    Pet Sitting Rates Per Day

Pet sitting rates are about $20 per day on average. Of course, there are always variables that affect that price such as if you need a pet taxi to pick up and drop off your animal. The price applies to one dog, cat, or bird and the price will go up by $10 for each additional pet.

    Overnight Pet Sitting Rates

If you want your pet sitter to provide overnight care in your home, it will cost from $40 to $75 per night. There are a lot of benefits to this arrangement, such as:

    • You keep your home occupied.
    • Your pets are kept company throughout the night.
    • You have someone on hand in case of an emergency, such as a pet who gets sick.

    Pet Sitting Rates Per Week

For a five-day week, you can expect to pay $250–$375 for pet sitting a pet with no special needs, which includes house sitting if the pet sitting includes overnight stays. (Additional pets would cost more.)

What Does a Pet Sitter Do?

A pet sitter is your pet’s substitute caregiver. When you have to be away, and you want your pets to be taken care of in a loving manner, perhaps even in their own home, you will hire a pet sitter. Instead of staying with your pet full time, the pet sitter may drop in a few times a day to feed, water, and let the pet outside to do its business.

The most common pet sitting services are:

    • Provide company for your pet(s), even taking them outside to play.
    • Feed and give the pet fresh water.
    • Take the dog for a walk outside for exercise.
    • Clean litter boxes and clean up any other pet mess that may occur.
    • Depending on their qualifications, they can administer medications.
    • Take your pet to their vet appointments.
    • Pet sitters are often willing to bring in mail, put out the trash bins, and water plants.

    House Sitting Rates with Pets

A house sitter who also takes care of your pets costs from $30 to $65 a day. Sometimes it might be more economical for you to hire a pet sitter as a combination pet sitter/house sitter. They would stay at your home with your pet every day and night until you return.

With a house sitter, they can check the mail, and water the grass and the houseplants. They will be a visible presence in your home, which may help prevent a break-in, and they might do a little light housework, ensuring you come home to a clean house.

    • Dog Sitting – A dog sitter who stays in your home will cost $30–$65 a day.
    • Cat Sitting – A cat sitter who stays in your home will cost $30–$65 a day.
    • Bird Sitting – Birds are generally boarded, rather than have a person spend the night in their home. Depending on the size of your bird, the cost for boarding can range from $12–$18 per day.

    Pet Sitting Price Factors

Many things affect the price you’ll pay for pet sitting such as if you are located in California or Texas. The base price can easily double if you have several pets, or if they are sick or elderly. It may also cost more if they are very young and still learning where to use the bathroom.

    Type of Pet

Smaller pets who can amuse themselves and don’t need to be walked can be cheaper to pet sit than an active dog who requires 2–3 walks a day. Puppies can cost an additional $5 per visit.

    In-Home/Location

Your zip code will have a lot to do with the cost of pet sitting, no matter what kind of pet you have or how many of them there are. Urban areas usually cost more than rural areas. For example, dog sitting rates in Charlotte, North Carolina, are about $15 per hour, while dog sitting rates in NYC, New York, are approx. $21 per hour.

    24-Hour Care

Some pet sitters can house sit, pet sit, and still go to their jobs every day, so know in advance how present you want your pet sitter to be. They can remain on-site mostly 24/7, leaving your pet alone for no more than a few hours. Be prepared to pay more for this.

    Medical Care

Pet sitters can often administer medication—both oral and injection –which costs about $5–$15, depending on the type of medication and how it’s administered. An injection will cost more than a pill. If your pet needs hourly medical attention, it can cost you about $200/day for that 24/7 level of care.

Do you want your pet to be bathed or groomed? Add $75.

    Additional Pets

You can pay from $7–$10 per additional pet, in addition to the base rate of $40–$75 per night. If all your pets are dogs, for instance, you might get a lower price than if you have two dogs, a cat, and three birds.

    Holidays

Expect to pay extra on holidays, as pet sitters are giving up their holiday tradition to care for your pet. Most pet sitters charge an additional $5 on holidays.

