Sleepy Tigers Chinese Immersion Learning Center Daycare Home Preschool – Minnetonka, MN 55345
Daycare in Minnetonka, MN
Our Chinese Immersion offers the children Mandarin Chinese 80% of the time, and 20% of English. We are dedicated to high quality early childhood education, continuously providing loving, caring, nurturing environment for the children in our school. We use The HighScope Preschool Curriculum, focus on promoting personal well-being, help children discover their love of learning while developing the values and social skills required to excel throughout life. Our program is oriented around the following core values: LOVE, RESPECT, PROBLEM SOLVING, COLLABORATION, CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION and FUN. All our bilingual teachers are highly educated, fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English in speaking, reading, and writing. We believe the preschool years are the most important time in a child’s language and social development. We share your desire to provide the best possible start for your child. We are dedicated to helping children discover their love of learning while developing the values and social skills required to excel throughout life. Our Early Childhood Education approach is "the Finnish way’, learn through play, free discovery, collaboration, interaction, own initiative, concentration, and learning to take responsibility for one’s own actions. We emphasizes the so-called soft skills of balanced growth and taking others into account, over quantifiable metrics. At Sleepy Tigers Chinese Immersion Learning Center we have an action plan in place, based on the national core curriculum on ECE. Furthermore, an individual early childhood education and care plan is drawn up for each child, in collaboration with the child’s parents, and it is reviewed at regular intervals. Strong emphasis is also placed on the informal sharing of the child’s daily activities with the parents. The relationship between parents and the carer or educator is an essential part of the childs well-being. When children participate in meaningful and relevant activities, they experience feelings of success and the joy of learning. The right mix of care, tacit education and specific teaching promotes children’s positive self-image, expressive and interactive skills, and develops their thinking. The earlier a child is introduced to a second language, the greater the likelihood they will become truly proficient in it. It also helps children’s brain development. Children’s brains are naturally programmed to learn any language they are sufficiently exposed to perfectly and without accent. This ability declines with age, disappearing by high school. A child taught a second language after the age of 10 or so is unlikely ever to speak it like a native. That the earlier a child is introduced to a second language, the greater the chances are that the child will become truly proficient in the language.Students of foreign languages have access to a greater number of career possibilities and develop a deeper understanding of their own and other cultures. children who receive second language instruction are more creative and better at solving complex problems.
Sleepy Tigers Chinese Immersion Learning Center offers safe, loving childcare in the Minnetonka area. Kids learn through curriculum-based, educational activities. The facility is a home daycare providing a safe, nurturing space where kids learn important social skills. They support both English and Other through their dual-language immersion program. Choosing a good child day care center is vital, one where the adult won’t just plunk your children down in front of a soap opera all day and feed them Top Ramen. You should look for day care centers that provide learning programs and playtime for your child, along with a safe and healthy environment.
There are many different types of day care centers, ranging from basic nurseries to preschools that will provide more of a learning environment for your children. Some day care centers specialize in a specific age range, while others are more open. When you’re contemplating placing your child in a specific day care center, you should visit each one with your child. In this way, you can see how your child reacts to the other children who are there and to the caregiver. You want your child to be happy and comfortable.
While some day care centers provide a greater variety of activities than others, any good day care center is going to encourage positive interaction among all of the children. They will also have rules that promote good behavior, learning, manners, and child development. You certainly don’t want to have to worry that your child is going to develop bad habits from day care.

While you don’t need to go overboard in choosing suitable day care centers, you should approach the subject seriously and with thought. Your child is going to be spending a good-sized portion of his or her life in day cares and you want to make sure it is going to be a positive experience. Family is the most important thing in the world and you should make sure that your children are your first priority.
When you are considering a day care center, you should look at where it is located and how much it costs. There’s not much sense in putting your son or daughter in daycare so that you can work full time and spending most of what you earn on the day care center’s tuitions and your travel expenses. If that’s the case, you might as well stay home with your child. However, if you do truly need the money, there are usually plenty of day care services available and it shouldn’t be too difficult to find one close by that is reasonably priced.
Different Kinds of Child day Care Centers
While child day care centers are common, there is such a huge demand for this service that there are now quite a variety of options available other than basic day care. These include the following:
- Home child care or family childcare
- Child care services
- Preschool
- Nursery
Home child care tends to be the most popular option because it is generally more affordable and a smaller environment. While some day care centers are quite large and can provide better early childhood education, it is also more difficult for each child to receive personal attention. Day care centers that are based out of someone’s home are usually more personal and your child can receive more care and nurturing. Most parents want their children to be receiving love and affection, the care that they themselves would give them. They don’t want a day care business that is merely going to make sure that their child is still alive and adequately healthy.
