We understand we operate a valuable service in our community and we take that responsibility very seriously. That is why the health and safety of our children and staff is of the utmost importance to us.

Please visit our FAQ page. We will make regular updates as new information becomes available.

Our Health and Safety Practices

We are closely following guidance from state and local officials and health authorities as we strive to maintain our safe, healthy school environment. Our team continues to be vigilant about consistently implementing our standard rigorous health and safety procedures. Protocols are subject to change as state regulations, federal guidance, and local pandemic conditions evolve. Please check with your local school to confirm whether elevated safeguards such as protective masks, limited building access and temperature checks are required.

Providing the best possible care now includes encouraging our employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Attendance

Overall, the best way to ensure our students have limited exposure to germs is by keeping children at home when they are ill and/or contagious. We ask that you please watch your child closely and contact your physician if your child appears to be feeling under the weather.  Please remember your child must be kept home if they display any signs of illness.

  • We observe the children’s health throughout the day and respond appropriately as needed if we detect any potential signs of illness.
  • If your child does become ill at school, we will call you immediately so they can be picked up as soon as possible. Should that occur, please be sure to pick up your child promptly for their well-being, and to help us limit the spread of illness.

Looking for Immediate Care?

Are you a family in need of drop-in care? Please contact our enrollment call center at 877.624.2602 for more information.

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Chesterfield Township learning center has closed its doors after a child tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said.

Childtime in Chesterfield Township will be closed for at least 14 days, officials said.

Local 4 received several tips about the case, and our Larry Spruill was able to confirm the story Wednesday afternoon.

“Nothing’s more important to us than the health and safety of our children, employees and school families,” a Childtime spokesperson said.

Officials became aware of the assumed positive diagnosis Wednesday. They are partnering with health experts to prevent the virus from spreading to the rest of the children associated with the learning center.

The building will be professionally cleaned and sanitized, according to officials.

“We are advising all members of our school community to avoid public places to minimize contact with others, and to reach out to their healthcare provider for additional instruction,” the release says.

What will happen if the child is not picked up from the kindergarten on time? |

Three years ago in Khabarovsk all kindergartens were transferred to a twelve-hour working day. Duty groups, where children waited for parents who were late from work, were closed. But the problem of picking up the baby from kindergarten on time has remained relevant for many. Can a parent be accused of improper performance of their duties and transfer the child to a juvenile inspector if the father or mother did not take him out of the group before the closing of the kindergarten, the Khabinfo correspondent found out. duty group duty group

The first kindergartens in Russia appeared in the nineteenth century. These were paid institutions for children from the privileged class. Almost simultaneously with them, free folk kindergartens were opened at charitable societies, where the children of housekeepers could go. And only in the USSR did the system of preschool education take on the form we know it today. Some kindergartens worked around the clock, and parents – the builders of a bright socialist future – could bring a child there on Monday and pick it up on Friday. Later, preschool institutions began to work for ten and a half hours – they accepted the kids at half past seven in the morning, and they had to be picked up before six in the evening. Anyone who did not arrive on time was transferred to the duty group. So it was in Khabarovsk, but in 2019year everything changed.

“Three years ago we switched the last ten kindergartens to a twelve-hour working day,” says Tatyana Matveenkova, head of the education department of the Khabarovsk administration. — This work was carried out systematically for several years and cost the budget a lot of money. After all, now children will need to be fed not three, but four times a day, in addition, the hours of work of educators and nannies have increased, and they also had to revise the payment system. We did this at the request and for the convenience of the parents. Now the preschool institution itself decides whether to work from seven in the morning to seven in the evening, or from eight in the morning to eight in the evening. Kindergarten interviews parents and does as requested by the majority. duty group

Kindergarten “Verboton” is open from 7:00 to 19:00. About two hundred and fifty boys and girls go to it. Their parents have recently received a notice to pick up their children on time, otherwise the garden administrator on duty may call the police to locate the parents and give the child to a state institution. Some people were outraged by this document.

“It’s just some kind of intimidation of parents,” says Maria Ermakova from Khabarovsk. – And so almost every day you go to kindergarten under stress, afraid of being late. I have a working day until seven, with my husband, it happens, and even later, we have to take time off from work, but what if you are standing in a traffic jam? You come to the garden, so they scold you like a little one, if you come ten or fifteen minutes later than seven. Yes, I understand that the teacher also needs to go home, but earlier, with the eldest son, we did not have time to pick him up and paid for the duty group, and there were no problems. And now there is no duty group, and there is no opportunity to stay at home with him, and we do not have grandparents.

In Verboton Kindergarten they say that the police have not been called once in all thirty years of the institution’s operation. And now they were not going to do this, they simply tried to appeal to the conscience of parents who systematically take their children late. The wording of the notice may have been rather harsh for some, but the garden operated strictly within the law.

“Our teachers love the children they work with, and, of course, sit with them if their parents are late,” says Marina Zakirova, deputy head for educational and methodological work of the Verboton kindergarten. “But they also have families, children, grandchildren with whom they need to spend time, there are household chores – doing laundry, washing dishes, cooking dinner. Many of them live far away, they also have to drive home through traffic jams.

If the parents are half an hour late, the teacher has less personal time, and he still has to come to work by seven in the morning the next morning. By detaining an educator, we violate labor laws. Now, in connection with this situation, we will conduct a survey among parents to find out from what time, in their opinion, the kindergarten should work. Perhaps we will work from 7.15 to 19.15. But there are parents for whom these 15 minutes in the morning are also important if they have to work by eight. And we will think about creating a duty group, where we will provide paid services. But this issue needs to be worked out.

As for calling the police, if parents do not rush to pick up their children, the kindergarten not only can, but must contact the authorities, explained the education department. After all, it’s one thing when dad or mom is always in touch with the teacher, they call and say that they are already on the road, and they are delayed due to traffic jams. But there are times when the legal representatives of the child use strong drinks or illegal substances and simply forget to come for him. What should the teacher do if the mother does not answer the phone and it is impossible to reach her by any number?

Previously, a kindergarten employee could take a child to his home, and no one objected to this (well, except for the teacher himself). Today, such an act can be accused of pedophilia or kidnapping. Leave a child with a caretaker? Also not an option. In general, according to the law, the garden is responsible for children exactly until the end of the working day. If the institution is open until 19.00, and the parent did not pick up the son or daughter before that time, the kindergarten is no longer responsible if something happens to the child. The legal representatives of the minor, that is, the parents, are responsible. duty group

“We don’t have many such cases, but they do exist,” says Tatyana Matveenkova, head of the education department of the Khabarovsk administration. – We, of course, do not advertise them, but last year we called the police to kindergartens about a dozen times to establish the whereabouts of the parents. The children were handed over to PDN inspectors. And in this case, the prevention authorities are already starting to work with the family, so that trouble does not happen in the future.

It seems that this is a vicious circle in which both parents and educators suffer, and, of course, children. Kindergartens, by law, can provide additional paid services – for example, to sit with your child after the end of the working day of the institution. But for this, you must first conduct a survey to find out how many people need such services, develop and approve a price list, and conclude an agreement between the contractor – the kindergarten and the customer – the parent.