How to Choose a Pet Sitter

    • Be sure the pet sitter is a professional. Ask if they belong to professional organizations such as NAPPS (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters), Professional United Pet Sitters (P.U.P.S.) or Association of Pet Sitting Excellence.
    • Choose one that has a business license and is insured and bonded.
    • Check the references you receive from the pet sitter or from your friends.
    • Ask if they are trained in pet CPR and first aid.
    • Arrange a meet and greet between your pet and the prospective pet sitter. They should get along. If your pet has to be coaxed to warm up to the pet sitter, choose someone else.
    • They should present professional items such as contracts, payment arrangements, cancellation policies, and their plan during bad weather for taking your dog outside.
    • If they are also acting as a house sitter, what are they willing to do around your house? Make sure everything is spelled out, so you both have the same understanding.
    • Be sure you feel good about your choice. If you have any hesitation at all, choose someone else. This person is going to be in your home and taking care of your fur baby. You need to have confidence in them.

How Much Do You Tip A Pet Sitter?

The proper tip is about 15%–20% of the bill, or about $15 per night. The correct amount depends on how long they stayed in your home, and if they went above and beyond what they agreed to do.

If they did everything they agreed to do, tip on the lower end just as an act of appreciation. If they cleaned your kitchen and mowed your lawn, you might give them more. If your pet had an emergency and they rushed them to the emergency vet and stayed all night at the vet, you’d probably better consider the higher end of the spectrum and keep their number to use them again.

how to leave a dog or cat on vacation

Animal care services at home are an alternative to pet hotels.

    Polina Kalmykova

studied the questionnaires of the cat

    Author profile

During the holidays, a dog or cat sitter takes home a dog or a cat – a specially trained person who feeds the pet, takes it for a walk and sends the photos to the owners. And if the animal does not tolerate moving well, you can arrange for the sitter to live right with him, at the owners’ house.

Here are 7 services to help you find a trusted pet sitter.

    DOGSI

In which cities it works: throughout Russia
How much it costs: by agreement with Sitter
Which animals will take: dogs and cats
    Site: Dogsy.ru

Conditions. “Dogsy” is an aggregator of dog and cat sitters: that is, people who are professionally engaged in overexposure of pets. Some take animals to their apartments one at a time, while others organize small shelters in which they look after several pets at once. Usually, where and how the pet will live is written in the questionnaire.

The cost of overexposure includes accommodation of the pet on the territory of the sitter and walking. You need to pay for food separately or bring your own, as well as everything you need for walking – from a collar to bags in which the sitter will collect the animal’s excrement. Usually the cost depends on the experience of the sitter and the size of the pet: the larger the dog and the more reviews the sitter has, the higher the price.

    /eurodog/

How to take a dog on a road trip in Europe

Only vaccinated animals can be transferred to a sitter. If the pet gets sick, the sitter will be able to consult with a veterinarian at Yandex Health for free: Dogsy pays for this service. Owners will have to pay for face-to-face consultations if the animal gets sick through no fault of the sitter: the Dogsy support service will help arrange a visit to the veterinary clinic while the owners are on vacation.

But you won’t have to answer for property that damages the animal during overexposure: according to the terms of the service, the responsibility for this lies with the sitter.

In the sitter’s questionnaire, you can see not only prices, but also how the pet’s housing will look like during the stay and how many people brought animals to the sitter for the second time : from 699 R per day
Which animals will be taken: dogs
    Website: dog-walk. ru

Conditions. In The Revelous Dog, it is not the owner who chooses the sitter, but the other way around: the owner fills out a large questionnaire about the pet, informs the dates for which overexposure is needed, and then waits for free performers to respond to the offer.

Owners may ask the sitter to arrive early and meet the dog. Every day, the sitter sends hosts photos, videos, and stories about how the day went. Overexposure costs from 699 to 1399 R per day – depending on how many walks a dog needs per day. If there are a lot of animals, this is not a problem: for each additional dog, the sitter will take another 400 R per day. All sitters must undergo training and practice walking dogs with mentors: only after that they can respond to orders.

The owners are not responsible for damage to the property of the sitter, and insurance will help cover the costs of the veterinarian if it is suddenly needed – it is designed for all unforeseen situations, except for chronic diseases of the animal and piroplasmosis from a tick bite.

To find a sitter, the owner needs to fill out a questionnaire with all the details about the pet: what he is afraid of, what he likes to do, whether he is aggressive R per day
What animals will be taken: cats
    Website: dog-walk.ru/catsitting

Conditions. “Tsap-scratch” – the project “Dogs-revelers”, but for cat owners. The principle of operation is the same: the owners leave an application on the site, and the sitters choose the order they like.

Looking after cats is different from keeping dogs: the sitter may not take the cat home, but live with her in familiar conditions. And if the cat is independent, you can arrange for the sitter to visit him once a day: feed him, clean the tray and take pictures for the owners.

