Preschool vs. Play-Based Learning – As parents we want the very best for our children and so the thought that children are going to “just play all day” may seem as though we are not offering all of the important learning as in a conventional preschool. Our belief that children have a wider range of learning through play is evidence based and the benefits of play based learning expand beyond school preparation.  Staff facilitate this by actively observing and providing props, materials, and interaction.  Is play-based learning the right fit your your child?  Ask yourself these questions?

  • Is problem solving an important life skill?
  • Would a rich vocabulary be beneficial to your child’s school success?
  • Do you think self-regulation skills are needed?
  • Can you see a time in your child’s life when creativity and confidence will give them the edge?

Children are exposed to all of this learning and more through play!

Rex Tillerson. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson: biography, family, photos until March 2018. In 2012, he was awarded the Order of Friendship “for his great contribution to the development and strengthening of cooperation with the Russian Federation.

” Party affiliation: Republican. US President Donald Trump on March 13 announced the dismissal of Rex Tillerson from the post of head of the US State Department. Mike Pompeo took his place.

Rex Tillerson’s early life and education

Rex Wayne Tillerson was born March 23, 1952 in Texas (Wichita Falls). Childhood years were spent in Oklahoma and Texas. Tillerson’s parents, Patty Sue Patton and Bobbie Jo Tillerson met as teenagers at a Boy Scout camp where his future mother, Rexha, came to visit her brother. Rex shared his parents’ passion and was an active member of the Boy Scout movement as a child. Young Tillerson even received the highest rank of Eagle Scout in 1965. Only 4% of Boy Scouts achieve this qualification.

Tillerson’s parents met as teenagers at a Boy Scout camp where his mother-to-be, Patty, came to visit her brother. From 2010 to 2012, Tillerson served as president of the Boy Scouts of America and served on its board of trustees for many years (Photo: blog. scoutingmagazine.org)

Union of the University of Oklahoma. In 1968, he became a janitor working in one of the engineering buildings at the same university.

Rex Tillerson graduated from Huntsville High School, Texas in 1970. In the same year, he entered the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. During his student years, he was a member of the AFO (Alpha Phi Omega) fraternity, and was also a member of one of the oldest university organizations, the Tejas Club and the Longhorn Band of the university marching band.

Business and career of Rex Tillerson

After graduating from university, Rex Tillerson immediately joined Exxon as a process engineer. He worked in the extractive industries. Soon he headed the business development service in the gas department of the corporation.

In 1989, Rex Tillerson became general manager of Exxon USA’s central manufacturing division. In 1995, Tillerson was named president of Exxon Yemen Inc. and Esso Exploration and Production Khorat Inc.

In 1998, Rex Tillerson became Vice President of Exxon Ventures and President of Exxon Neftegas Limited, overseeing Exxon’s business in Russia and the Caspian Sea. At 19Exxon and Mobil merged in 1999. Tillerson was named executive vice president of ExxonMobil Development. In 2004, Rex Tillerson became President and CEO of ExxonMobil. On January 1, 2006, Tillerson was elected chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, following the retirement of Lee Raymond.

Rex Tillerson’s activities are very, very diverse. He is a member of the Business Council, the executive committee of the American Petroleum Institute, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the US Emergency Committee on Trade, the National Academy of Engineering Sciences (USA) since 2013, is a member of the National Petroleum Council, the Business Roundtable.

Mr. Tillerson is Vice President of the Ford Theater Society. From 2010 to 2012, he was the head of the American Boy Scouts Association (Boy Scouts of America), and then remained on the executive board. Rex Tillerson advocated the lifting of the Boy Scout club membership ban for homosexuals. Tillerson was the director of the United University Fund for Negro Student Aid.

For his inflexible temper and consonance with his first and last name, he received the nickname Texas T-Rex (T-Rex – Tyrannosaurus Rex), which he was given in Alaska, due to ExxonMobil’s difficult relationship with state authorities.

Rex Tillerson was called one of the most influential businessmen in America, as the head of ExxonMobil he managed to bring the company’s capitalization to $ 356.2 billion. million dollars. Most of these funds are shares of ExxonMobil, which he left after moving to the post of Secretary of State. Rex Tillerson plans to sell the shares and transfer $180 million to a trust that pays dividends for 10 years, but does not invest in projects that the US Secretary of State may be involved in.

Rex Tillerson also owns shares in Apple, J.P. Morgan Chase, Royal Dutch Shell, Total, Texas municipal bonds. Among his properties is a ranch near the Texas-Oklahoma border.

