Head Start – Opportunities for WBC
About Us
Our Head Start program operates out of 12 Early Head Start and Head Start locations across our two-county area.
We’re excited to be a leader in providing outstanding educational opportunities for children and encouraging self-sufficiency in families. Throughout our history, we have successfully partnered with other organizations to improve access to services, avoid duplication of services, and maximize opportunities available to low-income individuals.
We also ensure that all children enrolled in our program receive nutrition, dental, health, vision, hearing, emotional wellness, and educational screenings, as well as appropriate follow-up and treatment when necessary. Highly trained teachers use a research-based curriculum daily to create a stimulating educational environment that prepares children for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Applying
We are actively enrolling students ages 0-5 in Head Start.
The program runs from August to late June or early July.
Applications can be completed online (for first time applicants only) or via a paper application. Completed paper applications can be returned to any of our centers by mail or in-person. Applications can also be dropped off or mailed to our main office (604 High Tech Drive, Georgetown, TX 78626) or emailed to our enrollment coordinator.

Notice of Participation in the USDA Child & Adult Care Food Program
Opportunities for Williamson & Burnet Counties (OWBC) announces their operation of the Child & Adult Care Food Program. The same meals will be made available to all enrolled participants at no separate charge and regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in the course of the meal services.
The OWBC Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child and family development programs that prepare children from birth to five years of age to become successful school students and productive members of society. OWBC’s Head Start was started in the mid-1960’s and has grown into a multi-faceted program leading the way in implementing researched based best practices in not only child development, but health, nutrition, mental health, and social services.

In 2020, we identified three main areas for monthly employee opinion surveys: engagement, COVID-19and diversity. Our goal was for employees to feel secure and informed despite prolonged global uncertainty. For each of these areas, employees gave “Excellent” marks throughout the year.
Labor Relations Documents
We respect the right of our employees to freely choose the union that represents them. We partner to maintain fruitful relationships with trade unions, works councils and workers’ associations that represent the interests of many of our employees. In the US, as of 2020, about 6% of our employees were unionized.
Around 30% of our employees around the world belong to organizations that represent the interests of workers, such as trade unions, works councils and associations.
Pay & Benefits
At Emerson, we are committed to retaining and developing talented people around the world. We are committed to “Support Our People” by providing competitive wages and benefits for the countries in which we operate. Our pay practices comply with applicable law and international standards, including those relating to minimum wages, overtime compensation and statutory benefits. The grounds for receiving wages are documented in a timely manner in a payroll or similar written communication. In the US, we offer a standard benefit package for full-time employees that includes medical care, life insurance, disability insurance, paid parental leave, and participation in a retirement savings program. In other countries, our full-time benefit packages vary according to local legal requirements, but all include paid parental leave.
We’ve added telehealth insurance this year to help employees continue seeking care during the COVID-19 pandemic..
- PAID PARENTAL LEAVE — Employee well-being requires work-life balance: everyone wants to spend time with family. We pay leave for employees who have become parents, regardless of gender, and in accordance with who provides primary care for the child. When a child is born or adopted/adopted, Emerson’s carer receives 12 weeks of paid leave (all paid up front). Employees who wish to help a spouse or partner may take 2 weeks of paid leave within 6 months of the birth or adoption of a child. In countries where minimum vacation periods exceed company guidelines, Emerson follows local laws.

- PROHIBITION OF FORCED LABOR – Our practices prohibit and we do not use any form of forced, dependent or apprentice labor. We also prohibit our suppliers from using any form of forced, dependent or apprentice labor. Our policies comply with important regulations such as the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. Emerson fully supports these and other efforts to end human trafficking worldwide.
