First Dental Visit at Kidz R Kool Pediatric Dentistry Peoria AZ

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Recommends…

The first “regular” dental visit should be no later than your child’s first birthday. It is important that your child’s newly-erupted teeth (erupting at 6 to 12 months of age) receive proper dental care right from the beginning. At Kidz-R-Kool Pediatric Dentistry, the first few visits to our office are very important and our goal is to make it a memorable first impression!

Preparing for the First Visit

  • Please thoroughly complete and submit/bring the patient’s medical history form and insurance information. It will save you time when you arrive at our office for your visit. If you have health insurance cards, please bring them.
  • If your child is prescribed medications, you may choose to bring the prescription with you to show it to the doctor. When transferring from another dental practice, we will request all prior dental records be sent to us with your approval.
  • We encourage you make visiting the dentist an adventure. At home, please avoid phrases such as “it is not going to hurt”, “you will not get a shot” etc.

It’s All How You Word It!

Research shows that sometimes these phrases may create stress prior to appointments and may cause unnecessary apprehension. Instead, you may say that the “dentist may take special pictures of your teeth using x-ray vision like the superheroes” or “the dentist will count how many teeth you have” or “the dentist will brush your teeth”

Coordinating Your Child’s First Appointment

For young children (4 years or younger), it is HIGHLY recommended the visit take place in the morning time. Children are more rested and more cooperative as opposed to during their nap time or after daycare or school. We have seen this makes a huge difference in your child’s ability to cooperate. We are happy to provide excuse forms for work and school to accommodate this schedule.

What To Expect

Upon entering the office, you will be greeted immediately by our friendly staff. We will take you on a tour of the office, allowing your child to become familiar with their surroundings. We will begin by gaining and establishing trust with your child using behavior management strategies such as “Tell-Show-Do” and “Positive Reinforcement.” Your child will be shown all of the instruments we will be using today and how they work, often demonstrating their use on the child’s hand first.

You will meet Dr. Morghan or Dr. Fatima who will perform a comprehensive exam. Your child’s age and comfort level will help determine the length of their appointment. Younger, more nervous children may sit in their parents lap for their cleaning and exam. Our goal is to establish the dentist’s office as a safe, friendly place. Depending on your child’s specific needs, we may also take images using our low-dose digital imaging system.

Dr. Morghan or Dr. Fatima will review all of the findings with you.

She will discuss the cavity process, diet, hygiene, thumb-sucking, pacifier use, fluoride exposure and answer any questions you may have. Your involvement in your child’s health care is extremely important to us. You and the doctor will work together to create a specific treatment or preventative plan that is best for your family. After the appointment is completed your child will be given a gift bag and a token to pick out a prize from the toy tower!

Always use car seats for young children and require seat belts for older children. And if your child plays contact sports, have him wear a mouthguard. Ask us about creating a custom-fitted mouth-guard for your child. Finally, prevent toothaches with regular brushing, flossing, and visits to our office.

Why are children beautiful? – Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Republic of Bashkortostan. DUMRB

After reading the title of the article, someone will think: “Well, what a stupid question? They are beautiful because they are still small!”. Is it really? Or maybe it’s not about age at all? If anyone reading this article has children, you must have observed that when they take offense at someone they played with a few moments ago, they only need a couple of minutes to make up and start playing again. This is not surprising, in their behavior as an example for us, the verse “. .. restrain their anger and forgive people … (3:134). nine0003

And when you pick up your child from kindergarten, did you notice that all children are equally beautiful, harmless, trusting and sweet? The fact is that “Every person is born in his natural state, being a Muslim, but then his parents convert him to Judaism, Christianity or fire worship [or instill in him negative qualities]…” (Al-Bukhari 6599, Muslim 2658).

The qualities that are in children are what should be in every Muslim. The behavior of a child from birth to adulthood is an example of how we should behave. For example, a child needs parents very much. As soon as the mother takes a few steps away or leaves for a couple of seconds, the child immediately begins to cry and ask for her mother, and when she is around, everything is fine and nothing is scary. And if a child asks for something, a toy or food, then by the state of his helplessness and tears he lets his parents know – and immediately gets what he wants. nine0003

You ask, “What does this have to do with us adults?” The most direct. This is how we should behave before the Almighty. They need Him and are afraid that He will “turn away” from us and leave us even for a second. “My Lord! Do not leave me alone with my nafs (ego) even for the blink of an eye…” (Hakim). And the manifestation of helplessness before Allah is a manifestation of the need for Him and dependence only on Him. We not only lose this quality, but contribute to the disappearance of this property in a child. nine0003

The appearance of children is sweet and beautiful, one might even say perfect. Since in their hearts there is no greed, anger, selfishness and other qualities that over the years begin to manifest themselves in adults. The beauty of their heart is shown in their appearance. Remember, you probably met people who were unpleasant to be around, whose appearance is repulsive and you can understand what he is like – evil, cunning, skeptic, etc.? This is a manifestation of the heart on the outside, on the face.

If your child does not behave in the best way or shows cruelty and selfishness, do not immediately punish him. And understand yourself first. Remember the story from the life of one righteous and respected scientist, when his son began to make holes and spoil waterskins with water, he did not punish the child, but first of all asked his wife: “Remember what you could do, because of which our child is so behaves?”. The righteous man’s wife remembered, and the situation with her son was successfully corrected. “A correct upbringing given to a child is better than one sa’a (a unit of measurement equal to approximately 1040 dirhams) of alms.” nine0003

Our children are an example for us, and after coming of age, a copy of our behavior. And if something in the behavior of our children went wrong, it means that at the beginning of his life we didn’t instill something wrong in him, but he “peeped” on us for some not the best qualities.

“Be generous to children and bring them up in the best way” (at-Tirmidhi). Amen.