Home child care providers are also more adaptable, generally speaking. This means that if your child likes a certain song sung to them before they take their nap each day, the home care provider is more likely to be willing to do that than someone in a larger day care facility. Most adult home child care providers are parents themselves, making them better able to understand and love your child.
Other Things to Think About
One of the first steps you should take after picking out a family day care center that you think will be suitable for your child is do a little investigating. This can involve talking to the parents of the other children that use the child day care center to see what they think about it. You should also always check to make sure the child care service you are considering is legally licensed to operate in your state. Licensing officials check criminal records and ensure that the child care provider has emergency response training and a safe and healthy environment for the children.
As mentioned earlier, it is a good idea to visit the child day care center that you are considering. You should do this at least a couple of times, and try to go at different times of the day so that you can get a better idea of what kind of schedule they have. This will help you to see how your own child would fit in.
If you are having difficulties finding the appropriate child care environment for your son or daughter, there are some other options. Some people get family and friends to help out, while others hire a nanny. Adult nannies are a good option because they ensure that your child receives personal attention and quality child care. However, this also means that your child will not receive as much social interaction since he or she won’t have other children to play with like in a family day care center.
No matter what option you decide to go with, make sure that you know who you are leaving your child with. Meet them, get to know them, and let your child do the same. Do some research on the internet to make sure that no one has had negative experiences with the day care center you are considering. Check to make sure that they are legally licensed. Once you have done all of this, you can feel more confident and secure in knowing that you have chosen the right day care center for your child.
Switching Day Care Centers
Choosing Another Child Care Provider
So you want to switch day care providers for your kids but you don’t know where to start or what to choose among the plethora of options out there in this world. It is fittingly one of the most important decisions of a young parent’s journey due to the fact that a child’s first formative years up until the age of six is critical. It is important for parents to not just consider the monetary impact of these choices but also the emotional, intellectual, and social future impacts the choice of a day care provider will have on their kids in the long term future. So let’s discuss some general tips to consider for the parent and the child to consider when one is looking to switch day care providers within a short time frame.
First, you must consider the cost of attending some of the more prestigious and rigorous day care provider centers in your area. In some areas, let’s face the reality that the more money per month per child spent; the better the facilities and the educational value experience offered for your child. Things such as using smart boards and I Pad’s to enhance the learning experience is a very real possibility in these places. However, if a parent is budget conscious they can still afford this experience but it would mean cutting back on all or most non-necessity spending. This would include curbing your eating out habits as well as any leisure entertainment or travel activity and place that money instead into your child’s future day care home. If an expensive day care sees that you are making an effort to keep up with the payments; then they will be more willing to work with you and not let your child leave that place. For a child going to this environment, they need to consider whether or not they will fit into this environment, things like playtime, feeding time, and individual care of the staff- is it received well by the child? These will make the difference between choosing these ones or a cheaper alternative. Cheaper is not all bad if the quality and availability of care is there for your child in the first place.
Secondly, you need to consider your travel times and distance of day care relative to your work and other important places like the hospital, grocery store, bank, and places that you frequent on a daily basis. Is it near enough that you can get to your child should he/she become ill or need special attention so that the day care center can contact you and arrange a meeting with you the same day if needed.
Furthermore, you need to consider the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the day care center provider. Do not underestimate a clean environment for your kid to play and learn in with other kids. Your kid will enjoy making new friends in a clean and safe environment. Plus you as a parent will enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that your child will not be being home any unwanted germs and diseases into your house. Parents must also consider if there is a dispute over payment and care; how does the management and staff deal with such requests? If there is a lackadaisical approach to your core issues; then that is a bad prelude of things to come concerning your child’s care. Your child will probably feel like he/she is being neglected or not fed on time and will start to complain to you ever so slightly that something is not right. When they do, do not hesitate to take them out of that day care center and find another one immediately.
In a recessionary economy, it is okay and permissible for both parents and kids to demand the best care for their dollar. Make your day care dollar stretch by reading all of the material and brochures and visiting every day center on your list until you find that perfect fit for your child. It’s out there; it is just waiting on you to find it!
Child Care Options for Low Income Families
One of the most frustrating aspects of being a working citizen is not having the ability to afford childcare. The majority of day care facilities charge as much as $300 per week for each child. That amount is difficult for middle-class citizens to pay. Low-income families cannot fathom paying such an expense. Luckily, the government and the various states have developed programs that help low-income families get the childcare they deserve. The following is some information on those programs:
Extended Day Program
The extended day program can assist low-income working parents during the regular school year. Many school districts offer this program. The school keeps children before and after school hours for a small monthly fee. A parent can drop a child off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick the child up as late as 6:00 p.m. This program is excellent for low-income workers with daytime weekday jobs. The cost is approximately $150 per month for before and after school. The weekly rate is approximately $37.50, which is extremely competitive.
