Seventy years ago, Valley Children’s Healthcare began as the vision of five civic-minded women who saw the need for a dedicated pediatric hospital in Central California. Since then, we’ve grown from a 42-bed hospital to one of the largest pediatric healthcare networks in the country.
In all we do, we honor our founding mothers and the vision that started it all.

Mac’s Story
At 37 weeks pregnant, Veronica woke up in labor at 4 a.m., then rushed to the hospital. A little more than an hour later, Mac was born. Mac had spina bifida and a severe form of Chiari malformation, a condition where brain anatomy extends into the spinal canal. Because of his critical condition, he was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital with his father and pastor training close behind.

Children’s playground “Polyanka polar explorer” in Murmansk

Playground
Identity and navigation
“Valley of Comfort” is a large forest area in Murmansk, where people walk and play sports all year round. The studio designed the Polyanka Polyarnik playground for the park and brought the project to life together with the Leapfrog Company. The new attraction attracts even more tourists from all over the city.
Everything is united by a common plot – the visit of a curious polar bear to the polar station.
The bear and most of the playground equipment are made of processed logs, so the playground fits neatly into the natural environment.
On the roof of the station is a command post, consisting of a euphony tube and an acoustic dish. Children climb up and talk with friends on the ground.
Especially for snowball fights, there are three targets at different heights.
For the little ones there is a separate area with sand and a smaller slide.
The polar night in Murmansk lasts almost a month and a half, so there is illumination even inside the objects.
