If you have a special needs child they will not welcome you at all and refuse to refund you money. Apparently all special needs children aren’t welcomed by Gods chosen ones since the pastor himself calls them uncontrollable and just gives up on the kids…

Children begin to transition from high chairs to sitting at a table for meals and snacks and are given ample opportunity for exploration.
We recognize that children at this age may be at very different stages of development. Some may have just started walking, while others are already exploring the many other facets of their emerging development. Our teachers create fun and rewarding activities that address each child’s developmental needs. Our toddlers also enjoy learning about letters, sounds, and animals with Zoo-Phonics.

Routines begin to take a definite form and children are mastering important skills that will enable them to be independent. Some of the daily activities include:

4-year-old Kindergarten
MVCA’s Preschool 4-year old kindergarten is for children who have turned four years old by September 1st of the school year. The goal of the 4K program is to open up a whole new world of learning for our students. We provide a safe, caring environment where children can discover, explore and learn about themselves, others, and God. It is a blended program of Christ-centered academics and social development presented in a playful creative manner which focuses on kindergarten readiness. Teachers will build on established routines and knowledge to make sure children are prepared to begin school when leaving the program. Activities are presented to foster logical thinking, reasoning, problem solving, and decision making. The 4K program uses Abeka curriculum.

Life in Cupertino.
Illustrated story / Habr
I work for a company that is engaged in offshore projects and is looking for those who are ready to go as a contractor to the states. I must say right away that the fate of a contractor is not at all sweet, and many at the first opportunity come back, or get a job full time. And some are sent back because the project suddenly stopped needing contractors. I will try to briefly share my most vivid impressions of life in the valley. There will be no technical details, because, unfortunately, they are not interesting. I have not yet found the project of my dreams and have not come up with it.
Cupertino
Why Silicon Valley
Microprocessors and other computer chips were developed here, which are just a silicon crystal – metal is deposited on a silicon substrate and a multilayer semiconductor circuit is obtained. The Intel Free Museum has an interesting story about this.
Corporate qualities
Important corporate qualities here are proactivity and self-presentation.
Proactivity is when a person does not sit and wait for instructions, but solves his own and not only his own problems, communicates with colleagues, finds out how to cope with certain difficulties and himself offers new solutions even where he was not asked .
And self-presentation includes not only the ability to talk about your current work and achievements, but also to share knowledge, make presentations for colleagues, write sensible letters and be very polite with everyone.
As Albina Yitzchoki from Netflix said, you have to give 150%
Girls
Some people leave because they can’t find a partner, some find them, some come with their wives or husbands. I have quite a few female colleagues. The wives of programmers, if they do not work in IT themselves, usually start by learning English, and then find a job. Some are at home with their children. It happens on the contrary that the wife gets a job in IT, and the husband travels with her on a spouse visa.
Children
Kindergartens here are paid, primary school is free, and then everything is paid again. I heard that student loans take decades to pay off.
Car
(The headline is pronounced in Yakubovich’s voice.) Life here is not very good without a car. Even the store is hard to get to, let alone travel. Uber is noticeably more expensive than in Russia, you can get from SFO airport to Cupertino for $100, and from San Jose for $50. A lot of Tesla drives around the roads. Some of my colleagues learned to drive here, it is believed that it is easier. I still don’t drive, I’m waiting for self-driving cars to appear (just kidding). The corporate apartment that I was rented for the first time is an hour’s drive from work. If you get into a morning or evening traffic jam, the road can take an hour and a half. For cars with more than one person (carpool), there is a dedicated lane.
Housing for rent
Housing is rented unfurnished. I not only bought a table, but also a second table, chairs, a bed and dishes. And when my visa expires, it will be necessary to somehow get rid of all this in order to free the room. Well, at least there is light, many have to buy floor lamps and it’s still dark. I pay 2 tons per month for housing. The agreement is concluded for at least a year, or for six months, if you’re lucky. You do not need to go to a notary, just sign a piece of paper.
The houses here are mostly two-storey unless you rent an apartment. Made of thick chipboard boards and covered with a thick layer of plaster. Inside the air conditioner, it is also a heater in winter. The audibility is very good, you can hear the neighbors sneezing, calling each other by name, shouting at Google and at the dog, breathing on the simulator. A Chinese couple lives behind my fence, they play the violin, keep geese and chickens. Someone else behind the fence is playing a drum set.
Many of my colleagues rent apartments in special complexes, there is a swimming pool, gym, yoga room, barbecue area and other amenities. Some apartments do not have washing machines, they are in the common area for a fee. My landlord installed a washing machine, a dryer, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, a non-working TV and even a jacuzzi.

