SKC RECEIVES $25,000 FROM AMAZON, WASHINGTON COMMANDERS LEGENDS

In December, SKC Early Education Centers received a generous $25,000 donation from Amazon and Washington Commanders Legends.

EPIC EVERYDAY, a small local business, also brought holiday cheer to our scholars by gifting them with products from their beautifully and thoughtfully designed accessories line celebrating mocha-hued kids. Be sure to check them out!

Our Largo location was buzzing with excitement and we had such an amazing, fun-filled day. We wiggled and giggled and heard from the Washington MFL Legends Chris Baker, Kendrick Gholston, Ken Harvey, Tim Hightower, Brian Mitchell, Josh Morgan, Fred Smoot. enjoyed a reading of Soulful Holidays, a story celebrating the joys of Christmas and Kwanzaa, by Ciara L. Hill.

The event was covered by WJLA ABC 7 News. You can read the full article with pictures and video here.

We were thrilled to received this donation which will help to further our mission to provide children with the foundational tools they need for lifelong success.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO KEEPING OUR SKC SCHOLARS, FAMILIES AND STAFF SAFE

The COVID-19 Pandemic has presented unique challenges for all of us and understandably, concerns arise about the ability to safely return to work, school, and daycare. With that in mind, we are committed to ensuring that our facilities continue to be a safe and nurturing environment to serve our SKC scholars and families.

We have implemented and strictly enforce the following COVID-19 policy:

  • “In line with the State of Maryland and CDC guidance, masks will still be required on public transportation and in schools, child care settings and health care settings.” (Per Office of the Prince George’s County Executive Angela D. Alsobrooks Press Release of May 26, 2021)

  • MSDE REQUIRES THAT, UPON ARRIVAL, ALL CHILDREN ENTERING THE BUILDING MUST HAVE THEIR TEMPERATURE TAKEN AND MUST HAVE A READING BELOW 100.4 TO ATTEND SKC

  • Everyone must clean their hands using the hand sanitizer at the check-in station when entering the SKC facility

  • Social distancing is a MUST and we must maintain proper ratios; with that said, we can only allow 15 total people to a classroom (including staff; younger classrooms will maintain their ratios)

  • Children will wash their hands immediately after they enter the classroom and every 30 minutes thereafter or sooner, as needed

  • Staff will deep clean/sanitize every two hours throughout the day using bleach and water and a disinfectant solution

  • Parents are advised to continue labeling all of your child’s belongings (including lunch items) since you will no longer be able to enter the facility

  • No outside toys are permitted inside the building unless parents authorize us to sanitize them throughout the day

  • We will no longer store any extra food or cups; these will go home daily to be washed and sanitized

  • Please be advised that any family traveling to areas considered “high risk” must wait 14 days before returning to school

  • No outside visitors will be permitted to enter the building (we are offering virtual tours via ZOOM)

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
