“We have cool kids.” How schoolchildren create their social projects | Education | National projects

118 volunteer projects and social initiatives across the country became winners of the #WeTogether International Award in 2021 and were included in the collection of best practices. Let’s talk about some of them.

Green Tassel

The Green Tassel All-Russian social project for schoolchildren became the winner in the Land of Opportunities nomination and was also included in the Our Contribution National Ranking in 2021.

The project has been in existence for 5 years, so by the time of recognition it has already accumulated solid experience and a federal scale – more than 22 thousand schoolchildren from different regions of the country took part in it. Despite the name “Green Tassel”, this is not about children’s fine art. Although it was precisely this that prompted the author of project Vera Kuzubov for an idea.

“I was inspired by an exhibition of children’s drawings in Crimea in 2016, dedicated to my native nature. Then I had many interesting thoughts on how to captivate schoolchildren with the problems of ecology and safety culture, including through the popularization of such important and in-demand professions in our time as an environmental engineer, geologist, chemist-analyst, labor protection specialist, ”recalls Vera Vasilievna.

“Give a Worse School”

Initially, the project was designed for schoolchildren aged 10-14, but educational programs have already been developed for elementary school and high school students. nine0003

Project volunteers travel to a remote region. For example, it could be a working settlement somewhere in the Irkutsk region, a city in the Far East.

“We try to choose settlements away from big cities, where children have fewer opportunities,” explains Vera Kuzubov. – Sometimes you come, and the administration tries to offer the best school. We always resist: no, give worse. For several years of work, good relations have developed with many regions where we are loved and always welcome. This is the Far East, Crimea, the Chechen Republic. The latter, by the way, was one of the first to respond and accept us when we were not yet known. And now every year schools from Chechnya participate with us. Many participants from Central Russia. How are the activities with children going? The first stage is the “Green Line”. This is a large educational module, which consists of lectures, master classes, discussions, mini-laboratory studies and lasts 3-4 hours. True, this time for children flies by unnoticed, like a holiday. After that, students receive a task. At first it was simple – to make a drawing on the topic of ecology or safety (hence the name “Green brush”). Over time, the task was transformed into projects. Entrance like an art gallery

It is clear that all the children who go through the project will not become engineers. Therefore, the global task is the formation of environmental responsibility, environmental awareness and a culture of safety in children.

“Our goal is to launch new initiatives in the region after we have worked there. And what are our children doing? We have a lot of great leaders,” Vera Kuzubov admires.

For example, a 10-year-old boy from Tomsk conducted a poll among schoolchildren on the street about who knows what about ecology. Then he analyzed the results, drew conclusions and decided that he would spend class hours dedicated to ecology at his school, because his peers did not have enough knowledge. A schoolgirl from Norilsk organized a general cleaning in her entrance, and then painted the walls on the floors near the elevator based on the works of famous artists. There appeared “Twilight. Haystacks” by Levitan and others. And since the entrance is now an art gallery, no one raises a hand to litter anymore. Program finale – career guidance week in Moscow for winners’ projects. The selection of the best children’s initiatives takes place remotely. This year, guys from Khabarovsk, Tobolsk, Tomsk, the Arkhangelsk region, Maykop, hearing-impaired kids from Feodosia came to the final. In addition to educational activities, excursions and sightseeing, visits to environmental laboratories, specialized pavilions of VDNKh are provided. The whole trip for children is free.

“Reformat” student

But even if the child didn’t make it to the finals, the master classes are still not in vain. “Children are inspired and “pumped” with new knowledge,” says Vera Kuzubov. – Even if the child did not make the project, but simply spent 3–4 hours on our Green Line, we definitely “reformatted” him. Unfortunately, schoolchildren, especially in remote villages, know little about ecology. But those who have gone through our project know for sure that the garbage must be sorted, that you need to buckle up in the car. And that it’s cool to be so savvy in matters of ecology, safety, it’s cool to check if the fire exit works, if there is one at all, etc. And some are so addicted that they want to become environmentalists. We had such a boy from the Irkutsk region from the working village of Bolshaya Rechka. He told us right away that he always wanted to be foreign minister, like Sergey Lavrov. And after our classes, I decided to become an ecologist.” nine0003

The secret of success is that teaching is not like school lessons and teachers are not like school teachers. Volunteers of the “Green Brush” are young guys, mostly under 30 years old, who are passionate about their work and eager to share their knowledge with children. These are environmental engineers working in large companies and corporations, professional teachers, artists. For example, Mikhail Zheleznov , actor of the Theater of Satire, has been collaborating with the project for many years. In addition, the organizers of the Green Brush project have developed special programs for teachers.

Another area of the project is the eco-tree: about how you can celebrate the New Year in an environmentally friendly and safe way. This year it is planned for the children of mobilized servicemen.

The fact that the project is really successful among children confirms that many children continue to participate in it for a long time. They make new projects, for example, organize community work days in the park or other events. There are already hundreds of useful initiatives. “The more I travel around the regions, the more I am convinced that everything will be fine in our country, because we have such cool children,” says Vera Kuzubov.

Childhood and adolescence

Igor Krutoy was born on the outskirts of the small town of Gayvoron, picturesquely spread out on the banks of the Southern Bug in Ukraine. His father, Yakov Mikhailovich, worked as a freight forwarder at a radio plant for radio components, and his mother, Svetlana Semyonovna, was a laboratory assistant at the local sanitary and epidemiological station. The composer has a 5-year-old younger sister, Alla, with whom Igor has always been very friendly. She subsequently married an Italian, moved to the US and now works in television.

Igor grew up as an ordinary boy, played football with friends, looked at cars with a gleam in his eyes and at first was no different from his peers. At first, he was embarrassed by an unusual and even impudent surname – she obliged too much.

This activity captivated the teenager so much that he began to perform at local discos, masterfully performing compositions from the repertoire of the legendary Beatles on the button accordion. Later, when his own “Ionica” (Soviet synthesizer) appeared in the local house of culture, Igor began to play on it. From the sixth grade, he brought money to the family, albeit small.

Seeing her son’s obvious abilities in music, his mother insisted that after the eighth grade he enter a music school. Apparently, Svetlana Semyonovna had a very developed intuition. She stubbornly insisted that her son take up music, and persuaded Igor to go to an audition with a teacher from a music school in Kirovograd, the regional center.

The teacher admitted that the young man had an excellent ear for music and even the makings of a composer. But, alas, Igor did not even know the basics of musical theory. He was given a condition: if you learn to play the piano in a year, we will take it. Then, despite the difficult financial situation in the family, Igor was bought a used piano. Having excellently graduated from the Kirovograd Musical College, the young man tried to enter the Kyiv Conservatory, but did not pass the competition. After working for a year as a music teacher in a rural school, he entered the Nikolaev Pedagogical Institute at the conductor-choir department. During his studies, Igor worked part-time at a local restaurant, where he met Alexander Serov, who became his true friend and colleague for many years.

In the States, Igor Krutoy owns an apartment in Miami with a wonderful view of the coast, and a 500-meter apartment in New York. It has a view of Central Park from its window. Also, the composer, in addition to an apartment in Moscow, has real estate in Monaco and a private house in Jurmala.

In 2018, fans noticed that the composer had dramatically lost weight, and suspected the worst. It turned out that Krutoy really had health problems, but it was just diabetes.
