    Each child is entitled one tuition-free week (equivalent to the number of days you are scheduled to attend each week) per year. If more than one week is taken, full tuition is due for each subsequent absence.

    Child psychologist – who is it and what does it treat, at what age can you visit a psychologist

    Children, just like adults, often face various psychological problems. The help of parents alone is often not enough. Professional support is required, which can be provided by a child psychologist. Such a specialist acts as a kind of intermediary between the child and his parents. The task of a professional often includes establishing an emotional connection between them, which makes it easy to overcome all psychological difficulties. The help of a child psychologist is also relevant when a child communicates with peers.

    Professional support provides:

    • Normal personality development
    • Eliminate all internal conflicts
    • Harmonious state of the child in any conditions

    Do not think that sometimes only a schoolboy or teenager needs help. An unfavorable emotional state can also occur at an earlier age. It is important for parents to notice it in a timely manner and contact a specialist.

    What does a child psychologist treat?

    Child psychologists help with:

    • Overcoming typical age-related problems
    • Determination of the individual characteristics and abilities of the child (including his character)
    • Building relationships with peers, parents and loved ones

    Psychological support is relevant if the child suffers from:

    • Night terrors
    • Poor appetite
    • Restless sleep
    • Mood changes
    • Developmental delays (including speech disorders)
    • Fear of communication
    • Bad habits (biting nails, sucking fingers, etc. )
    • Fear of the dark, etc.

    Psychologists deal with the elimination of a number of other problems.

    What is the scope of a specialist?

    A child psychologist is a specialist who provides psychological assistance. Such a professional does not have a higher medical education. A psychologist should not be confused with a psychotherapist. Unlike doctors, these specialists cannot prescribe medications.

    The scope of the specialists’ activities includes mainly counseling parents and working with children to solve local problems.

    Among them:

    • Various fears (including after physical violence in the family)
    • Depressive and anxiety conditions
    • Stressful conditions after traumatic emotional events (loss of a parent, for example)
    • Weak will
    • Disorganized
    • Carelessness
    • Hyperactivity
    • Communication difficulties
    • Aggressive behavior in standard and stress situations
    • Difficulties of adaptation in kindergarten, at school, in any unfamiliar groups
    • Closure
    • Loss of contact with parents (including after a conflict)

    Together with other specialists, child psychologists are engaged in the adaptation of children in society, eliminate speech problems (including stuttering), and help a child who has fallen into a family of foster parents.

    The difference between a child psychologist and other specialists

    Child psychologists help children with mental health problems. Psychiatrists deal with mental disorders. Only they can diagnose serious pathologies and treat them using a special regimen and prescribing medications.

    Psychologists and defectologists are not. A psychologist will not be able to independently eliminate the causes of developmental delay, for example. The specialist will not help with speech disorders. He can only help the child at the stage of treatment, support him, set him up for a positive outcome, explain that nothing terrible has happened, and any deviations are not a serious problem.

    Just like psychotherapists and other doctors, psychologists work not only with children, but also with parents, since very often the roots of problems lie precisely in the relationship of children and adolescents with adults.

    Of course, the highest results can be achieved when you immediately contact your child with a psychologist and other specialists (with medical education). A team of specialists is able to both eliminate existing problems and prevent their occurrence in the future. Also, several professionals can perform the prevention of the development of a number of pathological conditions.

    When should I contact a child psychologist?

    You should contact a child psychologist as soon as possible, as soon as you notice any changes in the emotional state or behavior of the child. It is important to understand that even causeless tears and small whims are a kind of request for help from children. Changes in the child’s condition should not be attributed to the usual spoiledness or difficult character, some age factors or other reasons. So you can miss the moment when it is easy enough to eliminate the psycho-emotional conflict.

