Tiaira Y.

Tiaira has been our full-time nanny since our daughter was 4 months old. Right away, she adapted to our daily routine and put our daughter onto a consistent baby schedule. She’s kept her on track with developmental milestones, and has been an incredible resource to us as first-time parents. Shetakes her to different parks throughout the day and has found classes and activities to keep her engaged at every stage. She’s also orderly, keeping our place and play areas clean, fully-stocked, and tidy. Tiaira has a calm, respectful demeanor that our daughter responds well to, but we’ve also seen her be firm when needed. She’s observant and informs us of any new developments/concerns that may have come up during the day.
When Covid hit, Tiaira was able to balance all of this around two of us working from home. She was also trustworthy – we knew she was taking every precaution to keep herself and our daughter safe. We highly recommend her as an experienced, reliable, and engaging nanny….

Alex looked after our 6 month old son for a couple of months after my husband and I returned to work. She was wonderful with him- took him on walks, played with him and always kept detailed notes of her timewith him. We really enjoyed having Alex in our home and trusted her with our son. However, the reason for the 3 stars is because after 2 months, she stopped communicating with us and stopped showing up without any notice or explanation. We gave her numerous opportunities to let us know what was going on- I called and texted for days with no reply. It was extremely disappointing and very unlike the person we knew. Our time with Alex ended suddenly and was really poor experience for us as we were left with having to figure out childcare last minute. We really liked Alex and believe she was a responsible and trustworthy care taker, however, I am unable to give a glowing recommendation at this time….

What You Need to Know About Overnight Daycare

With the demands of modern life, both parents in at least 46% of households in the US are working full-time jobs to ensure they meet the needs of their families. But according to a McKinsey global survey, respondents felt that most kids suffer whenever mothers join the labor force. That’s because the kids may not have someone to look after them. That’s where an overnight daycare comes in.

In some families, mothers are the sole breadwinner, while other families have both parents, but the tough economy compels parents to work even during the wee hours to make ends meet. This creates the need to leave them in a daycare overnight.

But what’s an overnight daycare, and how does it work? Read on;

What is an Overnight Daycare?

Overnight daycare centers are facilities with caregivers whose role is to care for children left under their watch overnight, outside typical childcare hours. Professionals run these facilities, so parents can be at ease knowing that their kids are in good hands. With an overnight daycare, you can leave your kids to sleepover at the center, or you can opt to pick them early morning hours, depending on your job.

Actually, overnight daycares are a relief for parents who work irregular hours such as overnight shifts or early morning hours. As for the traditional daycare centers, most operate from 5 am to 7 pm and then close. Therefore, these are not ideal for parents looking for daycares that match their irregular job schedules. Single parents are the most affected and can get frustrated because they have few options at their disposal with child care. If you are in such a condition, overnight daycare can make all the difference. But you need to make sure it’s reliable and find out the overnight daycare rates.

How Does an Overnight Daycare Work?

Unlike a traditional daycare, where children spend most of their time playing and eating, an overnight daycare takes a different direction because children sometimes have to spend the entire night at the site. So, having adequate and comfortable sleeping facilities is inevitable.

Most importantly, a night daycare needs to have reputable accreditation. The facility needs to meet common licensing standards to offer overnight child care services. Licensing and accreditation vary from one State to the other. Before leaving your children in a night daycare, make sure it has complied with all governing rules. This way, you are guaranteed the safety of your children.

Also, a quality overnight daycare must be well-equipped to offer quality services. For example, children are supposed to sleep in cribs or beds because cots are unacceptable in overnight daycares. Every child gets separate toiletries and clean linens. Besides, the children’s parents must agree on gender and age-appropriate sleeping plans, and the information must be added in the Parent Contract. Rooms meant for overnight care should be equipped with a fire extinguisher and must have proof of approval by the Fire Marshal.

Furthermore, snacks and meals are offered to the children in an overnight daycare. Throughout the night, the kids are supervised to ensure they are comfortable and safe. Providers in quality overnight daycares observe mealtimes, children’s sleeping habits, age-based bedtime routines, sleep disturbances, and so on. Overnight daycare service providers can only run their facility after a go-ahead from their Regional Officer. To get approval, they must submit their operational plan, which covers the number of children under their watch, their ages, and the snack and meal schedule.

Is an Overnight Day Care Important?

With over 40% of Americans working non-typical employment jobs, overnight daycares are gaining momentum. For example, service industry workers, police officers, and healthcare workers are a group of people that mainly work during overnight shifts. And these people are always on the lookout for quality overnight daycares. Single parents are another category of people who desperately search for quality overnight childcare services.

Therefore, the need for an overnight daycare cannot be underrated. For people working for overnight shifts consistently, it’s a challenge to find a reliable overnight babysitter for the entire week or month. So, for them, reliable overnight daycare services mean everything.