    /discuss/looking-for-feed/

Which pet food should I choose?

The number of cats does not matter, the cost of overexposure is fixed: 399 R per visit for 15 minutes, 599 R – if you need to spend at least an hour with animals, 699 R per day if the sitter spends at least 12 hours with them.

If the cat is having a hard time being alone, you can ask the sitter not to leave him unattended at all

    Guldog

What cities does he work in: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan
    : dogs
    Site: guldog.ru

Conditions. Managers help to find a suitable sitter: the owner leaves an application, and the service employee negotiates with a free specialist. After that, the sitter comes to get acquainted with the pet – and if the owner is satisfied with the candidate, they shake hands.

The service will take the dog home to the sitter and insure the animal against accidents: this is already included in the price. The owners pay only for the food to which the pet is accustomed, and the overexposure itself. Each sitter has a walker’s belt, a leash and even a first aid kit – so as not to waste time and quickly provide assistance if something happens.

All sitters are trained before joining the Guldog team: the course includes classes in animal psychology and practice under the guidance of a dog handler. If there are a lot of animals, the sitter will take a second dog for an extra charge, and look after two or three cats for free.

The cost of overexposure depends on the number of walks and the period for which the owner leaves the pet: the longer, the cheaper

    Murchalkin

In which cities it works: Moscow, St. Petersburg
How much cost: from 360 r
    Which animals will take: cats
    Site: murchalkin.ru

Conditions. This is the Guldog project, but for the overexposure of cats. The manager proposes a candidate at the request of the owner, but you need to pay for the order only after meeting the sitter: if the cat does not want to contact the future “nanny”, the service staff will select another specialist for free.

On the appointed date, “Murchalkin” will help organize the transportation of the animal: if the owners cannot take the pet, the sitter will pick it up in his own transport or take him to a zootaxi. Each sitter has everything a pet needs for life, except for food, but the service staff advises sending the cat for overexposure along with the usual bed and tray so that he feels at home.

    /kot-airplane/

How to transport animals on a plane

    – 530 R, and full overexposure – 590 R per day.

The cost of services includes a photo and video report, you can even organize a video call to see how your pet is doing live.

The conditions are the same as in Guldog: discounts on overexposure start from 8 days the cat stays with the sitter

    Walk Vilyai

In which cities does it work: Moscow, Kazan
How much it costs: from 600 R per day What animals will be taken: dogs and cats
    Website: walkwag.ru

Conditions. In “Walk-Wag” the conditions of overexposure for dogs and cats are the same: the price depends only on the number of walks. Therefore, leaving a small Yorkie who goes to the toilet for a diaper costs the same as a domestic cat.

During the stay, the sitter can take the pet to himself, or he can stay with the owners – if something breaks in the apartment due to the fault of the sitter, the service will compensate for the losses.

On walks, the sitter uses special equipment: a walking belt, a safety collar and a strong leash. All walkers are trained and know how to take something from a pet’s mouth, help him cope with stress and what to do if a pack of stray dogs gets in the way, and the animals are also insured in case of emergencies.

Every day, the sitters report to the owners: they send photos and show the walking route, which is tracked by a special application.

On the site you can get acquainted with the profiles of the sitters, but you won’t be able to contact them directly: for each order, the sitters are selected by managers
What animals will be taken: cats
    Website: kotocafe. ru/petmama

Terms. Cat Nanny is a non-commercial project from the creators of the cat cafe Cats and People. The service offers two services. You can ask the sitter to come once a day: change the tray, fill the bowl, if necessary, play, give pills and give injections. And you can give the cat for a full overexposure. The cost of services is the same, but there are few sitters in the company, so there may simply not be free specialists who will take the cat to their home.

The cost of looking after a cat includes photo and video reports, pet insurance for up to 5,000 R, as well as watering flowers and caring for other small animals, such as fish or a hamster. The base price includes looking after five cats, and for each next one you will need to pay an additional 50 R. For an additional fee, you can install a video camera from Cotonyanya in the house and watch the pet around the clock.

