It’ll Cost You

Preparation: You’ll need a quarter, a piece of tinfoil just bigger than the quarter, and a small square of paper (big enough to fully cover the coin). Place the tinfoil over one side of the quarter and around the rim, and gently rub it to set the coin’s impression on the foil. Remove the quarter and cut off any excess foil.

Trick: Place the foil quarter in the palm of your hand and show the audience; tell them you’re going to make it disappear. Place the piece of paper over the quarter, wave your magic wand, say the magic words and remove the paper. When the audience sees that it’s still there, say you’ll try again. When it doesn’t work for the third time, apologize to the audience and crumple the paper and the foil into a tiny ball. Make sure the paper covers the foil so it looks like the quarter has been crushed.

Magic Touch

Prep: Fill an aluminum pie plate with just enough water to cover the bottom. Arrange some toothpicks in a square in the middle of the pie plate, making sure their tips overlap so they stay together. Dip another toothpick in dish detergent.

Trick: Have your audience gather around the pie plate, which you can either set on a table or the ground. Tell them that you will fill a toothpick with your power, and then use it to make the square of toothpicks separate. Take out your toothpick dipped in dish detergent, say your magic words, and place the soap-dipped end into the middle of the square. The soap will cause the toothpicks to fly apart in the water.

Quick Switch

Prep: Sit at a table in front of your audience with a piece of paper and rip off two little pieces, each a bit bigger than your fingernails. Tape a paper piece to one fingernail on each hand and tell your audience you’re going to make the paper disappear and reappear.

Trick: Place your two fingers with the paper on them on the table. One at a time, put your hand behind your back, quickly switching fingers and placing a finger with no paper on it back on the table. Repeat with the other hand. Tell your audience you will now bring the paper back. Repeat the first step, this time replacing the fingers without paper with the fingers with paper. Use your index and middle fingers since they look the most alike

Brain Power

Prep: Before you perform the trick, choose a friend to assist you and explain to them how it works. Tell your assistant to always inquire about the audience-chosen object after an item that’s the colour black. Your assistant will appear to be “testing” your powers in front of the audience.

Trick: Tell your audience that you have psychic powers. Ask your friend to assist you, then instruct the audience that they must choose an object when you leave the room. When they call you back in, ask the audience to concentrate on the item and then ask your assistant to start testing your powers. Have your assistant go through different objects in the room asking: “Is it the yellow chair? Is it the green rug?” etc. Astound everyone when you correctly identify the object!

All Fall Down

Prep: Get a dishtowel, a plastic cup and a small, flat eraser. Sit at a table and have your audience stand on the opposite side.

Trick: Put the eraser on the table and cover it with the cup; then place the dishtowel on top. Lift both the cup and dishtowel up, revealing the eraser, and ask your audience to concentrate on it. While they’re focused on the eraser, discreetly drop the cup into your lap, but continue holding the towel as if the cup were still there. Then put the towel back over the eraser and smash your hand down on it; at the same time, drop the cup from your lap to the floor. Lift the towel to show that the eraser is still there, but that the cup has fallen “through” the table.

15 tricks for a children’s party

We will tell you what tricks you can do at home and their secrets.

Rope cutting manipulation

It is done simply. A rope is taken, preferably thin, folded in half. The assistant is offered to cut it with scissors. At the ends you need to tie a knot. Wrap the rope around your hand. The assistant is asked to pull it – the rope turns out to be whole again.

It is done as follows. Fasten one end between the middle and forefinger of the left hand, the other must be carefully laid between the thumb and forefinger. Take the middle and bring the rope to your left hand. Pull out the part located between the index finger and thumb. Raise slightly. The assistant cuts it. Throw down the two ends, they should be from a whole rope, tie the remaining piece in a knot, which will be shown to the audience. In the process of winding, it is necessary to discreetly remove and hide the knot. The assistant pulls out the whole rope.

For execution, you will need scissors and a rope.

Endless thread

Another simple children’s trick that you can do at home. A small thread is found on the leader’s jacket. He tries to take her away, but she doesn’t budge. Starts to pull. The thread stretches endlessly.

How to do it: wind the thread around a short pencil or stick, put it in your pocket. Pull the end of the thread out with a needle.

Water balloon

The magician takes the ball. He inserts it into a paper rolled up into a bag. Pierces the ball, water drains from it. The burst balloon is removed, and the magician shows that the paper remains clean.

To do the trick, you need to inflate two balloons. Pour liquid into the one inside, it will not be visible to the audience.

