In Lokomotiv, school education is combined with training. The schedule is designed so that we can do everything. Honestly, it is no different from general educational institutions. Yes, there are concessions for us, but small ones. We take exams just like everyone else. There are guys who study in ordinary schools and periodically ask for time off to get to training with us.
Sports | football |
Benefits | attempts to prepare young people for the career vicissitudes of a professional football player; strong female soccer |
Requirements: for children 6-12 years old – no medical contraindications for playing sports, for children 14 years old – the need to pass a screening at school. Coaches pay attention to the technique of working with the ball and the speed of decision-making.
Along with Lokomotiv, Chertanovo has been preparing young blood for Russian professional football for more than 30 years. The center includes a children’s and youth sports school of the Olympic reserve for boys and girls, a general education school with a boarding school and a health center. There is also an amateur club and a women’s football team, which plays in the first division of the national championship among women’s clubs. Chertanovo tries to prepare students who want to play football seriously for the career ups and downs that await them – communication with agents, concluding contracts, and also recommends football team breeders.

How to apply: I got into the Chertanovo football school quite by accident. My future coach at that time, Tatyana Bikeikina, recruited girls to join her team, and reached our school, where we met. Since then, I can’t live a day without football, for which I am very grateful to her. Previously, to get into the school, you just had to play for the team.
Over time, our school has managed to establish itself and getting there is not so easy now.
In Chertanovo, boys and girls from other cities come to watch, they are provided with housing at a sports base, they are provided with a place in a general education class. They try to transfer Muscovites to our comprehensive school, but there are exceptions.
Study VS training: After classes, training sessions are held almost every day, games are usually done in their free time, so combining sports and education is quite simple and convenient. For “Chertanovo” I played 9years old, and graduated from school with a good student, teachers and coaching staff provided me with all the necessary knowledge. I also still play football, only for a different team, I’m a 3rd year student at RSUPEKSMiT, I plan to get a sports higher education and also raise little champions.

How to apply: My teammates and I decided to enter Sparta on the recommendation of girls who had already studied there. They praised the school very much. The five of us went to try our luck. In the end, everyone did. Sparta is an ideal school for those who are ready to train hard and hard.
