Description:

The goal of our school is to provide children with an exciting, age appropriate environment that supports social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development. We believe that the preparedenvironment is the first curriculum. It is a unique, child centered, and play based environment. Our “Creative Alternative” classrooms include many well defined activity centers filled with plenty of hands on materials. Art, science and sensory play, dramatic play, blocks and transportation, table games, books, puzzles, math and literacy materials, and much more, invite children to interact, explore, create, and learn. This reflects our philosophy that “A child’s WORK is his PLAY!”
We are both a NAEYC accredited and Quality Rated center, and we use The Creative Curriculum framework. We know that young children need to use all their senses in learning, so we provide many opportunities for concrete, hands on learning. Our child-teacher ratios are much lower than Georgia state ratios, as we follow both NAEYC and QR ratios. We believe that excellent child-teacher ratios help each teacher work with the individual needs of every child in their group.
We are especially proud of the very low turnover rate we have with our teaching staff. Over 80% of our staff members have been with our program for more than 5 years, with a big handful that have been a part of the MMS family for 15-20 years! We have a wonderful relationship with Savannah Technical College, whose Early Childhood Education students complete their practicums and internships in our classrooms, receiving hands on training from our very experienced staff members….

description of the breed of cats, character, care – Purina.ru

Savannah – a tall thin cat with long legs. An adult can reach a weight of 15 kg with a height of 60 cm at the withers. The size of her body depends on the proximity of a particular representative to the first crossed generation: the closer, the larger the animal. In addition, under the influence of random factors in the genetics of the Savannah breed, there can be cats that differ significantly in size, even in the same litter. As a rule, the Savannah has a spotted color, but sometimes there are cats with a marbled pattern, snow color, and also with blue or other desaturated colors. Ears – Tall, deep cupped, rounded, straight (the back of the ear has a light stripe in the center, with a black, dark gray or brown border, which creates an “eye effect”). These cats have a wide nose and eyes with overhanging eyelids. The short tails have black rings and a solid black tip. The eyes can be green, brown or golden. nine0003

  • Active breed
  • Independent
  • Outgoing cat
  • Graceful and elegant breed
  • Needs grooming only once a week.
  • Non-allergenic breed
  • Active breed that needs access to outdoor areas
  • Capable of living with children, subject to prior acquaintance

Origin

Savannah cats are controversial. They are the result of crossing a domestic cat and a serval, a medium-sized African wild cat with large ears. As a result of further crosses, cats were obtained that are considered domestic. This breed appeared in the middle of 1980s and was recognized by the International Cat Fanciers Association TICA.

Country of origin

USA

Personality

The Savannah differs in behavior from other cat breeds. It is difficult to single out any common features – the behavior of its representatives is more like an individual manifestation of character. Some cats of this breed are sociable and friendly with people and animals. Others, on the contrary, hide and hiss at a person. Cats of this breed are large and strong: they can jump to a height of up to two and a half meters. Savannahs are fast learners, and they show particular perseverance in trying to master a skill. Savannah can “chirp” like a serval or Maine Coon. nine0003

Behavior

Representatives of this breed are reserved, independent and self-sufficient. They like to be in the company of the owner, if the situation does not involve high activity. These cats make excellent companions. They are reserved about open spaces, preferring familiar spaces. Like other felines, these animals need constant access to food, water, and a litter box. It is better to place a cat bed higher – in a place where the animal will feel safe. nine0003

Health (problems)

It is too early to judge Savannah’s health problems. Such cases are not yet mentioned in the veterinary literature.

Nutrition

Cats are quite picky eaters, and they need to get 41 types of different nutrients from food. Their proportions will be different – depending on the age, lifestyle and health of the animal as a whole. Therefore, it is not surprising that a kitten that has a lot of energy needs a different balance of components than an adult cat with a low level of activity. It should also be remembered that in order to maintain the ideal shape of a pet, you need to give him a certain amount of food. The amount of food and nutritional recommendations are on the packaging. They differ for dry and soft food. nine0003

Maintenance

The coat of the Savannah cat does not require any special care. The condition of the coat depends on the health of the cat, so regularly undergo medical examinations, and treat the animal for parasites.