If you have a safe place to leave your children overnight, you’ll have peace of mind in the workplace. You’ll know that your children are well-taken off and that they’ll enjoy some quality sleep even in your absence. It is possible to achieve this with a quality overnight daycare that has everything your children may need. The center should have a caring team, and the environment must be conducive enough.

The good thing about overnight daycare centers is that they apply a holistic approach while offering their services. They’ll cover up for you, including helping your kids complete their homework before retiring to bed. Also, if your children love bedtime stories, some providers can help with that.

Hygiene is maintained in these facilities, and they’ll make sure that your children brush their teeth before going to bed. Depending on your schedule, you can pick your child up in the morning, but if you only work during odd or late hours, you can pick them up mid-sleep. Overnight daycare centers are highly flexible and an excellent option to help you keep your job and meet all the parenting demands.

Overnight Day Care vs. In-Home Daycare

Leaving your baby under someone else’s care is a major decision. You have to decide between a home daycare or an overnight daycare. Here’s a breakdown of the two;

In-home daycare

This is a home-based daycare or family child care. It involves looking for a reliable caregiver to look after your children in your home. This is opposed to a daycare center where you drop off your children in a home-like environment. With this option, the caregivers are not necessarily required to undergo formal education in early childhood education to start an in-home daycare. Most develop programs depending on early training philosophies.

Pros of In-home Daycare

  • Cost-effective: According to a recent survey, On average, in-home daycare costs around $199 weekly, while overnight daycare rates could hit $211 per child for the same period. (The rates primarily depend on the provider).
  • Lower teacher-to-child ratio: In an in-home daycare, one teacher is limited to six children, according to the US Office of Personnel Management. This is unlike in the 1: 12 teacher-child ratio in daycare centers.
  • Highly flexible: This kind of program is flexible enough to accommodate you in case of late-night meetings or a weekend out.
  • Consistency: Your children can have the same caregiver from infancy to kindergarten.

Cons of In-home Daycare

  • Less direct educational instruction since the child care providers may lack the same level of training
  • The children may not play as much due to the lack of outdoor play space
  • Potential overexposure to screens, depending on daycare capacity

Overnight Daycare Center

With daycare centers, parents drop off their kids at the site and pick them off later.

Pros

  • They are convenient: they operate even in the odd hours, enabling parents to concentrate on their work.

Legal and Regulatory Considerations for Overnight Daycare

An overnight daycare needs to comply with state rules and regulations to operate. The certification for the overnight program differs from the typical daycare program. The provider must register with the State’s office using a unique business name. Also, they must file a federal tax ID (Identification Number) with local and State revenue offices. The business can be registered as a corporation, partnership, LLC, or sole proprietorship.

It’s also critical for the provider to acquire a federal employer ID from the IRS office, then register the number with local and State agencies. The license is obtained from the Revenue Department and must have business insurance. However, keep in mind that legal and regulatory requirements for overnight daycare facilities differ from one State to another. Make sure you understand your State’s requirements to ensure you enroll your child in a facility that complies with the rule of law.

Round-the-clock kindergarten – salvation or problem?

Breaking news

Breaking news

Tags: News of Kazakhstan today and open round-the-clock kindergartens. According to officials, such children’s institutions on the basis of the state will not entail serious financial costs, but will help solve one of the most important issues today – the safety of children.

If such kindergartens had worked, perhaps the tragedy with five sisters in Astana would not have happened when parents were forced to work at night, and the children were at home. And dozens of other troubles, perhaps, also bypassed Kazakhstani children, if boys and girls were supervised at night.

Our editors decided to thoroughly study this issue, and to collect in one article interviews of those who have already worked or encountered the work of such kindergartens that operate around the clock, we talked with psychologists and with children who practically lived in a kindergarten.

A resident of the third metropolis Larisa Shadrina worked in the night kindergarten No. 2 of the city of Chimkent in 1981 as a nanny. The woman recalls that there were 30 kids in the group, they brought children from three years old to the kindergarten, but only those who were not able to be taken by their relatives stayed at night.

“I worked in the preparatory group. We had a 24-hour kindergarten and the children were under our supervision from Monday to Friday. Only I had 18 children left for the night, they were older and some already understood that since the parents did not pick up, then they could not. And some had to explain that their parents are working and have not abandoned them. Someone understood, someone did not, so I had a girl who could not sleep at night and I had to sit with her. The only thing that was required of us adults was love! And we tried to give it to each of our kids. The time was like 1981, plants and factories were working, and people were needed,” says Larisa Shadrina.

Our heroine Natalia recalls how she was looking forward to Friday and her mother at the door.

A woman admits that she didn’t like and didn’t want to stay in the kindergarten at night, but her parents worked in several shifts, so she had to live in a state institution five days a week.

