Child Development Center | Hillsborough Community College

As a teaching lab school, children benefit from the school readiness program prepared and implemented by our highly trained early childhood staff. Students also benefit from HCC students enrolled in the Early Childhood classes. We provide a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children.

Our mission is to provide students, staff and faculty with campus-based, affordable and accessible quality child care for children ages two to five years old. The center’s philosophy is based on a developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) model. The Child Development Center is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). It is also a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)-approved center and partners with:

  • Early Literacy Matters (ELM)
  • Hillsborough County School Readiness programs
  • University of South Florida Positive Social Skills Teaching project
  • Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County Quality Counts for Kids project

The Child Development Center has earned the Department of Children and Families Gold Seal award as well as a five-star designation.

Who can use our services?
We provide child care to students, staff and faculty members from all campuses. We offer a reduced tuition rate for students who are Pell Grant eligible.