Tillerson and Russia

While at ExxonMobil, Rex Tillerson was closely connected in business matters with Russia, which was the subject of various accusations in the US press after the start of his political career. Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense and President of the Center for Strategic and International Studies John Hamr noted that Tillerson spoke with Vladimir Putin more than any other American, with the exception of Henry Kissinger.

Rex Tillerson is also called a friend of Rosneft President Igor Sechin, their acquaintance began back in the 90s, according to Western media reports. In those years, Rex Tillerson represented Exxon in Russia.

In 2011, ExxonMobil entered into an agreement with Rosneft Corporation , gaining access to Arctic oil reserves, but the contract was frozen in 2014 after the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions. In early 2015, ExxonMobil announced that US and EU sanctions against Russia had cost it about $1 billion (the maximum estimated loss). As reported in the annual report, the US oil giant curtailed a number of projects with Rosneft in 2014, in particular, in the Black Sea, the Arctic and western Siberia.

In 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Tillerson with the Order of Friendship of Peoples.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed in December 2016 that Putin “received Mr. Tillerson several times, including with his then partners in the Russian Federation”, however, according to a Kremlin spokesman, “as regards allegations that whether he has a good or bad attitude towards the Russian Federation is a big difference – being a secretary of state and managing even a very large company.

Rex Tillerson’s Political Career

In December 2016, Tillerson met with Donald Trump at New York’s Trump Tower, becoming the top contender for the US Secretary of State. Against the backdrop of Russia’s accusations of interference in the US presidential election, the figure of Tillerson for many media became a confirmation of Washington’s possible turn towards Russia. On December 13, 2016, Rex Tillerson was nominated by Donald Trump, on January 23, the Senate committee approved the candidacy by 11 votes to 10. On February 1, 2017, Tillerson was confirmed in office by 56 votes to 43 senators.

Back in January, the supposedly pro-Russian Tillerson admitted that Russia posed a threat to NATO member states. “Our NATO allies have reason to be concerned about the rise of Russia, which is behaving unpredictably,” Tillerson said, referring to Crimea and the operation in Syria.

A few months after the Trump-Tillerson duo came to power, it became clear that relations between the United States and Russia were still far from ideal. On the night of April 7, 2017, the US military fired more than 50 missiles at a Syrian military base located in Homs province. The victims of the attack were six Syrian soldiers and nine civilians, including children.

Russian President Vladimir Putin assessed the actions of the United States as an act of aggression against a sovereign state, and the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Moscow was suspending the Memorandum on Syria.

To this, Rex Tillerson stated that he was “disappointed by the response of the Russians, as it indicates their continued support for the Assad regime.” “I find this very disappointing, but, unfortunately, I must tell you, not so unexpected at all,” the US Secretary of State complained to reporters.

On April 11, Tillerson flew to Moscow. Before the visit, during the G7 summit, he put forward an ultimatum to Russia demanding to make a choice – either it continues to be on the side of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Iran and Hezbollah, or joins the United States and their associates.

Talks between US Secretary of State R. Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister S. Lavrov in Moscow. April 12, 2017 (Photo: AP/TASS)

“We want to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people. Russia can be a part of this future and play an important role in it. Or Russia may continue to support this group, which, as we believe, does not meet its interests in the long term, ”Tillerson said on the eve of a visit to Moscow.

Vladimir Putin, speaking at a press conference in Italy shortly after Tillerson’s speech, said that the accusations against Russia reminded him of the events of 2003, when US representative Colin Powell showed a test tube with supposedly chemical weapons found in Iraq. “In this connection, I remember our wonderful writers Ilf and Petrov. I would like to say: “It’s boring, girls, we have all seen and observed this,” the President of the Russian Federation noted.

Resignation as Secretary of State

On March 13, Donald Trump announced the resignation of Rex Tillerson as head of the US State Department. CIA Director Mike Pompeo took his place. The State Department noted that Tillerson wanted to remain in his post, as he believed that he was successfully working for the benefit of the country’s national security.

According to the American leader, he got on well with Tillerson, but they differed on a number of issues. Trump cited the Iran deal as an example. “I think she’s terrible, he thinks she’s normal, we didn’t think the same way, and Mike Pompeo and I think the same way,” Trump said, the news reported.

“I think Rex will be a lot happier now,” the president added, expressing his hope that Pompeo will become a “great secretary of state.”

The Kremlin is not afraid of further complications in relations between Moscow and Washington due to the appointment of CIA head Mike Pompeo as US Secretary of State.

“You can hardly fall below the floor. Therefore, in this regard, it is hardly necessary to fear further deterioration, but in any case, of course, there remains hope for constructivism and a sober approach in mutual relations.
