Your toddlers, school-age children and teenagers can come together to DIY these projects — or they can easily complete them on their own, if they’d rather fly solo. Some double as Mother’s Day party decorations, while others make beautiful gifts that Mom will cherish for years to come. We’ve given you the guidelines, but feel free to personalize any of these craft ideas with family photos, custom messages or your mom’s signature colors. And if you really want to bring on the happy tears, go with one of the handprint crafts, so she can have an example of just how much her babies have grown. But don’t stop here: Pair any of these crafts with a homemade card to make her Mother’s Day the best one yet.

Paper Flowers

Turn pastel cupcake liners into long-lasting blooms. To make, fold the liners in half and make petal-like cuts. Fold a piece of floral wire in half and twist it around faux flower stamens, then poke the wire through the center of three to four paper liners. Wrap floral tape around the base of the liners and continue to wrap down the “stem” until you’re done!

Egg Carton Flowers

Assemble a bouquet of egg carton flowers that she can enjoy well beyond Mother’s Day. Our advice: Have the adults cut out the “flowers” first and let kids get creative with paint!

Follow these step-by-step instructions:

  1. Cut off the top of the egg carton and the extra flap on the other edge.
  2. Cut out the center columns from the carton by making small cuts with your X-Acto knife.
  3. Cut out what is left on the carton to use as egg cups.
  4. Using the center columns you cut out, clean up the edge of the opening with your scissors.
  5. Paint the columns both inside and out with some thinned out acrylic paint for a washed look.
  6. Using the egg cups, cut around the top of the cup to make it the same size all around or rip the top edge with your fingers to get a more rough look.
  7. Paint the cup with your thinned out acrylic paint for a flower look.
  8. For a petaled look, cut down the 4 corners of the cup and clean up using your scissors and rounding the tops of each petal before painting.
  9. Keep the stem in place by attaching floral wire to the middle. Use the wire cutters to hold them.

DIY gifts for Mother’s Day

A huge number of heartfelt gifts for mom, made by hand. Drawings, postcards, applications, pendants, bouquets, decorations that you can make for your beloved mother!

DIY gifts for Mother’s Day can be made even by the youngest members of the family, with a little help. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to create masterpiece works of art – even the simplest crafts, but made with soul, will melt the mother’s heart. nine0005

So, what to give mom for Mother’s Day? We bring to your attention a real gallery of interesting and simple gifts.

Every mother will be happy if she is presented with a bouquet of flowers. Let them be paper, but original and beautiful.

Children’s handprints. We cut out four palms for each flower, glue them in the center so that the fingers look in different directions. From below we glue a green strip – a stalk, petals and a flower pot or a vase cut out of colored paper. nine0003

Hand appliqué

Heart flowers with sweets. For one flower, you can use a different number of hearts of different colors. Flowers from three hearts look interesting, the middle of which has the shape of an ordinary flower. And if you make flowers from strong thick paper (cardboard), and attach a candy in a bright wrapper to the center of each, you get an unusual bouquet-treat.

Heart flowers with sweets

If stems are made from wire, such flowers can be placed in a vase. nine0003

DIY Mother’s Day gifts can be made from disposable spoons, glasses and tissue paper.

Cut out petals from paper.

Paper petals

Glue them on a disposable spoon, forming an image of a flower.

Flower on a spoon

Decorate the center of the flower with a pompom. Paint the spoon green. We insert the resulting flower into a disposable cup from the back. Coloring the glass.

Mother’s Day Craft from Waste Material

Flowers for Mom

Charming flowers are made from plastic cups and straws.

Cups and straws

Cut the edges of the cups and put them on the straws. We also cut the edge of the tube and straighten it – this will be an imitation of the stamens of a flower.

Cups on straws

Coloring the flower. You can fix the flower on the tube with adhesive tape. nine0003

Bright flower from a disposable cup

Flowers for mom

Felt flowers are easy to make and look spectacular. To create them you will need:

  • a few bright pieces of felt;
  • scissors;
  • glue or thread with needle;
  • bright cords or braid, buttons.

Cut out several templates from felt – colors of different sizes. We help the child to collect them by placing smaller flowers on larger blanks. We fasten the blanks with glue or a couple of stitches of thread. In the center we fix a button or a bow made of lace or braid. Stems can be made from barbecue sticks by wrapping them in green paper. nine0003

Craft flowers made of felt

Flowers made of fluffy wire look very elegant. They can be fixed in makeshift flower pots, which are well suited for the role of disposable paper cups.

Dry moss, small stones or glass balls, or sand can be placed inside the cup.

Hand-made flowers from fluffy wire

Of course, every mother will be pleased to receive a card with pleasant words and wishes as a gift. Such do-it-yourself crafts for a mother take on special significance if inside she discovers a real confession of children’s love. nine0003

The simplest postcard is made from a cardboard sheet folded in half. We decorate the front side with an application or a pattern, and write a wish inside. If the child does not yet know how to write, he can draw a heart or other symbolic image inside.

Postcard with finger prints

Postcard made from carved hand with flowers.

Postcard from a palm

A very beautiful and bright postcard is obtained if three-dimensional elements are used to decorate it. nine0003

This is how you can decorate a postcard with a voluminous balloon made of hearts. To do this, you will need three colored hearts, which we fold in half and glue on different sides, as in the photo.

Decorate the postcard with clouds and attach a basket with strings to the balloon.

You can make an original postcard in the shape of a heart pendant.

Postcard for the neck

The picture itself will be a good gift. You can give it a festive look by adding interesting elements – buttons, pompoms or beads. nine0003

Drawing and application “Heart”

You can draw a big cheerful flower with your hands.

Hand flower

And then cut it out and present it to your beloved mother on Mother’s Day.

Our gift

You can decorate an ordinary glass jar with drawings yourself, turning it into a real vase.

Vase as a gift for mom

DIY gift for mom

You can paint a glass jar in bright and delicate colors and decorate it with a bouquet of paper palms. nine0003

You can wrap a thick candle with beautiful paper or ribbon.

Candle, decorated with your own hands

You can also wrap a useful item – for example, cinnamon sticks. Such a gift looks very stylish and will come in handy in the kitchen.

DIY pendant

Little needlewomen can make a napkin bag. It is sewn from two semicircular pieces of felt, and for the handle we use a coarse cloth thread. Decoration – to taste. nine0003

DIY napkin bag

You can also decorate the pillow. To do this, just dip your palms into the paint and apply bright, juicy prints. Traces of children’s hands will always warm mother’s heart.

DIY gifts for Mother’s Day 4

Photo frames will also help to save memories. They can be made of colored cardboard, decorated with various little things, bright pompoms. Be sure to print and insert a beautiful photo inside – the gift will be doubly valuable. nine0003

Coloring the future heart frame

Heart frame

Cardboard photo frames.

Ice cream sticks make very simple but interesting photo frames.

Popsicle Stick Photo Frames

Other photo frames can be made. In them, the photo is fixed with a button.

DIY photo frame

Consider creating a whole photo story for your mom. For this, her and your childhood photos, photos from a wedding, from a graduation, in general, any images that will evoke fond memories from mom are suitable. nine0003

And of course, no woman can resist jewelry.