The attendants participate in various activities with the children before and after school. They help the children with their homework so that the parents have less stress when they come home from work. They give the children a full breakfast in the morning program and a snack in the evening program. Parents can opt to pay for the morning program only, the evening program only, or both programs. The evening program is the more expensive of the two because it lasts so many hours after the school releases the children. The evening program is $100 while the morning program is $52.
The Child Care Assistance Program
CCAP is a special program that provides childcare assistance to certain low-income families. People who are collecting TANF are automatically eligible to receive this assistance. Teenage parents who are working on obtaining their educations are also eligible for CCAP. Those who are not collecting TANF can still qualify if they are pursuing education that will improve their work skills and job opportunities. Parents can apply for CCAP assistance with the Department of Children & Family Services. The financial guidelines for qualification are along the lines of a $3,000 per month income threshold for a four-person family. The applicant must have proof of income, social security cards, birth certificates, and immunization records for all children. Application processing can take up to 30 days.
Head Start
Head start is a program for children between the ages of three and five. The program provides childcare services and medical services to the children who qualify. It is funded by the Administration of Children’s Services. The Head Start program covers childcare from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Teachers work with the children to fine-tune their social and developmental skills. Those who are interested in the program may apply online. Applicants go on a waitlist until there is an available slot in the program. It is best for an interested person to complete an application as quickly as possible since the wait may be extended.
Child Care Voucher Program
The Child Care Voucher Program is in effect in many states throughout the United States. It provides a subsidy of up to 95 percent of childcare cost to low-income families. Subsidy recipients will choose an eligible provider from the list of licensed providers. They may also select a relative or an in-home provider. The Child Care Voucher Program covers the childcare from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. This is known as the traditional childcare period. However, the program also covers non-traditional times for parents who work odd shifts. It covers nights, weekends, and evenings.
A wide variety of options is available for low-income childcare. Many stay-at-home moms also run small day care businesses in which they discount their services. There is a way to make working and taking care of your children affordable.
12 Best Ways to Learn Mandarin or Cantonese
Are there ways to make Beginner Chinese fun and easy?
Many people say that it is a complex and difficult language. They emphasize that the study of French, English or Spanish, and indeed any European, cannot be put on a par with the study of Chinese. Even students from the Institute of International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences in Moscow confirm this, noting that Japanese is easier to learn.
But there are other opinions. For example, that this oriental language is one of the most logical. It is even easier to learn if you know English. Which opinion to trust is up to you.
We recommend that you simply find the time and determination to test everything in practice by enrolling in our Chinese course for beginners. But if you do not have such an opportunity yet, you can use our advice. They will help you organize your study of Mandarin or Cantonese.
12 great ways to learn Chinese:
1. Determine whether you want to learn Mandarin or Cantonese
Both dialects have the same syntax and grammar, some words are pronounced the same. Once you learn one dialect, it will be easier for you to master another in a shorter time. It’s better to master Mandarin as there are many free resources to learn it.
2. Decide if you want to learn traditional or simplified characters
Simplified characters appeared in Chinese around the 1950s. They were added in order to increase the level of literacy of the population. Simplified characters are much easier to learn and are widely used in China.
Traditional characters are used in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan, but the use of simplified characters is becoming more common, particularly in areas such as business and education. On the other hand, by learning traditional characters, it will be easier for you to understand and remember simplified characters.
If you have enough time to educate yourself, we recommend learning traditional characters.
3. Learn phrases, not single words
Even if you are new to Chinese, always try to memorize phrases, not single words. It will take decades to learn all the hieroglyphs. Are you ready to set aside that much time for language learning? If not, focus on phrases. In addition, hieroglyphs can have several meanings, which change depending on the context. This also speaks to the benefits of memorizing phrases.
4. Always pay attention to tone
Tone can change the meaning of a word. By choosing the wrong tone, you may accidentally call a horse mom. Agree, such misunderstandings can lead to unpleasant and extremely embarrassing consequences.
Here is a typical example:
First tone: 妈 (mā) meaning mother, mother
Second tone: 麻 (má) meaning cannabis, hemp
Third tone: 马 (mǎ) meaning horse, horse
Fourth tone: 骂 (mà) meaning to scold, scold
Another example:
吻 (wěn) meaning to kiss (kiss) and 问 (wèn) meaning to ask (ask).
Compare the questions below:
- Can I ask you Zhenya? When will you leave work today?
- Can I kiss you Zhenya? When will you leave work today?
Try to learn to hear and pronounce the tones correctly from the first days of training.