You will need: a sheet of paper, water, two balls, a needle

Magic hat

A classic trick for a children’s holiday, when a bouquet of flowers, coins, a rabbit is taken out of a hat. To implement it, you need to make a double bottom in the props, cutting and pasting a circle inside.

Broken and whole pencil

The audience is shown a whole pencil. Then he wraps himself in a napkin. It is proposed to one of the spectators to break the props. A crack is heard. The magician unfolds the napkin, and a whole pencil falls on the floor.

Secret: You will need two pencils. One of them is sewn into the edge of the napkin. The second will be shown to the audience at the end. The one that was sewn inside breaks, but the right one remains intact.

Magic Knot

To perform this trick, you will need a rope. Its ends are tied together to form a ring. The rope is folded in half. The host asks the assistant to cut it. As a result, everyone sees four ends. Two of them are connected by the viewer, two by the magician. Then he lets go of the rope, and the knot remains alone.

Picking up coins from thin air

Take a hat, show that it is empty. Get a chocolate coin out of thin air. Put in a hat. Find a coin in another place, put it there.

What’s the secret? You need to keep the coin in your hand, hiding it, and put the rest in the hat.

Rabbit being taken out of a hat

The animal must be hidden in advance, for which a double bottom is made in the props. Cover the hat with a scarf, read the spell, remove the scarf and get the rabbit.

A handkerchief worth

Take a handkerchief, show the audience that there is nothing under it. Tie one corner. Put the handkerchief on your hand. Show what it’s worth. Pull out the stick with your right hand. Tie in a knot again and place. The scarf is up again. Roll it up and remove it.

Secret: the props are hidden in the sleeve, removed from the scarf with a thread. It also has a steel band sewn into it.

Sudden appearance of a stick

The magician makes a wave with his right hand, after which the wand appears. The movements are quick and easy.

You will need a small stick, 300 mm, a case to hide it, made of a metal tube. The diameter of the stick is a couple of millimeters smaller: it should freely enter the case, but not jump out. A spring is placed inside the case. Make an emphasis by soldering the spring. Outside, attach a small hook, with which the case is attached to the belt. Poke a hole in the top of the case for a wand stopper. Fasten the case inside the sleeve. During the swing, release the stopper, and the wand will be outside.

climb through a small leaf

Invite the audience to make an incision in the sheet 21 by 30 cm so that a person can crawl into it. It will not work. The magician folds the sheet in half, makes an incision so that it does not reach the end, then incise the sheet from several more sides. The paper is stretched, and a ring is obtained through which a person can crawl.

Colorful water

To do this, you will need hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. It is necessary to add them to sparkling water, stir, and the container will begin to glow.

Focus with bracelet

The assistant ties the rope around the animator’s hands, leaving a small piece between the wrists. The bracelet is given in hand, covered with a scarf. When the bracelet is pulled off, it remains on the rope.

Feature of the trick: you will need two identical bracelets, one is put on the arm in advance and hides under the long sleeve. The second bracelet should be quietly moved to the rope, and the first one should be hidden under the sleeve.

Magnetized ball

The host takes the ball, sprinkles confetti on top, which are attracted to the surface. The secret is simple: an inflated ball must be electrified using a piece of wool for this.

Jumping coin

The magician puts a coin on the neck of the bottle, and the coin starts to jump.

How to do. Prepare props ahead of time. You will need a bottle with a narrow neck filled with water. Put the bottle in the freezer for an hour. Moisten a coin with water, put on the neck. Gases expand when heated, which contributes to the movement of the coin.

Magic tricks for children for the holiday

Children love magic tricks and there is no better performance than a magician. Tricks for children for the holiday guarantee you the attention of small viewers, laughter and joy.

But what to do if you can’t afford a magician or you don’t want to invite someone else’s and maybe a terrible uncle for children? I suggest you learn a few simple tricks that require a minimum of props. You can even prepare such a presentation with the children at school. So, read on and do tricks!

Button trick

Magic Props:

  • Thick soft plastic strip with two slotted holes and a hole (you can use a part from a soft construction set for children),
  • cord, scarf,
  • two large buttons.

Focus execution

The magician shows the audience a pre-prepared strip 20 cm long. In the strip, there are two longitudinal slots and a hole 1 cm in diameter. Also, the magician has a 20 cm long cord with large buttons attached to the ends. Buttons need to take large and bright.

