Here are some reviews from our users.

“Kids R Kids has been such a blessing for our family. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming from the moment you and your child walk through the door. We started our son here at 3 months old and have been so happy with the staff and teachers who have helped our son feel safe, loved, and have worked with us to help him grow to the month old he is now. We sadly just moved out of state but wish we could bring Kids R Kids with us. We will miss them so much!!”

“We’ve been going here for almost 4 years now and we have been so happy with our overall experience. I didn’t grow up going to a day care/preschool so I was not sure what to expect. It was a little nerve racking to think someone other than myself would be spending so much time with my child. Every single worry or doubt is now gone thanks to the level of care and thought that goes into the programs this Kids R Kids location offers. The staff is amazing, they do an excellent job at balancing out nurturing, thoughtful learning, discipline, and overall learning skills from academics to social. They have soccer, dance, cooking, crafts, reading, seriously you name it, they do it and they do it well.
I am so grateful to be able to drop off my son and know he is in such good hands. They remained there for us through the pandemic and adjusted so well, it seams effortless but I have no doubt they have bent over backwards to ensure the safety and security of the kids and staff, all so that we as parents can stay focused on the jobs we have. I can’t say enough great things about this school and the programs they offer. If you’re looking for a spot, you’ll be lucky to get in here!”

“I have had by daughter enrolled since Feb of and I can’t say enough good things of Kids R Kids Learning Academy of West Houston. My daughter is always excited to attend the school and even on my work from home days she wants to attend. I am extremely pleased with all the staff and how much they truly care about each individual child that attends. I have had peace of mind each day that I have dropped off my daughter that she is in good hands. From having well balanced meals that include fruits and veggies to the learning agenda I am extremely confident I found the best place to have my daughter at. I have never had an issue with any of the staff members when it comes to my daughters well being. Management is also extremely helpful and always on top of things. My daughter has learned so much in Ms. Elizabeth’s class and I can’t thank her enough including Ms. Hill and Ms. Sandoval. I will definitely be back for summer when I am in need of a place for my daughter in the future.”

“I had my son enrolled here for about a year and a half and it was such a positive experience. Everyone knew his name and he always looked forward to seeing his teachers and friends. I never worried about him when he was here. The only reason we left was that we moved.”

“The management and staff are absolutely amazing. My little guy has been at KrK since he was 3 and has transitioned to the before and after care program now that he goes to “big boy school”. We so appreciate the care and love that has been put into his education and development.”

biography

Early life

Johnson was born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 6, 1867, to Asa S. Johnson and Caroline Reeves Johnson. After the death of his mother in 1869He was sent to live with his mother’s sister and her husband on their farm in northern Kent, near Smyrna.

Asa remarried, and at the age of ten, young Johnson moved to Dover to live with his father and stepmother. Johnson attended the Delaware Academy with the hope of going to college, but he was a poor student, and after graduating in 1882 at age fifteen, the headmaster of the Academy told him, “You’re too dumb as hell to go to college.” Go and learn a craft.” [4]

Thus, in 1883, Johnson was apprenticed to J. Lodge & Son, a car repair shop in Philadelphia. In 1888, his apprenticeship was completed and Johnson became a machinist at the newly established Scull Machine Shop in Camden, New Jersey. John Warwick Skull graduated from Lehigh University last year with a degree in mechanical engineering, [5] and his father Andrew funded the purchase of a building at 108 N. Front Street in Camden for his son to open a shop. [4]

Later that year, John W. Skull died suddenly. Johnson became foreman and manager, while Skull’s father remained the owner. At the time of his death, John W. Skull was working on the development of a bookbinding machine. Johnson completed the design of the machine, but soon after decided to head west in search of his fortune. He eventually made it to Washington State, but Johnson found work in the west as a manual laborer. By 1891 he was back in Philadelphia.

Eldridge R. Johnson Manufacturing Company

During Johnson’s absence, Skull was unable to successfully sell the binder. Upon Johnson’s return to the east, Skull proposed a partnership. In 1894, Johnson bought out Skull’s share of the company and the Eldridge R. Johnson Manufacturing Company was born.

