Is Kids R Kids School Worth It? (Review + Pros & Cons)

When choosing childcare for your son or daughter, the most important thing is that you decide on somewhere where your child will be happy.

This philosophy is shared by the Kids R Kids preschool franchise, whose schools place a real focus on love, kindness, and nurturing.

But are Kids R Kids schools as great as everyone seems to say that they are? Are they worth paying more than the cheaper independent nurseries in your area?

Is Kids R Kids worth it? Here’s a full review.

Kids R Kids is well loved by parents for the high level of nurturing and care kids receive there. The curriculum has a focus on child safety and love, making sure all kids feel safe and can nurture their creativity and character first and foremost. Some parents, however, find that Kids R Kids fees are too high and/or inflexible, so make sure you check the rates at your local school.

(My youngest daughter actually goes to a Kids R Kids in Georgia, and so far we’ve loved the experience!)

Let’s take a closer look at the pros, cons, costs, and other details about life at Kids R Kids.

What is Kids R Kids?

Kids R Kids Learning Academies is a childcare franchise with over 170 locations in the USA as well as a rapidly expanding presence in China.

Founded by husband and wife team Pat and Janice Vinson in 1985, the couple has experience in childcare that dates back over 50 years.

Kids R Kids offers care for children from six weeks to six years of age as well as before and after school and summer camp programs for children up to twelve years old.

The franchise is accredited by Cognia and individual schools generally also have local accreditation as well.

Kids R Kids Teaching Philosophy Explained

According to the Kids R Kids website, the brand’s most cherished principle is “HUG FIRST, THEN TEACH”.

The Kids R Kids philosophy is that happy children are better prepared for school achievement and success in life.

Children should therefore be loved unconditionally and taught with kindness.

The Kids R Kids curriculum is known as the ‘First Class Curriculum’.

It focuses on all areas of a child’s development including character, intellect, physical growth, and creativity. But above all, the emphasis is on children feeling safe, loved, and inspired.

As Kids R Kids is a franchise, each school is individually owned and operated. The owners are on-site and are encouraged to take a very active role in the management of their school.

Kids R Kids has a unique program for each age group:

  • Infants – A focus on brain development with activities like sensory play, art, music, and storytime
  • Toddlers – Hands-on learning techniques with puppets, music, sign language, and games
  • Preschool – Preparing children for kindergarten and beyond with short, theme-based units that cover literacy, language, math, science, social studies, and physical development
  • Before & After School – Age-appropriate supervised activities offer structure, guidance, and fun

Kids R Kids Day To Day Procedures/Typical Day

Let’s take a look at what life is like at Kids R Kids schools.

Classrooms

The classrooms at Kids R Kids schools have been purpose-built with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, child-sized restrooms, separate storage areas, and direct access to fenced-in playgrounds.

Each age group has its own separate playground where children can enjoy free play on age-appropriate apparatus.

Meals

All food and snacks are provided at Kids R Kids.

Each school has a dedicated commercial-grade kitchen and cafeteria where meals are prepared by certified chefs following USDA guidelines.

Transport

Kids R Kids provides bus transportation to take school-age children between local schools and the after-school club.

The buses are also used for field trips in the community for younger children.

Reports

Parents receive daily reports which may be handwritten or electronic, depending on the school.

(Ours in Georgia are handwritten.)

These detail each day’s activities as well as giving information about how much food was eaten and how long the child napped for.

Most schools also have video cameras that parents can view via their mobile phones at any time.

Most parents find this to be very reassuring. However, there was one incident reported that caused a particular Kids R Kids preschool to lose its franchise after a parent saw white children being served food ahead of black children.

The Kids R Kids CEO, David Vinson, apologized for the incident which he described as ‘random and isolated’.

Opening Hours

The opening times vary depending on the school, but most are open their doors between 6 am and 7 am and close between 5 pm and 6 pm, Monday through Friday.

Although the opening hours are quite long, some schools request that children are not at school for more than 9½ to 10 hours per day.

Kids R Kids schools are closed for public holidays, but fees may still be due.

Day-to-Day Procedures

As Kids R Kids schools are individually owned and operated, the day-to-day procedures will vary by school.

The company doesn’t publish a lot of information about these details online. Instead, prospective parents are encouraged to book a tour of their local Kids R Kids daycare facility.

When you take a tour, it’s a good idea to come prepared with questions that you would like answers to.

