Biography
Hollywood actor Donald Sutherland has prestigious awards to his credit, including an Oscar for his achievements in cinema.
The artist gave the world cinema several dozen excellent box office films. He gained popularity on both sides of the ocean, having worked with the best directors of the Old and New Worlds.
Childhood and youth
Donald McNichel Sutherland was born in the Canadian province of New Brunswick in the summer of 1935. Childhood and youth passed in the city of Saint John. The actor has English, Scottish and German blood in his veins.
There were no artists or representatives of any other kind of art in the Sutherland family: his father was a traveling salesman, his mother was a housewife. Acting was not Donald’s cherished childhood dream, although the teenager’s range of interests was wide: sports, reading, journalism. Donald became a student at the municipal university, choosing the engineering department.
The future artist studied successfully, but soon noticed that he was not interested in the specialty of an engineer. All Donald’s thoughts were occupied with classes in the university theater circle and performances on the stage of the amateur theater.
