About the Provider
Description: Childtime’s educational philosophy is based on the Reggio Emilia approach, named after the Italian city and the surrounding villages where the method took root after World War II. Central to this philosophy is the belief that secure relationships with responsive and respectful adults provide the basis for all learning. With these relationships in place, children develop a capacity for trust, competence and independence that helps them grow as students and people.

What did Agnes Whiteland really see?

At the beginning of the 20th century, in the small town of Aldborough in Suffolk, Great Britain, there lived a woman named Agnes Wyland. She was a respectable housewife and spent all her time at home, raising several children.
When the First World War began (1914-1918), Agnes’ husband went to fight, and she herself stayed with the children. One morning, as usual, she was busy with the housework, and then went out to the small balcony on the second floor of her house (according to another version, she looked out the window) to shake out the towel.
What she saw there made her freeze in place in surprise. Right next to her house, just above the level of the roof, a round platform with a diameter of about 3.5 meters was hanging in the air, the bottom of which was at least 30 cm thick. , 8 or 12 people. They were no doubt people, and not some strange creatures, and dressed in the same blue uniform, similar to the military uniform of the British of that era, but Agnes seemed “very strange”. On their heads they all wore blue hats that looked like caps. nine0003
The platform hung about 9 meters above the ground and made no sound. At first, the woman thought that she was lowered on ropes from somewhere above, but she did not see any ropes, cables or ropes.
On the platform, she didn’t see any propellers or anything that looked like an engine. Along the edge of the platform was a tubular steel fence that reached people to the waist.
The platform hovered near Agnes’s house for several minutes, and all this time the people on the platform stared into the distance. And then the platform suddenly disappeared somewhere. Agnes didn’t even notice how. nine0003
Agnes shared the strange sighting with her neighbors the same day, and after a while the rumors reached the local authorities, who became concerned that the strange observers could be enemy spies.
Several aviation experts were invited and told about Agnes’ sighting and asked what they thought she might have seen. The most common version was that the platform was lowered on cables from a German airship, and because of the morning fog, Agnes might not have noticed the cables. nine0003
However, the experts agreed that such a thing would be impossible. Rope-launched cabins were indeed included with some Zeppelins, but they were very small and could barely fit 1-2 people.
Therefore, after the theory arose that it could be an experimental German Zeppelin, much larger and with much larger descent platforms. However, even today there is no evidence of the existence of such a model of an airship.
Over the following years, Agnes was reproached by many for having dreamed of something or for having added something. However, the woman assured until her death that she saw exactly what she saw. nine0003