The magician convinces the audience that such large buttons will not go through a small hole in his plastic blank. And the magician claims that with the help of magic he will be able to push such big buttons into such a small hole, because he is a magician. Now the magician has to transform. Take the cord with buttons in one hand and the strip in the other, cover your hands with a handkerchief and remove it almost immediately. Say the magic word at the moment of pulling off the handkerchief and show the children that the button still went through the hole. props connected! Do not be greedy, let the guys hold your magic button strip in their hands. Ask to separate both parts. Hardly anyone can do it.

Now you will reverse the trick and convince the children that you really are a magician. Put the handkerchief over your hands again and quickly separate the two parts.

Secret of the trick: To connect the two parts, just bend the strip, fold its middle tab in half and insert it into the hole as shown in the photo. Having passed a button into the resulting hole of the tongue, pull the tongue out of the hole and straighten the strip. The success of the focus is in speed. Therefore, before showing the focus, practice well and get the hang of connecting and disconnecting everything in an instant.

Magic Tangle Focus

Magic Props:

  • Ribbon pre-made box,
  • a ring, if none of the children have one,
  • handkerchief.

Focus execution

You will need an assistant for this trick. The assistant should be placed behind the curtains if the tricks are shown in the hall of the kindergarten or school, or behind the curtain if the performance takes place at home. Well, if the children who will watch tricks will have a ring. If there is none, you will also have to prepare a ring.

Take the ring from the girl and offer to mark it with a thread or ribbon. Put the ring in your left palm, go to the screen and take the box from the assistant standing behind it. The box must be closed and tied with a ribbon. Show the guys the box, and then, holding it in your right hand, make a movement with your left, as if sending a ring into the box. Open your hand and show the children that the ring is gone. Say that the ring is in the casket. The audience, of course, does not believe you.

Ask the owner of the ring to remove the ribbon from the box and open the box. The girl must untie the ribbon and open the box in front of the audience, otherwise she will be accused of colluding with a magician. The box contains only a ball of bright threads. Invite the girl to unwind the ball. When all the threads are wound, the spectator finds her ring safe and sound inside the ball. How did the ring get into the ball?

The secret of the trick is in an assistant and a metal or cardboard tube 25 mm in diameter and 200 mm long. Before demonstrating the trick, you need to prepare everything – you need to wind the threads around the end of the tube so that you get a ball. The end of the tube should peek out of the threads. The ball should be placed in the box so that the end of the tube slightly peeks out of the box. Tie the ribbon on the box wide and loose so that you can easily move it and close the box.

Give the box prepared in this way to the assistant behind the curtain. He will hold the box at the ready, but this should not be seen by the audience. When you get the ring in your hands and go to the screen, shift it imperceptibly into your right hand, and clench your left into a fist. Approaching the screen, turn to face the audience and, extending your right hand behind the screen, ask the assistant to pass the box. At this time, lower the ring into the tube so that it slides into the ball. The assistant at the same time quickly pulls out the tube, tightens the tape on the lid and hands you the box. Further actions and a spectacular end to the focus are already known.

Egg trick

Magic Props:

  • Thin scarf 200x200mm,
  • egg prepared for focus.

Get on stage and tell the children that you can turn objects into other things. Just like Karabas from the fairy tale “Puss in Boots”. Say that you will now turn the handkerchief into an egg. In confirmation of this, take a thin handkerchief out of your pocket. Holding it with both hands, show the audience, and then with the thumb and forefinger of your right hand, push the handkerchief between your palms. Spread your fingers and show that the handkerchief has disappeared, and instead a chicken egg has appeared.

The secret of the trick is in the egg. Prepare the egg ahead of time. You can do two options. First, make a hole the size of a small coin in a raw egg. Pour out the contents of the egg, and place the shell for a day in a solution of table salt – to give it hardness. After drying the shell, put it together with a handkerchief in your pocket. The second option is to take some toy that looks like an egg. It can be a kinder surprise egg or a pre-prepared papier-mâché egg.

Showing the trick, take the egg out of your pocket with your right hand so that the shell is sandwiched in the palm of your hand, and the handkerchief is between your fingers (forefinger and thumb). Put your palms together so that the egg is not visible, and push the handkerchief into the shell. Once this is done, close the hole with your thumb and show the egg to the audience. Of course, the trick will look more impressive if you show the reverse transformation. To do this, you need to lay the egg in your right palm, and with your left hand gradually pull the handkerchief out of the shell, show it to the audience, and then hide it together with the shell in your pocket.