We suggest asking the following as a minimum:

  • What’s the procedure for dropping off and collecting children?
  • How many children and teachers are in each classroom?
  • Can families take vacations without paying fees for that period?
  • Are baby care items such as diapers, wipes, formula milk, and bottles provided?

You’ll find more questions to add to your list here.

Kids R Kids Tuition Examples

Some Kids R Kids schools list the tuition fees online, but many do not.

The fees vary by location to account for the fact that some cities and states generally have a higher cost of living than others.

As a ballpark range, you can expect to pay between $195 and $340 per week for an infant and $185 to $260 per week for a five-year-old.

Most Kids R Kids schools also offer part-time care on certain days of the week.

When you apply for a place, you’ll be asked to pay an enrollment fee which can cost around $100 to put your child’s name on the waitlist.

The first four weeks’ tuition fees may also be due at the time of enrollment.

What Real Parents Are Saying About Kids R Kids Schools

We read through reviews of Kids R Kids schools across the US to get an idea of what parents love about their local Kids R Kids school and the areas they’d like to see improvements.

We’ve used these real-life reviews to come up with a list of the pros and cons of Kids R Kids Learning Academies.

If you’re reading online reviews yourself, it’s important to consider that schools may change owners over time.

Any reviews from a time when a particular school was under different management are likely to be less relevant than newer reviews.

Pros

The teachers are loving and caring

Online reviews of Kids R Kids frequently mention how much children adore their caregivers.

At Kids R Kids, each day starts with a hug, and the warm and caring attitudes of the teachers help to make parents and kids very happy with the overall experience.

“I just had to mention Ms.Roshni in room 250. My son was in her class and now my daughter is and she LOVES going into daycare each day. She can’t run fast enough to Ms.Roshni.

“That is because she truly cares about those children as if they were her own – she takes the best care of them and runs that room so well, she also goes above and beyond to do sweet things for them whether it’s their birthday or a holiday she goes all out – it is so thoughtful!”

Lindsey O

The owners are present

Parents like the fact that the franchise owners are always on site and available to speak to if there are any issues that need to be addressed.

“The new owners are more involved and present than any other facility we have had experience with They are literally there every day greeting the students, while other places we rarely (if ever) saw owners – just directors.”

Crystal Y

The fees include things that other schools charge extra for

Some daycares charge extra for meals and supplies or ask families to provide a packed lunch. Parents are generally pleased with what’s included at Kid R Kids.

“Tuition includes wipes, meals, and usage of the camera system. All this & it is still cheaper than the last place we went.”

Anon A

Cons

The camera system isn’t as good as you might expect

While having access to security cameras throughout the day is an advantage, some parents are frustrated that the cameras do not save a copy of each day’s recording.

“The cameras they have at the day care only live stream and do not record so any injury that happens to your child while in their care, can easily be hidden unless the teacher actually reports it.

 Joanna R

There’s a lack of flexibility regarding fees

One parent was disappointed that their local school was unwilling to waive fees on days when parents were unable to go to work due to the weather.

“They enforced their mandatory minimum tuition rule for the week of the hurricane, regardless of parents who were out of work and displaced.

“When I sent an email complaining that this was in poor taste and looked like they were shamelessly attempting to profit off of hurricane Harvey victims, I was given the shove off by the manager and told to take my business elsewhere if I didn’t like it.”

Mary C

Wrapping Up

On the whole, parents who send their children to Kids R Kids are extremely happy with the service and level of care that’s provided.

They love the purpose-built facilities, the variety of activities, and the level of individual attention that kids receive.

Depending on where you live, the Kids R Kids tuition fees can be quite high compared to independent daycares and preschools, so it’s worth getting in touch with a few providers to get an idea of how much a place would cost for your children.

Remember, as each Kids R Kids school is an individual franchise, the best way to get a feel for the school is to take a tour for yourself.

About Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academies

Ever since our launch in 1985, Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academies has been focused on redefining childcare and setting trends in early childhood education. Armed with a national AdvancED® accreditation and an exclusive curriculum written by some of the best early education professionals in the nation, we’re doing just that; and we show no signs of stopping!

Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academies is a privately owned preschool franchising system that educates and cares for children from 6 weeks through 12 years.

All Learning Academies are individually owned and operated.

Our philosophy is to “Hug First, Then Teach”.

Our programs are Cognia Accredited.