The Best Breeds for Children

Although this breed is not among the best breeds for children, all cats are different and with the right upbringing these animals can get along well with children.

such a savannah

Savannah – a natural area – such areas are located near the equator, where tropical forests end. The most extensive and famous of them are in Africa

However, there are similar zones on other continents:

  • in the northern part of Australia
  • in South America
  • in Asia there is a savanna in India

Savanna in Venezuela

Climate

The climate of the savanna is not tropical heat, but it is not tropical heat the humidity is low. Moreover, there is a pronounced dry period, to put it simply – at this time a real drought sets in. True, after such a period, rains will definitely come, and they will come for a long time – this is typical for the subequatorial climate. But the drought is serious, it can last several months. nine0003

Savannah vegetation

Grass is the predominant type of savannah vegetation. Although their landscape can be enlivened by bushes and trees – in contrast to the steppes, where only grass cover is observed. But the trees are mostly stunted, with crooked trunks. Shrubs may not be solitary, sometimes thickets come across.

African savannah

Boundless grassy oceans of savannahs on the hottest continent – Africa – a habitat for a large number of various herbivorous animals. nine0003 Elephants

pluck leaves from bushes and trees. Thus, while collecting food on different tiers, these animals do not compete with each other. Elephants and giraffes, due to their characteristics, can reach the upper branches, while smaller leaf-eating animals get their food from the lower ones. nine0003 Giraffes

Most African herbivores, defending themselves from predators, unite in herds. They move from place to place, where there is grass and water. As the dry season begins, they migrate in great numbers from their breeding grounds in the south to the northern and western areas where it has rained.

    Zebras

    Hunters and scavengers

The meat of herbivorous animals feed on many carnivorous inhabitants of the savannas, representatives of the order of carnivores, and in particular

    • hyenas
    • leopards
    • cheetahs
    • lions
    • wild dogs

    CheetahLeopardHyenaLions

And large herbivores, such as wildebeest, can be hunted by large representatives of the order of carnivores. Antelopes and gazelles, rodents and other small animals are chosen by smaller hunters who do not have the strength of the former. Birds of prey fall on their prey like a stone from the sky or from high branches of trees.

After the hunters are fed, it’s the turn of the scavengers. The remnants of the hunters’ prey are eaten by hyenas, which, on the other hand, are themselves predators. With their powerful jaws, they are able to crush even bones. The carcass of a dead animal is spotted, circling in the sky, and vultures. Sitting down to “feast”, they attract the attention of other scavengers: African marabou and jackals. The remaining “crumbs from the table” are cleaned up by flies and beetles. nine0003

    Lions

Lions occupy a special place among the top predators of the African savannas. A group of lions, or a pride, usually consists of females and their offspring. The pride is headed by a male or several male relatives. Hunting is mainly done by lionesses. Male lions play the role of guards of the territory. Often, for the right to control the pride, lions fight with each other, characterized by particular cruelty.

    Lion’s pride

    Birds

It is not possible to tell about all the birds that are found in the savannahs on different continents within the framework of one article. Let’s mention three unique birds:

    • African ostrich
    • African great bustard
    • African eared vulture

The fact is that these are the largest birds of their kind. The ostrich is generally the largest bird on earth. True, he does not fly. But it runs very fast. With a height of up to 2.7 meters and a weight of up to 155 kg, an ostrich can reach speeds of up to 70 km per hour! His step when running is 3-4 meters.

    Ostrich

The African bustard is also a phenomenon in its own way – it is the largest flying bird on our planet. It is larger than the usual bustard, there are males up to 1.2 meters weighing 20 kg. nine0003 African Great Bustard

As for the long-eared vulture, it is, if not the largest of the vultures, then certainly one of the three largest.