_A new profession has appeared in the modern city – a nanny for animals. Zoonyan unite thematic resources, and any owner can choose a nurse for his watchdog. The correspondent of the Vslukh.ru online newspaper talked to people who joined the dog-sitting movement and found out how they get along with a bunch of different animals, how they cope with dog troubles and why animals are better than people._

Valentina Yurlova, 20 years old, student, engineer in a road company
    ================================== ==============================

Since childhood, little animals lived in my family — they were brought by my mother. Once a parrot flew to her work, she brought it home. We had a cat for a long time. And I always dreamed of a dog, but for everyone in my family it was “too” – too hard, too responsible. “When you grow up and get a dog,” they told me. I grew up and saw an ad that you can become a dog sitter and babysit dogs. I hope that this hobby will help me in the future to make the right choice regarding my own dog. And now I don’t have my own animals.

I live in a three-room apartment with my mother and boyfriend. The three of us take care of the dogs: if you need to take them for a walk, but I can’t, then my mother will calmly come out. We have a spacious corridor. If an animal at home is allowed to enter the room, jump on the sofa and sleep on the bed, then we allow it too.

I have been dogsitting since April. At least six dogs have already visited me. There were repeated orders: one dog stayed five times!

The owners trust me, because after the end of the overexposure the dog is cheerful and cheerful. The owners themselves say that their pets are not sad – “finally they took me away”, but cheerful – “hooray, the owner is also here.”

I try not to take more than two dogs at a time. Because it’s too responsible, I’m afraid not to follow. I am ready to take care of cats, but so far they have never been left. Ready to sit with any animal, even with a ferret and a turtle.

My duties include receiving the animal, feeding it, making sure there is always water. If the owners brought their brushes, then we must comb the dog so that it is comfortable. And, of course, play! These are animals, they cannot just lie and wait for the owner. You have to deal with them. The owners provide food or natural food that their dog is accustomed to.

The first time I was very worried. The owner experienced the same feelings, because for the first time she left her pet. It was a mongrel dog, he was brought for five days. I asked the hosts, probably, about everything, and every two hours I wrote: “We are fine, we played.” And when she uploaded a video of him playing with his tail, the hostess replied: “He fell in love with you, he doesn’t do it in front of everyone. ” More treats, games – and the dog will reach out to you.

I remember all my pets and their toys. For someone it is just a wooden stick, for someone it is a completely gnawed favorite ball, a plush cat, although without a head, but very beloved.

My preferences do not depend on the size of the dog and the breed. I love everyone. But with large breeds it is a little more difficult. I had a Stafford and a Bull Terrier visiting me. They are large, fighting dogs, I am not afraid of them. They are absolutely kind and if they grab a hand in a game, they don’t do it on purpose.

I was lucky, but I didn’t have any troubles with dogs. Nobody chewed on slippers. Of course, they warn me that the dog can do this out of boredom, then we hide the shoes. There were troubles with a diaper, on which dogs of small breeds go to the toilet. I made a bed in one place, and he “does” his business in another place. Okay, I’ll lay where you need.

Childcare is a great opportunity for me to spend time with my dog. I love them, they are the best animals. And I also want to help the owners so that they do not worry. It is better to give your dog to a person who will send photos, call, talk about the state of the pet, than to take him to a zoo hotel. They are looked after there, but the animals are in cages.

When I started dogsitting, I didn’t expect people to have such a strong need to leave their dog with a nanny. The peak of orders came in May and June. The most pleasant thing in this job is to see how the dog is happy with me when I come home from work, he is happy as his owner! Carries a toy or leash. And you understand: you, albeit temporary, but its owner.

Ruslan Khalimov, 26 years old, fitness trainer

As a child, I remember only one dog – Dozora, who was sitting on a chain in my grandmother’s yard. Then he ran away. There were no other pets: only a cat that lived for three months and fell out of the window. She was small, she scratched the mosquito net, climbed out onto the ledge and could not resist. Mom found her and buried her. Since then, the family refused to have animals.

Love for dogs woke up when I met my future wife. She has loved dogs for a long time. When we got together, she worked on me for a year: she sent cool videos where they are teased this way and that, where they jump and run. It’s funny when puppies try to crawl up the ladder. Persuaded! For a year we saved up money and got our Rocky, a Corgi dog. He came to us by train from Kirov.

Rocky has a solid pedigree, but we don’t want to take him to shows. There is an idea to do agility – overcoming a track with obstacles. Rocky is like a little shepherd dog, he is a good runner, active, does not like to sit for a long time. In addition, he quickly grasps and understands what is needed from him. He knows how to sit, lie down, give voice, make a “bunny”, sitting on his hind legs.

I came across advertisements for dogtissition while poking around on the Internet. I was looking for an interesting part-time job – this was the first reason why I became a zoo nanny.