    • 1.1 Children’s tickets to socially unprotected categories of citizens
  • 2 Railway benefits
  • 3 children’s tickets for aircraft
  • 4 Children’s benefits for water transport

We all use different modes of transport quite often, such as road, rail and air travel. Of course, in most cases, we overcome distances with our children. The age up to which a child ticket is issued may vary depending on the type of transport. For example, in public transport, children can use free travel up to 7 years, and in airplanes up to 2.

Reduced fares for children are provided:

  • In public transport
  • Railway transport
  • For air transportation
  • By water transport

Discounts for children on urban public transport

Free travel for children on urban and suburban public transport is allowed for children under seven years of age, without providing a separate seat, in intercity transport the same conditions apply for children under five years of age.

Also, if children cannot be transported in any mode of transport without providing a separate seat, then the passenger is granted the right to transport two children under the age of twelve with separate seats provided to them at a 50% discount (Resolution No. 259-ФЗ “Charter of Motor Transport and urban ground electric transport).

Children’s tickets for socially vulnerable categories of citizens

Children from large families are provided with benefits for free travel on trams, trolleybuses, metro, and city taxis (this does not apply to ordinary taxis). In addition, these benefits apply to students of general education schools for travel in buses of intracity routes (Presidential Decree No. 431 “On measures of social support for large families”).

For disabled children and orphans, there are discounts for travel in public transport, which, after receiving them, remain until the age of eighteen. And for children who have lost their breadwinner, benefits remain until adulthood, for university students up to twenty-three years. For orphans up to twenty-three years of age on the same terms.

Benefits for travel in railway transport

A train passenger has the right to provide free travel for one child under the age of five years, provided that he does not occupy a separate seat in compartment cars, SV cars, common seated or reserved seats, and in addition but not older than ten years in luxury carriages.

In addition, any passenger has the right to travel for children aged five to ten years on separate seats, paying the corresponding child fare with a discount in domestic directions, as well as in the Baltic and CIS countries (the amount of the discount depends on the type of train, category, carriage class, service, and travel distance):

  • Children are entitled to travel free of charge in domestic luxury carriages.
  • 65% discount for travel in SV carriages, compartment carriages, second-class carriages, as well as general seated carriages of domestic traffic.
  • Preferential travel for children in interstate traffic (foreign countries).

To obtain a reduced ticket for a child, it is mandatory to present a birth certificate.

In addition, students of general education schools not older than ten years of age also have the right to reduced fares on trains . They can get a 50% discount on tickets in reserved seat and common carriages of long-distance passenger and fast trains, as well as in carriages of 1-3 classes, trains of the 800th numbering of long-distance domestic traffic. When traveling in ordinary fast trains and branded passenger trains, similarly, half the ticket price is paid.

To obtain preferential travel documents, a certificate of a student or full-time student is required.

Airline tickets for children

All airlines offer discounts and discounts for children. On domestic and international flights , children under two years of age are transported by their parents absolutely free of charge , without providing them with a separate seat. If parents are transporting two or more children, then starting from the second, they are provided with separate seats and only half the cost of the ticket is paid without the right to carry baggage free of charge. Also, children aged two to twelve years are entitled to flights with a discount of not more than 50% of the ticket price, while they are entitled to a separate seat and twenty kilograms of baggage, in accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 106 of the Air Code of the Russian Federation .

For transportation of unaccompanied children, each company individually determines the conditions for granting benefits, since each company has its own technology and its own rules for transporting unaccompanied children.

  • with children

All airlines offer discounts on air tickets for children up to and including 12 years of age. Older children will fly at the adult fare. When selling tickets for children, airlines do not limit the minimum age of the child. Passengers with newborns can fly with permission from a doctor.

Air tickets for children differ in fares, which are divided into three categories:

Air tickets for children under 2 years old

Air tickets for infants can be purchased free of charge or for 10% of the cost of an adult air ticket. According to the fare rules, children travel without luggage and in the arms of an adult. If you are flying on a domestic flight and do not leave the country, the flight is free for the baby, provided that he does not occupy a separate seat.

We recommend taking a separate seat for 50% of the fare. It is useful to secure a child seat or cradle. Check with the airline in advance about the installation of child seats and cradles, this is not possible in all types of aircraft and airlines.

If you take a child seat, then it must have a factory marking confirming its use in the aircraft. There are no problems with strollers: check in your luggage when boarding, get it on arrival. Or check in immediately, along with the rest of your luggage at the check-in counter. The airline can provide a temporary wheelchair free of charge, check its availability in advance.