In addition to making wire stitchers and bookbinding machines, Johnson’s shop did many small jobs, including steam models and machine conversions. A customer named Henry Whitaker brought a hand-operated Berlin gramophone designed by the Emil Berliner Company to Johnson’s shop and asked Johnson to design a spring-operated motor for it. Johnson did so, but Whitaker found the result unsatisfactory.

Johnson later wrote of his first encounter with the gramophone that “this little instrument was poorly constructed. It was like a partially formed parrot with a sore throat and a head cold. But a small, husky instrument caught my attention and held it quickly and firmly. I became interested in this because I had never been interested in anything before. It was exactly what I was looking for.” [6]

In the summer of 1895 Johnson was recommended to the Berliner Gramophone Company as a potential developer of a spring driven motor. While cylindrical phonographs were successfully fitted with clock motors, the disc gramophone presented a number of design challenges in this regard. First of all, it is the resistance created by the needle and the sound box when applied to the outer edge of the disc. This required the engine to provide enough torque at startup while maintaining a constant speed. Berliner representatives were pleased with Johnson’s design, and a year later Johnson began building engines for Berliner.

During this period, Johnson continued to refine the engine, introducing the engine and using a three-ball centrifugal governor design to maintain a constant speed. Johnson also spent the winter in Philadelphia collaborating with Alfred Clarke on various improvements to the gramophone; the most significant of these was a vastly improved sound box. Together with the new Johnson motor, the Clark-Johnson sound box became the basis for the improved Berlin gramophone 1897 years old

United Talking Machine Company

Around this time, Johnson began experimenting with cloud-based disc burning and copying technologies. Johnson had long been unhappy with the breathy, scratchy sound of Berlin’s discs and believed that the recording and mastering process could be improved. Berliner’s master recording process involved coating a zinc disc with an acid-resistant grease film and then scraping off that coating with a writing stylus. Berliner then immersed the recorded disc in an acid bath to create deeper grooves. Thanks to this master, it was easy to make stampers for mass production of records – an undeniable advantage over the difficult-to-duplicate wax cylinders of Edison’s phonograph.

While examining Berliner discs under a microscope, Johnson discovered that the acid etching process creates random uneven grooves on the records that become scratchy and noisy when played. Johnson began experimenting with Edison’s molten wax cylinders in an attempt to apply the sonic advantages of Bell-Tainter’s wax engraving method to sidecut gramophone discs.

Johnson managed to develop a satisfactory recording process, but mass production still proved to be a challenge. Whereas Berlin’s zinc craftsmen were readily electroplated to make the stamping craftsmen’s job easier, Johnson’s wax discs were not. Johnson contacted K.K. Haddon, a colleague with J. Lodge and Son, who had access to electroplating equipment. Johnson provided Haddon with a fragment of a gramophone disc, ostensibly to conceal the direction of his research.

After two years and an investment of $50,000, Johnson was ready to enter the Gramophone record market in 1900; he incorporated as the Consolidated Talking Machine Company of Philadelphia, and began selling records as well as various models of gramophones under that name. This led Johnson directly into a bitter legal dispute between sailors and Berliners; Seaman sued Johnson in early 1901 and sought an injunction preventing Johnson from selling gramophones. An injunction against the production was denied, but Johnson was temporarily banned from using variations of the word “gramophone”. On March 12, less than two weeks after the court’s decision, Johnson registered the Victor trademark.

Legacy

Breidenthart

Following the sale of the Victor Talking Machine Company and exiting the phonograph business in 1926, Johnson largely retired from the public eye. He donated large sums of his vast fortune to various charities and established the Johnson Foundation for Research in Medical Physics at the University of Pennsylvania at 1929 [7] The Foundation, now the Eldridge Reeves Johnson Foundation, is affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. [8]

After several years in a state of poor health, Johnson died on November 14, 1945 at the age of 78 at Breidenhart , his home in Moorestown Township, New Jersey, after suffering a stroke days earlier. [9]

On February 26, 1985, Johnson posthumously received the 19 Employees. “E. R. JOHNSON DIED; FOUNDED VICTOR CO.; President of Talking Machine. There were 78 before 1927 – sold for $40,000,000. HUNT LOST CIVILIZATION. Led Scientific Teams to Easter Island, Yucatan – Provided $1 million for Research”, New York Times , November 15, 1945. Accessed March 1, 2011. “MOORESTAUN, NJ, November 14. for the children to talk”

