Spokane Tribal TANF – Guiding Our Own to Self-Sufficiency

Child Care Services

The Spokane Tribal TANF Program offers licensed child care centers at both locations. The TANF Childrens Center is licensed to provide care for up to 38 children at 232 E. Lyons Avenue, Spokane, Washington, 99208; located inside the Spokane TANF building. The Childrens Center provides child care services for children aged 6 weeks thru 6 years old. The Pauline Stearns Early Learning Center is licensed to provide care for up to 56 children; they are located at 6195-B Ford-Wellpinit Rd, Wellpinit, WA, 99040 directly behind the Spokane Tribal Administration Building. The Pauline Stearns ELC provides child care services for children aged one month thru six years. More information for each location is listed below.

Both programs are currently enrolled with Early Achievers. Early Achievers is Washington States Quality Rating and Improvement System for early learning facilities which operates under federal grant money in conjunction with the nations Race to the Top campaign. Many parents’ work days are longer than their kids’ school days. NEYC offers parents a seamless solution. Parents can drop off and pick up their children at NEYC, and we will get them to and from school. Our Vehicle Fleet is inspected daily and equipped with certified booster seats.

Spokane Northeast Youth Center has been making a difference in the lives of children since 1971. What started as a program within Spokane Parks and Recreation has now grown to become its own nonprofit organization with a dedicated board of directors. We are state licensed through the Department of Youth Services, providing social and emotional learning, childcare, meals and transportation to children in our community. All children deserve a place where they feel welcome and celebrated.