English
My English is pretty average, locals don’t understand me well, and I understand them even worse. The social circle is mostly Russian-speaking and this is wrong, don’t do it. Russian speech is often heard around. There are Russian-speaking groups on Facebook where you can get good advice about life here.
Health insurance
My insurance company is called Blue Cross. We were offered two types of insurance: cheaper (HMO) and more expensive (PPO). The principle of copayment is widespread: the patient pays $10 for a visit to the doctor, and the rest is paid by the insurance company.
Separate company insures dentistry and separate eye care services.
I have never taken advantage of the insurance, although I once had a case. I somehow twisted my leg powerfully, running around the lake and not noticing the squirrel hole. He was limping for a month, and in the first week he could not walk at all. But I didn’t go to a neighboring city for an appointment, I just used an elastic bandage that a colleague bought for me.
Insurance for me and my wife is partly paid by the employer, and partly by myself from my salary. Now $400 is taken from my salary every month, before it was $166 for me alone and on a cheaper plan.
Technologies
Bank checks are still in use here, which must be signed like in films. Mobile communication is expensive, I paid $50 for one number, now I pay almost $90 for two. On highways between cities, the phone does not always catch.
Waste management
Separate waste collection is developed here. Most plastic from cafes and corporate canteens is biodegradable. Moreover, it is truly biodegradable, and not like bags from “green” stores in Russia, which break down into microplastics and can ruin the batch collected for processing. Biodegradable spoons, forks, and plates can be tossed into compost bins along with leaves, food scraps, and other organic matter. All clean (washed) plastic, glass, tin and paper are thrown into another container for recycling. It doesn’t need to be divided into factions. (I heard that this is also the case in Moscow now.) And everything else is thrown into the third container, which then goes to the trash.
When buying a drink in a plastic bottle, a tax of 10 cents is charged, then you can somehow return it if you return this bottle, but I have never done this and I don’t know how. There is also a tax on the disposal of mattresses, which is usually added to their cost. There are containers for clean clothes and shoes on the streets.
There are special bags for dogs in the parks, and their owners regularly use these bags.
upd: Here in this video they say (in English) that everything is not as good with biodegradable plastic as we would like: https://youtu.be/AKJSIl63DJw
Climate
I like the climate here most of all, although it may be a bit hot for some. A taxi driver once jokingly explained the high prices here as a tax on the sun. Here you can run almost all year round. And just now I was sitting in the backyard in shorts and a shirt and admiring the red Mars and the bright Jupiter. During the day in my room it happens to be 80-90 F (Fahrenheit), which is 26-32 C, and sometimes 69 F, which is 20 C.
Unfortunately, every year forests and nearby houses burn here. This year, I received an evacuation message on my phone (from the nearby city of San Mateo). And last year, due to forest fires, the electricity was cut off for one day in the canteen at work.
In a month and a half, the rainy season will begin, and all the scorched grass will turn green again. It will be beautiful. I did not see snow in the valley.
San Francisco tends to be cooler than the valley, and there is a chilly breeze on the bayfront.
Palm trees grow here, but I think they are all planted. And endemics are various sequoias, redwoods, oaks, birches and other coniferous and deciduous trees. There are bears, earth squirrels, mountain lions, deer, hummingbirds, sparrows, pigeons (in much smaller numbers than in Moscow), fur seals, elephant seals, lions, gulls, otters.