Tickets for children 2-12 years old

Tickets for children over 2 years old can be purchased for 50-75% of the cost of an adult ticket. It involves a separate seat, baggage and hand luggage. On domestic flights, the child fare will be 50% of the ticket price, on international flights – up to 75%. About the transportation of child seats and strollers, you need to call and check with the airlines, as each air carrier has its own rules.

Tickets for children from 12 to 18 years old

Tickets for children over 12 years old are sold at full price. Before buying tickets, check with the airline about the availability of discounts for children under 18 or youth fares.

When searching for children’s tickets, be sure to indicate the age of the children. So you will quickly find the cheapest and most suitable flights, taking into account discounts.

In the search for Avianiti flights, you can immediately specify children under 12 years old or infants under 2 years old. The search will search for discounted flights across all airlines and ticket agencies and will offer flight options for children.

When planning a trip, choose morning flights when the child is in a good mood, not yet tired or naughty. Fly on unpopular days – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It will be cheaper and less crowded.

Before buying tickets, be sure to read the rules and conditions for the carriage of baggage and its cost on the official websites of the airlines. Even if you flew with this airline, re-read the rules, they could change.

Cabin baggage

Children’s tickets have a standard carry-on baggage allowance, where you can take baby food and water for the child. At the airport, when passing through security, security personnel sometimes check liquids.

You can also carry a carry cot free of charge in hand luggage. If the child is flying in their own seat, then you can take a child seat that is suitable for attaching to the aircraft.

Checked baggage

Some airlines do not provide baggage for infants, but they allow free transportation of a stroller, which can be checked in at the gangway. For children’s fares, airlines can reduce baggage allowances, find out in advance so that there are no unpleasant situations. You can always check in extra baggage on the airline’s website.

When flying a child under the age of 14 across Russia, as well as to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, a birth certificate is required. Children over 14 years of age will need a passport.

On international flights, the child needs:

When planning a trip abroad, before purchasing air tickets and starting the trip, specify which documents the child will need to fly to a particular country. Find out the exact list of documents in advance on the website of the embassy of the country where the child is sent.

Airlines offer free extras for passengers with children. Each air carrier has its own set of services and depends on the level of the airline. On flights longer than 3 hours, airlines may provide children’s entertainment kits with games, markers or books. In-flight meals for children must be ordered in advance through the airline’s website or call center.

On airplanes equipped with a multimedia system, there are special children’s channels, audio stories, music, cartoons and games.

Traveling children on public transport – rules and rights

It is known that small children can be transported free of charge on public transport, but the details of transportation may be questionable. On forums and in popular communities on social networks, you can find many stories related to the claims of conductors against parents due to unpaid travel for babies or attempts to recover funds for transporting a stroller.

The issue of children’s travel in urban, suburban and intercity transport in Russia is regulated by a single federal law. Departmental, sightseeing, school vehicles do not belong to the public.

Children under 5 years old have the right to travel free of charge in intercity transport .

Children under 7 years of age are entitled to free travel in urban and suburban transport .

Travel in public transport (buses, trolleybuses, trams, metro, fixed-route taxis)

So, according to Article 789 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, anyone can transport children free of charge or on preferential terms in the manner prescribed by the transport charter. A passenger on urban and suburban routes has the right to carry children under the age of 7 free of charge without providing them with a separate seat , so the baby needs to be taken on your lap during the trip.

However, there is an important caveat. This rule does not apply if the design of a particular vehicle does not provide for the transportation of passengers without providing a separate seat. Most often, it concerns vehicles equipped with seat belts – in it, even the smallest children have to be seated in a separate seat and fastened. However, for children who travel in a separate place, the legislator has provided a special “bonus”.

Under the age of 12 they are entitled to travel on a reduced ticket, which cannot cost more than 50% of the price of a regular travel document.

One adult passenger can carry only two children on reduced tickets. An exception to this rule are fixed-route taxis – accompanied by one adult, an unlimited number of children under 7 years old can ride.

Travel by commuter route (buses and minibuses leaving the city limits no further than 50 kilometers)

The rules for suburban buses are the same as for public transport. Children under 7 ride free . In some suburban buses it is forbidden to travel without a separate seat. In this case, one adult passenger can carry two children on reduced tickets. Their price cannot exceed 50% of the adult fare. Benefits are available up to 12 years old .