Each of us wants to live a happy, fulfilling life, but from time to time we encounter psychological problems that we cannot solve on our own. Misunderstandings with children, conflicts, disobedience, as well as emotional instability, anxiety, low self-esteem are just a small part of what many of us have to deal with in adulthood. Familiar methods and attitudes no longer work (or perhaps never worked), so we turn to the search for new ones. It is not for nothing that literature on the topic of psychology is so popular nowadays – people want to get out of the vicious circle of problems and start living happily. In this regard, we want to present you two books aimed at solving just such problems: “How to talk so that children will listen and how to listen so that children will speak” from the authors A. Faber A and E. Mazlish and “I want and I will. 6 Rules for a Happy Life, or the Labkovsky Method in Action” by Mikhail Labkovsky. Both books are absolute bestsellers in their genre, and, it should be noted, for good reason.

Everyone has problems in relationships with children. Why don’t you listen, why are you behaving like this? – such reproaches are familiar to every child. And every parent sometimes feels powerless when they cannot “get through” to their son or daughter. But maybe the whole point is that adults do not always know how to convey their thoughts and feelings to the child and how to understand him? This book is a sensible, understandable, well-written, humorous guide on how to properly communicate with children from preschoolers to teenagers.

No boring theory! Only proven practical recommendations and a lot of live examples for all occasions. The authors, world-famous experts in the field of parent-child relations, share with the reader both their own experience (each of them has three adult children) and the experience of numerous parents who attended their seminars. The book will be of interest to anyone who wants to come to a complete understanding with children and forever end generational conflicts.

I can’t say that I have read a lot of books on child psychology, but it was How to Say… that made the strongest impression on me. This is literally a guide on how to properly communicate with children. And not only with children – I am sure that the book will be useful to absolutely everyone, since in some moments this also applies to our friends, spouses, relatives (although, of course, the emphasis here is on communicating with children of different ages).

The book is easy to read, as it is written in the language for ordinary people, without specific terms, but, nevertheless, you should not hurry while reading it. At the very beginning of the story, there is a “parting word” from the authors on how to read the book in order to get the most out of it: thoughtfully, slowly, taking time to answer questions and complete assignments (they are in every chapter, and even blank lines to enter your answers and results). Do not “skip” difficult moments and do not try to read it in one evening – this way the information may remain in your head, but it will not be fixed in practice, so it is better not to neglect the latter.

I am absolutely sure that “How to say…” was created for those who are looking for ways to solve problems, who are ready to change (otherwise it is unlikely to be useful), because it is actually very difficult. I immediately had an association with a foreign language – even knowing it in theory, it is always difficult to start applying it in practice. So it was in my case – it seemed that, following the advice from the book, I looked stupid, I was uncomfortable, it required constant control and mental effort one month). However, after the advice worked once, then a second time, it gave confidence that it is imperative to continue looking for new ways of interaction.

It is not easy to apply advice also because deep in our subconscious we already have established ways and manner of communicating with children, including when they do not obey. This manner passed to us from our parents, and to them from their parents, but it does not allow you to establish close relationships in the family, but rather the opposite. Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish talk about other ways to “influence” children – not through punishment, abuse, and even more so, assault, but through understanding and accepting the feelings of the child. It may seem that there are a lot of such books now, and they are all about one thing, but for me the main difference was that the book provides specific examples and solutions to problems (there are many of them, and you can use different ones).

These examples are also drawn in comics, written in thesis, told from the first persons (parents) – for a better understanding. Both the authors and the parents in these situations are, of course, foreigners, but the problem of communication with children is so the same and does not depend on the country of residence that it does not matter.

I also liked that each of the chapters contained new, unique information, rather than passing a single thought from one to the next. And the chapter on how to properly praise children (and people in general) has become my favorite – previously this “art” was inaccessible to me, but now I understand the important point, and this helps to strengthen the child’s faith in himself.

From time to time, as I read the book, questions arose in my head (what if the method didn’t work? What if the reaction was different? etc.), and, to my surprise, I always found answers to them.