Travel
California has an incredible number of beautiful places that you should visit at least once in your life. Unfortunately, many of them are difficult to get to without a car. But, fortunately, I have many Russian-speaking colleagues, with whom we saw a lot of interesting things. My favorites are Yosemite, Point Lobos and Big Sur, San Diego and Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
What I dislike the most is the sheer number of homeless people on the streets of Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose. They often live in tents, for example, under bridges or in downtown. Obviously, it’s not their fault.
You can take a surf lesson in Santa Cruz, which is quite fun. In Monterey, you can watch whales from a boat, it’s also interesting, but it’s very seasick.

Contractors
Contractors are such second class people. We are not allowed to corporate events, to the gym, we are not entitled to a corporate discount and something else.
We have a different attitude, because we are temporary people who will leave for another project in six months or a year, and there will be some other contractors instead of us, so there is no point in building long-term relationships with us.
You can lose a project at any time, including for reasons beyond the developer’s control. Such a developer is either transferred back to Russia, or they try to find him another project here, if the visa still allows. My stay here was almost reduced by one and a half times in this way. With a fright, I began to answer everyone in a row in LinkedIn and even passed an interview at an Indian competitor company for a higher salary. After that, they swore to me not to send me back ahead of time, and I stayed.
“Mentality”
Here it is customary to be very polite and decent with people. Here, for example, is such a story.
On my first day of vacation, they decided to interview me for another project. At this time, we were driving to the hotel by car and did not have time to start the interview. In a completely agitated state, I galloped up to the hotel employee. In broken English, I tried to explain that I had an interview and I urgently needed Wi-Fi. But he was not at all interested in my problems, he had a procedure, a questionnaire, signatures and other things.
I behaved in a completely unrestrained way, which inexpressibly offended the hotel employee. He said that he would not tolerate such an attitude and I did not receive any Wi-Fi, as well as a place in a hotel. The manager later explained to our friend that he was protecting his colleagues from inadequate visitors in this way. But I think he just freaked out.
In Russia, I got away with such behavior, for example, in relation to subway employees who take away backpacks and feed them to the shaitan machine.
Corporate Ethics
At work, it is also customary to be very polite. Even if a colleague wrote a completely useless document, he should be praised and encouraged, otherwise he will go to his boss and complain.
Asking a person on his birthday how old he is is also not worth it.
And if someone is dissatisfied with a colleague, then the colleague will most likely find out about it from the authorities. No one directly reports such things, even the team leader. At least that’s what happened to me.
Perhaps there are really many people in the valley who are not afraid to fail and are ready for it. At least, Yuri Dud and Ilya Strebulaev spoke about this. But in practice, I had a colleague who, in my opinion, was very afraid of failure and intrigued against members of his team. I have a feeling that this is a misunderstood culture of leadership, competition and individualism. At least, it doesn’t look like a team spirit at all. I believe that team spirit is the most important thing for a project. In the end, my colleague lost and was forced to move to another team, much to my relief.
At the beginning of work in a client company, everyone is suitable for an online training about harassment for two to three hours. And also a training about security, which, in particular, says that the name of the client company cannot be mentioned in social networks. On this occasion, they even asked me to remove the video on YouTube, but now my project has ended with them. I think that’s how they protect themselves from social engineering.
How much do you earn?
Contractor salaries are trifling by local standards. I don’t know any contractors who make more than $150K a year. Of course, you have to pay taxes on this. Some turn to tax consultants, some deal with online services. I had difficulty filling out the declaration due to the fact that my wife had not yet moved at the time of filling out the declaration, and she does not have an SSN.
I make less than 150K but was offered this salary by an Indian company. I did not take risks and lose a warm place. Some of my colleagues complain that in Russia they felt much better off and could save more money. Many people leave for these reasons.
On the other hand, college teachers earn the same amount, for example.
Protests
I live in Cupertino and have not seen any particular protests here. Only the boarded-up windows of one of the supermarkets, and then not for long. Another girl with a “Beep if you are against racism” sign and one of the neighbors has “Black Lives Matter” and ACAB signs. Recently I met another neighbor with a cute poster about love.
In Washington, on the fence of the White House, I saw a spontaneous anti-racist exhibition and a lot of police nearby. I also saw spontaneous monuments like the Nemtsov Bridge, dedicated to the murdered African Americans. And at the Russian embassy I saw agitation against amendments to the constitution (I came there to vote).