5. Choose the right learning style
There are many ways to learn a language. Find the most effective learning style for you. To do this, you can try several different programs or methods.
6. Listen to a lot of Chinese pop music
Music helps to overcome language and cultural barriers, expands vocabulary, improves pronunciation. Who can listen? For example, Eason Chan, Kay Tse. JJ Lin, Charlene Choi Leo Ku, William Chang, Twins and Joey Yung. These are not all popular Chinese artists. You can choose your stars.
7. Focus on the sound
We recommend that you always focus on the pronunciation of words when learning Mandarin or Cantonese. Children learn language by listening to what is said over and over again.
You too can listen to various Chinese recordings, conversations and dialogues over and over and then try to play them back.
Don’t make the most common mistake when learning a language: don’t focus only on writing, work on speaking and pronunciation. Don’t forget the tones!
8. Use a variety of tools and resources to learn a language
Don’t rely on a dictionary and one tutorial if you want to learn a foreign language.
Work with several different materials and textbooks. Some have good exercises, others have excellent listening material, and still others explain grammar in an accessible way. Use everything to gain knowledge – Chinese podcasts and comics, magazines and newspapers, even Chinese road signs.
9. Learn Chinese regularly
At first, the language will require you to be selfless, have healthy ambitions, and have a lot of free time. Having learned the alphabet and a few phrases, you will not speak a foreign language.
Try to set aside at least 15 or 20 minutes a day for language learning. Sometimes people who do little, but very often, show excellent results.
10. Immerse yourself in Chinese
Immersion always brings great results. Try to travel to Beijing, Hong Kong or Shanghai. There you will hear the intonations, sounds, rhythms of the language live. Such a journey will give you not only the opportunity to absorb language knowledge naturally and quickly, but also the motivation for further study.

12. Feel free to practice with native speakers
The Chinese are very good-natured, they will gladly correct you if they hear mistakes. Remember that by avoiding practice, you will not feel progress.
P.S. Set specific goals
Before diving into learning, set achievable goals for yourself. This will keep you motivated and focused on learning Chinese.

There are actually hundreds of Chinese dialects!
Suddenly you wonder if you should learn Mandarin or something else like Cantonese.
Before you change your mind about this difficult but rewarding linguistic feat, let us briefly tell you about the differences between these dialects and answer all your questions.
Cantonese versus Mandarin and which one you should learn
Cantonese and Mandarin are the two most commonly used dialects in China. As a result, these are the two most studied Chinese languages.
Knowing the difference between them, and where and by whom they are used, will help you choose the one that best suits your specific language goals and needs.
So let’s look at some of the main differences between Cantonese and Mandarin.
Number of tones
Chinese is known for being a tonal language, meaning that the tone or pitch of a word determines its meaning. Not surprisingly, tones tend to scare people away from learning Chinese because they are generally considered too difficult to learn.
But Cantonese and Mandarin are not the only Chinese languages with a tonal system.
In fact, each Chinese dialect has its own tonal system. However, the difference between the two tonal systems lies in the number of tones used by each dialect.
Mandarin has four basic tones, but some linguists consider the neutral tone to be the fifth.
Cantonese has six basic tones and three additional ones: high, medium and low. Together it turns out as many as nine tones – four more than that of a mandarin.
Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation
No wonder Cantonese and Mandarin have their own grammar and vocabulary rules. After all, they are two different languages.
Cantonese and Mandarin are mutually incomprehensible, meaning that speakers of one do not understand the other.
However, be aware that Mandarin is the official language of China, which means that even Cantonese speakers are required to learn it in school.
Thus, most Cantonese speakers can understand Mandarin, but not many Chinese speakers know Cantonese.
Let’s look at some examples of Cantonese and Mandarin vocabulary.
Examples of Canton vocabulary
你 好 (néih hóu) – Hello
好 见 见 见 见 见 见 见 见 见 你 你 名 呀???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 呀 jouhm What is your name?
你 係 邊 度人 呀? (néih haih bīndouh yàhn a?) – Where are you from?
Examples of the Mandarin language vocabulary
你 好 好 好 好 (nǐ hǎo) – Hello
好久 不见 (hǎo jiǔ bù jiàn) – have not seen
你 什么????????????????????????????????????????? what is your name?
你是哪国人? (nǐ shì nǎ guó rén?) – Where are you from?

Where each dialect is spoken
Cantonese is spoken in Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong 9000
Unlike Chinese, Cantonese is not spoken or understood throughout China. But that doesn’t change the fact that 73.4 million people speak it!
In addition, it is used in some of the most densely populated and touristic regions in China.
According to WorldAtlas, Cantonese is most commonly spoken in Hong Kong and Guangdong, where it is recognized as a lingua franca – a common language, but not necessarily a native language. It is also spoken in Malaysia and Macau.