    You should contact a child psychologist if:

    • Child is reserved and shy. Such problems are often directly related to the child’s negative perception of his own personality and appearance. They should be overcome as early as possible. Otherwise, shyness and isolation can lead to the fact that the child will constantly experience stress and will not be able to adapt to a new environment. Over time, the problems will only get worse.0012
    • Hyperactivity . This problem usually occurs in children of preschool and primary school age. Excessive activity is manifested in the fact that the child often becomes simply uncontrollable. It is difficult to calm him down, to captivate him with some business. The child becomes more and more restless, cannot concentrate, pay attention to details. This affects his academic performance, creative development, character formation. Often, excessive activity leads to misunderstanding with parents. The task of a child psychologist when working with a hyperactive child is to provide comprehensive support. The specialist should teach the child to properly manage energy, control mood, spend leisure time in an interesting and useful way
    • Anxiety and fears . Fear of loneliness, darkness, various monsters and other fictional characters is considered normal for children. In fact, fantasies and fears are not the same thing. If the child is just fantasizing, but not afraid, there is no cause for concern. But if the baby is really scared, you should consult a specialist, as fears can harm an unstable psyche at an early age. Often seemingly harmless fears develop into serious phobias. A timely trip to a professional allows not only to eliminate fears, but also to prevent their occurrence in the future
    • Aggressiveness . Aggression in a child can be provoked by a variety of problems. Only a specialist can identify and eliminate the causes of unmotivated aggression. If you do not turn to a professional, the child can harm himself and others. No one likes that there is a baby nearby who bites and fights, for example. They simply refuse to communicate with the child. He himself will not understand why this is happening, which will provoke even more pronounced aggression. As a result, the child will grow up cruel and quick-tempered. The task of a psychologist when working with aggressive young patients is to remove psychological barriers, eliminate anxiety and other causes of aggression
    • Poor academic performance . All children are bright individuals. Some people are better at mathematics and physics, while others are better at Russian language and literature. But there are no children who generally perform poorly in all disciplines without psychological or other problems. If the child does not have a diagnosis of “mental retardation”, you should contact a psychologist. Most likely, the reasons for poor academic performance are fear of speaking, conflicts with teachers or classmates, lack of concentration, etc. It is important for a specialist to find out why a child does not study well and help the student to overcome all difficulties

    You should also contact a child psychologist after serious traumatic situations.

    These include:

    • Internal family problems: death of relatives, frequent quarrels, conflicts, divorce of parents, birth of a second child
    • External factors: military actions, floods, earthquakes, etc.

    You should not refuse to contact a specialist, even if the traumatic situation occurred a long time ago. The child may never forget it without help.

    Important! Internal conflicts that are not resolved in time affect the psychological health of even people who have grown up a long time ago. The affected child may grow into an aggressive adult who is withdrawn, unable or unwilling to communicate with others, shy in public speaking, and has other problems. Make sure that your child is not only happy now, but also able to fully grow, develop and realize himself already in adulthood.

    How does a child psychologist work?

    A child psychologist is a specialist who is able to provide a child with a harmonious and correct perception of not only his personality, but also the environment. For this reason, a professional should be able to find contact with children with any problems and skillfully build trusting relationships with young patients and their parents.

    The initial consultation always starts with a simple conversation. The specialist should establish contact with the child and his parents. Then a psychological diagnosis is carried out. Its results allow you to identify all existing problems (including hidden ones).

    Also, at the first consultation, the specialist determines:

    • How the future work will go
    • In what directions will the activity be carried out
    • How many sessions (approximately) will be required to achieve the desired result

    Today, child psychologists use numerous techniques, which are often combined with each other. Classes are held not only individually, but also in groups.

    If parents bring a baby to an appointment with a psychologist, the work is carried out in a playful, easy way. The specialist pays special attention to creating a comfortable atmosphere. Only in such conditions the child can relax and open up.

    In their work, psychologists use:

    • Art therapy
    • Methods of educational conversation
    • Active dialog format

    If the child psychologist understands that the problem of his little patient is deep, has a mental character, a psychotherapist is involved in the work. In the presence of developmental deviations, speech and other problems, pathologies associated with sleep disturbance, speech therapists, somnologists and other specialists are involved.

    In the absence of mental illness, regular sessions with a psychologist allow you to cope with even the most complex psychological problems. Maximum effectiveness can be achieved with the active position of the child’s parents. If they are ready to devote time to their child, constantly help him, then the problems will be eliminated quickly enough.

