Spring Festival Morning Session
Parents, grandparents, and younger siblings joined their child’s class on the playground for a wonderful Spring Festival on the morning of May 11 , 2022.
Children from Ms. Zenaida, Ms. Cathy, Ms. Alba and Ms. Marjorie’s classes enjoyed moving to various craft and game stations. Parents did great supporting their child with the crafts and keeping them with their group.
An impromptu dancing station helped children enjoy the time between stations.
The colorful tents and beautiful spring and recycling theme artwork of the children displayed around the perimeter created a festive feeling.
Parking was manageable thanks to the VFW taking our overflow.
Thanks to Little Pizza Heaven, parents were able to pre-order delicious pizza’s to enjoy with their child and friends.
Spring Festival Afternoon Session
Children from Ms. Hiromi, Ms. Jacquie, and Ms. Cassandra’s older classes were joined by their families on the playground for a wonderful Spring Festival on the afternoon of May 11 , 2022.
As older children, they managed crafts and game stations with a lot more independence than the younger groups, but parents still joined in making crafts and playing games with their child. This age enjoyed doing more detailed work on their crafts and played games that were a little more challenging than the morning session. The beanbag toss was still the favored activity, though.
The colorful tents and beautiful spring and recycling theme related artwork of the children displayed around the perimeter created a festive feeling.
Parking was again manageable thanks to the VFW taking our overflow.
Moe from Little Pizza Heaven stayed out in the sun for 4 hours to cook delicious pizzas pre-ordered by parents, which many enjoyed during the festivities.
Overall the Spring Festival was a success!

About secondary education in the UK
Our expert’s impressions of visiting the school schools. Small in number (300 people in the school and only 80 in the boarding house), the school is ideal for foreign kids. She will become a real home for them, where the matron will bake chocolate brownies for her children in honor of the end of the week. And if one of her wards gets sick, she will not send him to the infirmary, but will leave him to spend the night next to him and give him hot milk and honey to drink. Read more

History
Established in 1930, the school is located on a 48 acre (194,000 m2) Newbridge estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland. Clifton Hall was originally opened as a traditional boarding preparatory school, with children aged five to thirteen.
The school was founded in 1930 when the joint owners-principals of the schools, formerly teachers at Merchiston Castle School, Richard Killick and Robert Ainsley recognized their first four boys as snowboarders. The depression made early growth difficult, but by the time Captain Ainslie left had found Blairmore School at 19The 37 year roll rose to 43, three of which were day boys. Owned by Richard Killick and financed by commission income (50 per semester from 1930 -? 1947) Clifton Hall’s early years were, by all accounts, a time when parents rarely saw their offspring for a period of time, and entrusted the care of their boys entirely to Richard and Mabel Killick. Rugby, cricket and Latin heavily into the curriculum, and with significant athletic and academic success, the school’s reputation has grown. Further development was abruptly halted by the war when the buildings and grounds were requisitioned by the Air Ministry, which made Clifton Hall the administrative headquarters for RAF Turnhouse. Apparently a decoy runway was built on adjacent fields to draw the German bombers away from the Turnhouse! The boys fled to Kinloch House, Amulree, Perthshire, the home of Lord Salvesen, Mabel’s cousin. The school remained intact; both physically and from the point of view of the students, whose parents must be delighted with the shelter of their boys. After the war, the school grew rapidly to its then capacity of about 100 snowboarders from 8 – 13 years old. New rooms and amenities are being added, and the number of teachers has increased. New playgrounds have been created. The children were taught citizenship: living together in this small community gave a unique opportunity to learn the skills of sharing and team spirit. Richard Killick retired at 1958 leaving the stable school that he has nurtured since his conception. His successor, Walter Mitchell, continued in the same vein including some ambitious school trips across Europe in Ford Prefect, but tragically died of leukemia shortly after his failing health forced him to retire. A teacher from Cargilfield, George Mathewson, then designed the school from 1962 until 1984. Over the years he has built and upgraded including a swimming pool, game room and science lab. In 1964, the school ceased to be proprietary and became a company limited by guarantee managed by a Board of Governors, as it is today. He noticed trends from all boys/all boardings and entered girls, weekly boardings, day kids and lowered the entry age to 5. In a period of rapid change in the roll from all boardings, from boys to mixed boarding, and from seniors to juniors, David Berkeley spearheaded the three years. He and his wife Trish have traveled the world in search of boundaries and, in the face of all trends, have managed to maintain a healthy pupil count. Mark Adams was appointed at 1987 year. The trend towards younger, day-time children continued: The Kindergarten, opened in January 1989, has become one of the school’s main entry points. Full boarding was stopped in 1994 and weekly boarding stopped in 1996. The school’s age range was adjusted from 3-13 to 3-11 in 1995 and in many ways a new school came into being. Rod Grant became director in 2005, just as Clifton Hall celebrated its 75th anniversary (and becomes only the fifth director in its history). In 2008, Clifton Hall merged with another small private school, St Cerf’s. The St. Serfs building, located in Edinburgh’s Roseburn Street, was sold, and the proceeds from the sale were invested in the restoration of Clifton Hall and the provision, for the first time, of a secondary education. Over the next 5 years the school tripled, and for the academic year 2013-14 started with 340 students.
Buildings
The school occupies a 19th century, category A-listed building. It was built in 1850 to designs by David Bryce for the Maitland family, who inherited the property in 1786. An old house, possibly from the late 16th century, underlies the structure, although it has been completely rebuilt in the style of the Scottish barons.