Coronavirus
As you know, the states are in first place in the number of cases of covid and death from it. We have been working from home since March, we wear masks in the store, we keep our distance on the street. To come to the office, you need to measure the temperature and report that you do not have symptoms of SARS. State museums are closed. Movie theaters, basically, too. The beaches are open, and in cafes you can take food with you, or sit on the street, now there are a lot of tables. Public transport runs, you must wear masks in it, even if you are alone in a carriage or bus. At the same time, half of the seats on buses and at airports are not available. After arriving in some places, it is necessary to observe quarantine for 15 days. For example, Hawaii. You can fly from Russia to the States, for example, through Turkey.
After I filled out my tax return, I received a paper check with my name for $1,200 in coronavirus relief. And a week after I cashed it, I received a letter that I had no right to it and should return the money.
upd: Elections
In our village, the intensity of pre-election passions was not noticeable. Near many houses there were signs stuck in the ground for various candidates for the city council and agitation for some proposals for California laws. On the election day, the voting point worked, there was no day off, it was possible to vote by mail and in advance.
Vegan paradise
Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Los Angeles have quite a few vegan cafes and shops. Cupertino doesn’t have one, but regular cafes often have something vegan. For example, curry (sometimes called curry), or burger (impossible food or beyond meat). The canteen at work also had a vegan option every day. Usually Asian or Latin. And cafes are most often Indian or Thai, but there is also a European restaurant. Large chain stores always have a vegan shelf. This is called plant based here. To be honest, I like Moscow and St. Petersburg vegan cafes and shops more.
Crime
Neighborhood watch, No Loitering, No Trespassing signs are quite common here. I assume that they are addressed to the homeless, of which there are indeed many. For the purpose of robbery, my colleague’s glass was broken in the car in the parking lot of the supermarket. And we recently stole a bike near the supermarket.
Apparently, bicycle parking turned out to be a convenient backdoor, which was known to some of the industrialists. She was in an area where there is no video surveillance. Be that as it may, no one is going to eliminate the vulnerability.
At the same time, my neighborhood is rather carefree. Not everyone’s mailboxes are closed, although they can send a credit card, a check, and an SSN (a local analogue of a TIN, which you can get to do some kind of fraud).
Police
Several of my acquaintances were attacked by people with weapons. The police come to the call very quickly if they think that there may be a threat to life. In all other cases, the criminal case is unlikely to be investigated, at least no one will look for a bicycle.
Churches
Cupertino has a wide variety of churches. Most of them are Christian, but belong to a wide variety of communities. There are even Jehovah’s Witnesses. Nobody here considers them sectarians or extremists, unlike Russia. As you know, many of our witnesses are imprisoned or have emigrated.

upd: Details about the drama at work
At the request of readers – details. In general, it so happened that the employee, to whom I was attached at the very beginning, considered me some kind of stupid fool, I don’t know why. He shared this opinion with my project manager (like a team leader), she talked to EPM (also a girl) and then went to the manager of the employing company. She began to ask him to remove Misha somewhere and change him to another contractor, because she doesn’t even know what this Misha is doing. Apparently, it never crossed her mind to discuss this topic with me.
The manager of my company was not a bastard, and said that this is not how things are done, and a week ago Misha suited everyone. So let’s give it another month to work for you, and then we’ll see. At this time, my beautiful colleague stood up for me and everything was settled.
Subsequently, my project manager turned out to be very nice and several times reminded me of the day off, which she herself offered me after (voluntary) processing. And the conclusion is simple: your team leader must definitely know what you are doing, and if he does not know this, then this is your problem, not his. And you should not wait until the opinion of a colleague about you will correct itself, it may be too late. Do not forget about self-presentation and proactivity.
A similar story happened to me at Auto.ru, when it was already a division of Yandex — I was suddenly called into a meeting room, where they said that I was bored in the project and therefore parted with me. Before that, no one had said a bad word to me. Perhaps the team leader was simply uncomfortable to tell that something was wrong. I still don’t think decent companies do that.