“I still remember my first night in kindergarten. I remember how they turned off the light, I lay and quietly cried into the pillow, because I missed my mother very much. My sister tried to calm me down and I fell asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night from something tickling my hand, looking closer, I noticed a huge furry spider on my pillow. I could not wake up the nanny, so I went to bed with my sister. In the morning they scolded me and even tried to ridicule me for behaving like a little girl. But when they heard about the spider, they immediately set about cleaning the room. There were other situations that forever stuck in my memory, how they did not let me into the toilet, forcing me to finish eating sour beetroot. I could not finish the beetroot, but I did not have time to run to the toilet either. I also remember good moments, like a boy kissed on the cheek and confessed his love. I remember the joy of meeting my parents on Friday and hugging my mother at home, inhaling her native aroma, ”says Natalya.

Now Natalya is a mother herself, and it is very difficult for her to think of leaving her child somewhere for the night. But, he understands his parents, he says, then there was a time when people worked for the good of the country day and night.

Marina Nigmatulina also recalls that kindergarten was a real salvation for two working parents. The children were fed and supervised while the parents earned their living.

“My mother worked in shifts at a bakery, and my father was a truck driver, he was always on flights, I remember how once my father picked me up in the middle of the week when he arrived from a flight, it was a real holiday. I have a bunch of photos from our garden somewhere at home. I remember my friends from kindergarten, some of them even became relatives, my brother married the sister of my classmate. I can tell you what is needed, ask my mother if necessary, ”says Marina.

However, psychologists say that sometimes a night nursery can become a real stress for a child. Fatima Yunusova, works with children’s psychological trauma and opposes the fact that the child remains in round-the-clock kindergartens and is left without parental attention for a long time. She gives a number of facts why this can negatively affect babies.

“Firstly, tactile communication with parents (or adults who replace parents) is important for children. Teachers cannot provide this. There are many children. Their task is to feed, lay down and monitor the dry diaper. All. And the sense of security of the child depends on hugs and touches, which plays an important role in adulthood.

Secondly, during the first years of life, the child is closely connected with the mother at the energy level. He does not separate himself from his mother. In his world, he and his mother are one, so a long separation, especially at night, is a great stress for the child

Thirdly, the child grows up more stress-resistant, calm and confident when no more than one or two adults take care of him. In the nursery, strangers will feed, change a diaper, wash, change clothes, and they often change. Not every child is able to cope with this situation. As a result, such a person grows up to be a more anxious and insecure person.

And, finally, the most important thing for a child is the unconditional love and attention of a parent. Not a single educator is able to love someone else’s child as his own and give him the care that parents can give, ”the psychologist believes.

Today, parents increasingly trust their children to nannies, who are found through ads on social networks. Those who cannot afford such a service ask their grandparents. But, some have to go to extreme measures and leave children at night and daytime completely alone at home, which often ends sadly. Sleepover gardens like these could be a great option for single mothers. But, then, what about the mental health of the “next” generation?

So far, this topic raises many questions, but we note that everything new is well forgotten old.

Employment dictates its conditions. Many parents have to work late, work night shifts, or travel frequently on business trips. With whom to leave the child if there are no grandparents or other relatives in the family who could help in such a situation?

Finding a reliable babysitter with whom you can leave your child overnight is extremely difficult, and not all families have the opportunity to pay for her services. A way out of the situation can be a group of round-the-clock stay in kindergarten.

Today in Soligorsk, such a group exists on the basis of the State Educational Institution “Nursery Garden No. 23” Luchik “, located on Parkovaya St., 4. About why this group is needed, and who can use its services, to the correspondent of Electronic Soligorsk “said the head of the kindergarten Svetlana Andrukhovych.

– Who can use the 24 hour group service?

– Single mothers or parents with part-time work, late hours, night shifts, such as in an emergency hospital or a bakery, frequent business trips.

– Is it possible to leave the child just so that at this time, for example, go somewhere on their own business?

– No. There are children in the round-the-clock stay group, for whom there is no one to look after in the evenings due to the busyness of their parents. In all other cases, you will have to involve relatives or hire a nanny.

– At what age can children be accepted into the round-the-clock group?

– Our age group, from 3 to 6 years old, is designed for 12 children. It is intended only for pupils of our kindergarten, so parents who need the services of a round-the-clock group should think about it in advance.

– Do I need to provide any documents?

– Yes, parents must provide documentary evidence that, due to certain circumstances, they have no one to leave their child with in the evening or at night. As a rule, this is a certificate from the place of work about the shift schedule, etc.

– Tell us about the working hours of the 24-hour group?

– We have a five-day work week, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am. There are two teachers in two shifts, from 7:00 to 14:00 and from 14:00 to 21:00. Then the night nurse comes. In the round-the-clock stay group, children can stay overnight from one to three days. Parents should take care of clothes and a change of underwear.