    Education in France: system, cost, duration ‹ GO Blog

    According to the state agency CampusFrance , France ranks third in the world, after the US and the UK, in terms of the number of foreign students. And this is not surprising, since the country is highly valued by the level of education and the approach to organizing the educational process.

    The education system in France consists of 4 key stages – preschool, primary, secondary and higher education.

    Let’s take a closer look at each educational stage:

    Pre-school education (Éducation préscolaire)

    Pre-school education in France practically does not differ from kindergartens in Russia. Children are divided into three age groups. In the younger group (from 2 to 4 years old), kids play developing games. In the middle group (from 4 to 5 years old), children learn oral communication skills and learn practical skills such as modeling, drawing and singing. And in the older group, young students (from 5 to 6 years old) are already preparing for school, learning to read, write and count.

    School education (Enseignement primaire)

    At the age of six, children go to primary school for 5 years. Primary education in France forms the basic basic knowledge in children and is divided into the following stages:

    CP (Cours préparatoire) – A preparatory course that lasts one year. At the end of the school year, children should already be able to read and write. After that, students master two initial courses – C.E.1 (cours elementaire 1 – elementary course 1), C.E.2 (cours elementaire 2 – elementary course 2), and two secondary educational courses – C.M.1 (cours moyen 1) and C.M.2 (cours moen 2).

    The education system for these cycles provides for 5 main areas of education:

    – French;

    – fundamentals of social life;

    – mathematics;

    – knowledge of the world;

    – art education;

    Upon completion of elementary school, students take exams and receive a Certificate of Primary Education (CEP).

    Secondary education (Enseignement secondaire)

    Secondary education in France lasts 7 years and consists of two blocks: college and lyceum.

    College

    In France, classes count backwards. College education lasts four years (from the sixth to the third grade) and is conducted in three cycles:

    1. Adaptation

    Children adapt to new standards of learning, consolidate knowledge and prepare for independent learning.

    1. Central

    Students deepen their knowledge and skills. Preparations for choosing a professional direction begin.

    1. Orientation

    Children are preparing for the choice of specialization, in which they will study at a lyceum, and then at a university or higher school.

    Lyceum

    After graduating from college, students go to high school – lyceum, where they study for 3 years. Here they receive secondary education in the chosen specialty and prepare for admission to the university. There are several types of lyceums:

    vocational and apprentice training centers (CFA ) – here students receive secondary specialized education. Based on the results of the exams, a general baccalaureate (BAC) is issued. If you have the opportunity and desire, you can continue your education in universities.

    general education (general) and technological (technologique) – a kind of preparatory course for entering universities in the chosen specialty.

    General education lyceums are subdivided into:

    – philological;

    – sociological;

    – economic;

    – natural sciences.

    Technological lyceums are:

    – service;

    – scientific and industrial;

    – medical and social;

    – laboratory research

    After studying in lyceums, students are issued a certificate of graduation from the lyceum and a Bachelor’s degree (baccalaureat). Based on this document, students can enter universities.

    Higher education (Enseignement supérieur)

    In France, higher education consists of two main cycles – short and long, and an additional cycle.

    Short cycle

    The training lasts 2 years, after which the diplomas DEUG (general university education) or DEUST (scientific and technical university education) are issued. Both documents give the right to continue their studies at the university.

    Long cycle

    Training lasts 2-3 years. After the first year of study, a licentiate degree is awarded, after the second – a master’s degree, and after the third year – an engineer. For most students, this becomes a completed higher education.

    Additional cycle

    This is a postgraduate cycle that includes special education and research work. Upon completion, a diploma of higher specialized education is issued – DESS (Diplome d’Etudes Superieres Specialisees), which allows you to continue professional activities in the relevant field or a research diploma – DEA (Diplome d’etudes approfondies) with which you can continue academic scientific work and enter doctoral studies .

    The cost of education in France

    France is one of the few countries where high-quality and prestigious higher education can be obtained almost free of charge. In state universities, you only need to pay an annual fee, which is only from 200 to 700 euros. In private universities and higher schools, the cost of education varies from 8,000 to 20,000 euros per year.