Intercity transport (all public transport traveling more than 50 kilometers) children under 5 years of age can be transported free of charge. In this case, the child must sit on the lap of an adult, a separate seat is not provided. For a separate seat at a reduced rate, you will have to pay 50% of the regular rate or less. The cost is set by the carrier.

Schoolchildren are provided with travel benefits at the regional and municipal levels.

The amount of benefits in each region is different. As a rule, schoolchildren travel by bus, trolleybus and metro using a special card or travel ticket with no travel limit. The cost of a card or ticket is fixed, and it is lower than a regular travel pass.

With the onset of frost, the number of requests to disembark children from public transport in the cold increases, and not always at stops. Now this issue is regulated by regional regulations – only in 12 constituent entities of the Russian Federation a document has been adopted prohibiting the landing of free riders in the cold – St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, the Chechen Republic, Kaluga, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Tyumen and Volgograd regions, Autonomous Okrug and the Republic of Tyva. The Ministry of Transport submitted a similar document to the government in March 2019year, but it has not yet been submitted to the State Duma.

On the one hand, a carrier, both private and public, has the right to terminate the carriage of a passenger, both adult and small, in the event of unpaid travel. On the other hand, there is no rule according to which a child is responsible for traveling without a ticket, since administrative responsibility is provided only for persons over 16 years of age.

Given the temperature outside, time of day, location, the controller has no right to leave a child on the street, as there is a threat to his life and health. Leaving in danger is a criminal act, and the one who decides to disembark a minor passenger is personally liable.

Trains

Children under 5 years old can travel with their parents free of charge. In this case, the parent of the baby must issue a child ticket in advance. But the child should not occupy a separate passenger seat and must be in the arms of an adult.

Children 5-7 years old travel exclusively with their parents with the purchase of a paid child ticket with the right to a separate seat. A child from the age of 7 will have to pay the full cost of travel by train, this also applies to reserved seat cars.

Children who are schoolchildren are entitled to reduced fares. It is valid from September 1 to June 15. During the summer, children over 7 years of age must pay the full price of the train fare.

Features of issuing a school train ticket:

  • A reduced ticket is issued to a student aged 10-14 years and entitles him to a 50% discount on travel by train
  • To be eligible to purchase a school ticket, you must have a certificate from the school with you. It indicates the school number, the child’s last name, details of the school and a stamp, as well as the director’s signature. In addition to the certificate, the child must have a document that confirms his identity. This is a birth certificate or a copy of it, which is certified by a notary

Documents of the child

To use the right to free or reduced travel, the child or an adult accompanying him must present a document confirming the age of the small passenger. If there is no document, then no “external signs” will be the basis for granting special rights. It is clear that it can be inconvenient to carry a birth certificate with you all the time, so since 2015 the original birth certificate has been allowed to be replaced with a notarized copy.

Rules for carriage of wheelchairs

Disputes in public transport often arise due to carriage of wheelchairs. Conductors require you to pay for them at a separate rate as baggage. This is illegal. According to the same Charter of Road Transport and Urban Ground Electric Transport, a passenger has the right to carry hand luggage with him free of charge, which includes, among other things, strollers or sleds. However, if the passenger also has other hand luggage, then you will have to pay for it separately.

Also, the wheelchair must not interfere with the entry and exit of passengers. If she stands in the aisle of the bus, the conductor-controller or the driver may refuse to be transported. And in this case, the law will be on their side.

***

It is important to understand that the “travel” rights we have described are not exhaustive. In many regions and localities of Russia, regulations have been adopted that significantly expand them. For example, in Zlatoust and Dimitrovgrad, all schoolchildren can ride public transport for free. Children are given special cards for this.

Since 2019, the State Duma has been discussing proposals to introduce free travel for children in public transport throughout Russia. However, these ideas have not yet been formalized into the current normative act.

The rules we describe do not apply to tourist or commercial flights. Sometimes you will encounter all sorts of “express” and “sightseeing buses” that do not have a fixed “numbered” route, the conductors of which will demand money for the fare of even a small child. Given the reservations in the laws, it is impossible to guarantee 100% that the supervisory and judicial authorities will take your side in this situation, therefore, when boarding buses near an airport or some attraction, it is better to immediately clarify whether the requirements of the Charter apply to a particular carrier. This will save you time and nerves in advance.

up to what age free of charge, benefits and discounts

  • Children’s train fare in Russia
  • Fares for children under 5 years old
  • Fares for children 5-10 years old
  • Russian Railways ticket price for children over 10 years old
  • Documents for a minor to travel abroad
  • Last changes

Thinking about the cost of traveling by transport RZD , it is necessary to take into account the discounts and benefits that the state provides for a children’s travel ticket. Due to the fact that there is a special children’s tariff RZD , the cost of traveling with children will not be so large.