The second is that our Rocky needs company, he just loves it. When we go on business or do housework, the dog is bored. And when there is a friend nearby, it’s a completely different matter.

So far, only two have been taken for overexposure – a half-spitz and another corgi. We try to meet on neutral territory so that the dogs “sniff”, because they will have to live nearby. Our Rocky will make friends with anyone, but you cannot guess the behavior of others in advance. Aggressive options immediately disappear.

Our first pet was Zeus, a half-spitz with an extended jaw, he lived with us for a whole month. His mother came to his owner with an allergy to dogs. None of the relatives of Zeus wanted to take it, they had to attach it for money. He got used to it for a long time, did not want to communicate with Rocky, he even had to install a partition for his privacy. He thawed only towards the end of the term, he began to show character. And when the hostess came, he instantly forgot about us.

The second one was Becky – this is also a corgi, only younger. We call her sister. So she didn’t let us down. In general, Rocky and Becky made an organized criminal group with us, a girlfriend incited our guy to various pranks. For example, they did a great job tearing up the wallpaper in our hallway and tore off the plinth.

I treat other dogs the same as my own. The main thing is kindness. There was no such thing as “strange dog, I’m cold to you.” He is the same cute eared lump, which is great to play and walk with.

Roll on sofas, please. We allow everything. The main thing is not to spoil the corners. And let him sleep with us, it’s only a joy. Hosts can be calm: we communicate with them via viber or whatsapp, provide videos and photos of walks.

We had an unpleasant story with Becky: the dog ate something on the street and got poisoned. Fortunately, the veterinarian was nearby, they asked for help at night, did an analysis, bought her dietary food, looked after . .. Becky was very small – 3.5 months, there could be no talk of any training.

I like all dogs. But I won’t take the fighter’s apartment to the apartment. If we lived in a private house, then please. Stafford lives with our friends – this is such a colossus that it will not be difficult for it to jump on the refrigerator. If such a dog is left with ours, they will arrange a rout.

    ===================================== ========

For as long as I can remember, I have had animals, and always a cat and a dog. Now I have grown up, got married, and again we have two – a cat and a dog. Both were adopted from a shelter six months ago.

Have you heard of the Spitz concentration camp? So here is our Budd from there. First, he came to us for a three-day overexposure, which dragged on for three months. And then, when those who wanted to take it away appeared, we decided not to give it back. In addition, they also took a cat named Pele. Someone threw him out as useless due to health problems. He was found on the street by a security guard of the Tyumen shopping center, the cat fell out of the gut. The guard decided to put him out of his misery by choosing rubber bullets.

We have been doing dog sitting for a little less than a year. Quite by accident, I found the site, registered and started helping people. During this time, I took five animals for overexposure. In general, the key must be selected for everyone. All of them are special, with their own habits. We became friends with them, and there were almost no problems. Except, perhaps, the first days when the animal is stressed.

First we took the poodle Axel, he stayed with me for five days. The dog was strongly attached to the house. Both the dog and the owner were both very upset by the separation. On the first day, Axel didn’t eat or drink…

The secret of the successful adaptation of the animal is affection, treats with the permission of the owner, a toy and a bed from home. I get attached to every dog. But I give them away without a fight, I understand that I don’t have them forever.

All my dogsitting is for love! It is impossible to get acquainted with all breeds of dogs, but you want to know more about them. Now a pit bull is visiting my house. The breed is interesting, with a special psychology. They are very kind, playful, love people. Here he saw me for the first time, and already such love woke up: he lets me scratch my belly and behind my ears. At first, the dog seemed to me formidable and big, but now he is a cute toy puppy for me.

Of course there are problems, not without it. There are mistakes with the toilet, and males love to mark their territory… But I consciously do dog-sitting and I understand what I need to prepare for. Problems don’t bother me. Wallpaper damage is not an issue at all.

I am glad that guest dogs do not react to my little dog in any way. Interest lasts a maximum of five minutes: “What is this small washcloth walking around here?” And then everything. With a cat – exactly the same.

Unusual animals were not offered for overexposure. I would take it, of course. I would like to babysit rabbits, chinchillas. All children in childhood had rabbits and guinea pigs, and I was deprived of this. And I want to try and see what it is.

Animals are an everyday pleasure. And when they meet you, and when they jump on your bed, when they call you for a morning walk, when they flirt and let you scratch your belly. I don’t know what happiness is connected with, at what level it happens. But this is the best it can be.