As with Mandarin, there are many Cantonese media ready to be consumed with enthusiasm. The Internet is full of Cantonese music, TV shows and other exciting content.
As with learning any language, learning Cantonese will allow you to communicate more deeply with native Cantonese speakers.
Mandarin is the official language of China
No wonder most Chinese learners prefer to learn Chinese. This is what most people automatically think of when they hear or say “Chinese”.
This is also the most widely spoken dialect in China. It is also the official language of Singapore and Taiwan.
Although there are several regional varieties of Mandarin, they are all understandable to any native speaker of Chinese.
All that is required of the student is a little exposure, the practice of listening comprehension, and the tuning of the ears to be able to distinguish and understand different accents and dialects of Chinese from each other.
Since Mandarin is the official language of three countries, it is also the language of most Chinese films, TV programs and music.
Using Simplified and Traditional Characters
There are two different Chinese writing systems: Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
I won’t go into the history of each, but basically Traditional Chinese was the most commonly used writing system for centuries until the 1950s and 60s.
In 1949, the Chinese Communist Party announced Simplified Chinese as the new common writing system to reform the nation.
But that doesn’t mean that not many people (or places) still use traditional symbols today. Cantonese speakers mostly use traditional characters. In fact, it is the most commonly used writing system in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
Chinese uses simplified characters. But, as with many Chinese dialects, traditional and simplified characters are recognizable and fairly easy to read no matter which system a person uses the most. For example, Chinese speakers in China can read most traditional characters and vice versa.
Examples of simplified characters
我 你 你 你 你 (wǒ ài nǐ) – I love you
我 学 中文 中文 中文 中文 中文 中文 (wǒ xǐ huān xué zhōng wén) – I like to study Chinese
我 美国人 美国人 (wǒ shì Mhange Guó Rén) – I am an American
Examples of traditional characters
我 愛 你 你 你 你 你 (wǒ ài nǐ) – I love you
我 學 中文 中文 中文 中文 (wǒ xǐ huān xué zhōng wén) – I like to study Chinese
是 是 是 是 是 是 是 是 是 是 我 我 我 我 我 我 我 我 我 我 我 我 我美國人 (wǒ shì měi guó rén) – I am American
Romanization Systems: Pinyin vs. Jiutping
Pinyin learning Chinese can save you the trouble of understanding characters. It is a system of romanization of Chinese words and tones that tells students how to pronounce them.
However, it was not created for this purpose. Pinyin was invented in the 1950s to help improve Chinese literacy rates.
But did you know that Cantonese has its own romanization system? It’s called Yutpin.
Like Pinyin, Jiutping uses the Latin alphabet to write Cantonese words and uses signs and numbers to represent tones.
There are three types of Jyutping: Yale, Sydney Lau and LSHK Jyutping.
The Yale Jyutping uses diacritics to represent tones (like pinyin) and is the most commonly used type.
Sidney Lau Judping uses numbers to represent tones (eg neih3 hou2) and used to be the most common type. It is not as popular now, but is still used in many old textbooks.
LSHK Jyutping is very similar to Sidney Lau in that it uses numbers to represent tones. However, it also includes some refinements to some of the pronunciations. This is the newest type of jutpin that is promoted and recommended by the Hong Kong Linguistic Society.
Examples of pinyin
As we have previously established, pinyin is the spelling of Chinese words in English letters.
In case you haven’t noticed, pinyin is the English spelling we put in brackets and italics on our Chinese FluentU blogs.
Example:
我喜歡學中文 (wǒ xǐ huān xué zhōng wén) – I enjoy learning Chinese.
Did you notice pinyin?
wǒ xǐ huān xué zhōng wén is a perfect example of what pinyin looks like.
Examples of jutting
Let’s take a look at the two most commonly used jutting systems in Cantonese.
Yale Yutping
你叫做乜野名呀 (néih giu jouh mātyéh méng a?) – What’s your name?
Sidney Lau Jyutping
你叫做乜野名呀 (neih3 giu jouh ma1tyeh3 meng2 a?) – What’s your name?
Once again, you can spot the jutting by noticing the difference in tonal markings and italics.
Now that you know the basic differences, you probably have a better idea of which dialect of Chinese you want to learn.
But of course it is important to think about where you plan to use your newly acquired language skills and with whom you want to communicate.

Chinese language courses in Moscow
It is believed that all oriental languages are extremely difficult to learn, especially compared to European ones. Indeed, if you already know English at one level or another, it will be easier for you to deal with, for example, German, and after Spanish, you can safely take on Portuguese or Italian, because there are some similarities between these languages. Those who are just starting to get acquainted with Chinese immediately understand that all the knowledge gained earlier is simply not applicable here. Everything else: from the alphabet to grammar.
