Little Sunshine’s Playhouse & Preschool^® of Overland Park is locally owned and operated. It opened in 2018 and was the second Little Sunshine’s Playhouse in the Kansas City metro. The school is located in the southern part of Overland Park right down the road from Scheels Sports Complex and just minutes from Prairie Fire Museum.

Our all-inclusive, private preschool program provides educational child care to children ages 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten in the Johnson County and Blue Valley communities.

In order to cater to your family’s unique child care needs, we offer a variety of schedule options, which are M-F, MWF and Tues./Thurs. Our monthly tuition rates include: formula, wipes, baby food, breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and extracurricular activities.

Our Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum, Creatively Shine®, is based on the latest research and trends to prepare your children for their educational careers equipping them with cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language skills.

Program Director

Hello, I am Ms. Mikayla, and I am so excited to be your Program Director at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Overland Park!

I began my journey with Little Sunshine’s Playhouse in Springfield, MO in 2018. During my time, I took on various roles in different classrooms and leadership. I graduated with my Associate’s in Early Childhood Education and Development and I will be finishing up my bachelor’s degree this December. I am proud to be continuing my journey with this amazing organization.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine, and I believe children thrive best when in a safe and loving environment. When children’s needs are met, their potential is endless!

Outside of work, I love being outdoors as much as possible. My husband, Tanner, and I love spending time at the lake and traveling together. We have three rowdy dogs, all rescues of course, who we love unconditionally! I am so excited to get to know you and your family!

Assistant Director

Hello! My name is Emily, and I am the Assistant Director of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Overland Park. I have been an educator in the early childhood setting since 2017, starting as an assistant teacher and later becoming a lead teacher. After several wonderful years of classroom teaching, I realized that I wanted to become part of the leadership team to aid all teachers in developing amazing curriculum experiences for the children in our school. I will be obtaining a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education & Leadership from Rasmussen University in December 2022.

Before my career in early childhood, my work included serving as an outdoor climbing director for the Boy Scouts of America. Teaching children to climb ropes courses developed my love for education along with helping children overcome challenges and adversity.
I believe that children will always be the future of our world. It is our responsibility as educators to instill empathy and kindness into their lives. I look forward to loving, educating, and advocating for your children.

In my free time, I enjoy anything outdoors and am always looking for new adventures with friends and family.

Area Manager

My name is Elsie and I am proud to serve as the area manager for Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool® in Kansas City. I began my journey as preschool teacher while in college at the University of Kansas in 2008 (Rock Chalk!) pursuing my Bachelor of Science, Elementary Education. It was during this time where education young children truly became a passion of mine. I have served as a program director in the Johnson County community since my family moved to the area in 2014.

I believe each child has a unique learning style and should be given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving environment. I look forward to going in to work each day where I get to watch our amazing teachers do amazing things and witness our students learn through play and discovery.

In my spare time you can find me with my family; my husband Ryan and our three kiddos; Max, Leo and Ella. We enjoy traveling, have family movie nights & being outdoors as much as possible.

I cannot say how happy we are with sending our 3-year-old and twin babies to LSP. The directors are fantastic and have done a great job transitioning the center back to in-person drop-off and getting us back on track. They have worked very candidly with us to help our son in the classroom and have gone above our expectations to get him ready for school. My son is learning his planets as well math skills and I’m just beyond impressed. The infant room is wonderful, you know you’re taking your kids to a great place when the babies start to kick their feet and smile when you drop them off. It’s been a wonderful experience and I look forward to the kids developing through their program.

We absolutely adore this daycare! The teachers are wonderful too! Amazing staff and such a clean atmosphere. Our son is in the Wonderland room and he has blossomed in his talking ever since we changed from La Petite to here. He has learned so much in just 6 months. He also is lactose intolerance and they are very helpful in making sure he does not get dairy. It’s one of the most expensive but worth every penny! Can’t put a price tag on your child! We highly recommend this place! They have our complete trust!!!!

We absolutely love Little Sunshine for our daughter. The leadership team has gone above and beyond to not only take care of our little one but also us parents, which is so important when you are first-time parents. Highly recommend Little sunshine for all that they do and more! 🙂 Our daughters teacher writes such delightful daily reports about what they learned and ate in addition to little details that are my family’s highlight to read at the end of the day. She cares for our daughter so beautifully, we couldn’t be more grateful for her!!

+ barns&nobles bookstore with an integrated starbucks – take a book and drink coffee 🙂

Pretty standard mall

July 2017 • Solo travel

The mall has a lot to look forward to. It’s anchored by JC Penny, Nordstrom, Macy’s and Dillard. The latter is divided into two sections (girls clothes in one, everything else in another). There are also Barnes and Noble. There is also a central carousel. The food court is on the second floor of Macy’s and has the usual mix of fast food outlets. There are better restaurants in the mall parking lot.

Just needed a couple things so we went. Had walk signs with distance markers and advice. Clean and polite staff! Great mall and only seen a portion of it.

Overland Park, Kansas center with lots of good outlets and decent places to eat. Great place to relax in hot summers. Lots of parking and free. There are big good outlets like Macy’s, Dillard, Shuttle, JC Penny etc. Choice of food not too much but Chipotle and Metro are there to assist skiers. All in all a good place to spend a good 3-4 hours shopping.

Nice, 2 story, indoor mall

Came to the Oak Park Mall for a day shop inga while my husband was attending a conference at KC. The mall was very clean with lots of shops and a very good food court. Asked American Girl to keep, toy store and a unique double decker revel for your kids.

Great shopping experience!

I was here after a busy day at Legends in the rain. there was ample parking and it was much bigger with more shops than i had time to visit so i will be back again. Many of the same stores we got in the UK, but quite a few different ones. I really liked the big department stores, Dillards, Macy’s, Nordstrom and the JC Penney hotel. The mall was immaculate and not too busy on Saturdays and plenty of places to sit down and have a refreshing welcome.