Children’s train fare in Russia

To find out how much a child’s train ticket will cost, include a child in one of the following categories:

  • under five years of age;
  • age from 5 years to 10 years;
  • from 10 years old to the age of majority (18 years old).

Until what age do children enjoy the right to free travel on Russian Railways , as well as what discounts and benefits they are provided – the answer directly depends on age.

When calculating the age, the main thing is not to get confused. For example, if by the day of departure the child is already 5 years old, then it is necessary to purchase a travel card for the category “from 5 to 10 years” similarly with the next category. However, if one turns 5 or 10 years old directly on the trip, then a travel card is purchased for the category up to 5 years and up to 10 years, respectively.

Fares for children under 5 years old

When parents take a child on a road trip, they need to consider under what conditions his trip will take place – with great convenience or at the lowest cost.

Based on this, the choice can be as follows:

There will be one common place with one of the adults

This option will be more economical, because Russian Railways provides under such conditions a benefit for a free travel pass. It will be enough for the parent to pay in full their ticket for the electric train.

However, this does not mean that a travel card will not be required.

The latter will need to be issued:

  • when buying adult tickets at the railway station ticket office or when booking online;
  • before or after purchase of adult passes;
  • directly upon boarding at the head of the train, but possible cash costs should be taken into account.

Availability of a separate seat

If an adult considers a separate seat the best option for their child, then you can buy a child ticket at a discount. The latter is 35-50% of the total cost of an adult travel document.

Only one child under the age of 5 can travel free of charge with an adult. If there are more children, then a ticket is paid for another with a 35-50% discount (if he is provided with a separate seat). If there are several adults, then one more child can be registered with him.

Tariffs for tickets for children aged 5-10

Older children, of course, need a separate seat. It is paid according to the same scheme according to the children’s fare: 35–50% of the full price for an adult ticket.

The cost varies within the specified range according to the selected type of carriage (reserved seat, compartment), as well as the brand of the train. Free travel for children under 10 years old on the train is for those traveling to the place of stay in a luxury carriage.

Coupe is equipped with only two berths.

To purchase a discount ticket, you need a certificate – a birth certificate or a notarized copy. You can buy tickets online.

A child under the age of 10 is not allowed to travel without an adult. The exception is a trip to an educational institution.

Russian Railways ticket price for children over 10 years old

Minor students, unfortunately, pay the full price of the ticket for railway transport.

There are small discounts for schoolchildren.

A special 50% discount for school students (over 10 years old) is provided from September 1, 2019 to May 31, 2022.

This applies only to travel in couchette, seated and shared carriages. Traveling on high-speed trains of the Lastochka type, as well as in compartment cars and the SV category, will cost the full price.

When boarding the train, you will need to present a school certificate, but you will not need it when buying a child pass.

If the student is already 14 years old, then a passport will be required instead of a certificate. But a certificate from the school (with the stamp and signature of an authorized person) will need to be presented both when boarding and when buying such a ticket at the box office.

Children of this age group may proceed to the place of arrival unaccompanied. If a minor moves within Russia with an adult, then a power of attorney from the parents is not required.

Documents for a minor to travel abroad

If a minor goes on a trip with one of the parents, then the consent of the other is not necessary.

To leave Russia for another country by train, you will need a child’s international passport. If the child is included in the parent’s passport, then a document for the child is not needed.

If the passport was issued before March 1, 2010, then a photograph of the child must be pasted into it.

If the minor is traveling unaccompanied, the consent of either parent is required (provided that the other parent does not object). If parents are absent, then consent is given by guardians or other responsible persons. The document must be notarized.

If a child is taken to another country by an adult (not a parent), he also needs a power of attorney from the parents, certified by a notary. In the case of traveling with relatives, a document is required that can confirm the fact of kinship.

At any time, the established rules for the carriage of children, including child fares, benefits and discounts, may change. Therefore, when planning a trip with minors, you need to contact the railway ticket office for more up-to-date information.