Nevertheless, there are enough examples of how people – completely ordinary, not linguists and not professors – successfully mastered the Chinese language and began to actively use it in their personal lives, studies or work. Try it too! And Capital School Center will be happy to help you.
Ten reasons to learn Chinese
Despite all the difficulties, the interest in learning Chinese is only growing every year. Many argue that this language is necessary for all modern professionals and specialists, especially those who work in technical fields. However, this is far from the only reason why Russians grab textbooks and begin to memorize Chinese characters.
Reason one: the prevalence of Chinese
Since China is the most populous country in the world, it is not surprising that its official language is spoken by a very large number of people, just under one and a half billion people. Most of them use Mandarin Chinese in speech. In general, this language is spoken by about 15% of the world’s population.
Reason two: Mandarin is common outside of China
Mandarin is the most widely spoken dialect in China. It is known and used not only in the country itself, but also in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Mongolia, Taiwan and the Philippines.
Reason three: learning Chinese is not that difficult to handle
Yes, we said that this language is not so simple, but it cannot be called the most difficult in the world. In Chinese, there are no verbs, respectively tenses and conjugations, too, there is no plural. In addition, although there are more than 80 thousand characters in it, the average Chinese uses no more than 3500 in everyday life.
Reason four: Chinese will be useful for studying0002 International experts in the field of higher education are convinced that in the next few years, China will be among the leading academic centers in the world.
Modern universities operate in this country, equipped with the best equipment, many times superior in quality to European ones.
Chinese educational institutions are always ready to accept students from anywhere in the world, including Russia.
It is worth noting that Chinese universities are adopting the practice of European ones, inviting English-speaking teachers to teach foreign students. However, not all universities have such an opportunity, therefore, with knowledge of only English, the choice of a university will be very limited.
Reason five: Chinese will be useful for running a successful business
There is no denying that China today is one of the largest business centers in the world. On its territory there are representative offices of many corporations from Europe and the USA; products are manufactured here for a variety of companies. The volume of exports of Chinese goods is increasing noticeably every year, and trade and economic ties with this country are growing accordingly. Of course, corporate executives are fluent in English, but it is always more pleasant to communicate in their native language. In addition, showing such respect for China and its culture will undoubtedly please partners and clients.
Reason six: knowing Chinese will open up new opportunities for you
Knowledge of this language is useful not only for those who plan to study or work in China itself. At the moment, this knowledge is not yet widespread, so those who speak Chinese will be worth their weight in gold for many employers. The ability to speak it fluently will set you apart from other competitors for a position in a large international company.
Seventh reason: a large number of interactive ways of learning
In the course of teaching Chinese (as well as many other foreign languages), interactive materials and manuals can be widely used to replace or supplement classical textbooks. For this reason, classes can become more interesting and exciting. By the way, this approach is also actively used in the Capital School Center, which we will discuss in more detail below.
Reason eight: rich Chinese culture
The culture of China is one of the most ancient in the world. Literature, cinema and other art forms are widely developed in this country. Some of them are available in Russian translation, but not all of them. In addition, as you know, watching films and reading books in the original is always more interesting, because this way you will better understand them and appreciate all the artistic richness of the work.
Reason nine: those who dream of traveling will need Chinese
China is a country with a long history, as evidenced by the numerous monuments and attractions that are located in the country. Of course, in tourist centers you can easily communicate in English, but this will limit your options. With even a basic level of Chinese, you can travel around smaller cities, meet the locals, and learn from them what guidebooks won’t tell you.
Reason ten: Chinese is interesting and exciting
Some people learn Chinese purely out of curiosity, even though it’s not easy. Firstly, it helps to discover a new and unusual world of China, unlike anything else. Secondly, in such classes you actively use memory and attention, that is, train your brain. And this in itself is a great benefit for the body.
The process of learning languages can also be fun and enjoyable if the program is built in the right way. Therefore, before choosing a training format and a suitable school, pay attention to a number of important aspects.
How to choose the right school?
When choosing a school to teach Chinese, keep the following in mind.
The format of classes must suit you unconditionally
You can study Chinese in a group or individually, at school or via Skype. Capital School Center provides all these options, the program and teaching materials are the same, so the choice is yours.
Learning Chinese in groups is loved by sociable and open-minded people who want not only to gain knowledge, but also to make new friends. Also, a competitive spirit easily appears in such courses. Active and ambitious extroverts always want to be the first in everything, so they spend more time and diligence on classes, as a result of which they achieve success faster.