Of course, no one guarantees that immediately after reading the book everything will change by itself, and even after you have successfully applied the recommended techniques several times in practice. It’s like with proper nutrition – not a short story, not an experiment (although at first, of course, yes), but a way of life that you have to learn, but if you wish, this is possible.

I will definitely come back to re-reading “How to say…”, because I see a great and important meaning in its content, as well as specific techniques and phrases that work!

The new supplemented edition has a preface and a chapter where psychologist Mikhail Labkovsky analyzes each rule in detail, talks about the nuances, and explains the technique to make it easier to apply. To make life easier, clearer, and most importantly, happier.

Mikhail Labkovsky is absolutely sure that a person can and has the right to be happy and do only what he wants. His book is about how to understand yourself, find harmony and learn to enjoy life.

The author wonders why a person does not get joy and pleasure from life: where do we get conscious and unconscious anxieties, fears, inability to listen to ourselves and build relationships with other people?

A distinctive feature of Labkovsky’s approach is its specificity. He always gives the most intelligible answer to any most difficult question. His statements and advice are so radical that many are initially surprised, if not shocked. In the recommendations, the author does not hide behind streamlined formulations, but clearly names the causes of the problems. And most importantly, he knows how to solve this problem – without digging into childhood psychotrauma and a close analysis of your past. If a person has the knowledge and desire, then it is quite possible to change yourself and your life for the better. The purpose of publishing this book is the personal happiness of everyone who reads it.

Hardly anyone has not heard of the Labkovsky Method and its legendary book, which has been breaking all sales records since its publication. So it became interesting for me to get acquainted with the Six Rules for a Happy Life, especially after a large number of enthusiastic reviews on the net.

In my opinion, at first it takes some time to get used to the manner of narration of a psychologist (or at least it took me), since the style of presentation is close to colloquial, narrative, and not scientific. But after this has happened, the reading goes on very easily and naturally.

I would like to pay special attention to the design and layout of the book, just holding it in your hands and flipping through it is already a great pleasure, and even reading, and even more so, is convenient and pleasant.

In the reviews, I met the opinion that the author expresses his thoughts sometimes sharply and radically, but I did not think so. Specifically, yes, but I never had the feeling that someone was “teaching” me.

I agreed with many of his thoughts and noticed that this is how I try to live (which is nice), and it really helps to feel happier (for example, to think about what you really want and what you don’t trying to understand your true desires). Not absolutely, of course, but at least partially.

Those same 6 rules are set out at the very beginning, and there is also an explanatory chapter on the entire methodology (the new 2nd supplemented edition is distinguished by its presence), how to understand them correctly, and most importantly, how to live by them. The rules sound as simple as possible, but living by them is a real task with an asterisk. There are still especially heated discussions around the first two, since they seem to many people to be absurd, having nothing to do with reality:

      1. Do only what you want
      2. Don’t do what you don’t want
      3. Immediately say what you don’t like
      4. Do not answer when not asked
      5. Answer question only
      6. When sorting things out, talk only about yourself

Labkovsky himself does not deny that if you live according to them to the full, it can and will cause severe discomfort, and will also lead to certain losses (money or people), but they are not intended for everyone. The whole theory is aimed at building new neural connections in the so-called “neurotics” (of whom the majority in our society are people with emotional instability). This is why you need to behave differently than you are used to. Ultimately, this will lead to normal self-esteem, self-confidence and that very happy life.

In fact, the whole book is divided into three large blocks: Personality, Relationships, Children. They discuss the main problems that most people have at each of these levels, and how to solve them on their own (if there are no psychological illnesses, since only a psychologist / psychiatrist can help in this case). It talks about true desires, addictions, money, self-love, happy and neurotic relationships, mom and dad’s “cockroaches”, periods of kindergarten and school, etc. All this is presented in a simple and understandable language, in which there is no place for allegory.

As for the Six Rules, I can’t say that they completely turned my worldview upside down, however, there is definitely a benefit in the book (maybe it will be more for someone, and less for someone – it all depends on by what “rules” you lived before and live now). Some thoughts were only confirmed once again (since I had already met them in other books), some were new.
