Village Park Preschool

Village Park Preschool is a developmental preschool program offered by the City of Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department. We offer 5 programs: Lil’ Sprouts (2 years old), Cottage Kids (3 years old), Playschool Villagers (4 years old), and Afternoon Owls/Kinder Club (4 years old). The emphasis of the program is physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. Activities are designed to foster a healthy child that develops an early love of learning. Village Park Preschool programs strive to create an environment inspiring each child’s individual creativity and self-expression. Children participate in arts/crafts, music, body movement, basic science, cognitive games, creative/dramatic play, cooking, circle and story time, fine and gross motor skill building, and phonics awareness. 


Spring 2023 Registration Information:

Current students will have priority to register for the Spring 2023 semester.   Very limited spaces in some classes are still available to both residents and non-residents – contact the Recreation Center to inquire about enrolling in the program or getting added to the waiting list for full classes: 650-558-7300 or email [email protected].

Fall 2023 Registration Information:

Registration for Village Park Preschool will be based on a lottery system for the 2023-2024 school year. The lottery will take place virtually on Wednesday, February 15 at 6:00pm via Zoom Video Conferencing.  You must pre-register for the lottery.  Click here to complete the pre-registration form.

Read carefully for the lottery procedures:

1. You must be a Burlingame resident to participate in the lottery and you need to submit your required paperwork in advance during the Paperwork Submittal Hours listed below, including:  
• Proof of residency (your most recent residential phone or PG&E bill with parent’s name listed)
• Your child’s birth certificate (original + 1 copy for us to keep)
• Parent’s photo ID
• Payment information (debit/credit card or check)
• Village Park Preschool Paperwork (to be provided)

On the pre-registration form, please select an appointment time to complete your paperwork (plan for 15-20 minutes).
• Wednesday, February 8, 4:30-6:00pm
• Tuesday, February 14, 12:45-2:15pm

You may not participate in the lottery if you do not submit the above items during one of the Paperwork Submittal times. No exceptions will be made. (No mortgage payments or lease agreements will be allowed as proof of residency). Grandparents addresses do not qualify as residency.

2. Those who pre-register and submit their paperwork in advance will be emailed a link to Zoom for the lottery. Non-residents and those who did not complete pre-registration and paperwork submittal will be served on a first come-first served basis Thursday, February 16th, by calling 650-558-7300.

3. When the lottery begins, names will be drawn at random. Registrations will be taken in the order that the names are called. Only one name per family will be included and you may register your child(ren) when your name is called, pending space available.

4. All fees are due at the time of registration. A $125 fee will be charged for any registration transfers, refunds, credits, etc. for all preschool registrations. A pro-rated refund will only be issued if a replacement student can be found. If a pro-rated refund is issued, the $125 fee will still be assessed. No exceptions to this policy. Any discrepancies in residency discovered after registration will result in the child(ren) being removed from the program without a refund.

5. Please note, currently enrolled students and siblings have priority to register, some classes may already be full. Please email [email protected] after February 7th for availability.

Lil’ Sprouts (age 2 by 9/1/23, born between 9/2/20 & 9/1/21)
The Lil’ Sprouts program provides the opportunity for your 2 year olds to play and interact with other children their age in a safe, stimulating and relaxed environment. Age appropriate activities will be provided in arts, crafts, music, cooking, story time and outdoor play.  We help your child to socialize with others in a polite and respectful way, to prepare our Lil’ Sprouts for our Cottage Kids program. Children need not be potty trained; however, extra clothing and diapers should be brought to class. Proof of birth date is required at registration.  Class size is limited to 14 children. Come let your sprouts grow with us at The Village!

This recreational program helps to give your 3 year old the opportunity to cultivate their physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. To prepare them for the next level, we expose your children to arts/crafts, story-telling, music, movement, listening skills, science, sensory, and outdoor activities. Village Park Preschool programs strive to create an environment inspiring each child’s individual creativity and self-expression.  Students must be toilet trained. Proof of birth date is required.

This program helps prepare your Pre-Kindergartner for “real school” in a child-centered environment. In Villagers, we provide a well-rounded learning experience through arts/crafts, music, body movement, basic science, pre-math, creative/dramatic play, cooking, circle and story time, fine and gross motor skill building, and phonics awareness. Children also expand their social skills by learning to be considerate of others, to follow directions, to listen, and to cooperate. Village Park Preschool programs strive to create an environment inspiring each child’s individual creativity and self-expression. We expose your child to new experiences through our field trips to places in our community. Students must be toilet trained. Proof of birth date is required at registration.

This hands-on learning program will help make your child’s transition into kindergarten or T-K a huge success. Your child will experience activities that will build on letter and numeral recognition, pre-writing skills, social, and cognitive skills through a variety of activities. Activities may include arts/crafts, music, science, pre-math, dramatic play, cooking, circle and story time, fine and gross motor skill building, and phonics awareness. In addition to your current preschool classes, Afternoon Owls will provide another learning environment where your child can acquire new skills in a small group setting. Students must be toilet trained.

A Child’s Way

A Child’s Way provides quality childcare on site at McKinley Elementary School in the Burlingame Terrace neighborhood. Learning Links Preschool

Located near Ray Park, Learning Links Preschool creates a nurturing and supportive community of children, parents and highly skilled staff in order to provide the highest quality child care. Preschool classes for students ages 3–5 are in session three hours a day, four days a week. Lesson plans are designed to engage students of all abilities in each activity, and developmentally appropriate, language- rich play helps develop a desire to learn within each student. Classes are small, with a staff to student ratio of 1:5 (2 -3 year olds) or 1:6 (3-5 year olds.)

The Nueva School

The Nueva School in Hillsborough was founded in 1967 as an independent coed day school for gifted children where the focus is on play as the primary learning vehicle for young children. Children are encouraged to develop confidence and creativity, and they are given the opportunity to actively participate in their own educations.

In the pre-K program, students engage in various forms of play, using dress-up, sand, clay, blocks and other materials. Children develop gross motor skills as they navigate daily outdoor and indoor activities. Our Lady of Angels Catholic Parish

OLA is located right in the heart of the Easton Addition neighborhood on Hillside Drive. Peninsula Temple Sholom

Peninsula Temple Sholom Preschool provides a developmentally appropriate environment where children are encouraged to explore and develop their curiosity through play and challenging experiences. Stepping Stone Pre-School

Located in an old house in the Burlingame Terrace neighborhood, Stepping Stone Pre-School is full of kid-friendly activities. The school offers half-day and full-day programs for children between the ages of two and five. Children receive nap time to ensure that they remain alert and well rested for the rest of the day. High Five Preschool

United Methodist Church Co-op Nursery School

UMC is a parent-directed, cooperative nursery school for children 18 months to 5 years of age. Parents play an active role in all aspects of school administration, maintenance, and growth. First Presbyterian Church Nursery School

First Presbyterian Church Nursery School provides a program for children ages two through 5 that offers the highest caliber of developmentally appropriate pre-school education and is consistent with the Christian teachings of the church. Parent participation is vital and parents are required to participate in and observe the nursery school class about 7 times a year in the programs for 3 and 4 year olds and every three weeks in the 2 year old class.