But some students find it hard to do such classes because of their nature. They are distracted by the presence of other students or even embarrassed by the fact that unfamiliar people can hear their mistakes in pronunciation, and so on. It is more difficult for such students to open up in a team, they begin to spend a lot of moral strength on getting used to a new company, and because of this, their studies suffer.
The big advantage of private courses is that you can learn Chinese at your own pace.
At your request, the teacher can focus on the most difficult topics or, on the contrary, pay less attention to the easy ones.
You may also need special knowledge, such as special vocabulary for study or work.
Finding a group that shares your interests is not always possible, so private lessons are your only option.
If for one reason or another you are unable to study Chinese at our school, we are ready to offer lessons via Skype.
They are also based on our classical curriculum and taught by top Chinese teachers.
On the other hand, you can save a lot of time on the road, and in general, take training, being at the same time anywhere in the world.
The program and methodology must suit you.
As we have repeatedly mentioned, Chinese is not among the simple ones. There were times when people never managed to master it.
We at the Capital School Center are convinced that the wrong program is to blame.
All language courses at our school are based on the 4D methodology, which is our know-how.
Its essence lies in the fact that in the course of classes you use visual, tactile, auditory and muvial memory.
Thus, you are better immersed in the educational process, and memorization occurs at several levels at once.
Interactive SMART-panels help us to implement this technique, where you can do exercises on Chinese grammar and vocabulary, move words and letters.
This technique has proven itself well and brought our company a number of prestigious awards. However, what is much more important is that she has helped hundreds of students to master foreign languages!
You must like the teacher himself
Even if the teacher is the most experienced and qualified, he may not suit you because of his character, temperament or even manner of speaking. Anything happens!
Therefore, before signing up for courses, get to know the teacher. You can do this at a free trial lesson, which is arranged by many schools, including the Capital School Center.
In an hour you will be able to appreciate all the advantages of our center and its teachers, as well as see our unique methodology in action.
If everything suits you, we will be happy to immediately conclude an agreement with you for further lessons!
Learning Chinese on your own is very difficult, almost impossible.
It will not be easy to master the hieroglyphic writing and grammar or improve pronunciation without the help of a teacher. Repetitive mistakes, difficulties in the perception of the material can discourage you from all desire to continue classes.
To get the most out of learning, we recommend enrolling in a language school.
The choice of such educational institutions in the capital alone is very large, and we will be very happy if you make it in our favor!
We are ready to answer any of your questions by phone or via the form on the right. Come study with us!

The Chinese language is really gaining popularity and it turns out to be needed by a lot of people working in the field of business, international trade and relations. Knowledge of this language will open up new horizons for you, the opportunity to live, study in one of the most developed countries in Asia, as well as do business with Chinese partners.
1. Chinese is the most spoken language in the world
Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world with around 1,197,000,000 speakers, 873,000 of whom speak Mandarin Chinese (Northern Chinese). Thus, Chinese speakers make up 14% of all inhabitants of the planet.
2. Mandarin is not only spoken in China
If we are to learn an Asian language, then it is worth learning Chinese! Why? Just imagine, you will learn the language in which you can communicate, study and work in all these countries.
3. Learning Chinese is easier than you think
Most of us find the Chinese language very complex and difficult to learn. Not surprising, because it is really far from the European languages we are used to. However, do not be afraid to learn Chinese – it is far from the most difficult language in the world! It has no verbs, no plurals, no tenses, and even no conjugations. The language has over 80,000 characters, but only 3,500 of them are used in everyday life.
4. Chinese is useful for studying

Language courses in China are a great opportunity to get acquainted with the history and authentic culture of the Middle Kingdom. Schools offer students not only to learn Chinese, but also to touch the ancient traditions – in their free time, they conduct calligraphy workshops, tea ceremonies and excursions along the Great Wall of China. Also, courses at universities are available in the country, after which you can enter a university without language exams.
Benefits of language courses in China
- Small groups. Classes in Chinese language schools are held in very small groups – no more than 5 people on average. Therefore, teachers devote more time and attention to each individual student.
- Opportunity to study in two cities. Major chain schools in China offer students courses in two cities where they have branches.
- University courses. Most of the options for learning Chinese in the country are at university centers. Upon completion of such courses, the university can accept a student without an additional language exam.
- Classic Chinese. Chinese has many dialects that are very different from each other. But language schools and university courses teach Mandarin, or putonghua, the official version of the language.
- Rich culture. China is a country with a unique history, ancient traditions and incredible nature. There are a lot of cultural heritage sites here, more than 50 of which are included in the UNESCO [1] list. And the Great Wall of China is considered one of the “new wonders of the world” [2] .
Disadvantages of language courses in China
- High prices. The average cost of courses in China is 465 USD per week, which is comparable to prices in the US, where a week of courses costs about 430 USD on average. For comparison, the cost of courses in Hong Kong is 301 USD per week, and in Japan – 297 USD per week.
- Language complexity. Chinese is one of the most difficult languages to learn. It will take a long time to master it. Therefore, students have to choose long-term programs. And this leads to additional costs for both training and living.
- Dialects. Chinese has many dialects: Beijing, Taiwanese, Shanghainese, Nanjing, Fujian and many others. Schools teach “classical” Chinese, but when studying, for example, in Shanghai or Guangzhou, a student of language courses may have difficulty communicating outside of school.
- Natural disasters. The southern and eastern regions of China are often subject to devastating typhoons, tsunamis and floods, while the northern regions suffer from sandstorms every spring.

In the first half of the day, students study Chinese – they study grammar, vocabulary and learn to pronounce words correctly, and in the afternoon they visit museums and galleries, amusement parks, go on excursions to the Great Wall of China and other sights of the Middle Kingdom. The activities are held in Chinese for additional practice.
Summer programs last 2-4 weeks. Students live in host families or school residences. The price of the course also includes three meals a day and a meeting at the airport.
University courses
Chinese in China can be learned at university centers. As a rule, training in them lasts from a semester to a year. Unlike many other countries in the world, where universities offer mostly academic courses to prepare for study, in China the choice of programs at universities is wider. They offer both intensive and preparatory courses for passing the HSK, as well as business Chinese and summer family camps. Students with any level of training are allowed to study.
Some universities accept certificates for their language courses as equivalent to the international Chinese exam. Students can enroll in the 1st year undergraduate degree without the need to confirm their Chinese level.

Features of admission to language schools in China
Enrollment in language schools takes place all year round. Classes for beginners start twice a month, and for students with a higher level – every week, from Monday. There are usually two waves of enrollment for courses at universities: in May-June (for the autumn semester) and November-January (for the spring semester). Check the exact dates of deadlines on the official website of the selected school or university.
The process of enrolling in Chinese language schools is not much different from that in other countries. For admission you need:
- choose the right course
- fill out an application on the official website of the school,
- if necessary, pass an entrance test to determine the level of the language,
- sign an agreement
- pay tuition fees, registration and other school fees,
- receive an invitation from an educational institution,
- apply for a visa.
The process of enrolling in courses at some universities is similar – students fill out a form on the website, pay for tuition and receive an invitation to courses. In other universities, you will additionally need to provide a copy of the international passport, legalized education documents, a health certificate and other documents.
Admission must take into account the refund policy when canceling or rescheduling a course. In some schools, you will have to pay about 70 USD to change the start date, in others, the registration fee or part of the program cost will be withheld.
When choosing a school, pay attention to the region where it is located. The fact is that Chinese has many dialects that differ greatly from each other. To study the most general and universal variant of the language – Mandarin or “Putonghua” it is worth choosing a school in Beijing or Shanghai, and for studying Cantonese it is best to go to Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
Language courses in China
In China, you can learn Chinese at language schools and universities. Courses at universities, as a rule, are long and are aimed exclusively at learning the language or preparing for entrance examinations. However, some universities offer a greater variety of programs, including calligraphy workshops or summer camps for the whole family. Also, the groups in them are quite large – on average, about 15-20 people.
Classes in language schools are more varied. In addition to standard and intensive courses, they offer special preparatory programs for passing HSK, business Chinese and various electives, so that each student finds the right program for himself. Regardless of the type of course, in the classroom, students learn the phonetic rules and tones of the Chinese language, simplified and traditional characters, as well as the grammatical and lexical structure of the language.
Upon arrival at the school, students are tested. Based on the results, they are divided into groups by levels. Some schools offer to take the entrance exam online before coming to China.
Classes in language schools are held in small groups – on average no more than 5 people. The teacher has enough time to find an individual approach to each student. Some programs also include private lessons. This helps to better work out the moments that cause difficulties.
During the course, students take several intermediate tests, as well as a final exam. Upon completion of the course, both at the language school and at the university, they are issued certificates.
The Chinese language has about 50 dialects, which in turn are subdivided into dialects [3] . But courses at language schools and universities in China teach Mandarin, which is considered the official and normative variant – it is understood throughout China, as well as at UN conferences.
Language schools organize leisure activities for their students. Recreational and cultural activities are often included in the curriculum. Students explore the city and surroundings, go to museums and exhibitions, amusement parks and visit historical sites in China. The schools also have master classes in the traditional Chinese art of calligraphy, where students master the art of beautiful writing. All extra-curricular activities are held in Chinese and allow additional practice of the language. Also on the campus of many schools you can play sports or join an interest club.
Check school websites for additional costs.
